UPDATE: See post #9 for Gesture unlock and skip the GoLocker lock screen page.
Sorry if this is already posted, but I would just like to point out how I got a pattern unlock working.
1. Download NoLock
2. Disable stock lock screen security
3. Using Es File Explorer or root explorer, copy org.jraf.android.nolock.apk from /data/app/ to /system/app/.
4. Restart
5. Install Go Launcher from the market.
6. Open Go Launcher, then go to menu - preferences - visual settings - go locker - then select go locker enabled.
7. Configure go locker security under security lock
8. Use go launcher and open No Lock, then click the big disable button.
Another way to install no lock is to use titanium backup and change no lock to system app.
The problem with that is, on restart, there is no notification or menu bar. To work around this:
1. Install SwipePad from the market
2. configure one of swipepads slots for no lock
3. On reboot, drag swipepads hotspot to the center, select no lock, then enable and disable locking.
Hope it helps!
By the way, you have to be rooted to read and write to /data/ and /system/
Thanks for this! I found this and tried it on my Nook Tablet and, low and behold, it works as well. Although do you know if there's a way to disable the first lock screen so that only the pattern lock is enabled?
Yea, you just have to get no lock from the market, follow step 3, or you could use titanium backup to change no lock into a system app.
Tell me if that doesn't work.

Well I did that already and it disabled the stock lock screen but not the primary GO Locker screen...does No Lock require any permissions changes?
Thanks!

That is very annoying, yes, but I haven't found a way (yet...)

I was using this method for a while, but found it possible to get around the screen lock when you first boot. Sorry, don't remember the exact procedure, but it was definitely possible. I gave up and went back to the stock locker.
Yes, it doesn't work on first boot, so if you are really concerned about security, you should not use this trick

Ok, I have found a solution. You have to grab the updated GoLocker apk, version 1.23 and install it onto the device. Now, if you look under Settings-Security Lock and check the option Password unlock, it will now skip the lock screen page. Also, you have the option of using a gesture or a pattern.
This seems like a great idea. Going to give it a try as soon as I figure out my root problem...
What issues are you having?

Hello,
I like the AuraxTsense them a lot but love the stock lock screen.
I have been trying to use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686567&highlight=lock but ended with endless loop bootscreen.
Also tried botlock but ended with two lock screens one after another.
Anyone have an idea how to do it ?
Thanks,
Nir
Uninstall "HTCLockscreen.apk" With an app like "SystemApp Remover".(didn't find any free alternative...) PM me if you want a link...
I think(quite sure) S-OFF is required.
If I understand you correctly, you want to use the "stock Android lockscreen" with AuraxTsense? You can use "Widget Locker" from the Market for that.

Yeah, Widget Locker is the way to go if you don't have S-OFF, OR: as EleCtrOx666 said, delete the HtcLockScreen.apk and reboot your phone.
My phone is S-OFF.
I don't feel like buying specific software for something that I am not sure working.
Does anybody have an idea how to do it\ test it without buying anything ?
Nir
Just unzip the .zip file of AuraxTSense, go to system/app and delete or rename HtcLockScreen.apk to HtcLockScreen.bak, for example and flash the Rom.
But keep in mind that you cant turn off the alarm from the lockscreen any longer as long as you use the regular alarm.
I almost killed me first morning

I know that there are apps in the market for this, but the apps disable all lockscreens.
What I really want is when I turn on the screen i want to see the unlock pattern. Now when i enable the unlock pattern I have to pull down the lock screen of HTC and then i can unlock the phone of the pattern.
I tried to remove htclockscreen.apk but this didnt help for me. I used visionary for root and removed/froze the file with titanium backup and i also tried root explorer. Both without succes

bump! anyone got an idea?
Same problem here, any ideas how to change this?
As far as I know the only way is to root/HBOOT and do custom ROM (Modaco Custom ROM ie.).
But in some way the custom roms achives this, so it must be possible without flashing a full rom...
In the themes and apps section there is this exact same thread. Some people are saying to rename the htc lock screen apk file using root explorer. That way it uses the stock lock screen because it can't find htc's one.
nope, this shows then the standard slide-to-unlock screen
New method.
I have figured out a safer way to install a custom launcher. Your device still needs to be rooted.
1- Download the launcher of your choice from the Play Store.
2- With a file manager of your choice navigate to data/app folder, this will have all the apk's you've downloaded from the Play Store. (the name of the apk will look different ie: nova launcher is named "com.teslacoilsw.launcher.apk" )
3- Move launcher apk to system/app folder install or reboot(the permissions should already be set to rw-r--r-- so no need to change them)
Personally I like using Rom Toolbox Pro/Lite(can be found in play store, i bought the pro version for more options), I have no affiliation but this app is great and you should check it out. It has every different tool for root users you can think of. In the App Manager section if you long press on any app there is an option to "convert to system app", no moving, cut/paste, or installing.
This should help avoid getting some screwed up apk file from an alternate source and messing up your device.
As always try at your own RISK.
I would recommend checking out this thread before messing around with your device:

Can you specify which version of Go Launcher you used and where you obtained the apk from?
After having a near-brick experience attempting to install Go Launcher on my original Kindle Fire last year, I'd like to try it with something known to work.
Thanks in advance.

I just googled go launcher ex apk. Dont think its ok to specify exactly which site i used(3rd maybe..) but I downloaded v3.13.
I completely feel ya, try at your own risk but definitely worked with mine.
I didn't need to restart but I can confirm go launcher and Nova are working. I'm sure any launcher will
Well maybe some of these other launchers are better but all I want is the android look to tell the truth with icons so ADW Launcher EX without rooting is fine by me to get away from the carousel.
Works great. Thank you.

For me its not even about which launcher is better they all have pros and cons, but i personally like to use my home button. With this process you can set the launcher as default. Not be bounced back to the stock launcher every time you use the home button and have to reload a custom launcher. Too much of a hassle for me and takes away from the experience.
This method also worked with Go Launcher HD, it looks better then then regular Go Launcher imho.

It does i agree, but is there a way to hide the notification bar and action bar on hd version?
I didn't find the way to hide NAV bar. All works perfect with Go launcher HD. I am sure that nobody want to try removing NAV bar, cause it is a high risk of breaking your KFHD. Auto-hide in this case would be great, but i can't understand when NAV bar hides. I suppose it hides when there is in exit button, or return button in running apk. IMHO.
How do you change permission on a non rooted device. I downloaded the go launcher hd all v1.17. I tried rebooting and nothing. Can I do this on a stock fire. If so can you provide a step by step. I tried moving the apk to system/apps but says the apk cannot be moved. Thanks

There is a setting in go launcher ex that allows you to hide nav and notification bars, the little tab is still visible at the bottom or side of screen so you can open them with ease. Gives the tablet a full screen. I love the look of the hd version but would rather have the full screen, wish the would put this option on the hd version

you cannot change permissions of system files or anything about them unless the device is rooted. This keeps the average person from screwing up there device.
Lockscreen?
Guys, have any of you had luck with the lockscreen for GoLauncher? I tried GoLocker and i had to go through the original Amazon Kindle Fire HD lockscreen and then to the GoLauncher Lockscreen. SO, basically, i had two lockscreens going on at once. Is there a fix for this?

Happens with the KF 1st gen also but I never bothered with it. Might want to look into the KF 1st gen and see if anyone found a way around it.

To get go launcher ex working on the KFHD I took these steps.(On rooted device)
1- download the Go launcher ex.apk from a third party (from play store will not work)
3- change permissions to rw-r--r--
2- using a file manager find the apk and move to system/app folder.
4- reboot the device.
When it reboots there should be a message saying "kindle is upgrading".
Then it should prompt you to pick which launcher you want to use.
If you did not get the latest version you can now go to play store and update.
I assume this will work for other launchers though i have not tried it.
Finally I feel like im using more of an android interface(at least until someone figures out this bootloader problem and i can flash cm10)
I just downloaded go launcher hd and did not change permissions, still worked. Could someone tell me if this is necessary. I just copied the permissions of the stock launcher when i loaded the ex version so i assumed it was necessary they were the same

I did step by step like you, but after restarted my KFHD freezing at KF logo, please help me to fix it.
First question, did you install this app in the /system/app folder, AFTER you placed it in there? You must install the launcher after it is placed and permissions are changed. It appears you may have a soft brick if that KFHD isnt booting at all.

WELP! That doesn't seem like a great scenario to be in. If this was me, I would connect it to my PC and pray that while you're stuck in that logo limbo it would still give you connectivity. I would then go into the /system/app through your PC (on your KFHD directory) and physically remove the launcher files. Then try a restart.
Widget locker works on the kindle fire 2, download said app from the play store and move the app to system/apps permissions are already set. After the app is moved install it and re boot and voila custom lock screen

My bootloader hasnt been unlocked or broken in any way. Im using the kindle fire 2nd gen, and personally i prefer safestrap by hashcode over anything else, for the simple fact that it makes it alot easier for me to prevent any kind of brick.
Just so i know, has anyone used this on the kfhd And how well does it work? From my understanding it should work just the same as on my kft but i may be wrong

WidgetLocker Lockscreen by Teslacoil Software
To All-
This is now a paid application and so we are not taking from a fellow developer, here is
revised instructions:
Lock Screen Step 1: Open Google Play Store, Search for "Teslacoil Software".
Lock Screen Step 2: The search results will return about 6 choices. Choose
"WidgetLocker Lockscreen"
Lock Screen Step 3: Next, pay $2.36. Then you will be presented with an
option to "Install". Choose "Install".
Lock Screen Step 4: Next Reboot. There is an odd bug if you do not Reboot,
so immediately reboot after the install has completed.
Lock Screen Step 5: Next, open Root Explorer. Using Root Explorer, Move
com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker-1.apk from /data/app to /system/app
Lock Screen Step 6: Check the permissions of com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker-1.apk
should be Owner: Read Write, Group: Read, Others: Read and Change
the Owner to 0-root.
Lock Screen Step 7: Reboot the Kindle, wait for the Kindle to Upgrade
Lock Screen Step 8: Launch Widget Locker and configure as needed.

KindleFireGuy and idontwanttobeanoob,
I new you must have been out of town since you are very good about responding to threads.
Also, it has happened to me. It is really hard to keep up with the software vendors, what is
free today may be a paid application tomorrow and just like that you have gone from a legitimate
post to an illegal post. The bottom line is: As long as you remove the link once you have been
made aware of the issue, there is no problem. Everyone have a great 2013 and than you for
taking care of the problem idontwanttobeanoob.
I have run into few people with this problem so I'm making this guide to help anyone with this problem. You may have to reset kindle in order to access a different app since there is no navigation bar.
1: First you have to have a file explorer installed. Go to amazon app store and download es file explorer ( you should be able to get there without status and navigation bar ) or use this version http://db.tt/hMeT0kvg.
2: Now download this adw launcher http://db.tt/ezZp558n it is an old free version but works with or without root.
3: Now go to your file explorer and go to your download folder and find the adw launcher apk file you just downloaded and install it.
4: Once installed open the launcher and go to the app drawer from there you should see a settings icon. Press on it to access your system menu.
WARNING: This next step involves a factory restore and you will loose anything on your kindle. Everything will need to be Re downloaded and installed. You will also have to re root if you had root before.
5: Now in the system settings you need to go to device then factory restore. You will need to have your battery level at a minimum of 40% or you'll have to wait till it reaches that before you can factory restore.
Once restored you should be good to go.
Please give thanks to those who help. Everyone here helps and devotes there time to each other. Especially the developers. A thanks goes along way and is much appreciated.
