Samsung Galaxy S7 Sprint unlocked - Need to disable "Checking Device Status ..." msg
Hi guys, i've just got today a S7 SM-G930P with firmware G930PVPS4APJ2, managed to disable most of the crapware with Package Disabler Pro but i am unable to get rid of a notification that says "Checking Device Status". I click on it and nothing nor i can find a related package to uninstall or stop.
The phone is unlocked and i am using it outside the USA in a non-Sprint environment
Any ideas? it seems to be eating a lot of my batt.

i had this problem before i flashed the unlocked fw. what i did was disable a package called, i think system update.
try that. let me know if it does not work. i forgot the process a little.
Hi, thank you for your reply, system update is already disabled ... but this thing is still on.
do you remember what FW you flashed?

I recently bought a unlocked Sprint Galaxy S7 and using it on att network. Since I do not have a Sprint account, the hands free activation service keeps on popping out. How can I disable or shut down the service?

i think a guy on the "unlock sprint s7 for use with att" thread on page 4 has the answer check it out and try it
disable Hands Free Activation
Use the package disabler Pro($0.99) to disable the "System Update" package.
Or, use application manager to disable the "System Update" package every time after the reboot.

the built in application manager will not allow you to disable 'system update', but it does allow you to force close it after every reboot to remove the ongoing notification. The work around is to purchase the app as mentioned "package disabler pro" to disable the 'system update' package all together. As i understand it, the paid app uses a workaround associated with knox. It is confirmed to work.
thanks you sir, i understand now

hi sir do you know much about the voicemail, can't get rid of the notifications and when I try to call my voicemail by holding 1 it just calls it and asks me to leave a message, package disabler will get rid of the notification right? but how can I access and control my voicemail.
thanks
System Update" package
I have the same problem. If I disable system update, will it disable anything other than the Sprint Activation

i did not experience any issues from disabling system update. FYI, the carrier-free s7 firmware was leaked and you and flash that to your phone to remove all traces of sprint. The phone will function as a g930U. i am running that right now and it enables hotspot functionality for me. find the thread for the unlocked firmware in the ATT section.

hey, so you have a sprint 930p, and u unlocked it? then flashed that firmware from the att section and it removed all the sprint bloatware??
thanks sir
I actually need help with the opposite. I'm rooted and I did a wipe but now my hands free activation doesn't pop up and let me connect my phone back to network. I tried re-enable what was frozen but still won't work. Data works fine though
Can't find System Update in Package Disabler
I have purchased an unlocked S7 that was originally from Sprint, and I bought the package disabler Pro
In App settings I have "System Update" and can Force Close it to temporarily get rid of the notification, however Package Disabler Pro does not list "System Update" or "com.samsung.sdm". Has it been renamed or is it able to hide itself somehow?

I think I answered my own question. Trial and error eventually showed that disabling "Samsung DM Service" (com.samsung.syncservice) removed the notification.

I managed to get rid of the Sprint HFA by flashing T-Mobile firmware. I tried the G930U firmware, a few different versions, and it never worked. This is the firmware I flashed with Odin: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=0749006C458011E697AF0CC47A44B7B2
Oh yeah? You can flash from a sprint to a t-mobile? What are steps I need to take, starting from a stock sprint phone? Mine is a G930P.
I'm assuming some combination of odin, flashfire, root, etc?
i'm surprised the t-mobile rom would work. Where is the leaked G930U firmware?
Used the U firmware on my recently bought 930P
I can finally get LTE data and everything is finally tidily working !
I had to set the APN to get it working again, but on the Stock 930P Sprint firmware, it seemed as if LTE was blocked?
If you have a 930P get the firmware above running 6.0.1 and wait for the unlocked 930U nougat firmware.
Everything working - No root applied.
Question on which G930U variant you flashed to your G930P

What version did you flash to get rid of the Sprint network items? The U version specifically for the P variant or a different image? I.e. here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s7/help/bloat-free-firmware-930u-tried-t3428974 ?
if on sprint network and this happens?
my son broke a phone and replaced with an old sprint galaxy s6 we had. he put his sim card in and we did live chat to activate it. all good....not....he can use the phone but it keeps hands free activating and he has to enter info etc.
would this work? or is there an easier fix since we are on sprint? do i need to contact sprint? or just reboot? any ideas appreciated. thanks.
Hi everyone. Just bought an S6 Edge+ yesterday, and today I tried updating its firmware, but it gives me the error message of "Your OS has been modified..." etc. It tells me to use smartswitch to update. However, since I bought it used, I have no idea how they unlocked the phone. Is it possible that by updating with smartswitch my phone will be locked again to its original carrier?
No, smart switch does not have the ability to re lock
I checked the unlock my device app pre-installed from T-Mobile and it says my device isn't unlocked. Can't it be that the unlock I have is some sort of software unlock that can be lost if I force the update?
Bump
Flash stock firmware you wont lose data itll fix your issue then u can update
Hello ive tried to root my s7 edge and successfully works, and for some reason, i turned off the oem unlock in dev options. The time comes when my phone got empty, so i quickly tried to charge it but it stuck on s7 edge logo and has a red font above saying "custom binary block by frp lock" i managed to get through it by flashing stock rom from sammobile but on the first boot, my s7 edge was so laggy and cant even make a simple home button it takes so much time for keys to function and there are popping up errors "com.sec.epdg has stopped" and " IMS Service has stopped" and in notifications bar saying "upgrading android/updating android" something like that. luckily i be able to turn it off and go for factory data reset. but after setting the phone, my settings got messed up like theres 2 application, 2 device maintenance and and other additional settings like t roaming, service provider which i dont see on my settings before it all messed up. I also realize that i cant find the fast charging settings which explains why its not so fast when i do charging. Can anyone please help me? You think i flash the wrong stock rom? My original product code is :crying: and i cant seem to find it in sammobile. sorry for my english but any help would be so much appreciated.
Btw, my phone was bought from UAE and im pretty sure that my model number is SM-G935FD. My phone is dual sim. However, when i chose the SM-G935FD category in sammobile, i noticed that there were no UAE country, so i choose to download the stock rom coming from vietnam because at the box of the phone it says manufactured in vietnam so i think thats what pushed me to download it. please help
I Haven't rooted my phone yet but it keeps telling me this when I open android pay, when I first got my phone I set my up my card but now it saying that phone is either rooted or bootloader unlocked which isn't the case.
On Vodafone UK, before this I used my OP3 with Magisk with Android Pay but I haven't used that since I've got my s8 so I'm not sure what the issue could be.
Any insight to this?
Besides the usual factory reset.
same here EE UK S8 not rooted (yet) but comes up with same error message. It worked fine on my rooted and hidden with magisk S6
edit - oh and factory reset doesn't work as I already tried that. I thought it might have had something to do with bringing over magisk app from my google backup but I specifically didnt install that the 2nd time around. Knox hasn't been tripped so its not that
I'm having the same issue on a Galaxy S8 via Tmobile. I've never rooted it, have no clue if the bootloader is unlocked and I'm stock since I reset the phone the first time I got the error. Still getting the error and Android pay help chat was not useful.
Same issue here, on Voda UK. I used Package Disabler pro and thinking I might have disabled something I need.
So since I had OEM unlock enabled after disabling it, it passes and safetynet now.
I had no problems adding cards, but a few days later when I wanted to add more cards, I get the error. I can't remember what I did in between that would've caused this, but definitely not rooting! I turned developer option to off and still get the error.
My S7 is rooted and TWRPed and have no problems adding cards!!!!???
Very weird. Working just fine on my rooted s8+ with magisk.
I'm on T-Mobile with a S8 and Android Pay connected to my PayPal is getting card read error everywhere I try to use it.
Safety net says everything is ok too. Not sure what's going on. I have the newest update and not rooted.

Hi Can you let me know how you managed to root with Magisk and get Android pay etc to work?
My phone:
Model: SM-G955F
SW: G955FXXU1AQF7
I tried rooted and couldn't get it working, and now recovered to official ROM and still can't get it to work?!?
Dont you people know anythin?
All EU(exynos) S8 and other galaxies come with unlocked bootloaders. Thats causing the problem
Lock it
Hi all,
I already posted a question in the Official stock upgrade but it got lost in the other comments, so I'm trying my luck again.
I had an italian branded SM-G950F (OMN), I wanted to remove all the Vodafone stuff, so I installed a MULTI-CSC as per the official stock firmware upgrade thread, when I did it I had my Australian sim card in and I got a weird UK CSC (the multi CSC didn't have australia in it), after installing everything I noticed that Android Pay didn't work, so I did a factory reset with my italian sim card in and still Android Pay was complaining that my firmware was modified or rooted.
I decided to use an australian specific firmware so I downloaded an XSA firmware and did the procedure again.
At this stage Secure Folder and Samsung Pay work (the phone is NOT rooted, this update has been the only "mod" I have done) but Android Pay is still saying that my rom may be modified or rooted so it doesn't open.
It is pretty important for me because my back supports android pay but not samsung pay
The phone is not rooted, if I reboot the phone in download mode the warranty void bit is 0 (which is good).
If I use Root Checker Pro, under safety net tab, I get CTS profile match as FAIL, I was thinking this could cause Android Pay to fail.
any idea?
start to uninstall suspicious apps, then restart . worked with my un-rooted S8. OEM unlock: OFF

Hi mariuscrist,
I'm not sure what app can be suspicious, I have reinstalled the apps I had before the firmware update and I could use android pay then. I'll see what it can be, probably it could be worth to do a factory reset and test android pay before anything else?
So, i bought 3 used Samsung s8 from China. All three are origanlly SM-950U but they were flashed SM-9500(CHina's version), so i donwloaded SM-950U and flashed it on all three S8.
Oddly enouogh, one Samsung s8 has this weird Spirnt OADAM spam message that i can't turn off. And i went to system update, it says UICC unlock, this device is locked to Sprint only. But I tried inserting my own siim card, network and call both work!!! (which means it is not a locked device)
The other two samsung s8 also have the oadam message, but they successfully completed the configuration. ( I also went to system update, and it DOENS'T say "this device is locked to sprint only"
Does anything know why the first device couldn't complete the OADAM, and the otheres two could???
They are the same model, and i flashed the same rom...
And how can i permanenntly erase that message???
i Can't find any answer anywhere.
Thankk you everyone for your attention and help.
I hope i can get some answer.
Everybody!! Thanks to @ZeroXO, he is a real professional and helped out root out the problem and even helped me download the correct ROM for free!!!
