Today i decided to try the newest B890 and i did but i noticed a few bugs so i wanted to go back on my previous rom via twrp ( i had a full backup ) . Problem i faced is that twrp no longer reads the data partition and it fails everytime i try to restore the rom so i tried to install sokkobans B574 and it seemed to work . All went fine untill the boot when its asking me about some password to unlock the storage because it is encrypted but i did no encryption . Is there any way i can get rid of it and use the phone again ? Twrp does not work because its not able to mount the data partition for some reason i dont know.

You need to wipe the data partition in TWRP in order to decrypt it.
wipe/format data/type YES
TWRP doesn't yet support samsungs encryption.
wiping data will obviously remove everything, so backup first.
immediately after wiping data, flash an updated supersu, or dm-verity disable
Flashing a rom over an encrypted data partition will do nothing to solve it unfortunately.
hi, i was using original lollipop firmware on n900l (did root it), now i tried using DU(7.1), RR and Validus but everytime i install any of these using philz i get the error " could not do normal boot" and simultaneously get " error mounting data".
then i tried installing a5 port rom for samsung note 3 but after installation it restarts to recovery and gives the error "error mounting data, failed to wipe data".
one more thing i had been using custom roms without any hassle but now it seems to backfire everytime
Well am sorry to inform you that your data partition is now corrupted, this happenes when you flash something with odin and somthing goes wrong there or some other reason in twrp or cwm but if you cant't format them and you didnt make a backup then am sorry you will lose all of your stuff to get your phone backup and running
well to fix this you need to install twrp by odin then go to wipe/advanced/ then choose data !!! (REMEMBER THIS WILL ERASE EVERY THING ON YOUR PHONE) !!!
after you check the data box press change file system or repair then change the file system to anything then make it ext4 again then you will be able to access your data partition again but you wont have anything on your phone so you should put a backup f your rom and gapps and everything you have your comp if you could before doing this

thanx man, i was able to restore it that way. but there is one problem, it works fine on stock rom or modified stock roms or tw roms but i cant seem to use aosp roms. After Installing stock 5.0, i tried DU 7.1.2 but again it said " Could not do normal boot "
i know most of you are buzy people , but i will be greatful if anyone can help
Well try to do a factory reset wipe then install the rom and then the gapps and then install a kernel because when i had the same problem that you had with the error moutning anything it didn't want to boot so try installing a kernal as xenial or synergy after installig the rom
For some reason I cannot decrypt when booting TWRP. On a normal boot, I get the prompt to enter my PIN, I enter my PIN, and it boots. In TWRP it says "failure to decrypt."
I'm using 3.2.1-7 of TWRP, which worked before, but now it's unable to decrypt my internal data.
Halp?
Edit: I guess when I get home I'll install an older version of TWRP and see if that helps, but I am otherwise sunk.

First thoughts : Backup internal and format data.
Perhaps try https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=818222786056030640 but that's only for lockscreen but you'll never know
edit : or try like another twrp3.2.1.0 (but will result in repair data too) or 3.2.1.6

I mean, I know I'll be able to backup all my data since I can access it on a normal boot. Just very weird/annoying. I'm going to try flashing an older version of TWRP and seeing if it works.
...Maybe I should backup my data first
Did you ever find a solution to decrypting in TWRP? Currently having same issue with LOS15.1 and TWRP3.2.3.0.
I wasnt able to get mine to work, so I just backed up all my data and reformated, if you lost root you can still sideload magisk, dunno why but you can
As the title says, TWRP is unable to decrypt data. It doesn't even ask me for my passcode anymore.
This started yesterday after I flashed a ROM and it bootlooped, and I ended up having to format my entire data partition including internal storage because I couldn't get it to boot etc, and I to fastboot flash all the stock images.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem, or if anyone might know a potential fix. I can still adb sideload zips, but I have no access to my internal storage whatsoever, so I can't even make Nandroid backups.
Regards
What version of twrp are u using or did u use cause I have twrp on my 6T and I had none of those issues and ijusdidit a few days ago..there's a fajita-3.2.3-28 what I used..you'll have to use the msm download tool to get back to stock..just do a search for it..it's popular..anyways I had previously put mine in abootloop about month ago and I used that tool and it erased everything and put me back to 9.0.11 I believe..

I actually got it fixed. I tried flashing the unofficial fajita-3.2.3-28 and was able to decrypt my data partition (after I had already formatted it, much to my dismay) but then it forced me into a bootloop for some odd reason. In the end, I just installed the latest official build of TWRP and it can both decrypt data and doesn't bootloop me. So yay.
Nice
My device bootlooped after new update, it seemed fine, i update it normally last week and it worked fine. today i did a TWRP backup of all of the partitions and then rebooted and it went into bootloop. I was able to flash all the partitions again with the flash-all-partitions.bat and got it out of fastboot. Now i can boot TWRP with an .img again.
The problem is that my data is all encrypted, like it mounts but its all in ramdom folders with ramdom names, and TWRP is not asking for the code to decrypt it. I dont know how to decrypt the data. How can i decrypt it? ( i know the code as it was my password).
Thank you
I would say format data and re-flash rom via twrp, that should remove encryption (but you loose all of your data) and you should be able to normally boot.
