Hello,
It seems i have a problem with my G2 after updating Kitkat. First i want to clarify by updating Kitkat means that after i updated my Kitkat from official updates from LG Update Apps. I worried people misunderstood it for im upgrading from Jelly Bean to Kitkat. Not that, im already using Kitkat from maybe around Feb and have no problem at all. And 2 days ago [17 May 2014, in South East Asia] there is some update for the Kitkat, and I installed it, the description for the update is just "Optimization for Apps")
My problem is exactly the same with this Youtube video down here, this video describe "screen flickering" but actually its not flickering (because there is no problem with the brightness), but the screen randomly move vertically, like there is an earthquake inside of that phone
Oops because im a new member (yes, I jin this forum because of this problem of mine :'( ) it seems I cant post url from outside.
Please search the video on youtube titled "Lg g2 screen flicker" by Chris Eastoe
So, its happen yesterday for the first time, and i realize if its start to happen what i have to do is turn of the screen for a while (either turn of the phone or ether lock it) and then after i turn the screen on again the jitters stop... for a while... eventually the jitter will start to happen again and i just have to turn off the screen, wait, and turn it on again.
Do anybody have any Idea what happen to my phone? my LG G2 is not rooted, and i use stock launcher. i probably install LINE DECO for the icon customization (even though I already install it like 1 month ago and have no problem until recently), but i already uninstalled that this morning, and its still happening
Thank you
cheers :fingers-crossed:
Still no response yet? Up up
I live in SEA also but can't help you with your problem because my phone has had issues with the touchscreen starting a couple of months after I purchased it. I also received the update a couple of days ago and I was hoping that it would finally resolve my touchscreen issues but no such luck. Mine also jitters, freezes, and experiences ghost touches on a random basis although they all stop when I turn off the screen and turn it back on. Touchscreen issues are common with the G2, I don't know what to tell you. I've sent mine back twice but it still does the same thing.

It seems my problem is not as bad as yours... My touchscreen still works properly, and even the screen is jittering like crazy mt LG G2 still works smoothly. The Only problem is the display on screen.
I try to take a snapshot of my homescreen when my screen jittering like crazy and send it to my friend. But on my friend phone the homescreen snapshot i took is normal.
Can somebody help, please
Root it with ioroot, recovery with autorec, and install furnace (jdi version if white lines) - or exchange it ?

Been on 4.4.2 for a few days, today my stock Bell (D803) started jittering and garbled up so bad it looked like the screen was damaged. It was a bit warm from being plugged in so i shut it down. Now it's cooled off and video jitters only slightly. I also tried re-calibrating motion sensor but seems to still have a slight jitter. (note: it's not the brightness flicker problem, the segments of the video on the screen literally shakes!)
Was thinking phone was damaged some how but now i see it's not the only one with the problem since last update.
Gee, good thing we own $700 smartphones!
I don't usually root my phones until the warranty is up on them so it's still Bell stock.

Well, thanks for the heads up edgarpoe, Factory Wipe Reset also one of my option, but considering the effort it takes to recovery all the data, the backup, and etc. and find the problem is still there would have waste a lot of time...
I tried to install different launchers (Go Launcher, Nova Launcher) and none of them solve my problem... Heeeelelllpp!
Maybe it's a driver problem with latest update... hmmm

Nope not any better, infact it's worse. When it sits screen is ok when you wake it, but after about 5 min it starts jittering randomly. The longer screen is on the worse it gets until it shows sections of video that looks like old analog tv static. Turn screen off for a while and it's cleared up again for a few minutes.
Maybe something is overheating? Do you have a case on your phone? Mine has OtterBox case.
I even tried "playing" with thermal setting in 3845#*803# but did't solve anything :silly:
Don't know, maybe it's time to bring it in...
Ok I think it got scared that I was sending back for warranty because now it's running fine.

I've factory wiped phone 3 times, still had problem. Was almost wondering if after the update, the battery stats were out, if low voltage would cause it. But then phone would have died out of nowhere so don't think that's it. Last night I also recalibrated motion sensor but still had jitters.
Must have been just a glitch in the update.
Bell tech told me 4.4.3 is on its way anyways.
It was acting up this morning at 10, then it sat sleeping unplugged for a few hours (screen off) now it seems problem disappeared.

Yep, i know the 4.4.3 its on the way, did the Bell Thec tell you when? it'll be frustating to wait around 3 weeks or a month with the phone condition like this...
BTW, Is your phone still OK? Ive been running mine this morning and got 2-3 hour up until now, jitter free... i will update if the jitters come back...

Or maybe on of the apps is not compatible with the 4.4.2 Update. This morning this are my apps that have an update and maybe it solved the problem

Maybe some apps matchs with your apps?
My phone been steady now for around 6hrs I think. Not sure why yet. Wasn't app related that I know of because one off the reset trials I opted to not install any apps at all and still had jitters.
I've been working the modes, touch screen, and playback pretty good tonight and no more glitches. Was last plugged in 7 hrs ago to 100% and it's now at about 50%
Just noticed power save was off so now it's active.
With system, lg bloatware, and downloaded apps they total 197apps.

Nope, im using unlocked phone, not bound to any provider.
I have some question, when you say you wipe your phone, is your phone OS go back to the 4.3 (Jelly Bean)? or maintain the latest KitKat?

I am using a replacement g2 that I got from tmo (originally bought a brand new g2 but it came with 2.3.3 so I asked them for an exchange and got this one with froyo). I have an issue with videos not playing properly on the youtube app and on m.youtube.com. When I open the vid, the sound works fine but the screen is just black. Sometimes, the video starts with a picture but doesn't go anywhere from there. If I try to skip to a certain time frame, sometimes it switches to a different picture and gets stuck again or just goes black.
Has anyone else had this issue? I never had this happen on my original g2 with gingerbread. Could it be a pre loaded app that's interfering with it?

hey,
I've noticed some lines showing up on my screen... they only show once every 10/15 min and run across the vritical when in landscape mode. typically only one or two pixels thick and lasts only a moment.
Like every one my tablet takes a tumble now and again, but if it was hardware then my is it so intermittent?
any ideas?
I think this has happened to mine too but it flashes so fast that I don't know if it's happening or I'm seeing things. It's very rare though for me.

I get it every now and again, seems to happen when the screen has been on for a long period.
Not sure what is causing it, I tried to Google it but couldn't find anything.
It seems to be software guys, as before the 4.1.2 update I was getting these lines around 2x as often. Hopefully the next ota knocks them out for good.
I think it is WiFi reception strength related. In my case, they appear only when WiFi signal is weak. They have been there since the beginning. But now, not only vertical, some times horizontal lines appear as well. Horizontal lines didn't exist before 4.1.2 update. Same issue have I with my TF700. So, I assume it's both hardware/software related.

I never had this with stock rom but have had it with some custom roms, I had it with "slimbean 2.7" but since updating to 2.8 it has gone. So, it points to software.
Maybe megamoz is onto something too.
I don't think it is a faulty screen. Something else is going on.
I am on rooted stock, had them both before and after rooting.
Don't think it is related to the WIFI, not for me anyway, as I get it when browsing in the living room and I sit right next to my router so I get full signal.

that would sound like a prime candidate for me. I have been stuck in hospital for 10 days, and the tab has been on for 15+ hours at a time some days... although the wifi angle is interesting too.

thanks everyone for you input
Yeah I am also getting them and they seem to happen more when there is alot of white background on my screen or maybe that's when I notice them more lol but as far as problems go that's all my NEXUS7 has so hopefully it is software and can be fixed with a good old update COME ONNN 4.2 GOD BLESS YOU GUYS

Has your phone frozen to the point you had to reboot?? How many times...
I have not purchased a total of 3 of these devices what is for me another was for my buddy and one was for my girlfriend. I personally have experienced one freeze that made me reboot the phone my girlfriend who I convince to switch from an iPhone was beginning to love the phone but now is angry because she has been experiencing freezes a total of three times she just got the phone under a week. I'm curious to know how many others have experienced a freeze since they got the phone.

Not one freeze. I preordered mine and it's been golden.
Nope none of the phones have been rooted. She claims that the music player just got stuck causing the whole phone freeze to the point where she couldn't answer call. She says it's happened to her more than once. When my phone froze it was just once and the whole screen froze and couldn't do anything had to reboot and then things have been fine since then.

My phone freezes at least once per day if not more. Not sure why...
Have not had 1 freeze myself, I don't count the one time I flashed a ROM and was stuck at loading screen so just went back to my restore
No freezes for me since April 26th, the day I received my preorder S4.
Not one lock up. Maybe she downloaded a bogus app?

Got the phone the morning of the release and I have been using it extensively since then and not a single freeze, crash, or reboot, or even the slightest amount of lag for that matter!
Sometimes crap like this happens with some random apps, if the problem consists maybe factory reset and reinstall each app one at a time to possibly identify the problem app.
That's just if it is an app though, I hope you can figure it out, this phone is unbelievable and the first of many many phones that has yet to have any sort of hiccups for me.

This is REALLY werid.. so I`ve had this phone since launch and it has been 100% amazing. I`ve had 16gb SD card for years that I have been using so I thought it's time to get a big upgrade, so I now have a 64gb class 10, which also has been solid for 4-5+ days. all of a sudden it froze on me. I rebooted many times and even switched out my old 16GB card and still would freeze (probably 1-2 minutes once its plugged in) I even did a factory reset just cause I didn't have too much on here and its still doing it . never had an issue like this before.

I've fortunately had the above microSD for about 6 months and it has been fine. Seems like ~10% of them are defective.
I still don't trust mine and make sure I always back up important folders to dropbox via the dropsync app just in case it decides to fail on me
Samsung infact, though I must admit this may be fault of the SD card, I found a rouge folder which was read only that was used to do a mounting script. once I deleted this windows I have not had an issue *yet* on my phone.. perhaps a false alarm!
No freezing on mine yet, but there has been a little lag.

That's definitely not supposed to happen. I had an S3 before this and this thing flies in comparison. I would try and figure out what you did that is causing your issue/perhaps in a defective or hardware issue and you should get a replacement.
And @op I think the issue your talking about was fixed with the update from MDC to MDL, I went straight to AOSP so I never had the smearing issue people were having, but I'm pretty sure they got rid of that from what I heard. Could be wrong though. Have you updated to MDL?

So i am about 3 weeks into my LG G2 i went custom AOSP from the very start. never even touched stock. I had weird graphical glitches which i chalked up to the AOSP stuff. I also had weird touch screen issues. like double clicks when i was dragging my finger. I also had odd shaking. like if i would drag from one screen to the next and stop in the middle instead of the panes being static they would shake way way worse then i have even seen on a phone. after about 3 weeks it got to much. i went back to stock to see how it felt. i have the same graphics issues. and i think some of the same touch screen issues. Although i didn't stay long enough to really test, but the graphical glitches are there. I can reproduce anytime i want on AOSP or Stock.
Did i get a lemon?
I can post a video if anyone wants to see any of the symptoms.

What are the graphics and touch screen issues? Care to elaborate? I've had 3 g2s in about 2 weeks and have experienced the high pitched buzzing in the ear piece when making a call and the touch screen issues when the phone is used playing video or games after 45 minutes or so the touchscreen becomes erratic and the scrolling goes crazy. There's a couple videos on here showing the touchscreen issues when writing in a quick memo (looks like an EKG). Maybe a little more info on your part will give us a better idea on your problems though.

Why did you wait 3 weeks before you came to the conclusion you have a lemon? And with all those issues why you even asking that stupid question?

Sounds like 4.4 issues with the graphical stuff. Its common because we don't have a proper port yet.
I suggest you ALWAYS use your phone stock for a week or else you have no idea if its software or hardware when things go wrong.
I suggest you flash back to stock and waiting it out and see for yourself.

The touch screen issues are present in all G2s, it's whether or not a user "triggers" it that's the question. I've seen it in both AOSP and stock. So your touch screen is "fine." The other issues are not normal though.
Sent from my LG-G2 using Tapatalk
To conclude if anything is normal or no...you need to have your phone completely stock...What player911 said is the right thing to do.
So i swung by verizon and sure enough the demo model showed no signs of what my phone is doing...
btw i did say i went back to stock to test it and both the graphic issues and the touch screen issues have been present. I cant always reproduce the touch issues but the graphic glitches is some sore of faulty unit. I will try to get the to replace it on monday.

This is not true! I have the Verizon variant and I have no issues with the tough screen at all...ever?? In fact, for whatever reason (maybe because Verizon is more closed/careful/anal/controlling) I read of more issues with other carriers than I do with Verizon. So either it's Verizon, or maybe Verizon's version got a better batch of hardware while the others got a bad batch??? :crying:
Return it and get a new one. If you were at the store, I would have already done this. Its under warranty regardless.
Touchscreen is very responsive on mine. Maybe too sensitive. Sometimes I don't even feel my fingers touching the screen.

Just got a 7.45MB quick update that had the standard update message - "Stability and security fixes are included. Thank you for choosing Samsung!"
I think it might have fixed the screen mirroring cannot be started bug - haven't had any trouble with it after the update, whereas before it would mostly fail.
Edit: Also noticing a recurrence of Chromecast notifications when casting. Those disappeared after the last update. I think. No crashes so that's great.
Just got the update too. I'm able to screen mirror to my roku3, whereas before the update I'd get hardware errors. Movies now stream, though it gets pixalated. Think that's cause miracast is still in beta for Roku's.
I haven't been able to try out the screen mirroring functions, but I'm glad to say that the homescreen seems more responsive after the update.

I played a full H264 movie on my Microsoft DisplayAdapter and it did not appear pixelated but the tablet was bit slow when the movie was playing- I've got a Roku3 as well, will try it out later.
Battery life seems to be somewhat better after the update - drain is less when using the screen and the tablet continues to be smooth.

Edit: Also noticing a recurrence of Chromecast notifications when casting. Those disappeared after the last update. I think. No crashes so that's great.

Yep, got the OTA yesterday, not sure what it changes. There was also an OTA for the Tab Pro 8.4, but that one was larger.
Updated last night from NI1. Small bug fix update I'm guessing. Hope it'll fix the sound glitch I've experienced a couple times.

What is your glitch? I get something that happens once in a while where the sound is very low resolution and sounds over modulated.
Seems to happen most after playing Clash of Clans.
I've had it do that once and I've had it sound "sped up" once.
And now there's a 4+ Mb CNK2 update. This is more update than I am used to from Samsung. Hopefully this continues and we get to 5.0.4 fairly sooner than usual
No idea what the update actually fixes.
No official samsung changelog?

Not that I ever saw one!
Yeah just got that update this morning and it didn't have a change log. Does anyone know what it changed or fixed.

Actually just searched and found this link with some info, looks like stability issue update and maybe something to get ready for lollipop.

Just got another update today. K2 at the end of the release and still 4.4.2.
Not much for details included in the description on the update notification, just software enhancement and bug fixes.
Happy to report that NK1 & NK2 are both still rootable with the cf-auto-root made for 4.4.2.
Also, I might be imagining it, but it seems like battery life is better on NK2, especially standby time. CPU is definitely entering deep sleep more often than on any other KitKat build for this device.

I can confirm better battery life. I can get 6-7 hours screen time after updates, before I get 4-5 hours of screen time
