Hi all,
i bought a I9505 16 GB in germany and after some hours of testing i found an
issue with the screen color. It seems that the black color (OLED pixel should
set to off) aren't set to off. The color looks like black with 5 % red brown and you
can see it in dark ambience with large black area (e.g. ScreenTester )
I changed the device to another one and saw the same problem. But this time i get
an OTA update. After the update (the last for germany i think MDM ) the problem
is gone. Ok now i know that the problem isn't a not fixable hardware problem or
only a software problem...
i startet some test...(i didn't change modem and csc)
1) flashed a costum recovery -> black isn't black in CWM and Touch
1.1) created a backup from stock rom
2) flashed CM 10.1 (build from 19.5) -> black isn't black
3) restore backup from stock rom -> black is black
4) flashed a the omega rom 3.0 -> black isn't black
4.1) flashed the adam kernel 1.2 (with update 1 from samsung) -> black is black
-> The fix/cause for my problem is placed in the kernel.
Maybe the kernel developers can check what are the differencies between
the kernels and update the kernel sources from modded stock Kernels, CM,
CWM and so on...
big thx
its a known bug and you have to update your firmware to the latest version to fix this. i had this bug earlier and after an OTA update its fixed, it never showed up even with custom kernels(9500), not sure whether the kernel sources for 9505 has the fix included...

mhm, so it seems that many kernels sources which are used in cwm, touch recovery and CM doesn't include the fix.
Is the fix delivered by samsungs update 1? because the adam kernel which use this update doesn't have the bug.
thx.

I had this issue back in 2011 with my Nokia C7. It used to go purple on greys while dimming. Never got the issue solved. I doubt we will ever get a solution. This is just a characteristic of the AMOLED.

Not sure about that - but I wouldn't take notice of the blotches/lines you can see in dark room low brightness. And from what I gather it's gotten much less worse on S4
i have this same issues is it normal?

Hello,
It seems i have a problem with my G2 after updating Kitkat. First i want to clarify by updating Kitkat means that after i updated my Kitkat from official updates from LG Update Apps. I worried people misunderstood it for im upgrading from Jelly Bean to Kitkat. Not that, im already using Kitkat from maybe around Feb and have no problem at all. And 2 days ago [17 May 2014, in South East Asia] there is some update for the Kitkat, and I installed it, the description for the update is just "Optimization for Apps")
My problem is exactly the same with this Youtube video down here, this video describe "screen flickering" but actually its not flickering (because there is no problem with the brightness), but the screen randomly move vertically, like there is an earthquake inside of that phone
Oops because im a new member (yes, I jin this forum because of this problem of mine :'( ) it seems I cant post url from outside.
Please search the video on youtube titled "Lg g2 screen flicker" by Chris Eastoe
So, its happen yesterday for the first time, and i realize if its start to happen what i have to do is turn of the screen for a while (either turn of the phone or ether lock it) and then after i turn the screen on again the jitters stop... for a while... eventually the jitter will start to happen again and i just have to turn off the screen, wait, and turn it on again.
Do anybody have any Idea what happen to my phone? my LG G2 is not rooted, and i use stock launcher. i probably install LINE DECO for the icon customization (even though I already install it like 1 month ago and have no problem until recently), but i already uninstalled that this morning, and its still happening
Thank you
cheers :fingers-crossed:
Still no response yet? Up up
I live in SEA also but can't help you with your problem because my phone has had issues with the touchscreen starting a couple of months after I purchased it. I also received the update a couple of days ago and I was hoping that it would finally resolve my touchscreen issues but no such luck. Mine also jitters, freezes, and experiences ghost touches on a random basis although they all stop when I turn off the screen and turn it back on. Touchscreen issues are common with the G2, I don't know what to tell you. I've sent mine back twice but it still does the same thing.

It seems my problem is not as bad as yours... My touchscreen still works properly, and even the screen is jittering like crazy mt LG G2 still works smoothly. The Only problem is the display on screen.
I try to take a snapshot of my homescreen when my screen jittering like crazy and send it to my friend. But on my friend phone the homescreen snapshot i took is normal.
Can somebody help, please
Root it with ioroot, recovery with autorec, and install furnace (jdi version if white lines) - or exchange it ?

Been on 4.4.2 for a few days, today my stock Bell (D803) started jittering and garbled up so bad it looked like the screen was damaged. It was a bit warm from being plugged in so i shut it down. Now it's cooled off and video jitters only slightly. I also tried re-calibrating motion sensor but seems to still have a slight jitter. (note: it's not the brightness flicker problem, the segments of the video on the screen literally shakes!)
Was thinking phone was damaged some how but now i see it's not the only one with the problem since last update.
Gee, good thing we own $700 smartphones!
I don't usually root my phones until the warranty is up on them so it's still Bell stock.

Well, thanks for the heads up edgarpoe, Factory Wipe Reset also one of my option, but considering the effort it takes to recovery all the data, the backup, and etc. and find the problem is still there would have waste a lot of time...

Nope not any better, infact it's worse. When it sits screen is ok when you wake it, but after about 5 min it starts jittering randomly. The longer screen is on the worse it gets until it shows sections of video that looks like old analog tv static. Turn screen off for a while and it's cleared up again for a few minutes.
Maybe something is overheating? Do you have a case on your phone? Mine has OtterBox case.
I even tried "playing" with thermal setting in 3845#*803# but did't solve anything :silly:
Don't know, maybe it's time to bring it in...
Ok I think it got scared that I was sending back for warranty because now it's running fine.

I've factory wiped phone 3 times, still had problem. Was almost wondering if after the update, the battery stats were out, if low voltage would cause it. But then phone would have died out of nowhere so don't think that's it. Last night I also recalibrated motion sensor but still had jitters.
Must have been just a glitch in the update.
Bell tech told me 4.4.3 is on its way anyways.
It was acting up this morning at 10, then it sat sleeping unplugged for a few hours (screen off) now it seems problem disappeared.

BTW, Is your phone still OK? Ive been running mine this morning and got 2-3 hour up until now, jitter free... i will update if the jitters come back...

Maybe some apps matchs with your apps?
My phone been steady now for around 6hrs I think. Not sure why yet. Wasn't app related that I know of because one off the reset trials I opted to not install any apps at all and still had jitters.
I've been working the modes, touch screen, and playback pretty good tonight and no more glitches. Was last plugged in 7 hrs ago to 100% and it's now at about 50%
Just noticed power save was off so now it's active.
With system, lg bloatware, and downloaded apps they total 197apps.

Huh? Wha? That's a fix for screen flickering?
Op, search youtube for S7 Edge screen flickering and be amazed! Brand new S7s were doing that.
If you slide the brightness to max, it should stop. Or if bright light hits the dimming sensor, it stops.

Most likely an issue with the AMOLED PWM implementation/controller, the flicker free Kernel doesn't use PWM to control Brightness.
So this might be an suitable workaround for users without warranty or possibility of repair.

As far as I am aware, there's no ghost screen burn. There's ghost touch, and screen burn,. You can almost correct the former with a change in RGB values. The latter can be reduced, but with a "Turbocharger", it will most definitely show up. Screen burns are present in one type of screen used in the G4 Plus, and ghost touches in the other.

It's a known hardware issue with a certain type of screen display. It will be there with pretty much any ROM. If it happens during charging, then you can minimize it by using an earthed charger, or by not using the phone at all (it charges pretty quickly, so it doesn't matter if you don't use it for that sacred time).
I suffered ghost touch on RR-MM & RR-N.
I was having the same problems. There was a burn screen problem. But I installed the Aospk extended rom v4.4 rom. I have no problem now thanks

Sorry if I sound ridiculous, BUT WRONGGG! My Moto G4 Plus does the Ghost touch when IM NOT charging as well. The only solution I found, is keep brightness below half, and never turn on Adaptive brightness.
I have the same problem, the only thing that stopped it was deactivating adaptive brightness and keeping brightness low.
But if I had guarantee I would probably send it to costumers care
Same problem, I just always keep my brightness at 1/4 of the bar and it stops

and about customer care, believe me, my brother has a terrible experience with those guys...they won't even solve the issue but they create new...My brother had to give mobile to private care due to this even the mobile was in warranty.
Interestingly, for me,the ROM also played a role(I might be wrong). In stock and 1 particular custom rom, I got freq ghost touches while charging. But, in another rom, I didn't get the problem even once(even when charging and using).
Btw, in all the ROMs, I kept the brightness the same.

Yup i think you are right. I hardly. Experience ghost touch in lineage os v14.1. But in resurrection remix i am not able to use my phone while charging. In r.r. battery too draining fastly at the rate of 1%/ min.
Hi guys, I visited service center before few hours today for the same issue and my experience with them was terrible. They said my warranty is void as body around screen is having (very small) dents (due to wear and tear). Does outer shell with small scars voids your warranty? So far I have been using phone with launchers other than stock one ( I prefer newly ported pixel 2 launcher, though I was using ported moto G5 launcher before) with adaptive brightness on and severity of this issue was negligible (though you'll feel issue while charging). As they have declined my warranty I am going to unlock boot loader. Fun Time.

Hi there, I faced same experience as your brother had faced. Their behavior clearly states these people don't want to correct there mistakes. As it is problem with panel we can't do much about it. Though try this, if it helps you a little. I am using rootless pixel 2 launcher by paphonb, works like charm (Changing default launcher helped me to some extent and I don't get frequent ghost touches even while charging).

adaptive brightness on, set brightness level to half. I am facing this issue only while phone is charging otherwise it runs smooth.

First of all I have a very good experience with service centres. I just told him that my screen is having traces of previous screen. He changed my LCD panel with chrome in just 15 min.. Bro try to visit a different service centre of different area. If your phone is still in warranty and they are claiming that your warranty is void then file complain on customer care of Motorola and file a complain too the consumer forum too.
A person in my area filled a report in consumer forum just because he get only 4 tablets instead of 6 . the company gave him 1000 rupees as punishment.
I have the same problem. But I get it only when I charge with my turbo charger. I just dont touch my phone when it is charging.

Does anyone get something like this?
I have that charging ghost touch problem and that brightness problem too but furthermore it happens when I'm flashing files in recovery too! It's crazy can't control TWRP like that, doing anything doesn't stop that ghost touch in recovery, and literally anything gets pressed in settings, config etc screen, I hardly flashed rom and did reboot, any ideas on this?
I installed a special rom and I installed[KERNEL][Oct 24][3.10.107] Vegito 6.08/7.04 (Moto G4/G4 Plus). I installed a battery screen programa with a lock screen program, and now 99% of the ghost screen problem has disappeared. I use 100% at light brightness. respects.

Guys if any methods don't work you can switch off the mobile and charge it fully, then you won't face this issue (I was facing this issue even mobile wasn't connected to charger)
I tried it like a week and it worked Great.
Thank you all who replied.
