Intermittent no in-call sound on incoming calls - Moto G4 Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I have a bone stock Moto G4 running Marshmallow and have been experiencing an intermittent problem when receiving calls, where neither I nor the caller can be heard. It's as if both of us have our mute buttons on, or as if neither of our speakers is working. The phone rings audibly and the call is logged correctly when I answer it, so evidently the call is "going through". All other sounds play normally; only in-call sound is affected.
When this happens, if I immediately call the person who called me, the call goes through and we can each hear each other fine; i.e., the problem only occurs intermittently on inbound calls.
If I reboot the phone, the problem goes away but eventually comes back.
I've seen numerous reports of "no sound during calls" posted here and elsewhere but most of the posts I've seen are pretty old, and don't seem to apply to my phone.
I posted this question over on the Lenovo site but I haven't gotten any responses so I thought I might also check with the experts here.
Thank you for any help.

Inbound Intermittent Call Ring
Hi,
I have a Zenfone 3 Max ZC520TL, with Android Nougat and the latest firmware (14.14.1808.121) running on T-Mobile network...
For the longest time I've had an issue with incoming calls most of the time going directly to voicemail, no matter how many bars I have...
I've been researching this for sometime now and most blogs (after they recommend advice on fixing the issue), want you as a final resort to do a backup and perform a Factory Reset...which people say didn't work, so that's wasted time...
I have an extremely easy fix for this which will take you about 30 seconds...
All you have to do is change your 'Preferred network type' from 4G to 2G...you can do this by going to: Settings/More/Cellular networks/Preferred network type...tap Preferred network type and choose 2G...that's it!!! Your phone will now ring every time there's an incoming call unless the number is blocked...
By choosing 2G, you may lessen the internet download, upload, movie and video watching speed and image download speed in texts but increase the signal range...I personally am willing to give up image in text speed to receive incoming calls with no issues...
If you want to download or upload or watch movies and videos from the internet or download images in texts instantly, just change the 2G setting back to 4G temporarily...
I hope this post helps and saves others from spending hours looking for a fix for this issue.
Cheers,
Vinny

[Q] Issue receiving incoming calls

I've the S4 for a little over a week, but it's been a rather busy week so I haven't given it my full attention as yet. I really like it so far, I haven't gotten all the bells and whistles to work and I'm testing battery life with them disabled vs enabled etc. But I'm not really doing much else with it yet.
The only actual issue I'm having is receiving phone calls. When someone calls me, it takes a couple rings on their end before my phone starts ringing (I've encountered this with Sprint before though) but then when I try to answer the call, I don't get the person on the other end. I get a recorded message telling me I've got an incoming call from (name of caller in my contacts list) and if I want to accept to press 1 now. The message takes so long to get to that point that by the time it tells me to press 1 to accept the call, the call goes into voicemail.
I don't receive a lot of phone calls, but I would like to be able to actually answer them when I do. As of now when someone does call me I have to call them back.
This message plays AFTER I've 'accepted' the call on the screen and it plays through the handset not the speakers. I have Google voice set up for my voicemail.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Sounds like you have google voice setup or you used to. You will have to go to the site on your pc to disable it.

I thought Google Voice had something to do with it but I didn't think of checking the settings via PC.
For anyone else with the same issue: Google.com/voice>settings>calls> call screening off.

N9005 no voice when receiving sip calls on wifi

As the title says, when somebody calls me on one of my sip numbers and I'm on wifi I need to put the phone on speaker a number of times before I can start hearing anything from the call. After that it works but it might lose audio again at some later point and cycling the speaker setting brings it back.
I haven't noticed this before 4.4.2 and I can't reproduce it while on 3G. Any ideas?
Actually phone also directly drops the call or even reboots from time to time while doing this. Cool software, bro.
As a late update - I followed Samsung support's advice and reset the phone to factory defaults (from recovery) - then only installed a minimal set of programs and modified a minimal set of options. Receiving sip calls is still buggy or causing the phone to reboot.

Missed text/call audio reminder

I want an ap that will continually send out an audio signal when I have missed a text or call. I have tried five different aps, and they all work for the first day or two-then no more signal.
I am thinking it must be some kind of setting on the phone that is causing this. Help, please!

No incoming and outgoing sound only at first outgoing phonecall

Hello everybody
I'm new here and I like to discuss something very weird.
Sinds 3 months I'm the owner of my Xiaomi mi A1 on android one. No problems at all and except of the camera I like the phone very much.
Sinds a week of three some weird symptom has started.
Sometimes when I am calling someone there is no sound incoming and outgoing. The person on the other side can't hear me and I don't hear the other person. There is also no connections or dialing sound when starting the phone call. I can see on my display that the other person accept my call because the timer is starting to count. The strangest thing is that this is only the first time I make a call; usually in the morning. When I quit the call en call again there is no problem and the audio is working as it should be. Also incoming calls is no problem and works well.
I tried everything I found on internet, reset my device several times . Also removed the SD card etc. Reset all settings etc.
I don't know what what to do.
I also have an Samsung gear S3 frontier with Bluetooth communication and also reset this watch several times without success. When I disconnect the watch the problem stays.
Hopefully anyone can help me.

I'm using S3 Frontier with OnePlus 3 and facing similar issue from the day one. 30% of calls (whether It's incoming or outgoing) are without sound and the I had to make the calls again. Waste of money. Then i stopped using Phone Audio for the watch and using for notifications only.

LG V20 h918 call problems

I've been having this problem since pretty much forever but I've finally decided to ask for advice here. My call quality is rather terrible in the sense that frequently the voice of the person calling me will drop out or get somewhat distorted while they hear me just fine. This is really annoying as it just kills the flow of the conversation. I do not use VoLTE or wifi calling and have both of these options disabled. It's a used phone which was sim unlocked via the T-Mobile unlocker app and connects just fine to my Belgian operator. Likewise the phone indicates a good signal reception. Issues with the speaker are ruled out as the issue remains when calling through headphones.
A possible relevant symptom is that when I try to call someone it takes an unusual long time before the phone starts dialing (the sound effect). When I call with my LG G4 it starts dialing pretty much instantly. I made a program in Tasker that forces the phone to use 2g/3g while the mobile internet is off (I only turn it on when I need it) and in this case when I try to call it does start dialing immediately. However the issues regarding the call quality persist.
The phone came to me with Android Nougat installed. I have a faint memory that while on Nougat the calls were somewhat fine but after the update to Oreo it started having issues. So far I've tried re-flashing my modem partition with the modem partition from Nougat 10p but to no avail. I'm thinking about flashing back to Nougat though before I go through the trouble I wanted to see if anyone else has better ideas or possible helpful information.
