I did a search and could not find anything useful. I downgraded from beta to N 7.0 and despite better battery life, I have this really annoying experience with my phone. I have ticked the battery saver option on with low battery on, and as soon as the yellow bars appear to show 15% battery, it suddenly starts shut down process and then refuses to power on again until connected to charger.
That is cheating in my opinion, since I always assume I have 15% battery left.
Any solutions or thoughts as to why this happens?
If it's cutting out at 15% and you know it's not software it seems like it would be the battery. I deal with phone repairs on a daily basis and I see this a lot.
Same exact thing is happening it me. I thought it was a 7.1 bug, but it's just happening now and I've had 7.1 since day one and have gone below 15% many times.

Mine began doing it when I upgraded to 7.1 as well. It's a known issue and I don't know if there is a fix.
Here is the main thread where some "fixes" are posted - http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/help/phone-dies-15-time-figure-issue-t3482597

My N4 started to have battery issues after the kitkat update lasting no longer than 6 hours even turned off. It also started to take longer to charge and gradually this got worse and now all I get is a red light when plugged in but I can't turn it on now.
I guess my battery is stuffed, but could it be that the upgrade did this or (I hope) it was just a coincidence.
I've ordered a new battery and tools but I would appreciate your thoughts on this.

It has been written that the battery shouldn't be run down past 15%. I don't know this for a fact, but that could be one of the issues. Another issue would be an app that is constantly running, but there's no way to find out if you can't boot the phone.
As far as the upgrade is concerned, it's iffy at best because a lot of people have upgraded with no problems.

Too me, I bought my 2 days ago, my battery is draining too much fast than should be, I think this 4.4.2 have something bugged that start to drain all the battery, only with screen awake after 3 hours my battery is 30% only with browser and menu s...
Try go to 4.3 again and then you see if is the battery or the rom...
So a lot of people and myself over on the Nexus 6P subreddit have been discussing about the possibility of some sort of battery drain with the arrival of the Feb patch. On any ROM/kernel combination (and even on stock at some point), my phone very easily reaches 4:45-5:00 of screen time throughout a day that is from 7am-10pm for me. Over the last month, it has progressively gotten worse, on some days reaching low levels with just 3:30 SoT. After using various ROMs, I decided to try out bone stock to see if I would get the same result (this was 3 days ago). And that has been the case... The phone barely reaches 4 hours of screen time.
Well you might suggest: "Disable services such as location and sync" or "What apps have you recently installed that could be causing drains?" And that's the thing. My usage patterns have not changed at all. I barely download new apps and always stick to using the same ones. Today my location was off for a very long time and I've still gotten the same battery. I've been keeping my eye on the awake bar on battery info, and the phone sleeps as it should, so I'm sure there aren't any rogue apps.
I am seeing this as well. I actually went back to stock to see if it was the ROM I was using. Seeing the same battery degradation on stock. Running MMB29Q with Feb security patch as you can see from screen shot. Wonder if Google is aware of this. Cannot be a coincidence.

Haven't noticed this at all, I'm getting the exact same battery performance as I always have.
I haven't noticed any extra battery drain either.
I definitely noticed this myself.
I did a factory reset and it seems to have helped, but I've only tested it for one day since.

I have bought this phone in the beginning of February and my battery experience is TERRIBLE. It drained 20% battery in 16h with 17 mins SOT. I'm extremely disappointed in this device. I tried Stock, chroma and Pure Nexus and even when 0 apps are installed my battery goes AWOL. Really this is a nightmare where I paid alot of money for this phone and it acts like a personal energy waste device.

1.2%/hr drain isn't great, but not bad either depending on reception/installed-apps/notification/etc
I'm running 6.0.1 feb patch. Get about 0.6%/hr screenoff drain, but I'm mostly on good wifi connection. If running around town on LTE i'd get some where around 1% screen off drain.
I've noticed that ever since the Feb security patch, the battery has drained a little faster than usual also, with no change in usage behavior.... Can someone please notify google about this?
I have not noticed anything different.
Running stock with ElementalX kernel.
I've been noticing the same thing. I used to be able to go for 4+hrs of screen on. Now, 3.5 is normal. I am on PureNexus, but I've not changed anything in the last month, after the update.
I bought the phone on 28th February. 30 minutes after arrive at home, flashed Cyanogen, and draining about 1% each minute with screen on.
Yesterday I flashed PureNexus and now reaches 3.5 hours with screen on. Way better, but still terrible.
I've noticed the same increased battery drain. I've been investigating the issue for weeks and didn't know what caused the issue until hitting this thread.
The February update introduced the SystemUpdateService wakelock on my 6P. It kept the phone awake 95% of the time and I couldn't get rid of it. I updated via fastboot with the factory images at the time. I flashed back to the January build and the wakelock disappeared. Flashed the February update again and SystemUpdateService wakelock came right back.
I didn't try a clean install with the February factory images to see if it would fix it. Maybe it would have, maybe not. I decided to give Pure Nexus a try after I couldn't fix it. I'm considering doing a clean install once the March update is released.

Same battery issues as described for me.
I am glad to see that I am not the only one having a problem all of a sudden. I am running stock, but was about to root and run a custom ROM after becoming frustrated with the suddenly increased battery drain. I used to drop only three or 4% overnight, but now it is about 20%, with Google App being a prime user of battery even without OK Google being activated. Doze does not seem to be working as it did before. I am going to try shutting off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth at night to see if that makes a difference, but it never seemed to matter before leaving those on. Also, I do not see a way to automatically turn off push mail service at night or on a specific schedule as I could do with previous phones.
I'm glad. I thought I was the only one experiencing this.

Interesting - I have noticed that the battery life has tanked on my 5X fairly recently (been using it for a few weeks - will try on the 6P next).
Presumed it was just a rogue app or something, although nothing seems to be causing excessive wake locks etc. It is hard to quantify though, so it could just be looking for a problem where there isn't one.
I'm doing a clean install on my Nexus 6P from the March security update factory images, should be able to see if the battery life I'm getting is similar to January as I have a fair idea of what percentage my phone was usually down to at the end of the day.
A clean install of 6.0.1 with Feb patch and only stock apps. It's been sitting on my bed since a full charge 5 days ago. Looks like the Feb patch is not having much of an impact on battery life.
6P has been shutting down early for a while now, usually like 10% or less which never really bothered me. Battery life seemed decent, but I never really tracked it.
Last week it started going off at 15-30% at times. But it can be random. Might go below 10% one time, next shuts off at 30%. This was on a prior version of Pure Nexus. So I tried updating to the latest build. First charge it shut down at 40%. Same crap tho, random shut off times. Today it shut down at 48%. By shut down, I mean it just suddenly gives the low battery warning, reports 0% and turns off. Many times I can restart the phone, and it will say like 1-3%, and let me use it for a while before turning off again. This most recent one at the 48% shutdown, I restarted it, showed 1%, used it for a while before it turned off again. Restarted, now shows 18%.
Wtf? Is this just a charge level reporting issue? Tried battery repair/calibration apps/techniques with no success. Nothing looks bad with regards to apps/services draining the battery. I tried accubattery and says I'm at 70% health. Don't even get 2 hours of SOT. Have a replacement battery in the mail. Think this will solve the issues?
It's known issue with some factory battery's for some reason the phone is thinking the battery is low and shutting down even though it's reporting let's say 50%. I didn't have this issue until I bought a cheap replacement would shut down at random percentages especially when opening something power hungry like camera. The only thing you can do is get a replacement and change or send it in to get changed. If you replace it yourself I suggest testing the battery before you put the phone back together. I think the 6p is a great phone and worth it to replace the battery. That just my opinion best of luck. ?

@ 70% your battery has been toast for quite a while. This degradation doesn't happen overnight. If you did your research and purchased one of the "good" replacement batteries from a known good vendor then, yes it will likely completely solve your problem. If you just bought a random battery from Ebay or BFE, then you may have another dud on your hands. Suggest testing the new battery with Accubattery before sealing it back up. Best of luck.

Interesting. Did notice a couple of the times it shut down, and it was this last time at 48% as well, was when opening a power hungry game. And yes I agree the 6p is still awesome today, by far the longest I've had a phone. Considered getting the Pixel 2 XL, but it's a waste of money to me if I can get the 6P working well again.

Hmm, yeah I grabbed one off ebay. Had over 500 sold though, so hopefully not too terrible, but I will test.
I think it has really degraded in the last ~6 months. Possibly from numerous partial charges? Got a new job in April, and I'm often traveling to different sites only 10-15 minutes apart. During this time plug it into my car for Android Auto.
Thanks for the help guys!
In the same boat (But I have a solution for me)
2 weeks ago I upgraded from a beaten GS6 Edge and I am quite fond of my new phone. However I started experiencing this issue, ignored it for the first week since my S6 at 100% battery would die in an hour or two, if I'm lucky. Then the battery problem became an interest to me. I had read a lot of threads on the issue, some saying its a hardware problem, and some saying just a software bug that hasn't (or can't) be fixed. SOOOO at this point I said screw it and just accepted my phone battery as it is. Installed Dirty Unicorns Rom, messed with settings, and boom a breakthrough (I think). DU has a feature called smart pixels in which to save battery life turns off a percentage of the pixels. Wasn't to fond of this at first, but in order to make my 60 - 70 percent battery last i set it to the lowest setting. Every since then I have had maybe one random shutdown, it's only been a week and a lot could change but for me its working pretty well.
Sidenote: I found that not using camera apps, nor Google assistant had also prevented random shutdowns (this helped me with smart pixels enabled and disabled, if you wanna give it ago on stock)
Hello guys. I am experiencing random shutting downs on my phone too. I bought it in January 2017.
What I have observed and today was confirmed is that I have these unexpected shutting down when I charge the phone with fast charge. Today my phone was at 60% and shut down. When I plugged my phone on the charger, the phone was again at 60%!!! How was it possible? I think the problem might be the battery or the internal controller of the charging system...
Recently, my XT1575 has been suffering from extreme battery issues. First, my phone battery would last about 6h but die (screen turns off with absolutely no warning). Recently however, my phone will last around 3-4 hours before dying. I was running the same flash of AICP before and after the issue developed, and have now switched to crDroid to see if the issue would be fixed, but it was not. I have included a screenshot of my battery graph by the end of the day. Please note that the gaps between the parts in the graph were only about 2-5min in real life, but show up as significantly longer in the graph for some reason. One thing I have noticed is as if the battery completed flat lines when it is not in use. It is almost as if it is forgetting to count down the battery so it thinks it has more battery than it actually has, but something lower level in the phone knows it doesn't have that much so it shuts down. Any ideas?

Guys I am experiencing a very strange problem with my battery. Starting a few months ago the phone began to drain battery a lot, lasting for about 5 hours depending on the use. That problem only got worse with time and now the phone cannot keep on at all. It shut down even with 85% or more battery. If you plug the charger it will boot and the battery will be about the same it was when it shutdown. Yet the phone won’t stand the boot if it is not plugged in the charger.
I have no idea what went wrong here. Ampere show health as good but clearly there is a problem. I even downgraded the OS to 7.1.1 to check the battery life and it stood the same...
Any suggestions? Sorry if my English is not perfect, it is not my first language.
Known battery issue. Get battery replacement.

I got same issue on my Nexus 6p. So now I have only one chiise.... Replace the battery
Just go on eBay and get one no originals available. My first replacement was a dud so if your doing yourself test the battery before you put the back on. You can just put your case temporarily over top. The sellers need good ratings so if you have any issues they will immediately send a replacement.
