Announcing XDA-developers Special Edition ROM v1.1

Version 1.1 of the Special Edition ROM is now out:
Fixed:
- Based on O2 3.17.03 ROM: annoying reply to SMS bug fixed
- Everyone can now use GPRS
- Pocket IE opens GPRS connection
- Serial ActiveSync now works
- Minor issues and cosmetics
New:
- Brand new version of dbView tool
- EzWAP2
- Our own band switch tool for US users, switch between all three bands
(no guarantee your hardware supports it, but at least you can now try)
This is now officially the coolest ROM for you, no matter where you live...
See the mkrom page for details on how to build this ROM (difficult), or wait for some kind soul to build the EXE, and just download and run it (easy).

Thanks a lot for your effort. I've really enjoyed the possibility to create my own ROM.
Is it possible to get a look on the source code of that welcome.exe app? So far it 's the only closed thing in your package.

The source is online: http://xda-developers.com/mkrom/welcome101-src.zip . The source for the welcome in the previous ROM was available too. Look at the mkrom page for details...
Let us know if you come across cool tricks we could incorporate in our ROMs too.

My PIE & ActiveSync over GPRS are now working well with this ROM + AT&T SX56 radion on my T-mobile USA device.

I am here in the uk...
Last time i tried to flash my xda with the radio upgrade i lost all functions on the device and had to send it back to the service centre to be repaired...
If i run the exe that has beed kindly created is there any chance of screwing up my device again!...
I would be running via USB and the docking station that came with the decive!..
I want to do this but am a little worried after the last incident!...

Is EzWap version 2.5 MMS or 2
When you say:

What do you mean exactly by this ?
Because we have a serious problem with our local operator: they "upgraded" the GPRS system (by Erickson) last week, and since then, all GPRS on Pocket PC's stopped connecting. Is the new ROM the solution ?

ezwap 2.5 has got MMS

is there a program on the new ROM which can open pdf files instead of acrobat reader?

Try it.... it sits as small programm in the taskbar naming "start" (because it's right over the start button).. it runs always... taking nearly no cpu-time. when u start to write a sms then it begins to count (like nokia).

Until now, T-Mobile UK released only 2 rom versions for Charmer, and you can find them here: ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Charmer/Shipped_ROMs/

i thing for czech is newest 2.6.2.29 and in the other countries is 2.6.2.27

/you may have a problem during update - "Key failure..." or something like this (for EN version). Then use RU image, extract it (use 7zip) and put EXTROM.bin and FLASH.bin in the same folder (replace)... after- enjoy/

Yes... Use other installation... now... download RU image. Use 7zip to extract the installation (yes, you can). Download ENG image. Extract it from same way. Now, copy EXTROM.bin and FLASH.bin from ENG extraction files to RU files (replace). Then run ACER_EUU.exe . This is it ... and one more thing - if it show error for wrong version before "Key failure", edit the version.txt and put high version than yours.

Been trying to reinstall acer version but after following above i keep getting SKU language fail, device=1.002d.00_EN_IN
Image version=2.003.00_RU
Any ideas?

Looks like there are different EN versions.

Acer S200 NewTouch
Hi,
I bought Acer S200 from francem the issue is OS language is French, i liked the phone a lot so insted of returning it want to check possibility if i can change the language to EN.
Please let me know if it is possible and how to do if possilbe.

First you download ROM image -> ftp://ftp.acer-euro.com/smartphone/s200/os_images/
Than run .exe, will appear a window, which will guide you through ROM update.

I tried the option you have stated in your post , i have downloaded the OS image in EN but when i try to update my phone i get the message stating the OS language is not matching then the wizard shows finish btton not the next button , please suggest what to do.
My Phone OS is french i want to change it to English OS.

i Tried this as well but getting registration key error , currently the OS on my phone is S200_1.002C.00_FR.

can i downgrade my acer s200 from 2.003.01_FR_SFR to 2.003.00_FR ?

Korean Rom with 576MB ram for Hd2??

Hi, does anyone know if there is a korean rom available for Hd2? I use korean files a lot on my phone and boxes are of no use. If its out there im sorry but ive bin looking and cant find it at all

You are looking for a Korean ROM or just need to view Hangeul, in which case you just need Korean font on your device.

Yeah.. me is looking for this too... I heard that you can install CHS+CHT Rom then you can install language pack (or something similar) to read and write in Korean...
I would live to give it a go, but only if i had spare HD2 to test it on...

Hey, I've done it, and working fine.. Bit of issue with Keyboard.. but it works. Downloaded ROM from here at xda-developers, and little help from one of the Korean Sites..

He has clarified that he is looking for a Korean ROM whilst based on your post, you are looking for the ability to just read and write Korean. If it is the latter, that can be done using the correct font and input (SIP)
However, you will not be able to view Chinese font. I am not sure if there is a way to allow the user to see both Chinese and Korean fonts at the same time

Thanks to James Kim, it work fine as far as texting and e-mailing in Korean. (I've installed it last night and so far so good)
It comes with "Moa keys" and I was able to get some info from youtube. (I'm learning)
I've got T-Mobile and it's working fine, but when I try to send to my friend with AT&T, it gives me message and tells me try to send it without the symbols.
I guess it doesn't work if you have AT&T.

yea I am also using MoaKey2 which I think is from Samsung and is relatively easy to use.

@nayajoeun, can't remember where I got the fonts
edit: added cab file for font

its not easy to install font on wm6.5... i've tried so many fonts... all failed on me

Here is how i did it..
OK.. Here is how I did it.. hopefully this will help you ppl.
I'm currently using Telstra (Australia : 850Mhz / 2100Mhz) version of HTC HD2 (Leo).
I've forgot what Radio Version it was.. but yeah...
* Install HSPL
* Do a search for Merlion Leo Rom V2.5 on this forum
a) Once installed and configured,
* Do a search for Lost In Asia V1.2.23544 WWE with CHS on this forum
a) Once installed and configured, open up a browser then goto google.co.kr then in the search box, type in or copy and paste this "htc hd2 한글쓰기". It's the thrid one down on the search result... one that starts with "mymits"
b) download the files from the website and follow the instruction.
Instead of using Fingerkey, I found Moakey is alot better.
Hope this helps... Reason why I've used 2 custom roms.. ROM installed ok, but got stuck on HTC Screen (May be because I didn't read the information fully... advised to install RADIO Ver of 2.08 before installing the ROM)... So, I had to install Merlion Leo Rom V2.5 then Lost In Asia V1.2.23544 WWE with CHS.
Anyways...

LIA ROM does not include radio whilst Merlion ROM does. You should be able to skip Merlion ROM for this exercise by just flashing the correct radio before using LIA.

It's working! but it's 99.9%
I installed steps 1-6 on my HTC Touch Pro 2 and it is working, but whenever I pushed start button at bottom right it freezes my phone.
Until I installed MyMITs_Korea+Moakey2WVGA100310.cab then everything works smooth.
As you can see, some of menu has not changed yet. 99.9% I'll say.
My rom is |R|6.5.5|ROM|WWE| ★ Energy "Leo" 23544 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562773
and it seems to be okay now.
I can't wait til the t-mobile hd2 comes out. (I'll have to butter up my sweetheart to get one probably )

i guess it depends what you want to do. If you just want to upgrade your phone, then use the update-software provided by SonyEricsson. If you want to change language from one language to an other, then you need to follow the guides in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=665564
I think that the original poster of these cabs is mixing numbers. We have now MR2 available, not MR3!

those are no issue...l dont have any lock to extract cab files from software they provide in other thread..l just download generic uk from thred where is all reay extracted...but my native mr1 was generic en...so that is why l wait to some extract cabs from generic en

Anybody got the Transcriber.cab ? With the latest Mr2 release the handwriting is gone. To get it back, we would need that transcriber cab.
I cannot find it in any of those uploaded cabs. Thanks!

Can't be, because all roms (that i have checked) are identical except those cabfiles that specify the language-version for the device.
If this is a special-rom, then please post here the device-info. If this differs from the list of device-infos i have on track, then i'll create a custom cab that you could use for getting the same look..
