I am running stock rooted with busy box and EX Kernel.
I have a 2016 Silverado with Android auto. The phone is
Not recognized when hooked to vehicle. I read that this is a known problem with the moto g. I was wondering if anyone has used a custom ROM that will let the moto g work with Android auto. Maybe a Nexus based ROM?
I appreciate any info.
android auto isnt available in every country first search for it in the play store if it doesnt pop up its possible to download the apk from apk mirror and installit from there im from belgium and here it isnt possible i installed it and everything worked perfectly (on phone, i don't own a car and my gf's one is really old,
good luck
Hi mikxx
I am in Texas. I have the Android auto app and a vehicle with Android auto in the software. When I hook my phone to the vehicle via USB my vehicle does not see the phone. I want to know if anyone has used a custom ROM on a moto g4plus and connected to Android auto. If so what ROM. Thanks...

Texas is The Greatest Nation in the US.
But, if you're using Bluetooth, you don't need to connect it via USB. I use an RF Transmitter and, thanks to the new update, I use Android Auto app. Sometimes my transmitter won't see my phone right away and I turn the Bluetooth off, then back on, then it connects no problem. I'm on Beanstalk 7.1 now, but I've been using this transmitter for almost a year. With Viper4Android, my crappy old car's speakers sound effing amazing.
I can hookup via Bluetooth. I can use the phone and play iHeartRadio. My android auto app does not work. So I can't get my Google maps on the screen of the radio. Your saying your moto g4 with beanstalk 7.1 does work. Thanks for the info I will be updating to beanstalk.
Just an update I tried beanstalk 7.1 and no go. The USB just charge the phone and will play music through it, but Android auto app does not connect. Thanks

I am not sure that this would be the right board to post in, but after working on this issue, I decided that it is probably better suited to the Droid X community than a Kenwood Car Stereo community.
I have a Kenwood DNX5140 w/ a Bluetooth module in my car. One of the features, in addition to phonebook access and handsfree bluetooth calling and media, I can send/receive texts from my head unit. However, whenever I flash to a new rom that isn't stock, (currently on MIUI 1.9.9), I lose this ability.
My question is, what is it that actually allows this type of functionality to be enabled? Is it an .apk? Or some random file on the phone in stock that isn't on MIUI (or any custom ROM for that matter). If possible, a link to a fix/attachment of a file to re-enable this would be great.
Thanks!
bump. Anyone?
Come on. Someone has to have an idea.
I recently got a Kenwood radio for my car with bluetooth, after some playing with the radio and my phone I finally got them to connect, not sure what model it was, i payed around 230 for it though

For those anxious to get 4.4.4 you might try liquidsmooth which now incorporates it and runs on most if not all moto-x's. It's been upgraded to 4.4.4. Unfortunately, bluetooth is still not working correctly for me and if I try to pair the phone with my car, the car's system goes into a slow endless loop where the phone is connected and then disconnected. I am going to try to see if there is some way to get the phone working with my car....it's very frustrating because the moto-x has never connected correctly (galaxy nexus was flawless in this regard).
I am guessing that it isn't built on the 444 kernel, so, don't get too discouraged yet

What year make and model do you have? I have a 2011 Ford Edge and 2011 Ford Fusion, both of which use Ford Sync (Suck), and I have no issues with either.
Also, are you stock, or running a custom ROM? You seem to be running a custom ROM, and in that case, all bets are off.

It is 4.4.4 kernel. I think I've found the issue and it's unique to "techies". I have a pebble smart watch which uses google...the connection to the car system (2014 MB) uses bluetooth. If I don't wear my watch, the connection to the car works...no loops/etc. When I wear the watch in the car, the car/phone link goes all screwy. I suspect that one of the bluetooth stacks doesn't like to share....and I'd bet it's the moto-x stack which can either use the bluetooth or the car link, but not manage both together, even though everything is paired correctly. I haven't checked to see if pebble and the MB use the same protocols...it may be that they both share txt even though I only need phone on the car link.
I'll post more when I get further into this....I just stumbled on the cause today when I didn't wear the watch and repaired the phone with the 4.4.4 kernel.

I've heard them all, but we've had precisely zero issues with the Fusion, and one with the Edge that was fixed free of charge due to silent recall.
My only issue with Sync is that my Fusion has the Gen 1 version, and the most recent software update removed the key reason I chose this car over the then comparable Sonata. Without that feature, I would have gone with the Sonata.
I recently purchased the N6P to replace my dying N4. The transition from one device to the other has gone pretty well, except for one issue. My N6P is unable to find the bluetooth signal from my Ford Fusion. Upon turning on bluetooth and searching for devices, the N6P cannot find the Ford Sync signal. I've rebooted the phone many times, Ive tried it many times in safe mode with no success, Ive turned the Sync's bluetooth on and off numerous times, the phone is still unable to detect it. I have also tried deleting all the paired devices on the Sync settings and had no luck with the N6P working. Aside from a factory reset of the phone, what else can I do?
My N4 was able to connect to the Sync right up to when I stopped using it. My fiancee's Samsung Galaxy (something) can detect, connect, and function with the Sync's bluetooth. I am beginning to think its something with the N6P. Ive tried it on all three versions of the OS Ive had on the phone. The original OS version didn't work when I first powered up the N6P, the next version of the OS i updated to didn't work, and this morning the phone ran the latest update and the bluetooth doesnt work.
I'm at a loss, I'm ready to return this phone and go back to my dying N4.
Edit: I am currently running Android 6.0.1.
My wife's N5x has the same problem with our ford sync, I think its related to the bluetooth disconnection bug I've had since the may update.
You can still connect it by opening the bluetooth screen on your phone so that it is visible to other devices and in the sync setup tell sync to search for devices and select your nexus phone.
My wife and I both own Nexus 6p's. I just bought a brand new Ford F-150 and my wife has a 2014 Toyota mini van (forget the model name off the top of my head, but still a fairly new vehicle). Neither one of our Nexus 6p's will connect to with vehicle. Prior to our Nexus 6p's (which I really had to talk my wife in to getting a Nexus 6p) our LG G4 and Note 5 connected flawlessly. I even bought a Bluetooth thing that plugs in to my trucks aux and that works after turning the Bluetooth on and off a few times. Totally freaking unacceptable. We both have Nexus Protect on both devices, but don't think a new Nexus 6p will fix the issue. No problem at all with Google maps other than audio coming through my brand new trucks speakers. Smh. Both of our phones are not rooted or changed in anyway. Out of the box stock.

Confirm working in Nissan Frontier. Wonder why its certain auto manufacturers?
Works in 2014 Toyota Camry.
Mine works with zero problems in my '13 Fusion Ti. I also have a bluetooth adapter for torque plugged in with no hiccups. Is your sync software up to date?
Mine detects fine , but once connected I loose all system sound. i.e I can't hear map prompts anymore. Anyone knows a fix for this ?

I can verify that I have this experience as well in one of my cars with an aftermarket bluetooth Sony head unit (that supports A2DP streaming). Haven't checked in the Nissan yet (no A2DP), but I will tonight.
Bluetooth on this model sure has some "quirks".....
I have a 2015 fusion Ti & N6P I have had zero issues. however i will say my bluetooth connection is much more stable after updating SYNC to the latest version. Bit of a pain because you have to create a ford account to gain access to the instructions/files. but here is the URL to get you started: https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/how-tos/keep-your-sync-up-to-date.html
I also have a Ford Fusion 2015 and I have no problems connecting to SYNC. It also connects just fine with my wife's Ford Escape. Which month's build are you using? Is your radio up to date? I don't think I've ever updated the SYNC software in either vehicle so I'm not sure it's that. Make sure BT is on and you have the BT page in settings open so that both devices can see each other. Then go into the car's phone menu and add a device. That's how I did it. Make sure the vehicle is not moving or preferably in park. Good luck.
It magically connected right after I posted above. Now I'm afraid to install the June security patch lol. Working flawlessly in my F-150 though.

As I could get a new car in the coming weeks/months I am starting to check every details.
The 6t doesn't have mirrorlink out of the box but can we have it thanks to root? A rom with this function?
Meanwhile I downloaded and installed from apkmirror the htc mirrorlink apk successfully, though no idea if it will work in real
Btw mirrorlink needs a specific hardware or it's just software?
I use android auto, but my car also supports mirrorlink. I haven't found anyway to get it working on this OP6T.
Looking for same solution here.

It looks like Omnirom has it, please try this rom and tell us if it works
Yesterday I tried android auto on my future car, I also added aa phenotype and aa mirror to mimick mirrorlink and it worked!!
Just like miracast works with TVs, everything on my 6t screen is mirrored on the c3 aircross screen and they can be touch controlled from there
I don't know if the 6t screen has to be On all the time or not though
You have links and steps to reproduce your success? Actually, I was able to install AA Mirror and AA Phenom and got AA Mirror to show up in the Android main menu and it works.
But, there are still audio/notification issues while connected via USB. Hoping to resolve this by bypassing this crappy Android Auto. Bought a car and looked specifically for this feature, only to have Google who apparently can't make notifcations work while connected via USB cable the past 5 months. Unreal.
Hence, why I'm trying to find a Mirror Link that runs on Android on the OnePlus 6T, custom Rom whatever...to try and get it working. Thx

Couldn't get it to boot...well, it did boot. But, not wifi, no VZW, kept flashing apps closure on the main screen. Soo....gave up on that idea.
I have tried the latest version of Omnirom and there is no mirrorlink link support so have gone back to stock. I wouldn't even mind going back to an older ROM just to get mirrorlink

Tried it too in the last weekend, no mirrorlink.
I am gonna switch to an S10 soon, at least it will have both AA and mirrorlink.
Dunno why we can't do voice calls with whatsapp or listen to a voice message under AA
I don't know how true, however T-Mobile support states that "Mirror screen on car display" works:
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-38933
I think the T-Mobile site is misleading in that the phone won't mirror anything that isn't in android auto and the bit about Chromecast is about displays not car head units.
That being said aa mirror and aa phenotype changer works with android auto 4.7 and lower as well as android Q. AA browser didn't work in 10/4.7 but web view auto did. Car stream 2.04 works in 10 and 4.7 as well. These look better if you can get the new ui. Working.

How did you make it work? What is aa phenotype and aa mirror? Android auto does work on the C3, why bother using MirrorLink? I try to get it to work on a Peugeot 208 because it has no Android Auto for a weird reason...
Anyone have luck with getting android auto to work on your roadanvi units? I cannot get it working.
I see similar questions frequently here.
With 8g / 128g your unit has absolutely sufficient resources to run all the apps you would need by itself so just load the apps directly on the unit and put away your phone. Why anyone in your situation wants Android Auto escapes me.

Internet.no matter how you swing it, you have to connect your radio to the internet to use all those apps, plus it's much more snappier to use all those apps when they are being accessed through Android auto vs just adding the apps to the radio and using them. Also call audio is horrible over Bluetooth for some reason.

I've been doing the phone Hotspot thing for a while but that is still relatively a few more clicks than I would like to do when getting in my car. I would like to get in May car plug in my phone, and just use it, not plug it in, turn on Hotspot click on radio, make sure it connects to Hotspot, then run Spotify then go home and then run Google maps.

So I do but autolink just gets stuck on the connecting message. There have been a. Few times were it briefly went all the way through to Android auto but it closes like 5 seconds later.
Well if i was you would i first try to unbind Autolink to your phone (and the same on the headunit) then reconnect everything again be sure to have bluetooth and WiFi activated when u do this. If the same problem still occur.
Try Tlink 1.95 (im not sure it will work for your headunit but its worth give it a try) to activate it must you be online (WiFi hotspot or similar) in the settings of Tlink can you choose several settings like autoconnect on wireless/wired and so on and it will autostart Android Auto.
Check your Autolink settings also and see if you have it set to autoconnect and if its a activated version.
Here is a link to Tlink 1.95

I wonder if that's the same issue then, both for my Porta register a connection but it just doesn't translate to android auto
UPDATE: Finally got android auto to work. its very glitchy sadly. My process was to uninstal the various Link apps, uninstall android auto, uninstall head unit reloaded.
Then reinstall Android Auto, Autolink, and head unit reloaded. Android auto will still give the "auto no longer available on android devices" message and autolink will never say connected but as long as I open all 3 apps then plug in my phone, it will start the android auto interface. As I said before, its still very laggy, almost unusable at times and I've still not able to play any music. Anytime i press play, it plays for 5 seconds and shuts off, this has been an issue outside of android auto as well.
