I recently purchased the N6P to replace my dying N4. The transition from one device to the other has gone pretty well, except for one issue. My N6P is unable to find the bluetooth signal from my Ford Fusion. Upon turning on bluetooth and searching for devices, the N6P cannot find the Ford Sync signal. I've rebooted the phone many times, Ive tried it many times in safe mode with no success, Ive turned the Sync's bluetooth on and off numerous times, the phone is still unable to detect it. I have also tried deleting all the paired devices on the Sync settings and had no luck with the N6P working. Aside from a factory reset of the phone, what else can I do?
My N4 was able to connect to the Sync right up to when I stopped using it. My fiancee's Samsung Galaxy (something) can detect, connect, and function with the Sync's bluetooth. I am beginning to think its something with the N6P. Ive tried it on all three versions of the OS Ive had on the phone. The original OS version didn't work when I first powered up the N6P, the next version of the OS i updated to didn't work, and this morning the phone ran the latest update and the bluetooth doesnt work.
I'm at a loss, I'm ready to return this phone and go back to my dying N4.
Edit: I am currently running Android 6.0.1.
My wife's N5x has the same problem with our ford sync, I think its related to the bluetooth disconnection bug I've had since the may update.
You can still connect it by opening the bluetooth screen on your phone so that it is visible to other devices and in the sync setup tell sync to search for devices and select your nexus phone.
My wife and I both own Nexus 6p's. I just bought a brand new Ford F-150 and my wife has a 2014 Toyota mini van (forget the model name off the top of my head, but still a fairly new vehicle). Neither one of our Nexus 6p's will connect to with vehicle. Prior to our Nexus 6p's (which I really had to talk my wife in to getting a Nexus 6p) our LG G4 and Note 5 connected flawlessly. I even bought a Bluetooth thing that plugs in to my trucks aux and that works after turning the Bluetooth on and off a few times. Totally freaking unacceptable. We both have Nexus Protect on both devices, but don't think a new Nexus 6p will fix the issue. No problem at all with Google maps other than audio coming through my brand new trucks speakers. Smh. Both of our phones are not rooted or changed in anyway. Out of the box stock.

Confirm working in Nissan Frontier. Wonder why its certain auto manufacturers?
Works in 2014 Toyota Camry.
Mine works with zero problems in my '13 Fusion Ti. I also have a bluetooth adapter for torque plugged in with no hiccups. Is your sync software up to date?
Mine detects fine , but once connected I loose all system sound. i.e I can't hear map prompts anymore. Anyone knows a fix for this ?

I can verify that I have this experience as well in one of my cars with an aftermarket bluetooth Sony head unit (that supports A2DP streaming). Haven't checked in the Nissan yet (no A2DP), but I will tonight.
Bluetooth on this model sure has some "quirks".....
I have a 2015 fusion Ti & N6P I have had zero issues. however i will say my bluetooth connection is much more stable after updating SYNC to the latest version. Bit of a pain because you have to create a ford account to gain access to the instructions/files. but here is the URL to get you started: https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/how-tos/keep-your-sync-up-to-date.html
I also have a Ford Fusion 2015 and I have no problems connecting to SYNC. It also connects just fine with my wife's Ford Escape. Which month's build are you using? Is your radio up to date? I don't think I've ever updated the SYNC software in either vehicle so I'm not sure it's that. Make sure BT is on and you have the BT page in settings open so that both devices can see each other. Then go into the car's phone menu and add a device. That's how I did it. Make sure the vehicle is not moving or preferably in park. Good luck.
It magically connected right after I posted above. Now I'm afraid to install the June security patch lol. Working flawlessly in my F-150 though.

My phone connected via bluetooth to my car no problems until yesterday. All of a sudden it stopped working, i noticed no other changes, so i proceeded to try to pair both from my phone end and the car, still wasnt working so i unpaired and removed the device from my car and phone and tried to repair, the car (2012 sonata) tells me to pair from the phone, and on the phone it cannot find the bluetooth of the car.
I was freaking out and thought it was the car, but i tried my tablet and laptop, andboth are able to pick them up, ive tried turning bluetooth on/off and restarting the entire phone,
Has anyone else experienced their bluetooth going out on the s5 yet?
and what do you think would help? factory reset, or manufacturers return for hardware error?

Have you tried pairing your phone with other devices than car? At least, it will confirm that your phone Bluetooth is working fine.

I've been experiencing some issues with my bluetooth in cars and with wireless headsets. it has annoyed me enough to search the forums today.
Issue with Pandora and bluetooth controls can pause, cannot resume play with MS530 wireless headset.
Issue with Pandora and bluetooth controls can pause, cannot resume play with 2012 Volvo S60 T6 R-Design.
Issue with Pandora and bluetooth controls can pause, cannot resume play with 2011 Volvo S60 T6.
Issue with Pandora and bluetooth controls can pause, cannot resume play with Aftermarket Sony deck in my truck (don't have the model handy).
Built in player sometimes has the same issues, I see more issues when the phone is locked. Fingerprint scanner on.
Today bluetooth locked up totally and had to reboot the device. I did not power down my headset before I left range of my phone and came back and it would not re-connect. I unpaired and attempted to repair and it would not. rebooted powered everything off and repaired and it started working again.
Bluetooth has issues on the S5 phones in my opinion. My iphone 5 has no issues at all with everything. locked or not. Was thinking of rooting to see if I could fix some of these issues as I prefer Android as I like the apps better and the openness to get stuff done.

No, it's not a S5 issue, it's an Android issue and it's been continuous since the beginning. These problems have happened with my previous 3 phones too, so don't delude yourself into thinking these are specific to this phone. Or that they will be fixed for that matter...

I disagree.
Bluetooth has worked on all the android models I've had in the past.
Past Android phones:
HTC Hero - worked great, slow though
HTC EVO - worked great
LG Nexus 4 - worked great
Motorola Zoom - worked great
Samsung Moment - Slow but worked
Samsung Epic - worked great
Samsung S3 - worked great
But if you want to blame the OS go for it. I think your alone there. Its a software issue with Samsung crap in my opinion vs security and all the bells and whistles they are trying to use. I think Android has nothing to do with the issue at all.
I have a moto headset with my s5 and no problems. Had no problems with same one on my s4 either so I wouldn't blame all the phones. It's electronics. Things can go won key when you have a lot of parts. It's probably just that. It happens. Even on iPhone's.

I have problems too. Very odd tho. I can pair my phone and listen to my music just fine. However if I try to use my gps while the BT is connected, no audio will cone from the phone or the BT radio. But as soon as I turn off thr BT on my phone, I can hear my gps through my phone just fine.
I haven't done a factory reset yet, but I have cleared thr phone from my car and re-paired.....still nothing.
The even stranger thing....every one in a while it will work, 9 times out of 10 it won't work. It has worked 2 times since I bought the phone, April 25th.
Never had a problem like this before, with other phones.

As I reply to this one person said they have no problems, one said they have problems. I have had the same issues with syncing and playback on my 2 previous phones, neither of them the S5. There are idiosyncrasies that exist in the software (like any software ever) that just don't work sometimes. I don't know why we should think this phone would be any different.
For those anxious to get 4.4.4 you might try liquidsmooth which now incorporates it and runs on most if not all moto-x's. It's been upgraded to 4.4.4. Unfortunately, bluetooth is still not working correctly for me and if I try to pair the phone with my car, the car's system goes into a slow endless loop where the phone is connected and then disconnected. I am going to try to see if there is some way to get the phone working with my car....it's very frustrating because the moto-x has never connected correctly (galaxy nexus was flawless in this regard).
I am guessing that it isn't built on the 444 kernel, so, don't get too discouraged yet

What year make and model do you have? I have a 2011 Ford Edge and 2011 Ford Fusion, both of which use Ford Sync (Suck), and I have no issues with either.
Also, are you stock, or running a custom ROM? You seem to be running a custom ROM, and in that case, all bets are off.

It is 4.4.4 kernel. I think I've found the issue and it's unique to "techies". I have a pebble smart watch which uses google...the connection to the car system (2014 MB) uses bluetooth. If I don't wear my watch, the connection to the car works...no loops/etc. When I wear the watch in the car, the car/phone link goes all screwy. I suspect that one of the bluetooth stacks doesn't like to share....and I'd bet it's the moto-x stack which can either use the bluetooth or the car link, but not manage both together, even though everything is paired correctly. I haven't checked to see if pebble and the MB use the same protocols...it may be that they both share txt even though I only need phone on the car link.
I'll post more when I get further into this....I just stumbled on the cause today when I didn't wear the watch and repaired the phone with the 4.4.4 kernel.

I've heard them all, but we've had precisely zero issues with the Fusion, and one with the Edge that was fixed free of charge due to silent recall.
My only issue with Sync is that my Fusion has the Gen 1 version, and the most recent software update removed the key reason I chose this car over the then comparable Sonata. Without that feature, I would have gone with the Sonata.

Right after the DP5 installation, I had to unpair the phone and car (2016 Mazda) because the phone would never connect. It was no where near as easy as that sounds, took me the better part of 30 minutes because of repeated "unknown errors" coming from the car.
The phone paired up just fine but I still have frequent and completely unexplained dropouts on literally every Bluetooth device I have (headphones, Moto 360, car and the list goes on). So far this has been the absolute worst of the previews for BT that I have ever seen.
But then, if you read around here, it sounds like there were a lot of these that had flaky BT hardware. Have not exchanged mine, but that has certainly been my experience since I bought this back in December.
I have no issues with Bluetooth and the latest DP. I have my phone connected to a Kenwood deck.

I wonder if I have flaky BT hardware? Mine was a launch phone and it has worked perfectly in my Toyota since day 1. However I've recently bought a fitbit type band and with that application (veryfit 2.0) installed and connected to the band then if I make a call in car it drops the BT after about 30 seconds with an error message on screen saying 'corrupted probe message'. I can manually reconnect the call (it's still active on the phone) but after another 30 seconds or so it repeats the cycle. Have upgraded to Nougat Dev Preview NPD90G but still the same. Removing the app and its binding (it binds in the app not the phones BT devices in settings) and rebooting the phone resolves the issue. Tried again with a proper fitbit and the issue is identical.
I will RMA it to see if I get another one that works. Now to figure out how to put it back to stock marshmallow. gulp.

I had this same issue, I flashed the system file again and wiped the cache and dalvik. It seems to be ok now.
Check this solution. Pair with '0000' worked for me.

Since switching from my Nexus 5 with 6.0.1 to a Nexus 6P with 7.0 I am also suffering from bluetooth issues. Pairing itself is not a problem but the connection sometimes drops, controls in my car don't work properly, remaining track time is not shown, etc. Haven't even tried to make calls yet. If I can't find a solution I'll probably be going back to 6.0.1.
The proposed '0000' solution is not working for me as I cannot change the PIN on my Seat Leon (2016). The PIN is autogenerated and shown on both displays to be confirmed upon pairing.
Has anybody tried flashing the latest 6.0.1 radio image and use it with a 7.0 system?
I've had my Z Force for about a week and a half. At first, everything was fine, but now, BT won't automatically connect to all of the trusted devices. It automatically connects to my BT speaker at work, but not the one at home or my Ford Sync.
I'd appreciate any thoughts.
Having an issue with it dropping the connection when paired with the LG Tone Platinum HBS-1100.
I have mine since Tues. Connected to 2014 Honda and Moto 360 and Moto sd 11 headphones. No issues I have noticed, especially in the car. It connects quicker and continues pandora quicker than any phone I have used previously with the car (LG G2, LG G3, Turbo 2). I will soon test with a Ford Sync 3 system, a vizio soundbar, and an ECOXGEAR speaker, and some ihome cheap headphones. Hopefully all goes well.
09 Ford with sync. Having issues as well. Don't have trusted devices set up because of the fingerprint reader, but I do have issues with automatically connecting, especially if I leave the source on Bluetooth audio when I turn the truck off. If I hit the phone button, it will usually reconnect. Don't have any issue with my moto 360 though.
I think it's a Ford sync problem. I have a 2015 fusion. Mine connects but it's delayed. Unfortunately the automotive radios are only designed for specific bt protocols. This is a problem with many car systems. My wife has the same problem with Dodge uconnect and the g5.

But mine worked fine for the first week or 2. It also is a problem with my BT speaker.
Bluetooth Connection
The same thing was happening in my Subaru, so I went into the voice settings of the moto actions app. Once there, choose "Talk to Me" and then touch more options. Once I selected the "audio troubleshooting" button, my car bluetooth problems went away instantly. Maybe something to try if you haven't?
Yeah Ford doesn't have any options like that.
So, the simple fix was to go empty the Bluetooth Share cache. Seems like a simple idea, but I had never needed to do this on any other phone.
I'd had mine a while and one day I noticed my BT wouldn't connect to my speaker at work. So I tested it on all my devices and my Bluetooth doesn't work at all. It will not find any device at all. Yes I've made sure they're all on sync, search, find, whatever the option is. I've cleared cache, tried to dig deeper to find that there are no legitimate settings or options menus, no way to troubleshoot the issue. I even thought an update would fix it as I thought it had updated just before I noticed it not working. Well it's updated again and nope. Still no Bluetooth. I've given up. And to beat all, no damn headphone jack so I gotta remember to carry around my adapter to use an aux cord.
On Bluetooth people can hear me but I cannot hear them.
I have had my Moto Z force for a while now, and all of the sudden when I connect to any Bluetooth device I cannot hear anything when it comes to phone calls. All media works, and people can hear me. I have factory reset the phone to see if this fixes it... But it did not work. Anyone else have an idea or experience this issue?

I have the same problem too 3 days ago. It stopped working randomly. I was running Nougat with December security patch. Tried hard resetting and nothing. Now I updated to the January security patch and I still have the same problem, even after doing another hard reset. Could this be a kernel glitch or a driver issue? Bluetooth says it's on but it won't find any device and I can't pair any device to it. I hope Motorola is looking to fix this because I am from Europe and can't send the device to warranty in the US .

You can send it out, you just need a forwarding US address... You can do this if you do it with a middle-man https://www.shipito.com/ for example. might cost a little more for shipping, but it's an option that you have at least!

Thank you so much! I'll send it to warranty in the end. Moto is going to completely replace it. I'll have a Z Play to play around with meanwhile and then I'll see wich one of the 2 I'll keep.
My Moto Z has a similar issue. I got my first unit last summer and had to return/replace it because the charger melted to the phone (but that's another story). With my new phone, I constantly have trouble connecting to BT. I can almost always connect eventually, but it's NEVER on the first try. I usually have to toggle BT off and on, force stop BT, or restart my phone. So my Bluetooth isn't quite 100% useless, but it's a huge inconvenience any time I need to connect to anything.
Also fyi this is not related to the Ford issue--I'm connecting to headphones and speakers.
Bluetooth on G5
I can't connect to the handsfree on Mitsubishi Mirage
I'm having the same issue. All Bluetooth devices just quit. Headphones, Watch, Car adapter. Everything. I've reset my phone and nothing. Anyone had any success with any fix?
[Update] I think there may be something up because I mentioned it to the customer rep and they immediately said I need to send it in.

Same issue for me.
My Bluetooth is very problematic too. Whenever I connect to car device it just auto-disconnects. FIX THIS PLEASE LENOVO!!!
I have an Atoto S8, and this is my first Android powered head unit (coming from their linux-based F7, which was more of an appliance UI instead of a smart OS). I love the extra functionality it gives me, running apps and video players directly on the unit. But Bluetooth support is wonky.
My wife and I share the car, and ever since swapping to the Android powered unit, it only reconnects to whoever drove last. So if I drive the car all the time, its fine. But when my wife drives, she says bluetooth isn't working, so I have to go into settings on the BT app (BT1 as they call it) and see the three phones listed as paired (my old phone, my new phone and my wife's phone), and click on hers. Wait a bit, and then she is good to go. But then next time I drive, I realize my phone isn't connecting now, so I have to go do it again. Which means she's going to complain next time that her phone isn't working again.
I've installed a few bluetooth powered head units before, and even the Android Auto supporting F7 before this one, worked as expected: If the last device isn't available, try to connect to another recent paired one. It seems to just get stuck on the last one for some reason. Is this a limitation of how bluetooth works on these units?
have you solved this issue
i am finding it very frustrating
i thought i would solve it using the app "automate"
this would star a sequence of checks and sytematic attempted connections
but, oddly enough you cant automate the triggering o fthe flow
so it would only start if actioned
Yes, or rather THEY solved it.
Reach out to customer support. There is an update to the Bluetooth module that makes this work the way I described.
I got an A6pf in my other car and had them make an update for that one too. Much happier now.
