ROM 2.10.531.1 (82076) WWE still has a huge pink spot in attached pictures. Looks like it's definitely a hardware problem with probably the low-quality plastic lens. Possible chromatic aberration?
yup, my phone has it too. I took some pics of a blank sheet of paper and there was a nice pink hue in the middle of the paper!
Wasn't there a software fix for this?

The released hotfix is only for 1.66 roms and LOWER, and assuming this 2.10.x rom has all previous hotfixes rolled into it.
I see.
For the record, I have the same ROM as you and I don't seem to have the spot.
Camera
I have taken probably 100 + photos and have yet to notice any spots.
In fact, so far, I am very pleased with the quality of the photos the HD2 produces. By far the best camera on any phone I have owned, and thats been quite a few...
Stock rom installed.

take a pic of a blank sheet of paper in daylight and see if any pink shows up, or anything that's white will do.

Just tried it, and no spots. Someone mentioned the lens cover, possibly a lens to lens problem. Others are not effected by this problem as well.

let me try to upload mine.
how do you get the pictures to show in your post?

I'm having a problem with green tint in my pictures. And sometimes the flash makes the pictures too bright. There should be a way to disable one of the lights in the flash. You don't need it all the time in my opinon. I called tmobile about the green tint in my pics. They are sending me a new phone. Hopefully it works out ok. Has anyone else experienced this??
I'm not having this issue. I would have to say it's probably a manufacturer's error.
Have you contacted T-Mobile or HTC about it?
BTW, this phone's video and picture capabilities are actually better than my $200 Cannon, LOL!
i only get the greenish-yellow tint only when it's a picture taken with flash, lol, pick your poison, no flash for pink, flash for green-yellow!
yes i did...they are going to send me a another phone. Wish me luck
I still have it after manually patching the phone. I think it has to do with shooting outdoors in sunlight though.
I've checked my history of FUZE/Touch Pro pictures and they have a pink spot too (visible in the histogram in Picasa)!
It looks like it's common HTC camera problem that I can date back possibly to the TyTN II which explains why it still shows up in TMOUS HD2 after all the European HD2 hubbub. So much for Quietly Brilliant.
That's unfortunate for ANYONE who has experienced this "apparently" still existing issue with the camera. I have had NO such trouble, whatsoever. All of my photos have been insanely crisp, and absolutely gorgeous.
Then again, I did perform a registry tweak to increase the maximum resolution that the camera is capable of outputting.
now that you mention it
Heres some pictures i snapped all of which have a slight pinkish tint to them i didn't notice it till today. Anyone working on a fix? Or should i see if T-mobile will trade me out phones?
Normally i wouldn't care but I take a lot of pictures like all the time and this is gonna start bugging me
HHHMMMMM Interesting
Look what I found

let me go take a picture with my Nexus see if it does it too
Edit: Ok Im back and so i guess HTC FTL!!! lol j/k oh well i guess I'm gonna have to settle for pink.
I'm gonna try my Dads 3GS next time I see him.

So that's why I see it in my Touch Pro too! So it must be camera optics.
It can't be sensor/uv burn-in because TMOUS HD2 is brand new less a week old spending most of its time in indoors and in pouches. It's very apparent on histograms.
If it's a white balance issue, it is contradicted by the fact it's a circle and not an overall image issue. It's also NOT present on DSLRs and other normal cameras that I've used.
Hi XDA,
I just bought my Xperia Z2 yesterday and i went to the batch numbers topic and checked for Issues reported by people there. Fortunatelly i dinot have any issues but today i noticed the front camera quality was very poor. There is a Yellowish reddish tint that appears on the front camera however the back cover is fine. The picture is like thousand of small dots flicker on the screen and if i keep it very close to my face then i can notice it. If I click the Picture the picture seems to be completely fine.
Can any one of you please check and let me know if you are also facing this kind of Issue?

I took it to the service center and they said it a problem. He asked me to come tomorrow and they would update the firmware to a latest build and hopefully issue would be resolved otherwise they would replace it for me
ok so i got the same issue but i dont know if it is firmware of the camera problem , but the pic taken out is completely fine

Yes the finished picture is fine but while taking the picture it has a lot of noise. I have checked it with service center guys and they have called me tomorrow to update my firmware to see if issue is resolved otherwise they would replace the phone. However, talking to few people here in XDA it seems that noise issue is there with Sony camera and if the finished picture is fine it is not much of an Issue. So, I am thinking to get the software updated to latest build and then dont take replacement and keep using it.
What is the batch number of your phone ? Mine is 14w19

Of course it's an issue. It alters and creates an inaccurate preview. Why should it be flawed if the front is fine?

If you grab Front Camera Video it is also an issue because it uses the same Live-View as what you see on the screen.

Yes I agree. The video has hell lot of noise. But the picture comes out clear. I took the phone to service center and they reflashed the firmware and issue was still there. He told me he can replace the phone for me, but i refused as this is only the problem and i dont want to get a newphone which is of a different batch and has hell lot of other Issues.
Yeah, I've had this problem since I got the phone. I made a thread a couple weeks ago about it being an issue. I'm not updated to the current software, but I didn't think it would help, lol.
And it is very important to me as I'm a SnapChat whore in every meaning of the word, and, for some reason, the final image when taken in SnapChat is NOT made better as if it were taken with the Camera app.
I also have a 14w19, and I see what you mean. I don't mind so much as I don't use the front camera a whole lot (only with SnapChat, and the video quality isn't always the nest there anyway). I'm not bothered.
I'm bothered that for $700, the hardware and perhaps software in this case is so obviously flawed. I mean they really advertised the hell out of their camera prowess. But the front camera looks like the whole screen is dipped in sand.
It is clearly a software issue and I think it dosnt matter what batch you have, mine is 14W18 and in with really low light I have this issue but if there is some light left there is no problem at all and also the back camera did not have any kind of this issue in my case.
I'm sure that it's a software issue. Why else would the picture be correct after actually taking it with the built-in Camera app?

It's hard to tell what you mean exactly here. Are you saying the display on the screen has small dots on it or the picture it takes is not good.
is this something that comes across in a video chat or not as in the other person sees the same as well.
Can you post a screen shot so we understand better what you mean ?

Actually i wont be able to post a screenshot of it. I am talking about the front camera, when you start it the preview window that we see it is full of noise and it seems as if it has sand all over it. But the final picture is fine.

I have this too (and I suspect everyone does)
The front camera is quite simply not very good. The reason the captured image comes out slightly differently is most probably because it's a longer exposure (than realtime preview) and there's also some noise reduction in the post processing)
Anybody else have this odd screen glitch anywhere on their display. Its like half a second white flash once in a while when I'm on Tapatalk, or the Amazon app or other apps.
Maybe its a bad display of my G4 or a 5.1 bug?
Edit....
I've since replaced my G4 with another new one with zero issues.
Should of added more to the poll, but my G4 is with TMO USA. Maybe the glitch is carrier independent.
Ever figure out the cause? I'm debating returning the phone
I saw this today on an H815 unlocked model on display at Best Buy. Only saw it when looking at a particular photo with a bunch of horizontal lines on it.

I think a software update should fix this or apps updated to support LP 5.1. I've only seen the glitch when I'm using an app, never on home page, or dialer, etc.
Hopefully its not a display defect.

Nothing as described on my TMO variant.
could it be because the phone is in game mode which is a battery saving mode.
Here's the image I saw this problem on yesterday. Download it to your device, open it in the LG gallery app, and in portrait orientation, double tap the image to zoom in a bit. I saw the flickering on the stairs in the picture.

Nope.. mine seems fine..
Am I supposed to scroll around really quickly while zoomed in or something?
Just picked up my white Verizon g4 last night, haven't noticed this problem
Today on an international version, while using internet app to read this site, the screen gently faded really white, then a few seconds later faded back to normal again. It continued like this for prob 30 seconds. Leaving the app didn't help, but getting some black colour on the screen stopped it. No idea why it was happening... Something iffy with the display and maybe power saving though. Nervy now!

No, it happens while you are not moving the image or touching the screen at all. Might not work with that exact image I linked because the image on the device, while the same picture, was at a higher resolution I believe.
edit: I'll go back to the Best Buy today and film the issue so people can see what we're talking about.

I suspect all have it, but it's hard to trigger. After I get a video of it at Best Buy, I plan to go around to some other stores like AT&T and see if the demo units there also have it.
Well crap. It was less noticeable on the G4 at Best Buy today. I could just barely see the flickering with my eyes, and it was impossible to capture on camera, at least without a tripod.

But you did see the flicker. I've noticed it could be a super fast flicker barily noticilbe to a 2 second square section looking like a static tv like on the movie poltergeist.
Yeah it's really quick, too quick to get a screenshot. It's mainly on scrollable apps. Just a thought, anyone using nova launcher? Maybe it's an artifact
TMO G4 here and I get a screen glitch occasionally. I can't consistently recreate it. It happens for a split second. The screen static affects about a quarter of the screen.

mine does that 2 could it be the kernel needs to be optimized a little better. Its like its underclocked to far or something. When I try to underclock and undervolt my nexus 6 i get similar issues. i bet they will be able to fix it with a kernel update im gonna go ahead and exchange it out
My personal G4 arrived yesterday and so far, after using it for about 7 hours screen time, I have not seen this issue. I know what the issue looks like too because I saw it clearly on a model at Best Buy. So maybe it is a defect in some models? Or maybe it only affects some firmware, because I doubt the Best Buy model is running the same firmware as mine, which is from Asia.
Just got my Z5 and loving it ... except the unit I got DOES seem to suffer from some left-hand blur Kind of sad since when I was testing the unit in the store there didn't seem to be any problem (probably I was looking at around the middle part or probably because I was only using the brochures there as my test shots). Granted, I did come across and pass 2 units that had worse and more obvious blurs than the one I have.
Here are links to the image (right-side up first, then upside-down): http://imgur.com/a/gc1qI
The blur is seen near the top-left corner and also a little bit on the bottom-left corner. This can be seen by observing the leaves and grass. Seeing as the blur is only on the left-hand side, I'm guessing it isn't just due to the wide lens?
I'm a bit troubled if I should have it replaced or not since as mentioned earlier, I came across units with worse blur. Should I have it replaced? Is there really a Z5 / Z5c there with 'perfect' lens with no blur?
Thanks everyone!
They look normal to me, TBH. I could show you pictures from couple other phones with this kind of 'slight' blur. We're talking landscape shots here - not macros. The third one does have some blurs but I could see blur across the whole edge & few other spots (proly due to moving objects and/or shaky hands). But it's your call anyway

Oh really? Probably I'm just nitpicking but it doesn't hurt to be safe. To be honest, my Z1 has a much more pronounced blur than this which I didn't really notice until now when I tried comparing it and looking at the photos carefully.

Not a misalignment lenses?
It doesn't look it has blurring -- the slight distortion on the corners tend to be an effect of wide angle lenses

Thanks I can relate because I also had a Z1 that had blurring and didn't realize it till I was comparing its shots with the Z5. I was surprised since I was using it and the camera quite happily for almost 2 years and thought it was normal.

That camera module is damaged. You can see the black lines across the image. If not by factory fault then that can happen if you expose the camera to direct sunlight for to long or IR light like the strobe/laser "cannons" in some concerts and clubs. If that hits the sensor directly then bye bye..!
I took a picture hoping to check if I have the camera blur. Can someone help out? The blur on the plant on the right side is caused by taking the pic close to it. I tried to take it at 180 degrees (2nd pic) but I didn't manage to take a pic close to the other one.

I use my camera to take pictures of documents, it's faster than scanning them in - I'm finding something that bothers me.
If I focus on the center of the document, the top is a little fuzzy. If I focus at the top, it gets fuzzier as it gets to the bottom. I don't notice it on regular pictures I take, just when I take an up close picture of a document. You can even see this on screen as you are looking at the document.
Can someone take a picture of a document, focus in the center and see if it's all phones, or just mine?
I've attached a picture, you can see it's "fuzzy" at the top of the document, but still legible.
[EDIT]
I noticed if I folded the top of the document towards me, it comes in focus.....So it's almost like the lens is warped possibly? If this is an inherent trait of the A7, I keep it.. If it's just mine, I'll send it back for a replacement, because this is something I do quite often.

Really? Hmmm
I just spent 30 minutes on "live chat" support....I sent the original picture and they seen my issue. They walked me through the normal "stuff" and then had me restart in Safe Mode. After restarting in safe mode and taking more pics and sending them all to the tech, they said it looks like my lens is slightly tilted.
So, I had the option of:
1) Having them fix it with a 10 day turn-around, which means I'd be without a phone for 10 days
2) For an additional $79 they'd send me an exchange first, "Advanced Exchange", so I wouldn't be without a phone
3) Going through with my Amazon exchange and hope I get the replacement before my 30 day window is up to return the faulty phone.
I told them I'd go with Amazon, but if yours is like that, I'm wondering if I should just keep mine now?
Thanks for testing that out for me!

Haven't tested yet but my theory is that the part/section the camera is focusing is clear and the rest of the image is having a DoF effect, i have to test this out but is just an idea.
I don't own the phone yet so i can't test it :/
But trying something similar with my Find 7 i got this :
So we have the same effect, just much less pronounced...
I'm no expert in the optic behind a smartphone camera but isn't it just due to the fact that the top of the page is at a far greater distance than the middle ? The difference between the two distance is too great for the camera to get a good focus of both. This would explain why it's only showing on macro pictures...
EDIT : Well, seems i got the same idea as @DrakenFX but he was faster ^^'

the 4:3 will force you to move away from the page in order to capture it fully, which should in turn decreases the DOF and soft edge effects. Not sure the 16:9 sensor was a smart choice, samsung went back to 4:3 after S6 because the blurring on the edges was too much.
