I'm not getting Snapchat, email or eBay notifications on mobile data, only wifi. Any suggestions?
I get SMS notifications off of wifi.
Still haven't found a fix.

My Hd2 stopped recieving emails and couldnt sync with outlook, so I deleted the email accounts and reinstalled them. Same problem. So I did a factory reset and BEHOLD I received emails. While now I am able to receive emails, I cannot connect to wifi, youtube, or facebook. I still cant sync with outlook. Any ideas on how I can get this phone to work correctly. I almost want to sell it and go back to a blackberry. Extremely Dissapointed and frustrated. any help would be grateful.
I had issues getting those apps to work over wifi, but if I turned wifi off, everything would sync just fine.
Hi,
Am having a real problem with email notifications when the phone is locked/asleep while connected to Wifi.
On both my Exchange account and GoogleMail I get instant notifications of new emails when the screen is on, both over WiFi and with a 3G connection. When the screen is off I only get notifications when the phone is on 3G, but NOT over Wifi.
I have tried all manner of WiFi sleep settings and read numerous forum posts but cannot seem to find a solution.
At the moment, the only thing I can do is remember to switch off WiFi before I lock my phone. If I forget, I don't find out about new emails...
Strange thing is that I have encountered the same problem with every build of Android I've tried, NAND, SD etc...
Any ideas? Help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Sorry to harp on about this but it's driving me nuts?
Anyone have any ideas?
I think I'm losing my mind. I could have swore MMS over WIFI was possible before I rooted via the GEOHOT method, but it seems since I did the deed, I am unable to send MMS through the default Messages or Google Hangouts without disconnecting from Wifi hopping on 4G then going back. I double and triple checked I still have mobile data on while connected to my home wifi, so I'm not sure where the issue lies.
Apologies if this is a known issue but a quick thread search yielded no results of similar issue so I figured I'd ask, is this something that can be corrected or is it just due to the setup of the phone and VZW network?
Thanks all!

MMS (multimedia messages with pictures, etc..) uses data to transmit the message. It's normal for an MMS message to use cellular data service even when connected to wifi, since your home or work wifi doesn't have communication with Verizon's cell network.
SMS (simple texts with no attachments, just text) does not use data and would not need to hop over to 4G.
mms over wifi
i just tried, and sent a mms to my email thru wifi but i'm not using the stock messaging app, i have my default set to handcent and it works a bit differently. Additionally my wifi allows me to use 4g while still connected to wifi. I'm running both alliancerom and slymhyde.. i can do it on both through handcent i hopped back and forth with safestrap.

I'm familiar with the data connection handoff when send SMS vs MMS, but thanks for clarifying I just assumed the device would switch from Wifi to 4G or cellular data to send the MMS vs just not sending it at all unless the WiFi was disconnected. I might just have to try 3rd party apps I suppose and see where that takes me. I just liked how Hangouts integrated with my other Google services.
Thanks for the info!
I have an up to date rooted 6P and I've noticed that when wifi is on, I'm not receiving notifications and sync is VERY slow. It'll look like the app in use is frozen. For example, while testing I would send an email to myself from another mail app to my gmail. The outgoing message would never send. As soon as I switch wifi off, it instantly sends. If Wifi is on, I won't get notifications, but as soon as I switch it off, I"m flooded with all of the ones I should have been getting.
I have other android phones laying around connected to my wifi and they get notifications, so I'm thinking it's something with the 6P? The only thing I've thought to change about my router is to put it into bridge mode because I'm using it with a U-Verse gateway, although if the router was the issue, you'd think my other devices would have problems as well.
I've googled the issue a lot and have only found posts from back in Nov-Feb about google apps/gmail specifically and it was something google pushed a fix for. This will be any app, gmail, hangouts, facebook messenger, slack, etc.
I appreciate any advice! Phone has been reset, router rebooted, etc already.
Hi,
Wondering if anyone else has seen this and found a reliable cure. I use K-9 as my email client for several IMAP accounts. I've used it on past phones without issue, but noticed on my V20 I'll randomly see "Sync Disabled" on my K-9 home screen. Although I can still send emails and poll for new emails when that's displayed, push notifications don't arrive.
I've tried changing K-9's Background Sync option to 'Always' to see if that helps - but same issue.
The issue occurs both when I'm on Wifi and 3g/4g. I'm not sure of the exact circumstances, but it's pretty frequent. Usually if I lose and regain mobile signal, or switch from wifi to mobile data (or vice-versa) that resolves the issue for a while.
Signal Messenger receives new messages instantly, so don't think it's a general background sync issue - however K-9 has been completely reliable up until now so would be surprised if it's purely a software issue.
Any thoughts?
Cheers
