Google's next version of Android will be known as Marshmallow.
Google today confirmed that it has selected the sugary treat as the next nickname for Android 6.0. At its I/O developer conference in May, the search giantannounced only that "Android M"*would be coming soon, but now the name is official. The Android statue collection at Google headquarters also*got a new addition today: a green android clutching a marshmallow.
Google today also revealed the official Android 6.0 SDK and opened Google Play for publishing Android Marshmallow apps. Download it via*Android Studio.
"With the Android 6.0 SDK you have access to the final Android APIs and the latest build tools so that you can target API 23," Google said in a*blog post.
Google also updated the Android Support Library to v23, which "makes it easier to integrate many of the new platform APIs, such as permissions and fingerprint support, in a backwards-compatible manner."
Developers can try it out on Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, and Nexus Player, which will receive an over-the-air (OTA) update over the next few days.
The first devices to get Android Marshmallow will probably be Google's next-gen Nexus devices. Over the weekend, images of what appears to be the LG Nexus phone*appeared on Twitter. Huawei is reportedly also*making a Nexus phone.
The news comes shortly after*OpenSignal found*that there are at least 24,093 distinct Android devices in the wild, which is up from 18,796 last year.
Will it hit on Xperia Z series!?
It is not out. Just SDK and preview builds for Nexus devices.

What the heck is this? Did you just copy paste someone's article with out double checking what you posted?
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
Should delete this misleading post.
1, Android 6 is Not out, the sdk, development tosh etc etc is released, as is the same for every version.
2, copied and pasted some boring article from the Web, or should say Trolled.
3, no mention of an Xperia in that post.
To sum up, Why post unrelated crap which is misleading on this Xperia z2 forum, the average guest or member may not understand what is meant by sdk etc and may indeed be confused why their phone isn't getting an android 6 update.
Just delete ya post and stop trolling rubbish like that.
Bye bye this topic
I own one of the ZTE Axon 7 pre-production/prototype phone. You can ask me anything, but I may choose not to answer your question if I think it is a sensitive question. I attached a few pictures below and the noticeable difference is this phone come with on-screen keys instead of capacitive keys.
To begin, I was one of the few ZTE Axon 7 Beta Tester back in April 2016 (I do not work for ZTE). I received this phone one-two months before they officially announce it in China on May 2016. I returned this phone to the company before I left the USA for my summer vacation in May. On October, this phone was given to me from one of the employees in ZTE upper-level management.
This phone is my daily driver and I love it! To clarify, the phone that I have is 2017U and have 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM.
How did you become a beta tester for ZTE?
Can you install an ordinary A7 firmware on this phone?
And which firmware version/build did you get initially?
Thanks.

The phone was running Android 6 when I first got it. It's just the same build as that you guys have. I was pretty worry when I was trying to upgrade to Android 7 during February since this phone is a little bit different because of the on screen key. However, I'm able to upgrade to the latest firmware like everyone has without issue. I do not root this phone due to the fact that Android has been getting to a point that I can do everything I want my installing app. When I started using Android 2.0, I had to root to get everything I want.
It started one day in BetaBound. I tested one of ZTE's low end devices. After that, I was contacted by them (targeted) to test a "premium device", which is A7. I don't do a lot testing. In 2016, I tested Axon 7 and Netgear Orbi (they contacted me like 9 months prior launch).
What about Axon 8? Have you tested this?

Nope. Don't have any clue about the next one yet.
Google's strong hand against defragmentation, manufacturers can only launch new phones with Android Oreo
Since you have to put the batteries, make Flyme for our Meizu Pro 5 or let install roms by opening the code. Flyme skip if they want Oreo (you have a few months left) and start with Android P
Hopefully someone can make a ROM for the Pro5, because if not nothing, darkness with Flyme. Change of mobile in a year or two (with 4 already well amortized) :fingers-crossed:
Google closed Nougat certification in March, all new Play Certified devices must launch with Oreo..clic here :good:
Android oreo will come to meizu in 2029 don't wait.
Go and buy another phone because Google kicked Meizu's ass i think.
Totally agree!!
Meizu Pro 5 with Flyme dies:
Flyme 5 .. Android 5.1
Flyme 6 ..
- Chinese version: January 2017 based on Marshmallow (Android 6.0)
-Global version July 2017 based on Lollipop (Android 5.1)
Flyme 7 .. based on Nougat (Android 7.1.2), are there a beta version now, I think (May 2018)
Flyme 8 .. based on Oreo, far far away
Flyme 9 .. based on P, I do not think we'll see him in this life!!
------
PD:
Nougat .. June 2016 (Meizu level now)
Oreo .. Agoust 2017
Android P .. Agoust 2018
-------
you wait seated or better don't wait!
I've been observing that Meizu decided to abandon Global market and concentrate on local Chinese market. And it is not that they are very up to date in the Chinese market. Also abandon Android rate
Chinese versions (A): Flyme 6.3.0.2A (Android 6) (2018-4-12)
It's not stable. Battery drain. Many chinese apps (they are easily deleted) and Google Play Store is a simulation. *The applications hang, the firmware is not friendly with google apps, "No suitable appstore found" in some apps. Stay on 6.1.0.0A if you can! but it's very old version based on Android 5.1. You have to returned to the old version of the firmware, becase this 6.3.0.2A can not be used.
International (global) versions (G): 6.1.0.0G (Android 5.1) but from Flyme 5.1.11.0G Google Mobile Services (GMS) was removed....
Resurrecction Remix with Android 7.1.2. very good, the best we have!! Thank you, Faust93!! Good job!!
Meizu oficial firmware (that running ok) is on Android 5.1.. It's very sad!! No?
Ahahahaha Flyme 8 on our PRO5 ?!
More probable to see the end of this world before this happens...
It is frustrating when you spend a lot of money on an Android mobile and you see that the "little time" becomes obsolete. In the next mobile that I bought I will look for a very good policy of updates both by the manufacturer and by the Xda community. Technology is like that, in two years any phone is already very old.
In our case we have three options: settle for what we have, resort to the only ROM if we do not have money or buy a new phone if we have it.
That your Android phone does not receive the latest updates both system and security yes, it is very bad. I am against all brands that do not.
The easiest thing is to buy a new one, but I'm going to try to extend the life of this phone a little longer, at the moment it's not bad with Nougat, to see if a ROM release or a new ROM with Oreo comes out. I do not expect anything new because it is old and almost nobody has it. While It's working, I'll continue with him. I also do not like the phones with Notch
I currently feel that the purchase of this mobile phone has not gone well, how I feel like changing it but I do not want to throw away the 400 euros that the Pro 5 cost in the trash.

Even Meizu has android N i dont understand why only 7.0 not 7.1. Many app not compatible with this android version.
Hello,
I am a user of Google Nexus 5 smartphone (hammerhead) and since a few weeks, there were less LineageOS updates.
We don't see for the moment this devices on roadmap support for LineageOS 15.x/16.x.
Is there any chance to have this version on Nexus 5 in the future ?
We'll really appreciate this, as we use daily LineageOS and love it !
Thanks in advance.

I don't have this specific device myself but, It looks like the last Official Lineage Team Maintainer no longer has this device any longer that resulted in it being dropped Officially by LineageOS as seen on the following link.
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/hammerhead
This doesn't mean that all is lost for this device...
There's a handful of other Custom Firmware (to include Unofficial LineageOS builds) within the following area of the forum that's specific to your device as well.

Good Luck!

Recent Android on Nexus 5
Thanks for your reply and information Ibuprophen
I just check some others alternatives of LineageOS ROM for Nexus 5 and Oreo, but for most, it seems not yet available or not really updated regularly (and we especially take care of monthly software Security Patch).
We'll have to check, but if someone know a well maintained Oreo ROM for Nexus 5, this may be probably the good solution.
Finally, Nexus 5 hardware is great, and I suppose that several users continue to have them currently and will be happy to have a recent Android software with regular updates.
Many Thanks!
U may want to check e.foundation. they're currently supporting the Lineage 14.1 base for the N5. I don't know if you'll like the project. But you can check and see.
Do you guys think we will get Android 10 update?
Yup. Asus has confirmed that max pro M1 will get android Q. They made this statement during release of 9 pie.

Its not confirmed and honestly don't keep high hopes.
I remember Asus promising two major updates to ZMP M1 at launch. A Q&A session with one of their official also indicated this. BUT "major system update" cannot be conclusively termed as Android P & Q if we go by the track record of companies. In fact, we have seen brands go back on their solemn promise (Moto ?) only to face backlash and then provide a delayed update.
Long story short - we have a good probability of getting Q but don't bet your life on it - not yet !
yes definitely we will get Android 10 on Pro M1 but in 2020 when google is about to launch android 11....remember android pie released officially by google and asus gave that after almost 10 months passed....with beta program and still too many bugs....we all know that asus camera result is so poor....IT IS STRICTLY NECESSARY ASUS SHOULD COMPLETELY CHANGE THEIR SOFTWARE ENGINEER TEAM OTHERWISE IT WILL LOSE MOBILE BUSINESS...
What about custom Rom development of Android 10, it has been officially launched today.
Here I have found an easy way! Unlock Bootloader Asus ROG Phone 2
If we get android 10 (no hopes though) camera2api will be enabled by default as Google made it compulsory in aosp. Possible?

Compulsory? Since what version? I hope they ditch the Snapdragon Camera in favour of a good Google Camera.
