Hi all,
so I have my Yoga Book - Windows version - for several days now. I am very happy with this device however there is one issue with the keyboard I just do not know how to solve - except for connecting external keyboard.
In general use its fine but it does not cooperate with games - you can not use key combinations (wd;wa,sa;sd) to move. As soon as you press "D" while holding "W" the keyboard stops sending continuous imput data. You can hold "W" and tap "D" to move right strait right (not forward/right) but it is a single imput... you can not hold "D" for continuous imput while holding "W" at the same time as in normal keyboards.
This seams very strange to me as you in fact CAN hold several key for continuous imput just not the character keys. For example: shift+W (2 keys) will give you continuous imput of capital "W" and crtl+alt+v (3 keys) will give you continuous imput of "@" sign. Clearly the technology supports multiple simultaneous "key" press, it just does not behave like regular keyboard.
I believe that this is an issue of halo keyboard's drivers but I might be wrong. Anyone have any glue how to solve this?
You can use the micro-usb port and bluetooth to connect an external keyboard

Well........ obviously. I know that, but you certainly do not have external keyboard all the time. I mean... it kind of negates the point of having 2v1 tablet/notebook if you have to have external keyboard anyway.
Hey,
so after few more test I found out that the same issue applies to arrow keys as well - meaning no diagonal navigation in file explorer, table documents or navigation services (google maps). So I have contacted customer support - long story short I should do factory reset or send it to service centre.
I am still convinced that this is the issue of drivers so I was wondering... could anyone with Yoga Book test this issue?

This is indeed an issue, exactly as you have indicated. Factory reset / sending it to the service centre will almost certainly be a waste of your time.

That sounds a like reasonable problem to me, I am guessing that this is not a real keyboard and they probably tried to make it simulate on screen keyboards which most of them do not properly support multiple modifier keys thing. I do not have a way to try this on the android keyboard but the ctrl modifier seems to work.
I just wished that the pen and the keyboard worked at the same time. So I do not have to constantly switch.
Please, take a look at my post, I list a few files you can modify to change the behaviour of the keyboard/touchpad:

Im using the 8125. Rom 2.xx
If i use the slide out keyboard, most of all the buttons are messed up.
if i press "i" it types ".i"
if i press "c" it types "ce"
if i press "g" it types "lg"
I basically cannot use the slide out keyboard at all. This was happening even when i was using the older ROM version.
I tried to use the keyboard remapper program AEKMap, that didnt work.
The SIP keyboard with the stylus works fine. I checked all registry entries and they all show up as US locale. The only thing i can think of is I use a magnetic phone holder, does anyone think that a magnet will screw up the keyboard ????? Any other suggestions???
sounds like that is a hardware malfunction, not software.
If you're under warranty, take it back.
If not, you're going to have to take it apart and see if you can find a loose ribbon cable some where.
Yeah, i figured its probably a hardware issue. I was just hoping someone had this problem before and fixed it without opening up or returning it.
the keyboard buttons have become very unresponsive..and i have to press really hard.
is anyone else having same problem?
even chinese generic keyboards have a longer lifespan.
either too responsive or unresponsive...this is really a ****ty keyboard..
I am facing the same problem too. But its soem keys that are "problematic" for me, namely, "c" "x" "," and sometimes, the backspace key does double when i only press it once.
Definitely will send in for warranty before its up end of the year.
My X1 keyboard definitely seems a lot more sluggish than when I bought it. But, I don't think it is a hardware problem, but rather something not right with the software. I even turned off auto-complete to no avail. If you are a quick typer, you can actually keep typing and the X1 will eventually catch up because it is buffering all the keystrokes.
I asume too that this problem is releated to windows mobile.
In some Programms i have to wait till i see what i am writing.
In other programms i have double writing of the buttons that i press.
I asume that the Keyboard driver is maybe broken.
Windows Mobile too is not really stable.
If the Phone is more than tree days without any reboot it becomes heavy instable.
Paintings of the Windows and startup of Programms is heavy Slow.
Only a reboot resolves the Problems for a while.
What makes me also thinking is if windows mobile has some memory leaks.
The Memory usage growth with the time even if nothing is running.
I am experiencing the same problem. When I write I either get a double space or no space from pressing the space bar...
I am experiencing the same problem... and I don't believe it's a software issue... I thought my xperia was flawless.. it's not!
I have the same problem, just recently but it with only my space bar - i have to press it a few times for it to work.... Very Annoying!
i only get it with the space bar. either it does not make a space when pressed of it makes 2 spaces.
all the other buttons seem ok
Same with me. Most noticeably is the spacebar's slow responsiveness. My x1 is ill.
I have been having the same problem. Its very very irritating. Sometimes i have to press the key very hard or sometimes its just one press and the alphabet comes 2-5 times. Its really irritating.
I thought it was a software issue and i have got R3A installed 2 days ago but the problem still exist.
The experia keyboard is useless.
testing testing testing testing.
works fine for my x1i.

Hey, I have the same Problems with my Keyboard. Very irritating. My X1 was once at the repair service but the Problem is still there. Now I will send my X1 to the repair service again. I hope my X1 will work fine after that.
Does anyone know whats the Problem here ? Is it the Keyboard inlay ( hardware ) or dust ?!
same problem with the keyboard.
when i press some letters (n, a, l), the comma, and space bar, i get double letters or double spaces.
more persons with this problem....hmm.... does anyone know what´s SE saying about this ? .....
It first started with the blue light blinking, even with the phone turned off. The only way to stop it from blinking was to remove the battery for about 10 seconds.
Then, everything I typed staarted to ddoublle letteers raandomlyy.
Now, it's acting like the down button is stuck. I can't do anything on the phone because its always scrolling down, beating out any other input.
I can live with the first two, but the third one has made the phone completely unusable. It's never been around water, never dropped, just randomly doing this crap. Any ideas on how to fix it? Hard reset does not work, new rom does not work, its a hardware issue.
Yes it is probably a hardware issue. Time for a phone swap
I'm actually out of warranty, so the only thing I can do it either switch to a different phone or try fixing this one. Have nothing to lose by opening it up, just wanted to see if anyone else has fixed it by cutting any wires or connections on the inside of the phone.

No phone insurance. Verizon completely screwed me on that phone purchase in more ways than one. By the time I figured that out it was to late.
TO bad I got mine added late. I just called the lady I bought the phone from and she added it.
Not sure about the blue-light.
I was able to fix my repeating-letters using the keyboard fix in this post:
For the constant-down input - it could either be the touchscreen digitizer or the hardware keyboard. YouTube has a series of videos on dismantling the Mogul - it may be worth some "exploratory surgery" to see what might be causing the problem (cookie crumbs, perhaps)...
Hope this helps. Good luck.
Htc mogul hardware button - issue
Dear XDA GURUS,
I am facing this very weird problem on my HTC MOGUL. All my Hardware button have stopped responding / Working. Please help me sort out this issue.
Waiting for your valued reply with solution.
Detail given on below link.
My HTC MOGUL HARDWARE Button Issue
Dear XDA GURUS,
yesterday i tried to do some RnD for this same problem. now the inputs. (Nothing technical)
* Even though my camera hardware button is not working, but, i can still enter the bootloader screen.
* Even though my both soft reset hardware button are not working, but, still i can do the hard reset.
This only means that, my buttons are working fine, but, according to my logic, they have lost there assignment.
After that i started searching web, if i can find a App / setting / hack / register setting, in which i can assign then there original key setting. So i found this on XDA forum as below.
Code:
[B]How to assign a shortcut to EndKey, SendKey, Power Button, PTT Button!![/B]
Hello
Since some of you guys asked about this , well there you go:
if you look inside the keyboard driver with a good disassembler (IDA Pro) you would see that you can create these link files :
Long_PTT.lnk (push to talk button+long press)
Long_End.lnk (the read key+long press)
Long_Send.lnk (the green key+long press)
Short_PTT.lnk (push to talk button)
Long_Power.lnk (Power button +long press)
Short_Power.lnk (Power button)
So basically all you need is to create these link files and put them in to windows folder. You can assign these keys to any shortcut you want .

ok now, certain things are clear. now anybody out there can help get this thing sorted out.
Waiting for concrete solution.
I purchased a Logitech bluetooth keyboard for use with the Note 10.1. Initially I was excited, but that excitement turned to irritation when I realized that my typing experience would be constantly interrupted by the words "English(US)". After some trial and error, I quickly found out that it was cased by pressing the key combination Shift+Spacebar, which activates the Samsung Keyboard's language switcher. Apparently, I hit this combo every time I capitalize an "i" when typing quickly.
After some trial and error, I found a decent solution. I downloaded the 4.2 Google keyboard, and problem solved (Initially I tried a number of other virtual keyboards, but each of them didn't play well with the quick FN options of this keyboard, and I was searching for full functionality). This also removes the full word deletion feature of Sammy's keyboard, which begins deleting entire words when the backspace button is pressed for X-amount of seconds), which I find to be very annoying.
The only problem left happens when reconnecting my bluetooth keyboard, which causes TouchWiz to default back to Samsung Keyboard. Fortunately, the virtual keyboard can be switched back to Google's with just a couple taps.
Anyways, hope this helps.
I just got my Tytn working again (needed a new battery nothing major) and noticed that the function button on the keyboard doesn't work. Every other key/button on the keyboard and device is working fine but that one isn't responding. I've hard reset but that hasn't fixed the problem.
It's not like the device is unusable without it but it would be much more convenient to be able to access symbols without opening the software keyboard.
Could anyone point me in the direction of a fix for this issue. I've searched but all the topics relating to the button seem to assume that the button is doing something in the first place. Is it likely to be a hardware issue when all the other keys are working?
Anyway thanks for the help
Dan
