Hello,
I am a user of Google Nexus 5 smartphone (hammerhead) and since a few weeks, there were less LineageOS updates.
We don't see for the moment this devices on roadmap support for LineageOS 15.x/16.x.
Is there any chance to have this version on Nexus 5 in the future ?
We'll really appreciate this, as we use daily LineageOS and love it !
Thanks in advance.

I don't have this specific device myself but, It looks like the last Official Lineage Team Maintainer no longer has this device any longer that resulted in it being dropped Officially by LineageOS as seen on the following link.
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/hammerhead
This doesn't mean that all is lost for this device...
There's a handful of other Custom Firmware (to include Unofficial LineageOS builds) within the following area of the forum that's specific to your device as well.

Good Luck!

UNLESS asked to do so, PLEASE don't PM me regarding support. Sent using The ClaRetoX Forum App on my Enigma Machine {aenigma = Latin for "Riddle"}.
Recent Android on Nexus 5
Thanks for your reply and information Ibuprophen
I just check some others alternatives of LineageOS ROM for Nexus 5 and Oreo, but for most, it seems not yet available or not really updated regularly (and we especially take care of monthly software Security Patch).
We'll have to check, but if someone know a well maintained Oreo ROM for Nexus 5, this may be probably the good solution.
Finally, Nexus 5 hardware is great, and I suppose that several users continue to have them currently and will be happy to have a recent Android software with regular updates.
Many Thanks!
U may want to check e.foundation. they're currently supporting the Lineage 14.1 base for the N5. I don't know if you'll like the project. But you can check and see.

In paper our Nexus player is much more capable than Remix mini and so i was wondering if there has been any work porting the remix os to our device?
When I found out about Remix OS this morning, I had the exact same thought. Sadly, google only turns up this thread, so I guess it hasn't gone anywhere yet.

It says here that it's available for x86 devices - like the Nexus player - but all i can find are some PC based installation instructions here. I'm wondering if it flashes the same way as other ROMS like Lollirock? I'm too much of a newbie to know any more. One good thing to note, however, is that you can purchase a whole 'Remix mini' for just $70!!
I was thinking the same thing but with only 1GB of RAM, the Nexus Player isn't going to like doing multitasking.
(I know they sell a model of their MiniPC with 1GB of RAM but I still think it's not enough to provide a decent experience)
I've been wondering the same for a while. Regardless of the 1GB RAM, I think it would run fairly good for light web browsing. The developers themselves have a device for sale with the same amount of RAM and running Remix OS, so i see no reason for this not to exist
I actually wrote to them and linked them to this page to show that there was an interest for this, bringing up how they've ported it to the Nexus 9 and 10, and they actually replied with
"Greetings from Jide!
Thank you for your Feedback. I have marked it as a feature request. Our engineering team will take care it. Please don't hesitate to let us know, if you need further assistance.
Best,
-The Remix Team"
So there may actually be some hope for this!

Well I'm really hoping for this to materialize. This whole day I've been using the latest beta on my Mac, like for real this time, and this makes way more sense than Android TV in terms of usability and compatibility, is more open and way less limited than android tv.
Hi
What is the reason for not supporting 6P?
I was slightly disappointed to only see 5X on the list.
The 6P is being worked on and is on pre-nightly status.
Look in the 6P Android Developement section for the OmniROM thread and read page10.
It may be a while for it to get the official tag, but you can already enjoy it.

Same reason as any other device might not be supported - maintainer either does not exist or is too busy.
I know someone was working on it, but I'm not sure where they are.
Back when Nexus devices were heavily subsidized, they were "insta-buys" for any developer to have a recent AOSP reference device. Once they stopped heavily subsidizing them with the original 6, many of us had to start asking ourselves, "Do we ACTUALLY want this device as anything other than a development reference?" - which is why my latest Nexus device is a hammerhead. Too many of my Nexus devices would wind up just collecting dust.

That's unfortunate.
6p is very good device. Much better then my HTC m9.
We are going to introduce several important members of Flyme. And the first issue of this series would be----- face to face Q&A with the System Development Manager --- Pony Chou.
Introduction:
Pony Chou, joined Meizu in 2007, is one of the key developers of Flyme. After several years of hardworking and brilliant performance, he became the Technical Director of Flyme in 2013. And this year, after a major department structure adjustment inside Flyme, he is appointed as the general manager of Flyme System Development.
(FF would be Flyme Forum)
FF: Hi Pony, thank you for your time to do this interview. I think most of our forum users are not that familiar with your work, can you briefly describe your work so that they can know a little more?
Pony: OK. Greetings to all Flyme Forum users. As you can see now I am the general manager of Flyme System Development, which means my main job is to make Flyme a better system, to lead the team --- actually we have several teams for different system modules --- to build a system that is more smooth, stable and power-saving.
FF: That sounds an incredibly complicated job. What part did you work on, when you first join Meizu?
Pony: Well, like everybody else, I started with the very basic work, coding, solving bugs... When I joined the project of Flyme, I was in charge of the multi-media part, like music, video, etc. And after 2 years I was shifted to do the system frameworks and apps, and after that I was appointed to supervise this whole Flyme project.
FF: As Flyme's technical director?
Pony: Yes.
FF: So, I got a few questions about Flyme that are concerned by our forum users. The first one would be when Flyme 5 is going to rollout Android 6?
Pony: The new models which will be released in 2016 will all built on Androd 6.
FF: And what about those models before 2016? Will Flyme provide an update?
Pony: I think for previous models, the main task for Flyme is to keep the firmware as stable and smooth as possible. Android 6 has not much modifications or highlights in functions. Some functions sucn as permission control, fingerprint, fast charge, etc are actually already acheived on Flyme 5. If we cannot upgrade to Android 6, we'll do our best to add more features to Flyme to compensate that.
FF: That's really exciting. Then when would Flyme 5 be available for models other than MX5 and PRO 5?
Pony: We actually have done it in Chinese mainland, but for global version, we need to do more testing for compatibility and performance. So please feel assured because Flyme 5 WILL be available for every device after MX4.
FF: So MX4 and MX4 Pro are also getting Flyme 5?
Pony: Yes. It might take longer time, but it will be available for these two models.
FF: As long as we are here, I think many users would have the same confusion as mine: why global version is always way too behind the Chinese version?
Pony: Flyme was not that internationalized before, but as we are getting more and more users around the globe, we have to consider more about users outside China. Thus for every version that is going to be released, we have to test the compatibility first. We got many feedbacks that some apps are not working properly on Flyme, that's the issue we're going to fix here. And also, we need time to translate the system languages.
FF: So will it still be several months gap between A and G versions?
Pony: There will be, but much closer. This year we're trying to release G version only 1 month later than A version.
FF: That's great. Our users will be delighted.
FF: There is another issue related to upgrading. What is the updating cycle for every device model?
Pony: You mean Flyme monthly or weekly firmware upgrading?
FF: No I mean after a model is released, how long will Flyme provide upgrade for each model?
Pony: Well, it is safe to say that we guarantee the updating for each model will at least last 24 months.
FF: So the models get upgrades in at least 2 years. What about the open source issue of Flyme? A lot of users were asking about that, will Flyme be open-sourced?
Pony: The kernel code will be released, but the Flyme part will not be open-sourced. We are an OS with system-level customization, it's not likely to open the source code.
FF: Flyme did adaptations for other brands, will we be doing that in the future?
Pony: Yes, on some popular devices such as Samsung, OnePlus, Mi or other brands.
FF: About the Flyme versions, what's the differences between A and G version, or IN version?
Pony: The system features are basically the same. What's different is the content provided in each version. Right now we have few multi-media content in G or IN version, but we are now contacting international content providers, try to bring more services to our users.
FF: Then compare to other smartphone operating systems, what do you think is the highlight of Flyme?
Pony: The first impression of most users is that Flyme is very light colored, and the visual design is nicer than most of the other operating systems. And for the perfomance, Flyme, especially Flyme 5 is really smooth and some users joked that it's so smooth it does not resemble any previous Meizu or Flyme product. And the features are easy to grasp, users can learn it instantly because the interactions are also very simple but effective.
FF: Thanks for your patient answers, one more, we know that Meizu will be having a launch event in India around April, will we be expecting your attendance?
Pony: I might. Maybe I can be a mysterious guest among all the fans.
FF: Great! Can you say something to our forum users?
Pony: Thanks for continually contributing to this forum and to Flyme. We'll listen to you, and cherish every feedback and suggestion. Flyme will be better! Thank you.
FF: Thank you, Pony.

Are you a member of FlymeOS Forum or a member of meizu company?
From the interview I understand that all the devices before 2016 will not have Marshmallow!
Because versions 14.1 and 15.1 are not actually versions but refers to Android N and Android O, why not use "Lineage N" and "Lineage O"?
We could name the builds "Lineage X x.x.x Nightly"
"X" could be the letter of the android version it works with
"x.x.x" could be the Lineage OS true version
"Nightly" could be the status, for example "Nightly" "Beta" or "Release"
To ty knowledge, this originates from back in the CM days. Though I wasn't into ROMs at the time, i think CM jumped to a new digit when the Android version did not. For example, CM10 for Android 4.1 and CM11 for Android 4.4.

@Jrhotrod is correct but, just to add to that response...
The Version Numbering sequence actually began prior to CyanogenMod.
Before CyanogenMod, the developments were known simply as "Cyanogen". The Cyanogen had, what's known now, the GApps already built in.
After Google had (legally) demanded that they stop this practice (Cease and Desist), of having the GApps built in, they then changed their name to CyanogenMod and bumped up the version numbering.
LineageOS initially released their developments based on the two CyanogenMod 13 & 14 releases and still uses this on those areas of the LineageOS that they haven't yet severed from it.
The bottom line as to its version numbers is because needed to distinguish their Android versions apart from the Google versions to prevent any conflicts/confusions/etc... with the Google Version numbers.
This is just an abridged version of the story and, if you would like, try checking out the full stories on the following links.

I DO NOT provide support via PM unless asked/requested by myself. PLEASE keep it in the threads where everyone can share.
"N" is the 14th letter in the English alphabet and "O" is the 15th and if Lineage called them ANYTHING that one of the world's largest corporations with the deepest financial pockets and best hired gun attorneys one can possibly imagine could latch onto as the basis to litigate them out of existence in the blink of an eye ...... any more questions ?

Hello!
I am again, after just 2 years, in a phase of searching for a new mobile device with a good official LineageOS support. And hopefully long support. But somehow I do not know on what my decision should be based. Maintainers are picking up support and dropping it by their own choice and for users there is no predictability.
I find this very problematic, specially if you are determined to use only official LineageOS and you base you purchase merely on that.
Official LineageOS wants to be a trusted, long-lasting system and also available on many devices. But this picking up and dropping of support for an individual phone models is sadly making LineageOS just one of many costum ROMs.
In my opinion, they (stuff, leadership,..) should (maybe even with contributions to few specific developers) "commit" to support FEW devices for a LONG PERIOD. Maybe even just for 1 device in a budget range, 1 in a middle class and 1 a in high class. I would be even prepared to pay for such support. On the other hand, other devices could be further supported in a way that are now - someone picks it up and supports it until the support is dropped. Developer's choice, their kindness, their time, their device choice. But for few devices, more predictable support would be very welcome.
This right there, an insurance of a long-time support (maybe at least 3 or 4 years (?)) for just few devices, would in my opinion rise LineageOS above all other costum ROMs.
In my case, 2 years ago I picked myself a device based merely on a LineageOS statistics website. I wanted to degoogle myself, so official LineageOS (more specifically, LineageOS for microg, which is dependent on official LineageOS, because I needed push messages for 1 specific app) was the best or even only choice. But how to select a device. On a FIRST place on a website stats.lineageos.org has been Mido (Xiaomi Redmi Note 4), so I selected it, of course, in a hope for a good, long term support. It was the device with most official LineageOS installs, good specifications and good P/P value. Even now, it is still very high at 14th place, but support has been dropped 2 times until now. But sure, I cannot complain about developers, they are doing it for free. I am truly grateful for their time, I have even donated to Lineage few times.
I hope the leadership of LineageOS will read this. In my opinion, they will be only able to expand and to exist for a long time, if they provided "guaranteed" long time support for few selected devices. Right now, I am searching for such device, but do not know, which one to pick. Because now, it is just a question "Which device do you think has good and long support?".
Now most of users say Pocophone F1 (or Xiaomi Mi A1) is best budget choice for great support, but hey, this model is from 2018 and in 1 year support could be questionable, just like it was with Mido, even thou it was on the first place as the most used device. I do not want to look again for a new device in 1 year. I could, but would rather have one for as many years, until it breaks. I have small needs, I do not care, how device looks, I do not need new flagship every 2 years (it is a consumerist idiocy), I just need a working, safe, updated, private, deegoogled phone, few specific trusted apps and a case. And a long, official Lineage support, because I trust you guys.
Please consider my suggestion, I am sure it is not a new one. I am sure it would be good for everyone.
Thank you for all good work and greetings!
Full ACK! I have the same problem.
Maybe, the "e Foundation" is a solution? (Google after "e Foundation")
I think exactly the same. Something like 3 phones in 3 three different price ranges but with long LineageOS support. Possible payed version of LOS.
