Hi,
When I wants to use wifi I have to turn on WIFI in comm manager, go to setting, go to connection, go to advanced and select network: work network. If I wants to go back to HSDPA I have to go with the same route to set things back.
Are there any apps to make this easier, by means only two icons to set WIFI or HSDPA without performing the steps discribed above?
Thank you
Hello.
I am new user of Samsung Galaxy Spica in Poland. In our country in Play network, we have very big problems with HSPDA connection. HSPDA is not fully supported by network operator however this phone is still trying to connect in this mode causing interuption in internet connection. Is there any way to disable HSPDA and stay in 3G mode? With this problems we can't even download programs from market because of connection interruption. This is very frustrating.
Thanks for any help
ps.: sorry for my english, I am still learning
What version of android your spica has?
If 2.1 (Eclair), go to settings> wireless&networks> mobile networks> enable use only 2G networks.. That should allow only 2G connections.. Have your wifi network connected and download all u want from market..
Android v2.1 rooted Samdroid
But 2g is way much slower comparing to 3g... and i need 3g speed to my work. I am tethering net to my notebook while working.
Is there no way to just block HSPDA and leave 3g?
I had the same problem and I found that only on JCE (or JCF) firmwares 3G works OK. (seamlessly switches between 3G and HSDPA). I don't know why in all next firmwares there is a problem with using 3G in ours network ("Play"). This problem doesn't occur in other polish networks. Only in "Play" and on almost all firmwares, excluding JCE/JCF.
Does anyone know which files should I copy from JCE firmware to the newest version of firmware (eg. JH1), to have the latest fw. and 3G working correctly (like in JCE)?
alejka21 You are using APNdroid right ? if yes then change it to "SMODA"
in service menu i find option disable HSDPA.
*#*#197328640#*#* -> [9] Common -> [7] Factory test -> [5] HSDPA Status Check
I temporarily use *#*#4636#*#* to force my phone to EDGE/GSM only. I can get 4-5 days on the battery and can stay on top of my email/whatsapp with light data use that doesn't require high speed. It's great when I'm traveling/vacation. Problem is this setting doesn't stick. If I restart the phone, it switches back to 4g LTE and if I forget to toggle to 2G mode, it drains the battery.
Any permanent solution to address this?
Some roms have it baked into network settings where you can select the network type... only helps if your rooted though....
This trick is for stock Lollipop rom .
If you've E signal you can force the phone to connect to H, H+ or even LTE (probably only for short time). (probably also work from H to LTE).
1. Go into settings
2. Tap "more" at wireless and connections.
3. Tap mobile networks
4. Tap network operators and tap "OK" (data network will temporarily be disabled until networks are scanned)
5. Check the networks list for your carriers networks, if you're lucky you'll find a more fast network for your current area. Then tap the fastest network to try connecting, if it can't connect to the fastest, it'll connect to the least fastest.
##You can attempt this anytime you like to try to connect to a better network, LTE networks might not stick long if the signal is weak, but you could just do it again.##
##If you loose the signal after a while, it might happen that you're getting connected to a slower network again. Meaning you can then again follow the instructions to gain a better network##
Hi there,
so here's the issue.
every time I wake up in the morning and switch on my phone, I find the network set on 3g instead of 4g.
Needless to say that there's no problem connecting to LTE, it works flawlessly: all I need to do is navigate the settings menu to 'mobile network' and set 'preferred network mode' back to 'GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto'.
Is there any way to avoid this? has anyone had the same experience?
thanks!
