Best T Mobile firmware to root? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answer

I just rooted on the t mobile U firmware and I have a few of the common issues. The video calling option isnt there. The wifi password wont save and a few other minor issues. I fixed the wifi password not staying. Now I just wanna salve this video calling issue. The option to turn it on isnt even in the settings. Im just wondering what the most stable set up you guys have seen. The U firmware. The U firmware flashing the cp from t mobile or just the straight t mobile firmware.

If you search for ROOT Samsung S7 Edge, you'll find the issue with the WiFi very quickly. You have to download an app, and change a setting within it to keep it saved. Video calling, never concerned with it.

Video calling is specific to the carrier's custom OS that they use for their phones. That is why you do not see it as an option in the U firmware. It isn't carrier branded. But if you are on tmo, then you should be able to download their video calling app and have it auto integrate into the U firmware for use as normal. Never used it on the S7, so haven't tried it. I did bake it into a few ROMs before that were tmo and it worked fine.

Refer to that link to get video calling working correctly. I am on the tmo U firmware and just tried video calling my wife and it worked as intended. Hope this helps you out. Oh, and just search for volte settings under the actual settings menu of the phone to insure that it is turned on.

I have volte turned on with the icon showing but when I place a call the HD icon does not show within the dialer. How do I know if it is working?

If the other persons carrier supports the function, then a green icon that looks like a camera will show up allowing you to tap it to send a request to the other person. If they accept the request then the video call and HD calling will commence. Now as far as regular old HD calling, once Volte is enabled, every call is considered an HD call as long as you are on an lte tower. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Solved- Not receiving in-bound calls

Tl;dr Settings--> mobile networks --> mobile data --> untick Enhanced LTE Services (This only pertains to AT&T video calls and does NOT disable LTE for data)
After switching firmware from SM-G930A (AT&T) to G930U (unlocked) I initially noticed fast charging wasn't working properly. A few days after cycling the battery a few times I noticed my battery was dwindling hardcore without touching the phone so I decided I'd revert back to stock. After doing so and getting all of my apps and settings to my liking I noticed that no calls were coming through. Text was working, data was working and I could make phone calls out with no problem, no calls would come through so after fiddling around with the settings, factory resetting my phone twice, using odin to flash the files again, un-seating and re-seating my SIM card, I finally caved and called AT&T. They offered the resolution above and thought I'd pass the knowledge around and save others from the head ache I endured. Apparently they are having trouble with video call settings in some devices and mine happened to be one of them. Cheers

After flashing to the unlocked U firmware I was not able to receive calls as well until they read registered me back to the network but now I cannot get voice over LTE calls I have done everything I can to return to stock I already have done it but there's no LTE voice calls anymore

I had the issue of no incoming calls when switching BACK TO the A fw from the U fw. Went back to the U and it's been fine. Fast charging is working fine.
@joe3681 what network are u on and do you have volte working
Check the stock att 935A fw thread. There is a fix for this problem by najoor. It will work on the 930 also.

VoLTE for India - Developer required

All,
We have all gone through multiple discussions on how to enable VoLTE in India with google and huawei not supporting us appropriately. As discussed in the Indian thread, starting this thread to identify a developer who could prove VoLTE would work on Nexus 6p and we could appropriately reward the developer. Looking forward to your thoughts and identifying a developer.
Jio blocked voLTE on Huawei devices I heard. There's nothing the devs could do.

There is no VoLTE in our devices for them to block....
I called huawei India customer support. They say its a hardware related issue. So nothing can be done.
I feel there is some compatibility issues with Jio. Lte keeps on dropping after every 5-10 mins.. Not just volte, even lte doesn't work properly with Jio.

Can someone turn on VoLTE provison in the phone settings by dailing *#*#4636#*#* in dailer and see if this setting makes any difference for Jio?
I'm able to turn it on but when ever i reopen it is going in off state. I'm using Airtel.

Can anybody help me to get into LTE engineering mode of nexus 6p or get into builtin app called HiddenMenu in the system image. Dialer is supposed to respond to these "secret" codes: 33284, 3282, 786 and 7764726790. But all activities of the app require com.permission.HIDDENMENU permission for the caller to hold and the dialer doesn't hold this permission dialing these codes.
Rooting is not helping.

my 6P is running nougat and have a Jio sim. but after granting all the permissions for Jio Join app .. it still is not working properly. whenever i call somebody through the app it once or twice bell rings on other person's phone and after that my phone loses the data network (it doesn't loses the network signal, only the data connectivity) mostly 95% of the time .... i dont know if its the compatibility issue with nougat or something else because a friend of mine is having marshmallow running Oneplus 2 .. and he is not facing this issue.
please share the experience of using Jio Join app... whether u r also facing the same issue or not ?

Had a conversation with Google Support regarding VoLTE
yesterday i first called huawei support regarding the VoLTE no available on Nexus 6P. Although i was expecting a pathetic reply from them, and they didn't disappoint. First he told me that its the network provider (Jio) which doesn't provides this feature. Then when i went into details with him he finally said that VoLTE is not provided by manufacturer (Huawei).
Finally i called Google Support. Representative was extremely good in responding to every query that i asked him. He said -
1. Nexus 6P doesn't Support VoLTE right now.
2. Our technical team is looking into this matter as more and more queries are coming regarding this.
3. Nexus 6P is hardware capable to support VoLTE.
4. In Future Google might release an OTA to enable this update. (Please keep in mind its not a 100% surety)
5. If OTA happens
Google will be updating handsets purchased directly from Google Store and for all the other handsets google will be providing huawei the OTA to update those devices
so as per that conversation, its google who has to enable the VoLTE support on Nexus 6P.
So my advice would be to call Google Support and put as many queries as we can .. so that they feel the need to enable this feature.

Verizon Login App

I am trying to get Wifi Calling activated on my rooted/unlocked bootloader Verizon S5. I have read that it is necessary to have the Verizon Login App active in order to get Wifi Calling to work. I think I deleted it with no backup and I'm wondering where I would be able to find an apk of the app to reinstall it.
Also, I was able to use a recent post on XDA to allow HD Video calling, but the recipient can see me, but I cannot see the other caller. It just says something like "Generating Image." Could this just be because I'm in a low signal area?
Not sure if this will help...Advanced Calling FIX (HD Calling, Video Calling, and Wi-Fi Calling)

Verizon WiFi phone call.

Anyone get this to work on Verizon? As soon as I insert Verizon sim, WiFi calling option goes away in settings, and phone app wants me to enable wifi calling while trying to make a call.
No luck here. Have you called Verizon? I did but my signal is too weak. This is probably going to be a deal breaker for me.
I'm just making do with GV for WiFi calls for now.
On the phone with Verizon and he is telling me that the Essential Phone requires Verizon's firmware in order to use any Advanced Calling features such as wifi calling...

You've stated this before, can you explain? From what I've read, wifi calling is not a feature of Google Voice. You can make calls with GV, but it is still using the carrier's signal and not wifi.

Yes, they said "We can't guaranty all services will work or not work on non-Verizon branded phones".
If you remove the sim and restart the phone, the WiFi calling option appears again in settings. Add the sim and it's gone. I guess the software has to let the sim dictate what options the carrier wishes to be enabled on each phone. That is what "verified" means?

I've managed to get VoLTE / advanced calling working for me... Took a few sim card activations but it eventually worked. As far as wifi calling, I can't seem to find the option or setting to enable it... Hopefully it'll be fixed once oreo is outta beta
You need the Verizon firmware to enable wifi calling and unless Verizon start selling this phone the firmware won't be available.

how did you pull that off exactly? whenever i enable it when i try to make a call i get service error
new sim, and took off hd calling of my account and then re-added it back to my account and rebooted. i also went into the 4363 testing menu and made sure volte was turned on. as well as the enhanced 4glte option was switched on.
maybe because Verizon sell the pixel and iPhone, they provide google and apple with the necessary files.
It sucks, I really wish WiFi calling would work. Maybe eventually it will, I remember when VoLTE was proprietary and now almost all phones support it.

How can you tell if it's working? I have the options in my menu but since my signal is good it never switches.....
I went to hell and back trying to get OB 8.1 to work with my Verizon sim OB3 and down work without issue.
Anyway I wound up getting a new sim card from Verizon then went back to OB3 did the OTA and when it booted back up I had to do the prl update *228 once I finished the steps I noticed I had wifi calling enabled in all my menus it didn't ask for an e911 address on my phone but it did on my wear24 watch which is synced to my phone and number. the watch can do wifi calling and texting as well. Hell of a deal for under 70 bucks. Not sure if that triggered something on the phone?

Video calling on U firmware

I upgraded to a Note8 recently and found out somebody managed to enable video calling using IMS settings. It works perfectly without even a reboot.
Has anybody tried this with the s7e on U fw?
I really don't want to buy my gf a new phone nor flash T-Mobile's jank to it.
Thanks!
I tried it. Got to show the video call icon by changing the ims settings. I did change more settings compared with the note 8 before I got to show the icon. Still a no go though. Had a message, video service temporarily not available, when I tried. Not sure what else I can do. Might need to use CP from tmobile for it to work.
