Hello,
I have a problem with the NFC. It is active but the applications it uses do not recognize active NFC.
Is there another option active?
For info I'm on X720 rom stock 18s no root.
thank you
No, this is the only option to enable.
What exactly do you mean with "the applications it uses do not recognize active NFC"?
Does the application show you an error? Or does your app work normally but is not detecting any NFC tags?
In the second case: be aware that the NFC antenna is not placed in the middle of the phone but near the top so you have to hold the NFC tags near the upper end of your phone.

yes, the applications it uses do not recognize active NFC.
Yes, it does not detect tags either.
I tried "easy nfc" on the playstore and it does not detect the active nfc.
I don't know what "Easy NFC" is supposed to do, but it doesn't seem to be an NFC reader app. It also doesn't work on my other test devices.
Try "NFC TagInfo by NXP" instead which is made directly by NXP (the same company which also produces the NFC hardware chip in your phone) and it also supports a wide range of NFC tags.
thanks, I'll try.
Not sure if this helps, but I found that NFC works at the camera area instead of the bottom half of the phone. Worth a shot, because I know I got worried when I tried to test NFC as well.
@ saikouOtaku
Thank you, I try next time.

Hello all,
Managed to find part of the R800 series service manuals.
Contained in zip is:
R800_Component Replacement.pdf
R800_schematics.pdf
Hopefully we can dig up whats missing
I see FM support,
a nfc board that's not connected,
and the menu button on the gamepad was supposed to be a psn button.
The gamepad has an unconnected chip for keyboard background lighting.
An unconnected chip for analog video out.
Those are things that caught my attention.

I took a look at it, again...
And PM8058 got my attention... take a look:

NFC is a small module in PM8058 chip, and its driver is a sub device of pmic8058 core driver. Adding this sub device field to make it work.

This driver is made specifically for MSM7X30, PM8058.
After googling, I found that PM8058 is a multi-purpose chip. Bluetooth, PWM, etc...
However, I can't find PM8058 datasheet. Can anyone get me that?
Update: pmic8058-nfc source is present in SE's kernel source.
Now, I need datasheet to find out what's the actual purpose of B15 pin (labeled as NFC_EXT_EN).
Update 2: NFC_EXT_EN stands for something like "external enabling of NFC". It's not connected so we can't turn it on via SW, unless the driver monitors NFC_EXT_EN and acts according to it's state, so we could just bypass that monitoring and keep it always enabled (simplest way of enabling).
From what I found out pm8058 is powermanagement. It has capability of controlling power to an external nfc chip, but that's all. Just powermanagement. Not nfc in itself.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
You're right... no NFC chip in our phones...
But what about FM? Some pins are connected, some are not...
Not sure if there is a chip, but I can say that this chip is only for powrmanagement to control the power of any other external chips. That some FM connectors are connected probably mean that SE is using this to control some other device
please need component placement part of service manuale
OK, so I have a Nexus 7 and a Galaxy S3. Both have NFC and it is turned on for each. Android Beam is also enabled.
I pull up a video on the S3 and bring it close to the N7 and the S3 video screen shrinks and the "Touch to Beam" prompt appears, so I tap the S3 screen. Then an animated graphic appears and the message "Ready to send files via S beam. Separate devices". In the status line on top of the S3 there is a downloading symbol flashing.
Then I slowly seperate the devices till they lay side by side. The S3 status line no longer shows a download and it continues to play the video; the N7 shows the message "New tag collected" and under it it says "text/directsharevideo". The N7 screen is unresponsive unless I use the home key to exit.
I have no evidence of anything actually being transmitted between the devices.
What am I doing wrong?
p.s. I did search both Google and XDA. If anyone can suggest a better search string than the title, please do.
I think you need JB for transmitting videos/images via NFC and the S3 is only rocking ICS.
Thanks for the heads up
I believe its to do with the tech they use to transmit after the NFC handshake.
GS3 uses WiFi to transmit and N7 used bluetooth.
I dont believe they are compatible, they can use tags no problem, but GS3 can only use NFC with other phones using WiFi Direct tech.
Hope this helps
Android Beam was not designed to send large files (NFC transfer protocol itself is very slow)
This is why Samsung made S-Beam on their s3 (NFC + Wifi Direct) so you can transfer any files you want, the only issue is both devices need to have s-beam.

Android Beam, from Jelly Bean upwards, uses NFC to initiate a Bluetooth connection. It's now possible to transfer larger files with Android Beam, though not as quickly as S-beam.
if you want to connect from android device to android device for transmitting media, check this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.budius.WiFiShoot
this was developed by yours truly, and I developed it exactly because I noticed there was nothing out there for WiFi Direct
I tested it between Nexus 7, Galaxy Nexus, Asus TF300 and Galaxy SII (stock ICS) and all worked fine.
The most problematic of those were the Galaxy Nexus that now always want to connect, but between N7-GalaxySII was flawless.
At the moment the app just works for photo and video but I'll be expanding more, if you guys fancy helping spreading the word about it, I'm really looking forward to see the downloads explode on it.
Hi guys,
is anyone with interested in beta test my WiFi Direct app?
I started a new thread in the development section asking for Logcats if you're experiencing force close.
Also it's a cut down version of the .apk there to test part of the system.

any help will be great appreciated.
thanks.
Has anyone successfully been able to use a bluetooth barcode scanner while at the same time use the device keyboard (Samsung Keyboard or Google Keyboard)? I have an Inateck BCST-10 that I am trying to connect to my Galaxy Tab 4 10.1". Whenever I pair the barcode scanner to the tab, it does not allow me to use my device keyboard for text input. Typically one might go to the settings menu and change the keyboard to whatever you wanted to by tapping "Select Input Method". However, when I connect the bluetooth barcode scanner, this option does not appear in the settings menu. It disappears and reappears as soon as the scanner is disconnected. I am trying to use this setup in a manufacturing environment to track barcoded goods and materials from location to location at a single plant. So, I need to be able to scan a barcode and then key in some data without disconnecting and reconnecting the scanner every time. Thanks in advance for the help! Much appreciated!
You need the right scanner.....
Most scanners don't have that ability. I think that on the BCST-10, you pull the trigger 2x quickly (at least in iOS, don't know about Android)
Barcodeguy dot com bluetooth barcode scanners can disconnect (and pop up the soft keypad) by pressing the side button. Just press the side button again to make the soft keypad disappear.
Let me know if this helps!

Has anyone gotten ANT+ to work? I read that people were using on the 3T. There was an app needed on my Nexus 6 to get it activated but it doesn't support the OP5.
I haven't been able to get it to work either. If you use the ANT+ Tester app, it shows that there's a hardware module installed but gives no method for accessing it. Have you had any luck since?

I found this thread with people claiming that it works but no one has provided an specifics.

I have installed all the required files but it does not work for me.

I figured out how to get it to work, unfortunately it requires a factory reset.
It looks like if you try to use ANT+ without first having the drivers installed it creates a sort of mutex where the app trying to access it "claims" the ANT+ usage and doesn't allow the drivers to be updated.
What worked for me:
- factory reset
- install all ANT+ drivers
- attempt to connect to ANT+ device (successful)
What did not work:
- uninstalling all ANT+ related apps (Endomondo, Stava, etc.)
- uninstalling all ANT+ drivers
- wiping all cache/system caches
- reinstalling ANT+
- reinstalling ANT+ related apps
Thanks. At least that is a solution. Im about to go out of town on vacation and don't have time to go through a full backup and restore process right now but I'll try it when I get back.
I've just began to factory reset my phone to try and get ANT+ working. I'll let you know if it works soon.
**EDIT**
Nope.
I did a "Settings -> Backup & Restore -> Factory Data Reset" without wiping "Internal Storage".
First thing i did was install all the ANT+ apps, Radio Service, Plugin apps, and heart rate app.
Heart Rate Monitor not detected, some sort of "Adaptor not available" error flash box.
I tested my HRM on the partners Xperia Z5 last night and it worked fine.
I'm now doing a wipe including internal storage to see if that makes a difference.
Nope. No difference.
The "ANT Tester" app looks just like this - https://imgur.com/NSCTYPd
The ANT+ Heart Rate Grapher gives the error:
"ANT Adaptor Not Available. Built-in ANT hardware or external adaptor required."
The ANT+ Plugin Sampler gives the error:
"ANT Adaptor Not Available. Built-in ANT hardware or external adaptor required."
The ANT+ Demo app gives the error:
"Unrecognized result: ADAPTOR_NOT_DETECTED"
Well I was about to do a wipe and try it but I guess I won't now.
Update:
The latest software update killed the ant+ support. Wiping no longer fixes the problem for me, either.
Turning the airplane mode on, connecting the ant+ device (heart rate sensor for me) with the app of your choice, then turning off the airplane mode seems to work for me and some others.
OnePlus 5 ANT+
What seemed to work for me is to download ANT+ Radio Service from Google Play, and turn ON the Airplane Mode at the end of the download before it starts installing it.
I still have the odd bug such as won't work if I have the bluetooth ON, or sometimes just won't work at all but do after a restart...
Hopefully OP can resolve that soon.
Whoa! ANT+ is actually working in Oreo?!?! I'm running the first official Oxygen OS release (not Beta) stock rooted.
It picked up my cadence sensor biking into work this morning just like my OPO used to!

I'm traveling and don't have any ANT+ sensors to test. I'll try when I get home. But even on N the ANT+ Tester app showed everything green. It still did not work without the Airplane mode/disabled BT trick. And even then it was flaky.

In on a clean install of 8.0.1 with all the ANT+ stuff installed. Works the same as before. Strava only sees the sensors when in Airplane mode is on. Once connected, if I turn airplane mode back off, then I loose connection to ANT+ sensors. This is pretty much useless for me as I need data while riding.
Where is the NFC positioned in the back of the phone ? I can't get my Yubikey to work with it (And yes, the NFC is enabled in the settings).

NFC is between the camera and flash closer to the flash.
