Help please. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Please help, I am stuck in an England airport for the next 24 hours and my phone has gone to the dark side. I was attempting to update Busybox and in error may have made a mistake. At this point Busybox tells me it cannot get root and suggests reinstalling which I have tried several times. At this point, root/supersu is no longer working and other things have broken as well, I cannot connect to any wireless on DCHP mode and since this issue started the phone now says my SD card is corrupted and I am unable to repair it. I attempted a clean reinstall/reset of the phone, but that hasn’t fixed it. It appears that symlinks are all messed up and causing major issues. I am not expert with these phone and need any help I can get please.

you need to flash the stock files from odin located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s7/how-to/firmware-g930aucs4api2-bootloader-4-t3481957
use odin 3.12.3 and not princecomsey version.

here are your files, http://dl.pars-hamrah.com/index.php...ATT4API2_USA ATT Android 6.0.1_4File Firmware
I know the website looks sketchy and its in persian or whatever(you can change it to english in the top left), but its where I found the files for my g930 that worked fine that I got from somebody. Since nobody has paid and released the edge files you're probably gonna have to pay for them yourself. I recommend buying a pre-paid visa with about $16-17 dollars on it instead of putting your credit card down cause I don't know if you would want to trust this website, but I don't completely know if that would work. The files themselves cost $16 I was told. Good luck my friend, best of wishes.

[Q] Sim card not read. Imei and other stuff set to unkown

Hi guys.
I've rooted my phone then updated the room too crash.
After the room settled down, I manually reboot it after then persistent boot loops happened and the imei was also gone(I've tried to go to sretings as quick as possible). I tried re flashing the ROM but no avail.
Is there a workaround for this?
Thanks in advance guys.
Edit: I'm now on KitKat

it won't resolve the no IMEI part AFAIK.
Hi again
Sorry for the confusion. My phone crashed during office hours and can't think elaborate more.
The situation.
1. I came from Omega Rom v6. Decided to manually reboot because battery was draining like hell.
2. The samsung intro (samsung galaxy note 3 sm-9005 screen with the system message on the upper left) didn't show up with the said message.
3. Bootloop comenced.
4. Reflashed Omega hoping things would turn out ok. But no. My sim was not read and my interface buttons are not responding.
EDIT:
5. Then decided to flash new android os. Naming kitkat.
6. Bootloops are gone. And so is my IMEI and every other stuff found in that page.

Ah OK, so flash the EFS fix zip, then install Kitkat via Odin and you should be set.

Keep that EFS fix script on your SD card for just incase reasons in the future, it'll save you again one day... EFS on the Note is really hit and miss. Glad you got sorted

I was about to break down during office hours. Was thinking I am already carrying a $720 brick.
Thanks a lot guys.
Side note: I read this script a few days back even before trying to root my phone. @[email protected] never occurred to me that this script would save me.

Emergency Code for KIES

My phone is really jacked up. Nothing that I flash will stick. I can't boot into recovery to flash off my sd card. Does anyone know a code to get the emergency firmware repair to work on KIES? Or what model number to put in? I put SPL-720 adn JFLTESPR.... Neither works.
Did a quick search http://www.samsung.com/us/support/faq/FAQ00052703/61329 I don't know if that is any help. Never had this issue before

Yeah, that is directions that are available on KIES. I'm not getting a code though to start the repair, even though the screen on my phone says to connect to KIES and start the emergency firmware process. When I connect it the KES says it's not compatible.
hmmm You are positive you have the right Samsung drivers installed correct? I do kinda remember reading somewhere about this with someone else....also try different usb cords.
---------- Post added at 11:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:27 AM ----------
try this also http://www.samsung.com/us/support/faq/FAQ00029015/29183
Maybe this will help you also http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQvaxWY3Dlg
I also remember reading this from someone else, but don't remember if there was a solution. If you can track down that thread, you may get more info.
In addition to trying other usb cables, also try different usb ports on your computer. I remember that from the OG epic days
Kies sucks for this, you are better off taking it into Sprint and letting the flash it for you. They should be able to do it for you without any hassle. Just make sure you go to one with a repair center.

[Q] Help a Noob please? Flashing the Stock ROM won't work

Hello, I am new to these forums as well as owning an Android device, and was directed here from Reddit when I posted my question there. to save time, I'll simply copy/paste my explanation of my predicament from Reddit, but if I seem to be leaving something out, please tell me so I can offer up as much information as I can.
"I've owned a Galaxy S5 for a little over 2 weeks, and for the past 4-5 Days, any time I try to Turn it on, I receive a message that says "Secure Fail: Modem", in red letters at the top left of the screen, and in the middle there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation point with the following text underneath "System software unauthorized by verizon has been detected on your device. please shut Down and go to the nearest verizon store" I'm 17, and currently staying at Governor's school, so I didn't have a ride until yesterday when my Dad and Uncle came to help me try to fix my phone. We went to the Verizon store, where they said that it looked at though I had tried to "root" the phone, which I haven't. My theory is that this is the result of a pokemon game I downloaded from the internet for an emulator. We Called tech support who couldn't help us, but after a little Research, I tried downloading Odin and flashing it with the Stock Rom, but every time I do that, I get the same Error message, regardless of whether I wipe the phone first, or Remove the sim card or whatever, so I don't know what I'm doing wrong and thought that maybe reddit could help me."
I've tried to flash the stock rom several times as per the following video: apparently I cannot link to outside content; however, the video is titled "How to Flash Stock Firmware for Galaxy S5 [All Variants] by Odin3" on youtube
if anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Restart your phone in recovery mode by shutting the phone down and then starting it back up by holding the home, volume up and the power keys until you see the blue text at the top of the phone saying recovery booting. When it boots into recovery use the volume key to select wipe cache partition and then press the power key to run that. Then select wipe data/factory reset and run that. When that's done select reboot system and see if it starts normally. If that doesn't work try Odin with the tar and pit file.

I've tried all of that, even the pit file, it's still telling me that it detects system software unauthorized by verizon, and I don't know why or how it would if I've supposedly wiped the phone clear several times over

I use this method and it worked great. I suggest you try it again, to include re downloading the tar file. Follow the straightforward instructions. Leave your phone connected to the computer even after you flash the tar. It will go through the whole reboot process while connected to the computer. If you still have problems, ask mrxtc (op). I see him all over the place and he seems pretty good at helping people fix problems.

everything I downloaded was from the google play store, with the exception of the "pokemon emerald" rom from coolrom.com. I hadn't attempted to root the phone prior, I didn't even know what that meant until I googled the error message. that actually brought me to a thread on this site where somebody had tried to root their S3 and got the same message. as for the model of the phone, all I know is that it's an S5 and that I got it at Verizon.

Other than what I posted in the recovery thread and what I posted a few posts up that's pretty much it. You could try the nand erase all and efs clear options, check the screen shot and make sure your check boxes are correct. Also if you didn't download the files from the thread I posted I suggest you do. Honestly if none of what was already suggested doesn't work I would contact Samsung. I've had and seen your error before and successfully reset my phone before.

i guess my question was how did you try to run the rom? its a long shot but thinkin since technically its a rom file maybe you used it wrong.. also, theres dev edition s5 and retail s5 for vzw so it does matter which model you have and which odin files youre trying to use.. since phone is less than a year old, id contact samsung if you cant get it fixed and theyll send you a return kit and reflash the software for you.. something similar happened to someone with an s5 active on att n samsungs gonna help him.. only reason he needs to send it in however is cuz there is no s5 active tar available yet for him to odin. you should b able to on yours but hard to fix without having the device in hand and u saying uve tried everything

how do I tell the difference between the dev and retail editions?
I'll see about contacting samsung, since I seemed to have bricked it.

theres a soft brick (recoverable) and a hard brick (not recoverable).. normally a hard brick your phone wont come on or go into any mode at all.. soft brick is when it starts up but either bootloops or wont boot at all into the os (like yours).. im just lost as to why it wont work! crazy.. if u got at vzw and dont know what a dev edition is then u most likely have a retail s5 so mister odin guide should work..

Yea man it worked for me too. If you can get to stock recovery or Odin mode you should be able to do it. Factory reset and clear cache a whole bunch of times.
Just wanted to add I had the same error recently and tried everything. Nothing would fix
Seeing this twice in just a few days has me wondering if VZW has something buried in NK2 ...
I just registered because I'm having this same problem and haven't been able to solve it. I've never flashed any of my phones until last night, because of this error. I followed the instructions in Misterxtc's thread, but no dice. Still looking for help.

The only way I can do that is to get the phone to boot, which it will not get past the error stated in this thread: "SECURE FAIL: modem" I just tried to get all of that to work (sorry the late response was at work) and again it's a no go, I'm going to take it to Verizon, but I'm not optimistic about what kind of results I'm going to get there.
The phone came with the NI2 SW to begin with, and I tried to install that with Odin. gets me about half a second of the normal Samsung splash screen then straight back into the error, after that first boot, no splash only the error.
Thanks for the suggestions though.

Anyone know how I determine which tar file I should be using (NE9, NCG, etc)? I've got a SM-G900V and I think I've pretty much tried all of the tar files via this link - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784880.

You might also try the odin method here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...nt/firmware-safe-upgrade-to-lollipop-t3313224
I believe you will have to re-odin twrp after this install.

He doesn't seem to be able to articulate what he's flashed. I'm not even sure he's on a Verizon phone.
I suggested that he Odin back to stock in his other thread and gave him the same thread you did. I'm not sure he's up to do even that.
Note: He'd have to re root if he uses the Odin method. I don't think he can Kies back. It won't recognize the ROM.

will this work for Virgin mobile as well? I haven 't had a need yet...but knowing meeee...eventually.
Worked for my VM version of the phone. I think the phone sets itself from the network(Sprint, Boost, Virgin) when you activate it.
Very well ,Confirmed Works on boost mobile only method. helps me get off or bypass screen massage Blocked by FRP ,flashed with Odin thanks
Thank you very much! Also for the confirmation it works..... (i did hit the thanks button)
Downloading now,....... Just got this device due to a insurance claim so this is a completelt new phone to me and I really want to either start or add to one specific form till we get a complete spot on the fourms.... Any way my ideal or a good ideal for us is to add everthing that is confirmed working as on today and add it to one fourm and reserve like 10 entrys for specific problems and the solutions. Or just in a easy format so everything is not so confusing till we get our device a Fourm started instead of a thread thats confusing and hard to follow.... Anyone with me???? Its a new device and we need development so bad.. im stuck in a bootloop as of now and cant find the info to help me and its so aggervating.... someone will have to maintain it of course

I have followed all steps. I am using the J727p for boost. It turned on loaded up normally for me then when I restarted the phone it is now stuck in a boot load it gets to the Samsung screen then shuts off and repeats.

this fixed my blinking:
rpmb provisioned ...pink
rpmb fuse: 1 ...yellow
recovery booting ...blue
This does not work. I've tried it multiple times on multiple versions of Odin. This will not work if you use Boost Mobile. It either fails, hangs at flashing boot.img, or hangs at SetupConnection.

This works to get you back to stock from bootloop. I tried my hand at rooting this little SOB (TWRP,Magisk) and tripped the Knox counter bc I forgot to wipe it. Reboot came up with "Validation Failure" and I was stuck. I stumbled over this post and with nothing to lose other than $130.
First piece of advice...Use Odin 3.12.3 ONLY!! I tried the latest version and it didn't work. Download the files, place them in the appropriate boxes and flash. reboot into recovery, wipe the cache/data and you should be good. Mine took quite a while after hanging on the Boost mobile splash screen, but about 3 reboots later, it brought me to the configuration screen. It's up, running and I even got the OTA software update, but then again, it is stock.
