Smart Lock and Fingerprints update crashes settings app - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Everybody,
I've the Pure Nexus custom Rom installed on my Nexus 6p and a strange event is happening every time I change the security settings:
1) Deleted the localsecuritysettings.db file from /data/system
2) set up the PIN as main security access method for the phone
3) setup 4 fingerprints for unlocking the phone
Once that is done, if I try to access the fingerprints settings again an error occurs and Settings system app crashes. The same thing happens with the smart lock setting. As soon as I tap on smart lock, the system settings app crashes.
Anyone having the same issue?
Thanks for the help. Luigi

Are you using a substratum theme? If so disable it, reboot and try again.

You might get a better response in the pure nexus thread.

You need to delete
gatekeeper.password.key
gatekeeper.pattern.key
locksettings.db
locksettings.db-shm
locksettings.db-wal
And delete your fingerprint because those is saved.

[GUIDE] Get Pattern Unlock Working On Stock ROM

UPDATE: See post #9 for Gesture unlock and skip the GoLocker lock screen page.
Sorry if this is already posted, but I would just like to point out how I got a pattern unlock working.
1. Download NoLock
2. Disable stock lock screen security
3. Using Es File Explorer or root explorer, copy org.jraf.android.nolock.apk from /data/app/ to /system/app/.
4. Restart
5. Install Go Launcher from the market.
6. Open Go Launcher, then go to menu - preferences - visual settings - go locker - then select go locker enabled.
7. Configure go locker security under security lock
8. Use go launcher and open No Lock, then click the big disable button.
Another way to install no lock is to use titanium backup and change no lock to system app.
The problem with that is, on restart, there is no notification or menu bar. To work around this:
1. Install SwipePad from the market
2. configure one of swipepads slots for no lock
3. On reboot, drag swipepads hotspot to the center, select no lock, then enable and disable locking.
Hope it helps!
By the way, you have to be rooted to read and write to /data/ and /system/
Thanks for this! I found this and tried it on my Nook Tablet and, low and behold, it works as well. Although do you know if there's a way to disable the first lock screen so that only the pattern lock is enabled?
Yea, you just have to get no lock from the market, follow step 3, or you could use titanium backup to change no lock into a system app.
Tell me if that doesn't work.

Well I did that already and it disabled the stock lock screen but not the primary GO Locker screen...does No Lock require any permissions changes?
Thanks!

That is very annoying, yes, but I haven't found a way (yet...)

I was using this method for a while, but found it possible to get around the screen lock when you first boot. Sorry, don't remember the exact procedure, but it was definitely possible. I gave up and went back to the stock locker.
Yes, it doesn't work on first boot, so if you are really concerned about security, you should not use this trick

Ok, I have found a solution. You have to grab the updated GoLocker apk, version 1.23 and install it onto the device. Now, if you look under Settings-Security Lock and check the option Password unlock, it will now skip the lock screen page. Also, you have the option of using a gesture or a pattern.
This seems like a great idea. Going to give it a try as soon as I figure out my root problem...
What issues are you having?

Is Encryption Broken on Android 6.0?

I received my Nexus 6P today, which is running Android 6.0.
By default, the device is encrypted. But it seems most apps that I try to run that require encryption don't realize that my device is encrypted and I'm getting errors and loops: Gmail, Sunrise, Mailwise, Outlook.
Is there something I can do to get these apps to work?
I don't seem to be able to disable and re enable encryption.
Is this happening to anybody else?
6P has hardware encryption. You need to encrypt it through software also.

Thank you. That seems to fix it. For those people googling this you get there from Settings > Security > PIN Lock > Secure Start-up
Not a very intuitive fix and should probably be bundled with the encryption settings.
I skipped through the startup to unlock and root the phone immediately when I got it and I didn't get the option for secure startup afterwords, took me forever to find that setting.

[GUIDE] Reset lock and fingerprint data on CM13

(Hopefully this is the right place.)
Those who have installed @hsbadr's CM13 port for the 910V might have found that fingerprints can't be deleted from Settings. Well, after not finding much on Google and having to resort to searching my filesystem, I believe I have found the two files that deal with fingerprint data and configuration. Since there seems to be nothing online about this, I want to share what I did.
To remove fingerprint and lock data, delete these two files:
Code:
/data/validity/template.db
/data/system/users/0/settings_fingerprint.xml
Reboot once they've been deleted, and then set up your lock settings again.
I was in a situation where I had only deleted template.db. That just screwed everything up and made it so I couldn't even set a pattern or PIN unlock without Settings crashing. Deleting the second file as well fixed it for me.
It could also be helpful to delete /data/system/locksettings.db, but I'm not entirely sure if it will have any effect other than resetting every setting under Lock Screen.

S8 forgets Wifi-Network everytime Wifi gets toggled

So I'm having this issue where my SM-G950F looses ALL known Networks when Wifi gets toggled.
I installed the update which came on the 21.04 but since I'm rooted I can't recieve OTA Updates anymore
Wlan driver is: Wlan v1.0 Release 1
Is there any fix for this?
Exactly the same issue with root here
I'm also rooted and having the same issue
Still happening .... does noone have a clue how to fix this ?
I've got the very same issue. It's very annoying. Hope someone finds a fix soon.
I'm also on a rooted Samsung S8+.
I think I have the same problem, but only when the WiFi-network has a password. It will remember the networks without password but as soon as I reboot or toggle Wifi it will have forgotten the network and password.
I also noticed the information disappears from the wpa_supplicant.conf-file.
I tried to solve it by:
- Deleting cache and data of google backup transport
- Deleting the DHCP-folder in /data/mics/
- Deleting the network-info in wpa_supplicant.conf
- Setting ro.secure.storage=false to false in BuildProp
- Deleting the ss_data-folder in /efs/
Nothing worked.
I have a Galaxy S8 (SM-G950F), Android 7.0 rooted with Magisk. To make room for Open GApps I had to remove some system-apps.
- Any of you installed Open GApps as well?
- I also noticed I had to enter a bluetooth passkey today. Although I previously connected my phone to my car. Could it be bluetooth is also affected?

I've also rooted with Magisk but I haven't removed any apps/installed GApps.
I've noticed the same with Bluetooth, my Zenwatch3 will ask me to confirm the passkey on my phone before pairing.
Did you by any chance enable 'unified hosts adblock' in Magisk? It was the cause of my problems. Disabled that and it worked.

Hmm interesting...
I've enabled "systemless host" in magisk but I'm using AdAway app rather than the "Unified Hosts Adblock" module.
I'll mess about with these and see if it resolves.
Same issue here on 955f, rooted with magisk, dhcp folder and file changed, systemless host off and still no wifi in memory. Has someone performed wipe to see if the issue has been resolved this way? Thanks

Draw over other apps permission resetting upon screen lock

Hello folks. I'm posting here to try to get a few ideas on potentially solving this issue:
3rd party apps that I download that require the "Allow display over other apps" permission, have that permission reset when the phone locks. At which point when I attempt to use the app again, it asks for the permission to be set.
When lock screen is set to PIN when I give the permission, then press the power button to lock. Once I enter my pin and re-enter the app, it immediately asks for the permission again. If i disable "Power button instantly locks" then this doesn't happen...because of course the power button is not locking the phone.
If i remove the lock screen completely. Then the permission is reset as soon as I hit the power button. I'm somewhat at a loss as to how to correct this. Is this a "feature" of Android 9? If so it's extremely irritating. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.
I'm using the Oneplus A6013 (6t) with OxygenOS 9.0.11 Build A6013_34_190510 completely stock.
What I have tried:
I have attempted to clear the cache from recovery.
I have tried removing the "Modify system settings" permission from all non-system apps.
I have tried a different launcher. I have tried to disable the finger print scanner.
I have disabled and removed all permissions from tmobile apps such as "com/tmobile.pr.adapt".
I have disabled the "Display over other apps" permission for all other apps.
I have disabled battery optimization for the apps that need the permission.
