I got a SM-G935A (rooted) that seems to be crashing about every 4 days and gets stuck in a boot loop
and only a factory reset will recover it. Can anyone advise what I can do? I wanted to flash a different
ROM since the AT&T is full of bloatware and I have no 5.8Ghz Wifi either.
Let me guess, when booting you get a short vibrate then two fast ones?

Yes when it boots and gets to the AT&T logo it vibrates and will not continue
Ive had the same problem...... was told have to watch what system apps you freeze with titanium backup, and if att sends new security patch and detects phone is "custom" knox will lock it up......... im not sure if those are the reasons but after alot of digging around thats what i found.

Thanks for your input. I wanted to replace the AT&T ROM with something better and was looking for suggestions. The
other problem is that AT&T has disabled the 5.8Ghz Wifi. What would be the best alternative to replace the AT&T
Bloatware ROM with? Is the T Mobile ROM a better alternative?
Flash the U Software. I have used the AT&T, TMobile and the U firmware. The U firmware is by far the smoothest. You loose VOLTE, but the rest of the phone runs so much better its worth it.

Thank you for your suggestion. What is the "U" software and where do I find it? Can I get updates with this software? Will this eliminate the crashes and is it faster since the AT&T firmware is very sluggish and slow?

Does the "U" firmware work with the Galaxy S7 Edge? and how easy is the install process? any risk of bricking the phone?

So, I was going to use Cf-Auroroot like I have for every other Samsung device I've got but apparently there's an issue with it for the N915G.
What I did was put the latest super su file (i used v2.40) on my external SD card and then in Odin flash the latest TWRP recovery from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/general/easy-steps-stock-odin-n915tuvu1anjl-sm-t2943993 (you can also use the sd card fix from here too, flash in TWRP, just install supersu, then add another flash file and install the sd card fix).
Go to recovery mode and flash super su.
I found it had an error flashing cache but a factory reset fixed this so best done BEFORE setting everything up.
Let phone reset, set it up and you now have root access with a clean install of stock rom.
Happy days.
This worked fine for me and left out the step of flashing CF-Autoroot which wasn't needed.
You will still trip Knox.
I don't know if this will work flawlessly for you or for all models, especially if the bootloader is locked, but theoretically it should.
Good luck guys, happy flashing.
And HAPPY NEW YEAR...

If it didn't I don't know why.

You should not have many issues with 5.0.1. What you need to do after flashing the 5.0.1...you need to reset to factory setting. Im sure by now you know when upgrading..you still keep data from the kitkat. This may cause conflict and issues. At the moment the only issue i had is sometime i get that contact closed notifications. I have google this issue...seem like it happen to other phones to with early 5.0.1. For me im ok...cause it only happen very rarely...i hope a much later lollipop will fix this issues.

Got my SM-915G, and got it rooted and TWRP installed following you method. It is working with AT&T and I am getting LTE data speeds, but it is struggling on voice network. hardly any bars are visible on the signal strength icon.

Possibly flashing the modem and non-HLOS.bin for AT&T.
I can't really say as I live in Oz and have no problems with voice calls...
I do find that my bars don't tend to go over 3 or more than halfway but that could be due to where I live and the crappy coverage we get here... No problem with voice calls though...
I am not sure if I can install SM-N915A modem on 915G.
Can someone confirm if that is possible, if so, what version?
tell me one thing is xposed framework and freedom app now working on note edge 915G lollipop
Nope. Better stick with Kitkat if you intend to use Freedom and Xposed.

Oh well, no way around it then. Warranty is for the timid anyway lol. Gotta pay to play.
So as you people probably know, the boot animation that the sprint Galaxy s7 phones have looks absolutely terrible, it even comes with an annoying noise, yay! So I remember reading that if you flash official Samsung firmware via Odin it doesn't void your warranty and doesn't trip Knox, so would it be possible to flash the original boot logo? Any help is appreciated,
Thanks!
Edit: If I follow this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1580642, and use the boot animation found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/themes-apps/galaxy-s7-boot-animation-t3324518, could I change it?
What is the boot animation, just cerious. On the LG G4 it talks about LTE Plus. Same as yours? I also found if you disable system sounds, there will be no boot animation sound.
My sprint s7 actually didn't come with a boot img besides Samsung logo. Nor any bloat ware.

To follow the process you linked, you need to have a rooted phone. There is currently no way to root the Sprint S7. There may never be a way to root it. So no, that won't work.
But how often do you reboot your phone? I may reboot mine once a month, so I don't really worry about the splash screen or noise.
I just picked up an S7 to replace my s5. So far really liking the improvement. I just can't justify spending $800+ for a phone anymore to get an s9. Anyways. All my other Galaxies were rooted. My s5 was and I changed the boot animation.
From reading on here though it looks like this is a whole other beast where everything is locked down. My sprint samsung galaxy s7 has the following information:
Software Version: G930PVPS8CRK1
Hardware Version: REV0.6
So there is no way to change that annoying sprint boot up screen that shows the blinding white LTE?
Thanks and sorry I'm bumping an old thread. Figured there probably wouldn't be too much activity on an s7...lol

You can install G930U (Unbranded firmware) (CSC: XAA) again on The Sprint Galaxy S7. Samsung finally update the bootloader to V8.
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7/SM-G930U/XAA/download/G930UUEU8CRJ2/242329/
On Sprint variant (g930p) you can dial *#*#brand#*#* ( *#*#27463#*#*) and it's going to debrand your phone... It will uninstall almost every Sprint app and will set Samsung default bootscreen.
Can't remember the exact thing if is double "*#" or single so try both ways.
Also if you're on bootloader 6 to 8, now it's possible to flash G930U firmware to get the unbranded firmware. (This will upgrade your bootloader to version 8 and will wipe your phone).
Dumb question before I do the above... If I debrand the phone will I then not be able to use the phone on Sprint or will Sprint no longer communicate with my phone? IE: I have no service or data? I don't plan on changing carriers from Sprint, just want to make sure I don't do something that I then can no longer use the phone...
Thanks,
-Nigel

Everything will be fine... Debrand is just to delete the customized thing of the phone... Like bootlogos, service provider apps, sometimes it deleted the ringtone and wallpapers from the company... It left the phone like it was an international variant.

You can't downgrade from aph1 the latest update updated the bootloader. But you can still have data, messaging, etc with the aph1 update just takes a bit of tinkering.

LOL I didn't notice how much Adaware did until I didn't have it.
There are a few things more im missing but 930u is a huge step in the right direction. I need to do more research I guess been years since I've had to root a device I almost took this thing back an went back to my s5 after the first day.
I know about Sam Mobile but it's links are super slow unless you pay, I was trying to find a decent free link.
I don't even need a custom rom I'm stoked on this one as is, I'd be happy with this an xsposed modules.

Well I had a hard time getting the LTE and messaging to work with root. 930u when I rooted I could not change my apns I couldn't add new ones either. I tried using ##data# to go in and fix my apns that way but I needed my msl which sprint refused to give me. On sprint firmware tho all u have to do is go to build prop and change ro.cdma.default_alpha it says chameleon after the root process change it to Sprint and ro.cdma.default_numeric from 310000 to 310120 and restart ur phone.

All Samsung's have multiple ways of backing up and restoring. All you have to do is back up using Samsung cloud and when you start your phone it will ask you if you want to restore your phone and then everything will automatically come back to your phone. Factory reset fixes boot loop and other issues

Great, I also found my signal to be better as far as staying connected is concerned. At one point my data kept going out on the atnt firmware and I had to keep restarting the phone or mess with the Wi-Fi calling. I haven't had any problems since I flashed this and plus 8 is faster than 7 so I'm excited to not have to mess with this phone anymore and just leave it up to ota updates.

If there was root before (there is), then I'm pretty sure it will soon be available for Oreo too. I don't see why there wouldn't be unless those individuals who created or found the engineering kernel for MM AND N, aren't around to help out again. If not, back to 6.0 it goes.
HI, Now I'm on a custom rom with Nougat. Sim's carrier is Orange(UE). If I flash this Official Oreo version the phone will become Locked, right? Any idea how to unlock it, no charges? Thanks!
Thanks for the upload. I was trying to see if SamMobile had this up yet but they did not have it up when I checked. I have the MetroPCS variant and it did have 8.0 available on SamMobile already. I am switching from MetroPCS to T-Mobile so this will be perfect to get my phone 100% ready.

Well, it still should be under the warranty, you should be able to get it replaced by AT&T. If you don't want to get a swap, then perhaps you can consider cross flashing it with the ULM firmware?
