Do you think there will be more updates for Note 4? To console us after Note 7 epic failure maybe?
Samsung wants more people to buy their new devices , so that they can recover the loss caused due to the note 7 fiasco.
Therefore another Update for old device means that people will stick to older devices.
This is surely something that samsung doesnt wants .

Daily I'm checking the sammobile web page looking forward to find some good news on the lollipop update for the Note 4 910U model, but everytime I see the variant on the list, it's a KK update and it's driving me crazy.
Why is it taking so long to update that model specifically? Why does it have so different compared to the others versions? Please, someone clarify me this point and also give me some ideas about what to do if I wanna have Android 5.0 in that model (oficially/stock) without bricking or screwing my phone.
Thanks.

I have this model as well and I am also frustrated about this issue. If I am not mistaking, SM-N910U model uses Intel XMM 7260 LTE Modem and Intel is responsible to create kernels and drivers for the new operating system. I don't think Samsung received the .so and sdk package from Intel yet. Everything else is identical to the SM-N910C model. From Intel's track records, they lack extremely when it comes down to android programming.
If someone would have told me when I bought my phone in October that I will still not get Lollipop by mid March I would have said he's crazy.
Way to go, Samsung!
no note4 has a proper android release yet. there are no new features available. so have patience. last update was feb for KK.
hopefully new update will be next month with android 5.1+Camera API 2.0

Unfortunately this is most likely just wishful thinking... At least for the Camera API (And velyblikely Ni 5.1 either...)
Anyway good to know Intel has its share of responsibility (That being said Samsung, why the hell so may variants??? Take example in competitors. We are not guinea pigs testing very hardware out there for your pleasure... At the end if the day we are buying a Samsungbproduct. That the modem make doesn't deliver drivers in due time shouldn't be our problem... We are not talking about a cheap low cost Chinese phone there.
the 910u has the best hardware there is. sometimes drivers are not available and have to be written. would you prefer having a worse modem with worse data performance to having the best there is ? i dont think so otherwise you would have a 910F with crappy snapdragon and bad modem instead.
It's the responsibility of the Samsung to deliver.

Hello guys,
I am new to the site, registered today, but always been a lurker from now and then.
Anyway after the mugging of my previous Note 4 about 3 months ago, i now have bought a new Note 4 again, They exynos model i believe SM-N910C (definitely wouldn't buy a note 5 or anything else, i'm just wowed by it) and this particular one, had android lollipop 5.1.1 already within the box. I did a software update, and it downloaded a 90mb update and installed.
The point of the thread is about Android device protection.
Does my Note 4 have it? I've read multiple places that most devices shipped with lollipop 5.1.1 will have it,
But when i locked my phone (using pin, pattern, fingerprint, passcode) and then after removing it, i did not receive that dialog which says "are you sure you want to remove the lock, device protection will be disabled".
So does the phone have it?
I appreciate your help guys.
I use the Galaxy Tab 4 in my product line that relies heavily on the bluetooth performance, especially SPP.
Tab 3 lite failed miserably with random bluetooth issues like disconnects, etc..
Unfortunately, I see that samsung is discontinuing, or has discontinued the Tab 4 line. But I also saw a brand new Tab A 7.0 model, likely its successor.
My ultimate question is, What bluetooth chipset does it use compared to the Tab4? is it the same? different? Worse or Better?
Any ideas? Thanks.
I wouldn't bother with that device anyway. Samsung have locked it down and locked it's bootloader.

That didn't answer my question. I dont give a rats *** whether the bootloader is signature locked or not as it bears no relevance to what I am doing, and my product line. This isn't about root. Besides CPU glitching could fix that, But I digress.
I needed to know its bluetooth performance, or what is the best tablet for the price that contains the same bluetooth stability as the Tab 4.
My application is mission critical on the bluetooth SPP profile, and I had found the Tab 4 met those expectations, whereas the tab 3 lite or any "lite" tablet did NOT.
any thoughts? Thanks.

Wrong forum, this is for phones A3/5/7/8 not tablets.
Sent from my SM-A500FU
Well I seen Galaxy A, I figured thats where it goes...
Sorry, Could a moderator please move it into the correct forum? That would be appreciated. Thanks!
Just to update, the bluetooth performance and range is total garbage. Now looking for an alternative...
I'm new to XDA, just trying to post a fact I've heard from my father, who was in charge of development of S2, Note tablet series and Note 4, 5, 7, FE and 8, etc.
As he gave me Fan Edtion to me, telling me this is so meaningful to his team. When I asked aboth LED cover, he said "Although this Fan Edition's internel parts are mostly newly build, instead of using 7 parts, It still can use Note 7 LED flipcover and battery pack - but intentionally blocked the usage of note 7 accessaries softwarely. Therefore it's function is intact, just disabled."
He later also gave me note7 LED cover and battery cover as somebody would already managed to restored it. But I'm suprised most of XDA users didn't even try so, thinking it's hardware problem.
So we can say note 7 battery pack is in fact working, but soon blocked by system when it finishes acknoledging where the wave is comming from - which means it can be unlocked, alongside with all note 7 accesaries.
Therefore I'm asking you guys, to find the blockcade and restore it's functions. If it's not hardware issue - why not? If you can edit kernel or porting(like arter97 or topjohnwu), even completely re-building custom android from AOPS, I'm sure someday, someone will make it working. Just like magisk eventually showed up and saved us from root detections.
P.S. I know you'll never find this post, but, thanks for all that hard works, dad. Congraturation for graduating from 25-year-long development post. You really did something to your Samsung electronics. I wish you could stop overworking just for few days and have time with us..

hi guys i think huwaei is busy in developing its new deices and as a market strategy ,its continue and focusing on new devices. As after 4 months thereis no update for our device and newly launch devices like 9 lite and 7 x which is cheaper in price and have almost same specs as we have.but for themhuwaei have update and our device doesnt getting a face unlock feature.i think its my big mistake to jump from mi to huawei.very slow or say no updates.shame on them.
i feel that we are cheated.
Never too late to sell your phone. I was blinded by the quad-camera hype as well and sold my Redmi Note 4... Now I'm sure as hell am going back to Xiaomi. Took them long to release the Note 5 Pro.
4 months????
Huawei gave Face unlock and AR Sticker just 2 months ago. There's beta testing going for Oreo in some regions. It has highest chances of getting Treble support, it bootloader can be unlocked, TWRP is available. Huawei will likely give it 2 major upgrades (O and P). Even after that you can flash GSI (with Treble support) of latest android (say Q). As Google is modularizing most stuff there will be a time when we can flash latest android version just like we flash latest Windows on old PCs.
If you feel cheated then think about us with a Samsung S8, Note 8 which is high end device and there's no treble support for us. We can't unlock BL (US models). We won't get exclusive S9 features through update (Huawei is giving face unlock through update, EMUI 8).
Still you think it's abandon..
