Hello,
I am about go get back my phone from the repair and I think I will have ZUI installed as an operating system because they have changed my phone's motherboard. I have a few questions regarding the ZUI. Can the bloatware be removed? If it can only be removed with root, how to root it? Also, an important question, if I root it, will I receive the OTA updates?
Thanks!

You need always root to remove system apps. And how to root, mate it's written here in more then one tread like all in one tool etc. In original Android development or general section. Official updates can disable root, when they will write new boot partition.

So there is no way to remove bloatware without losing the possibility to receive OTA updates?

Yeah, that sucks. Is there at least any way to just hide the icons of the bloatware apps?

Since marshmallow you can disable apps. With other launchers you can hide them, in Zui I don't know if the launcher can hide icons

can install the OTA and then root?
is it still safe to do that so it will work with Dan's bootloader?

Dan said that the current OTA update will not negatively affect his bootloader hack. See his post here.
Also, taking the OTA update will not affect the ability to root.
Future OTA updates might, so be careful.
So , I can update the OTA and then root....
and how can I block next OTA?

Correct. To block future OTA updates, "Freeze" the following three applications:
AT&T Software update Vxx_x_xxxx_x_x
FWUpgrade x.x.x
LocalFOTA vx_xxxx_x_x
Freezing (with Titanium Backup) will keep them from running, and effectively hide them from the rest of your system. Otherwise, you may find a way to backup and uninstall them completely, but this is more risky if you're ever planning to take an OTA update in the future.

I did the OTA for Canadian Bell variant, and then used motochopper's method to root.

If you can find them just rename them to something you'll remember in case you want to rename them back to what they were before. You'll need a root file manager like root explorer.

First, plug phone into computer, and install updater software from the phone that is on the device in 'Installer Mode'. Take the download on the PC, then follow directions below, and you can still have root after.

Hi again,
I installed the upgrade assistant in installer mode but for some reason it is not picking up the new NE9 update on my computer. See attached print screen. Very strange.. It sees the update on my phone to download though.:cyclops: Do you know why this is and how I can get it to see the update on the upgrade assistant as you mentioned?
Kind Regards
Can you explain why you want the update so bad? You do realize that rooting and accepting official otas is completely contradictory, correct? OTAs are generally what fix things like what towelroot exploits. If you accept official OTA, you will likely lose root.
But can't I just re root after the ota? I guess the reason I want the Ota because I heard of camera enhancements and stability fixes

No. OTA have patches for known security flaws as well. The flaw that towelroot relies on is closed after the new OTA. Meaning, no more root.
edit: in this case I believe folks have figured out a work around for keeping root with the update. In general though, if you value root and what it provides you do not accept official releases.

@ks3rv3rg I believe the links mentioned above provide a workaround for the Root to be kept after updating.
As for the problem nick, I can't help you there. I haven't personally take it as I see taking OTA's is silly with a rooted phone you can modify to be much more. Perhaps someone else who has done it will chime in...
Thank you both for your perspectives.. Plus, I can always just wait for a ROM that currently has the update installed.

I think you are referring to my safestrap flashable OTA zip file. I'm going to keep that one in my back pocket for the next OTA since the kernel swap worked.
I'm happy to say I installed this rom and the firmware and it rocks!! Thank you .plus I got my download booster and my overclock settings!!

I have a similar question but reversed. How do I stop it from updating and it from asking me to update? I have the free version of titanium backup and can't freeze it. Is their another way? I can't turn off SDM that runs the ota upgrade i can only force stop it.

You can try package disabler pro. If that don't work then you SOL unless you root.

Yes I tried it but I don't know which app or script has to be disabled.
Update: Using Package Disabler Pro freezes various apps then the next 48 hours I dont recieve any notifications to software updates. In reality, I still dont know which one of the apps prevents the update. The freeze apps are:
AT&T Remote Support
Backup and Restore Manager
ConfigUpdater
DiagMonAgent
Nearby Service
In addition to others such as Direct TV and bloatwares from AT&T that have nothing to do with the software update.
I have an unlocked, rooted G4 Play 1607. I do not want to upgrade to Nougat. I want to keep Android 6. I keep getting Update Notice.
How can I stop the update notice? I can freeze apps, remove apps if I knew which to do.

I did not want the update because I use GravityBox with Xposed. I do not have the Play version any longer but I did get a G4+ and get the update. Xposed is available and I got just what I wanted.
Yes 7.0 Nougat is prettier. But, in my use, there are no significant features I use and the Play is fine. Battery lasts longer on Play then G4+ and I really like the smaller side. I could not resist the special price of $150 including 6 months of free service with Republic.
