Google keyboard pixel sounds - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

So I had a pixel xl that I ended up returning, but the short time I had the phone I really fell in love with the keyboard sounds it made, I have already found all the sound files, but now is there anyway I can use the pixel keyboard sound files with my Google keyboard without root?? I tried browsing and was able to locate in system/media/ui but I'm unable to replace the files, any help is appreciated

Help me out please, noob
Can someone help me out. I flashed Nougat on a clean s7e using the Home CSC from my country (not the included CSC which was BTU). Now my original CSC is missing when I checked Phone Info, I performed a factory reset and used Smart Switch Emergency to flash the original firmware but its still blank. How would I go back?
Its a s7e unlocked TPA Pamama
thank you

Without root, I'm afraid you can't.

Sure. But you need to post your question in the appropriate thread. This is about keyboard sounds.

Soft Bricked A800F

I successfully rooted my Samsung Galaxy A8(Indian variant A800F). While experimenting withe the DPI values by ROM Manager's build.prop editor I made the mistake of changing it to 160. So all the UI elements were gone(Icons, Notification Bar, etc).
Then I had the bright Idea of resetting the phone which somehow did not revert to the original DPI settings. This in turn disabled USB Debugging and now I'm unable to use ADB. Moreover the FRP Lock is turned on too so I guess Download Mode won't work either.
The only thing I can do right now is taking screen shots and turning the phone off(Shutdown Dialogue Box is visible too). I did not take a backup at the time nor did I flash any recovery.
Hope I made my issue clear.
Now what options do I have left?
Can re-flashing the firmware do the trick?
Would the Samsung service centre guys re-flash the firmware even after the KNOX getting tripped off. Or I'll have to do that myself?
Any sort of help is highly appreciated. Thanks!
Yes you should be able to flash stock firmware again but no guarantee it'll work. All you need to do is get the original firmware from sammobile and Odin, downloaded both, extract all the Odin files to your PC, also extract the md5.tar file from the firmware zip, boot to download and connect, if it connects then that's a start, once connected click "ap" box and choose the firmware you just downloaded, wait a couple of mins for Odin to check the md5 is correct then hit start.

Great. Will try that and post the results.
Just wanted to ask if this manual procedure may somehow make my situation even worse. Or is it completely safe to flash?
Really don't want to get into a deeper mess.
And thanks for the quick response

This shouldn't be a problem so let me help. First some questions...
1. From which carrier/country is your phone?
2. Does it have a network lock?
3. Is it the Model number SM-G950F?
4. Which files did you flash via Odin (please type the actual filenames) and with which settings in Odin?
5. If you go into Settings - About phone - Software information - Service provider software. Please tell me the first and third line there under this point.

Hi,
1. Bought from Vodafone UK
2. Removed lock by code
3 G950F
4 Sorry don't have access to my laptop now but I've
Downloaded latest btu software from sammobile
unpacked it and used as per instructions. Tried using either home_csc or the other one but no luck either
Settings tried just standard and tried pit and reformat didn't work either
5. SAOMC_SM-G950F-OXM_XEU_077
XEU/XEU/VOD
when go into recovery it's still VOD tho
You have done all you could do.
You needed to flash with normal CSC NOT with HOME_CSC to change the CSC.
Your new CSC is XEU!
It still shows XEU/XEU/VOD because VOD is the original CSC of your phone. This is new for the S8 and could not be changed! But normally you will get OTA updates for your new XEU CSC just fine! And any Vodafone-Apps should also be removed.
So everything is like on Samsung devices debranded bevore - beside that the factory CSC is hard branded inside the phone. But thats just optical. Everything else works like it is an XEU CSC.

Are you sure about that? In the past if you didnt change properly the CSC after unbranding your phone you werent getting OTA updates anymore, i've read on SamMobile you gotta use Smart Switch using the serial number of a phone you know has that CSC, but i dont know how to find one, no one answered me on here. I'm thinking of going into a store and look at the exhibition one, but im afraid it's not legal to do that.

New flashed rom has things I never had

Hi guys!
So I have a S7E 935F unlocked.
I tried to root the device and did everything as written and shown in every tutorial but it failed to do so.
After flashing recovery TWRP and trying to flash SuperSU the device just got into a boot loop.
I was reading around and understood that this is a problem due to encryption of the FS.
So I downloaded my firmware from sammobile and flashed my device again, everything got back to normal.
Well, almost normal. The rom I have has the same build number, version, kernel, everything is the same as the original one only that I have things in the settings menu I never has, like I have "apps" twice, one for apps permissions etc and one for apps manager, I also have "T roaming" no idea what it is, never had it, I have "service provider KT twophone".
Also the settings app crash a lot, browser gets stuck a lot, can't change system language to English (app crash).
At the home screen I Samsung Pay which I never had and I have some sort of a news app integrated on my home screen and it's marked with two stripes.
I verified this is a global rom for my country, not by any mobile company as before, I really don't have a clue what to do.
Can someone please advise?
T roaming and KT twophone service are both from korean carriers, maybe you have a wrong CSC installed or your /efs/imei/mps_code.dat is messed up.
Try to download and install the latest firmware of your region using Samfirm and if it still doesn't solve the problem, open up /efs/imei/mps_code.dat and see if matches your region name.
OK so I D/L the firmware again and same thing...
I checked /efs folder and its empty, maybe the content is hidden? Anyways my device has its IMEI and I can use it to make calls... thoughts?

You need smart switch on your pc, enter your imei number in smart switch and it will download correct firmware according to your imei, then flash it. Good Luck

Hello, this smart switch method is obsolete. Use odin to re-flash your stock rom in case of any issues. Be sure to use correct and matching binary firmware.

Change Thai S8 to UK

Hi all,
I'm totally new to Android after taking my iphone for a swim in Thailand (which is completely destroyed). I needed a phone for hotel reservations etc, so I decided to upgrade to an S8, bought at a Samsung outlet in Tesco in Thailand.
I live in the UK, so would like to be able to access all UK features (chiefly of all, Samsung/Android pay - not fussed which), along with not having to pay in Baht in the Play Store. Support have been 0 help, basically telling me I'm SOOL. I've read online about changing the CSC code, but I'd really appreciate some advice about whether this is possible and how I'd go about doing this. I'm not really worried about my warranty as apparently it's not valid in the UK. I'm more concerned about bricking my phone/making it unusable or a pain to operate.
Can anyone help/point me in the direction of an easy to follow guide? I'd be extremely grateful!
My model number is SM-G950FD
Thanks,
Dom
The easiest way is to flash via Odin UK specific firmware. So on Sam mobile I use the EVR firmware for EE UK, they have different ones for the major carriers
OK cool. I'm sure I can find a guide for that, but I have a couple of questions:
- what are the ramifications of this? Will it bork any part of my phone? Are there any other risks I should be aware of?
- will I be able to back up and restore my phone, but with the new firmware?

It will be completely stock you will be fine. In terms of backup & restore the same as you would normally. Naturally you won't have TWRP root etc for proper backup.
but since you want samsung pay to work you cant have those anyway
link to all samsung 950f firmware https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s8/SM-G950F/
Once you find which you want & assuming your not a member of the site you will get very slow download speeds go here (if you're a member it's really fast)
https://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model to download.
So I just attempted to flash to BTU. Downloaded the appropriate firmware, then attempted to flash via Odin (BL, AP, CP & CSC (not home)), including a factory reset.
When I restart the device, it reboots in Thai! Any suggestions?
Thanks!

first factory reset. then flash home instead of csc + all the others, should work. If it doesn't change language in the phone first then repeat the steps just given.
You may have a problem only in that because you are not rooted or have custom recovery It defaults to what it was when 1st setup it has frp (factory reset protection). but as I said should work

OK cool - so I've followed these steps exactly and I've ended up with XEU/XEU/THL. Play Store etc still in Baht. Not really sure where to go from here!
Im afraid thats as far as I can help. Without root or twrp. Hopefully someone else will be able to assist
I just tried downloading the 3 UK firmware (my carrier is 3), and I get a 3 boot screen, but the Play Store etc is still in Baht. This is immensely frustrating!
Perhaps if you Google how to reset FRP?

Settings apps messed up 8.0

Hi guys,
Yesterday, I installed the official 8.0 update through Odin. Right off the bat, I noticed the settings app was completely broken. I extracted the APK off of another rom on XDA but it didn't change.
I should point out most of the sub-menus available are not clickable, it's just plain text.
Do any of you experience this or am I the only one? Thanks.
How was Odin set during installation? I mean settings, files you used.

I used the files found in the official zip over on sammobile and the options in Odin were the default one, I haven't changed anything
First of all - 15 kB/s? You are patient There were better sites to download the firmware from.
Second of all, I think you've flashed home_csc (without factory reset). In situations like this doing factory reset really can help (or try flashing phone again now using csc instead of home_csc). Quite "generic" help I know buuut those things may just work for you.
If you don't want to lose data, you can wait. Maybe someone else can help

I used another link provided by an user on the forum on the mega thread "Official stock firmware". I checked and everything was correct so I assume it is the right version of the software.
I actually didn't flash home_csc. I wasn't sure what that was so I didn't want to flash some weird stuff so I left it out.
As far as I remember, I haven't had these problems with leaked vietnamese rom or with s9+ ports. However, I had this problem with the TWRP bump we had on the forum a couple of days ago but the additional options disappeared after a couple of seconds, not sure what was going on.
Did you fixed the problem ?
Yeah you flash the non-home_csc or do a factory reset in recovery mode. It's the system settings data from previous firmware conflicting with it which can only be fixed that way.
