Well I just updated and will test the ROM now.

that link gives me an error message..but i did find the page myself. i am assuming that the update is inside the zip file? i do have 6.5 already on my phone, it came preinstalled on my phone.

They've already stated(Tosh): no wm 6.5.3 very soon on tg01.
Updates for UK & italian ROMs(verified).
Don't know for german/spanish yet.

One major issue got fixed!!!
The GPS problem!
With the old version, the gps adapter reconnected every 2 or 3 secondes.
After this update no more reconnects!
Great, no more problems with GPS. Works now like a charm.

what about voice reception...also how do you flash new rom..prg..? what do i do with that file or just run the sddl?

just download the .zip archive.
Then extract it and copy the sddl and the folder prg directly to your storage card. Directly means don't create a new folder!
Then just click sddl and the update should work.

Maybe, I have no idea if it's harder to use this or to build up from scratch but I hope they can succeed !

Any hardware differences from your chinese C8800 and our U8800 or is it exactly the same?

look on the end of the page http://www.beued.com/huawei-ideos-x5-u8800-and-c8800-specs.html they are saging that the only differnce is the type of network conection

C8800 has a different CPU, msm7627.

The net is CDMA, not WCDMA. And the CPU is MSM7630 for the CDMA. Maybe the other hardware have no difference. Sorry, I am not very clear. I just post it here at first time when I found it.

C8800 has a different cpu,msm7X27,and it's an cdma2000 phone!

The cpu of c8800 is msm7x27,not msm7630 for cdma.So,it's very diffcult

If it was just a CDMA MSM7630, then we could run the kernel fine with minimal tweaking, because the radio stuff doesn't really touch the kernel.
Unfortunately, the source is for a completely different board, so it'll be harder to port. Not impossible, but a lot harder.

I don't think"kernel-2.6.35-C8800-C8650-Gingerbread"can be used by U8800,because the hardware of C8800 is worse than U8800,C8800's cpu is not A8 framework and the baseband is different from U8800 too.

If it's from their site it should be included in of their stock ROMs. If you want to use that file you have to compile it to begin with.

Hi,
You have English, French, Spain, German and Italian. For me Radio works better then previous version, especially WiFi.

I am testing this version and i am very satisfy!it has no keyboard and for change language you must first install a keybord.(i use smart keyoard pro)then you can change the language to english.the speed is good,battery good the customization is amazing.you can change everything you want to the appearence!5*

Unfortunately sensor lag bug still exists. But it's a little bit better now.
Other issuess:
- Setings / System / Mobile network / Network operators / Searching always fails with message: "Error while searching for networks"

it Looks like this Rom is for the Italien market (not sure) but you can choose by the flashtool Default csc DBT, ATO,BTU,ITV,XEF,XEO
step by step instruction:
1. Download Flashtool+Driver and ROM with CSC file.
2. Install Driver on your PC (i had problems with win 8.1 X64, win7 X64 installation fine)
3. Put your phone in Download modus
Shut down your phone
press and hold volume up + camera button and press shortly power button (still hold volume up and camera buttons!)
download modus must appear.
4. Start flashtool and load Rom (.WP8 file) and csc file into the flashtool
in the yellow folder load Rom. (.WP8 file)
in the green folder load CSC file
5. Choose your default CSC Code under DL Options-->CSC sale Codes. (for example DBT is Germany)
6. Plug in your phone to your PC over USB cabel.
7. Press start in the flashtool (if you cant press start, something wrong with drivers or phone--PC connection)
Flashtime about 10 min....

I took a quick look but haven't investigated yet. Unfortunately, I have the other model of ATIV S - the T899M - and there's no way I'm going to risk flashing an I8750 ROM onto it; that never ends well. On the other hand, I *would* be very interested in Samsung WP8 flashing tools. One of the biggest problems my phone has is that its firmware is badly outdated and there seems to be no updates for it (the I8750 has had at least two updates so far, one of which fixed a known issue that also affects my phone and breaks WiFi tethering).
Obviously, the interest in custom ROMs is also quite significant. We'll have to wait and see about that, though.

I think that the ativ's bootloader is locked. Huawei coders could miss checking a signature, but not samsung, I think. But who knows?

Oh, it's undoubtedly locked. All WP8 devices are supposed to have locked bootloaders. However, that doesn't mean we can't find bugs in those systems to let us past the signature checks, or to let us replace the bootloader entirely, anyhow. This was possible (via various approaches) on devices from multiple different OEMs (including Samsung) with WP7.

The radio is not included. Data sense, etc is installed. Ativ Beam works fine
