I recently bought a unlocked Sprint Galaxy S7 and using it on att network. Since I do not have a Sprint account, the hands free activation service keeps on popping out. How can I disable or shut down the service?

i think a guy on the "unlock sprint s7 for use with att" thread on page 4 has the answer check it out and try it
disable Hands Free Activation
Use the package disabler Pro($0.99) to disable the "System Update" package.
Or, use application manager to disable the "System Update" package every time after the reboot.

the built in application manager will not allow you to disable 'system update', but it does allow you to force close it after every reboot to remove the ongoing notification. The work around is to purchase the app as mentioned "package disabler pro" to disable the 'system update' package all together. As i understand it, the paid app uses a workaround associated with knox. It is confirmed to work.
thanks you sir, i understand now

i did not experience any issues from disabling system update. FYI, the carrier-free s7 firmware was leaked and you and flash that to your phone to remove all traces of sprint. The phone will function as a g930U. i am running that right now and it enables hotspot functionality for me. find the thread for the unlocked firmware in the ATT section.

hey, so you have a sprint 930p, and u unlocked it? then flashed that firmware from the att section and it removed all the sprint bloatware??
thanks sir
I actually need help with the opposite. I'm rooted and I did a wipe but now my hands free activation doesn't pop up and let me connect my phone back to network. I tried re-enable what was frozen but still won't work. Data works fine though
Can't find System Update in Package Disabler
I have purchased an unlocked S7 that was originally from Sprint, and I bought the package disabler Pro
In App settings I have "System Update" and can Force Close it to temporarily get rid of the notification, however Package Disabler Pro does not list "System Update" or "com.samsung.sdm". Has it been renamed or is it able to hide itself somehow?

I think I answered my own question. Trial and error eventually showed that disabling "Samsung DM Service" (com.samsung.syncservice) removed the notification.

I managed to get rid of the Sprint HFA by flashing T-Mobile firmware. I tried the G930U firmware, a few different versions, and it never worked. This is the firmware I flashed with Odin: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=0749006C458011E697AF0CC47A44B7B2
Oh yeah? You can flash from a sprint to a t-mobile? What are steps I need to take, starting from a stock sprint phone? Mine is a G930P.
I'm assuming some combination of odin, flashfire, root, etc?
i'm surprised the t-mobile rom would work. Where is the leaked G930U firmware?
Used the U firmware on my recently bought 930P
I can finally get LTE data and everything is finally tidily working !
I had to set the APN to get it working again, but on the Stock 930P Sprint firmware, it seemed as if LTE was blocked?
If you have a 930P get the firmware above running 6.0.1 and wait for the unlocked 930U nougat firmware.
Everything working - No root applied.
Question on which G930U variant you flashed to your G930P

What version did you flash to get rid of the Sprint network items? The U version specifically for the P variant or a different image? I.e. here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s7/help/bloat-free-firmware-930u-tried-t3428974 ?
if on sprint network and this happens?
my son broke a phone and replaced with an old sprint galaxy s6 we had. he put his sim card in and we did live chat to activate it. all good....not....he can use the phone but it keeps hands free activating and he has to enter info etc.
would this work? or is there an easier fix since we are on sprint? do i need to contact sprint? or just reboot? any ideas appreciated. thanks.

Same issue I can't find stock firmware. Root was working fine for about a week but then today Google play crashed a lot on me, as well as pokemongo. Restarted my phone expecting that'd fix the crashes but it was stuck in a boot loop, I had to wipe my phone. After that annoying experience decided I wanted to revert my phone to normal but can't -- sm-g935a at&t
Can't find anything on the web that works.
Fixed: I used the modified ODIN from Max Lee's site that I originally used to root the phone, then used the 935U firmware and it worked, 935A unrooted and running the unlocked firmware, it is better than a stock 935A, dosen't even have an ATT boot logo! Supposedly you can root from it, but for now, the stock U fw is awesome, battery life is better, no bloat is a plus, it even puts BACK the smart manager app in settings, and adds HotSpot and Cell Data toggles to the menu.
Thanks, that was enough information for me to fix my problem. 935U does seem to run better than A

hey are you having a problem with the g935u firmware where the fingerprint scanner doesnt work? mine keeps saying fingerprint services not responding.
I had to soft reset my phone about 5 minutes ago, as i was downloading the root files and the stinking phone tried to automatically update the software!
I have now unchecked the automatic check for updates, will that stop the madness?
EZ Package Disabler (Samsung)
Use that to disable "at&t software update", or something like that.
I appreciate your wanting to be help, but I need the package names to disable. I have disabled the FWupdate* app, and it still turns off my phone, and goes into the update, but fails, because of root. I want it to stop forcing the update. Is it one of the MDM apps? (mobile device management)?

Although I left the two Knox apps enabled I believe you can block them as well. I'm on sprint so disable the software update ones and att software update. You should be good.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Sprint unlocked - Need to disable "Checking Device Status ..." msg
Hi guys, i've just got today a S7 SM-G930P with firmware G930PVPS4APJ2, managed to disable most of the crapware with Package Disabler Pro but i am unable to get rid of a notification that says "Checking Device Status". I click on it and nothing nor i can find a related package to uninstall or stop.
The phone is unlocked and i am using it outside the USA in a non-Sprint environment
Any ideas? it seems to be eating a lot of my batt.

I am not able to setup Samsung pay on my S8. It's completely stock on AT&T. Keep getting server connection error, try again later.....??? I searched the web and apparently it may be related to device encryption. But how could a completely stock device not be able to allow this to be setup out of the box?

I installed different Samsung Pay Framework apk and now I want to revert back and downgrade to another version to make Spay work.. when I click uninstall updates it wont let me. (Gives message that App is needed by system administrator.. when I open sys admin nothing there. hidden app)
Any ideas or suggestions on how to downgrade S Pay Framework?
Thank you in advance,
Joe
Are you Exynos or snapdragon? If your Exynos there's only a couple CSC that support Samsung pay. If snapdragon, lots of people were having problems with their Samsung pay setup and the only way people got it solved was doing a factory reset from what I read

I don't know if it's true but I believe some package disablers have a remove option. Perhaps someone that has them can chime in. I don't know what effects it can have to your phone though. You always have the option to do factory reset option.

REstore to factory settings will revert ur Samsung pay framework. One you upgrade you can't downgrade.
Enter into recovery mode (Hold down Bixby, + volume up +power on. and restore factory settings.
Samsung Pay doesn't work on my S8 on Android 8.0. -After- a factory reset, Pay app still won't get past the Connection error 'Unable to connect to Samsung Pay temporarily, try again later' warning. How does a Samsung app not work on a Samsung device? The app works perfectly on my Gear S3.

I do not know the actual fix for your issue. I have heard of the hands free bootloop since the S4, but aside from rooting and removing the apk I have not found a fix.
But if you are willing, I would like you to try 2 possible fixes.
Fix 1:
1.Go to settings / Mobile networks / Network Mode
2. Select CDMA
3.Click OK (The phone will restart)
After the phone reboots:
Settings / System Update / Update the profile
Once the device has sucessfully completed the update go back to the settings and change the network mode from CDMA to LTE/CDMA
This worked about half the time for the sprint s6 owners back in the day.
Fix 2:
Download either BK disabler ($2.49 great reviews, I recommend BK due to the other guys shady rerelease)
or
Package disabler pro ($1.99 used to be great, dev abandoned first paid version leaving us to rebuy it again)
After you download and install one of them, go in a disable the "system update" package
Let me know if this helps
