Galaxy S5 G900V Verizon issue - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This Saturday my phone shut off, wouldn't come back on, got it into download mode to reset using ODIN like Youtube suggested, now it's stuck on a boot loop of trying to restart into recovery, but failing to do so and just restarting every time on the same boot loop trying to launch recovery, I tried Kies to reset it, but I no longer have the box it came in, and Verizon doesn't have the serial number on the sticker under the battery, and Kies was asking for the serial number. Any advice anyone who has experienced this issue can give me? It was on Android 6.0.1 at the time.

Flash the firmware in odin but check nand erase and repartition and make sure auto reboot is checked and f reset time is checked get the pit file and place it in the repartition slot then click start it will boot loop reboot to download mode and flash firmware again with only auto reboot checked and f reset time checked and nothing in repartition slot
it should boot now if not tell me I will try to help out

Here is what ODIN said

Make sure you used the verizon pit file g900v
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

Just downloaded the PIT file, where do I select it on ODIN?

Put it in the pit tab
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

Still on the recovery loading boot loop, I had nand erase, & re-partition selected first time, and selected the pit, restarted it put it back in download this time just did the firmware.

Hmm here is something else try this download 7 zip file manager and open it extract the firmware file twice you will see at boot img file click the add button and make it a tar file
Then flash boot tar file in odin by itself

Try this again Boot to recovery mode and wipe data and cache
And also flash the modem fil using add and make it a tar file
Then flash the modem tar

Trying that now, and honestly thanks for the help wouldn't let me into recovery; I had something pop up with a yellow exclamation symbol on the screen, but I couldn't see what it said as I dropped phone and battery fell out

First check under battery what is your phone model just want to double check

Flash this firmware the combination firmware in odin
It should boot then flash a g900v firmware for 4.4.2 kitkat it will give you a scary warning ignore it and flash a boot tar file made from the combination firmware use same method as for previous firmwares of this thread to make odin flashable boot tar file and it should boot into 4.4.2 kitkat firmware from there flash any g900v official firmware using Odin

SM-G900V; downloading the files now, I have slow internet so it will take a while, I can respond back to this post if this doesn't work, once more thanks for your help.

The combination file got me back up and running but it has a bunch of weird information on the screen, how do I get back to marshmallow though? and once again, thanks so much for your help:good::good:

@ldyal09
SM-G900V PG2 factory (low ship) firmware:
https://mega.nz/#!KoNmgJiC!tpFeIDGXNmc1diC6_NmqAeqClVHhTpPQ76WLPiCx6Z8
Flash via Odin (AP field only, no extra settings needed).
It will wipe all your data.

Don't suppose you might know what could have caused this issue? Tried flashing back to marshmallow 6.0.1 using ODIN and it's back in the recovery booting boot loop lol

@bbsc tried that file, keeps on giving me recovery loading boot loop

I re-flashed the combination one, and my phone is stuck in like a service mode, has like SEMI, Waterproof, MIC2 Echo, CPUStress, Factory IME icons on screen with logos of the android robot. Also has a black screen in the middle says

[Q] Flash from KitKat 4.4 back to stock

Greetings! I have flashed roms before, and never had an issue going back to stock. However I think this time, I am done over.
I recently flashed my SPH-L720(Sprint GS4) to KitKat 4.4 running Gummy's mod
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2527318
The mod ran smooth, and I enjoyed it very much with minimal problems. The problem is that my in-laws have given me a Galaxy Gear watch. So with that being said, I need to downgrade back to 4.3 in order to get the Samsung Apps to link the watch with my phone. I know that I will be loosing all the great things I have on my phone. I have run Odin, attempting to flash back to 4.2.2, with no such luck(It gives me a fail every time)
So in a nutshell,
Model - SPH-L720
Android - 4.4
Baseband Version - L720PUEMK2
Kernal- 3.4.60-Elite Kernal-g57ef076
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT: This is what I get when I run ODIN

You were on MJA before flashing Gummy ROM? If you were than you cannot downgrade at all to MDC MDL or MF9. You have to Odin MJA tar.

Here is the link. So you know this will probably wipe your internal memory so backup anything important.
Also it comes in a Zip format so just unzip and the tar will be there.

Thank you! I did that. For some reason I cannot get the WiFi to turn on now. I have it booted up, and all seems to be there. I made a back up before I did this. Any ideas?
Every time I try to turn WiFi on, it gives me a notifaction saying "Security Information - The device has detected an application attempting to perform actions that are not permitted. These actions have been blocked. Then it gives me the option to reboot now, or reboot later.

Hi,
Try with different cables, PCs, or put files in BL. And make sure you're not on Chinese Pit.

Already tried mentioned method. Except Chinese pit. How to check that? And i think Chinese pit change can be issue because this happened after i flashed the first Chinese lollipop rom when it was officially launch for Chinese.
Can you guide me through this and help me?
Thank u so much.
Get an International pit arround XDA or use SamFirm with "Binary Nature" checked and flash it along firmware with Odin.
If you use SamFirm method, you'll have 4 files (Pit is inside CSC tar.md5). Put these 4 files on Odin and tick Re-partition.

Hi. I tried every thing. But still the deep sleep, random hangs and slow working of phone continues on lolipop rom.
This all started when i tried to flash some miui rom and i not able to flash as i think it was not for my i9500. After that i again flashed aurora v4.0 but started facing deep sleep, and slow working issue. Then i tried flashing ozcan kitkat rom and the again all become normal.
So basically my phone is not working good at lolipop rom (earlier it worked great) and works good in kk rom (ozcan).
So can you suggest what can be done? or how could i locate the problem and rectified it.
I don't have any idea for this.
I loved CM-based ROM and I would stay on it as long as it doesn't have any major bugs.
For MIUI by gtbluesky, use CWM. Or you can remove 'assert' word on first paragraph until 'abort{This is for ja3g...}' on updater-script file.

Please help me i tried rooting and now my phone won't work

I tried rooting my phone using Odin from this tutorial:
https:// theunlockr(dot)com/2016/02/04/root-samsung-galaxy-s6-edge-plus/
It failed and now my phone reads "Kernel is not seandroid enforcing" and will not enter recovery mode.
I tried installing the proper firmware but when I try using that it fails and my phone then reads "SW REV CHECK FAIL DEVICE 3 BINARY 2"

Where did you get your stock firmware from to flash with odin?
Is it a 3 file flash or a single large file which you place in the AP slot?
I find the 3 file ones are better as it contains the firmware, bootloader and correct files all for the same version/model.
Try sammobile, the download is slow if you don't have premium access to the download site.
You can also try the program kies or whatever the recovery program is these days, I remember with my note having exhausted all possibilities using it and it actually worked. It's slow but might bring your phone back to life.
Looks like the recovery program lies is now called smart switch...

It's a three file flash I believe, I've just been putting one huge file in the AP, I haven't heard of the three file thing, I've tried the Sammobile firmware stock too and it hasn't worked. It fails on Odin. Do you know anything else I could try?
You could try grabbing TWRP recovery and flashing that with odin. That could give you access to a recovery to wipe and factory wipe. You could grab a custom rom and use TWRP to install that.
If you could find the 3 file flash it might help because it will have the right bootloader/firmware/csc for your phone.
Just a quick thought... Have you tried running odin with administration rights in Windows? And is it the latest version of odin?

Sorry this is really late, apparently nothing worked, I took it to the uBreakiFix and they apparently had to install the firmware by it's build number which took like a week cause I had to go through every single build number. But thank you very much for your help

There is No PIT Partition

Hey!
I kinda screwed up, horribly.
I initially had a Verizon S7 Edge, but I was on T-Mobile service so I decided to follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...de-flashing-sm-935u-firmware-verizon-t3415145 and it worked! Then I thought, maybe if I flash the T-Mobile firmware, it would work even better, and it did! Then recently I decided that I wanted to go back to unlocked firmware, so I tried flashing it again. Thats when everything went to ****. It failed, and said something about "sw rev check fail fused 3 binary 2", and so I tried again and it failed. I rebooted thinking that maybe the old os would be intact but it booted to recovery mode saying that it couldn't mount any of the partitions. So I tried to reflash the T-Mobile firmware again and now its giving an error about how there is no PIT partition. From googling online, I think I need to flash a .pit file or something. I could only find PIT files for the international unlocked s7 edge. Does anyone have the PIT files for the AT&T/Verizon/Unlocked S7 Edge (preferred, because I can then flash the U firmware), or even the T-Mobile PIT file?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
EDIT: I rebooted the device and it took me to recovery and complained about not being able to mount /cache and /system. I fixed the /cache issue by using the "wipe cache partition" option, but now it is saying "dm-verity verification failed. E: failed to mount /system (Invalid argument)"
I tried flashing a PIT/ROM combo for tmobile that I found online but now im getting this error:

Thank you, but I just figured out how to solve the issue. I found the latest firmware from TMOBILE and flashed that. Apparently I had updated my phone so the bootloader was version 3 instead of version 2 or something and you can downgrade. Im not sure if thats the right explanation, but my phone works now, so thats good.
Thank you.
Download G935 U 4files firmware (qualcomm edition, no verison-tmobile-sprint-att bloatware).
My g935a phone is g935u firmware, and work perfectly.

I have already tried that and failed. I think the TMOBILE bootloader is more updated or something and so you cant flash to a previous version of the bootloader. IDK, maybe someone can explain it better?

Need help with odin and firmware

So they other night i tried rooting my gs7 edge. Found a tutorial online and flashed a file via odin. And upon rebooting ended up freezing on the AT&T boot logo. which seemed to a common problem after reading the comments. The only way was to do a factory reset which i did and got the phone working again. But now the phone is extremely sluggish it lags doing the simplest tasks. Now i want to start over and flash the stock firmware via odin but not sure what files to flash ive tried flashing couple different ones and odin has always failed. can some one point me to the right files i am a complete newb with samsung phones.
You could flash the u firmware
Your phones lagging because you have the engine kernel flashed.

Start over and avoid root ENG BOOT kernel ID garbage. I recommend just going to the U software until a real root method can be found.

Start over and avoid root ENG BOOT kernel ID garbage. I recommend just going to the U software until a real root method can be found.

Make sure you are using all 4 files (BL, AP, CSC, CS)
Also if you can boot into recovery first factory reset from there it will make the Odin flash cleaner.
If you keep getting an error you might need a different version of Odin. Use the one from U firmware thread it should work.
If it is stuck at setting up connections you may need to reinstall the drivers for your phone.
