screen rotation issue with videos - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

After this last security update when watching any video be it YouTube, mx player, etc, when I'm watching the screen will randomly rotate and then go back to the normal. This is causing YouTube to pause and then I gotta press play again. On mx player it just rotates then goes back to normal.
Anyone experiencing this issue?

Video Player grinds to a halt

Is anyone experiencing any issues with the builtin video player? I am currently on cm4.2.7 and have experienced this on others too, I will be streaming a video from youtube or other media websites and to begin with the player will work ok but after a while (couple of minutes) the videos start to stutter and eventually it fails.
I had to go back to my old stock rom for a few hours today and found that when I used the video player on that I had no problem at all.
Any ideas?

My video playback not showing pictrue...How about yours?

I just noticed that after the OTA my video playback is not showing any picture, just sound. I've tried double twist, gallery, and vplayer to play a movie from the gallery to no avail. From within gallery does your video work? I've noticed that if i move the placement further along into the video the picture will show, but not from a dead start. Can anyone else check and let me know if theirs is working fine.
This only requires you to see a video from you gallery to reply.

I am having this issue as well and I have not gotten the OTA yet, before the video I shot would play fine now I just get the audio. I tried movies, rockplayer and vplayer and none work.
Edit: I powered off phone, removed battery, pulled out my sd card and then reinserted it worked and now I can watch my recordings again
Im getting the same issue. The videos will play fine at first but then issues come up mainly the blank screen. It will get fixed by rebooting the phone but then it will happen again later. The problem mainly happes when I'm watching a video then pause it for any reason or if I don't pause and back out, when I try to go back to see it again, the screen is blank with sound.never happened before the ota
I just did a simple reboot and it worked fine again.

i know a reboot fixes it but the problem comes back. watch if it happens to you again, remember what you did when it happened, do a reboot, then do what you did before, if nothing happens, then theres no problem, but if the screen goes blank again, then theres a problem.
at first i thought it was cause i was using rockplayer, but the default movies player would mess up also. but its interesting, because in rockplayer, is i choose software decoding, the video will play, but will lag badly. the sound will be way ahead of the video. but if i switch back to hardware decoding, it just plays sound with a blank screen.

YouTube freezes & causes all other videos to stop working

I've got a strange issue with YouTube thats causing all video files on the phone to stop working (playing)
YouTube is working ok, but if I pause any video thats playing & let the screen time out (turn off) when I return back to the phone the youtube video doesnt 'unpause' & then youtube freezes. I get the 'Youtube isnt responding' dialog box & I can kill the application. The samething happens is I try to skip through the video using the slider at the bottom.
The really odd thing about this though is that after this freeze happens I cannot play ANY video on the phones (avi, mp4 etc) using MX Player or the normal player. I just get the 'waiting' circle. I need to restart the phone.
Anyone got any ideas whats going on?
Cheers.
It could be the ROM you're on.

Using stock ROM, 4.2.1
Happens to me too, but I'm not sure about other videos stopping working after youtube crashes. Usually have to reboot my phone to fix it. It also happens (always) when I'm playing a video from my data/wifi and then switch from data/wifi to wifi/data, if that makes sense?
Hopefully will be fixed soon.
Happens to me too on my stock N4, very annoying especially if I want to seek half way through a long video. Seems to be OK on wifi. It also happens if I try and play an HQ video over my data connection. So seems like there's no fix for this yet? Argh!

Good video player suggestion?

Hey, peeps. I use my phone to follow some twitch streamers. Problem is that my battery won't last as long as the stream.
The solution is to just listen to the streamer instead of watching thr video (I watch it for the funny commentary).
I can do this with an app called Ace and any third party video player.
This is where my actual problem starts. I have audio lag when the screen is off. When it's turned on it is ok. When I turn it off the audio starts to stutter. I can't figure out why. I've tried different settings.
I'm running full performance settings on my phone.
I tried MX Player, BSPlayer and VLC Player. VLC doesn't seem to have the stuttering issue but it also doesn't allow me to fast forward or backward (on a past broadcast).

Did you try different kernel/roms? It sounds to me like your cpu/gpu scales to low when screen is off.

I am on Resurrection Remix with Alucard kernel running the extreme performance profile.
Videos stored on my device don't sutter (even with the screen off). It happens only when streaming. And it's not buffering lag, since it works well with the screen on.
I'll try turning cortexbrain off. Since it supposedly puts the phone into a battery friendly state when the screen is off.

Video playback issues - Screen goes black

I've had the Nexus 6P for a month now and video playback has always been wonky
Every few minutes the video and audio feed cuts out and then comes back a second later. It happens on Mx Player and VLC and it's infuriating me. Was thinking of trying a custom rom to see if this fixed it.
Anyone else have similar issues or some advice?
