Drivers not working? - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Yes, yes, I know, this device is practically as old as Android itself. But, I still use it! Which entitles me to at least something, right...?
Anyway, I've been trying to update this device from it's ancient firmware of Android 1.6 (it was never updated to 2.2). I tried using it on a Windows 10 machine, and of course the drivers don't work. So I tried it on Windows 7... Windows Vista... Windows XP 64-bit. None of them worked! Finally, I tried using Windows XP 32-bit. It was the only OS that recognized fastboot as "Android 1.0" for more than a few seconds. It wouldn't let me install the drivers, however, as it just told me that they weren't compatible. They are the lastest Android fastboot drivers, though, and I guess they don't play nice with... the oldest version of Android. I haven't been able to find older drivers though.
When running the RUU in normal Android OS mode, it says it can't detect the phone, and it's listed as a storage device in device manager.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I don't want this phone to die just yet!
EDIT: Nevermind, after a huge charade of dualbooting Windows and Ubuntu, I managed to get to the 2005 HBOOT and to flash the 32B Amon Ra recovery! Now to find a ROM that actually works

Not able to get usb connection in bootloader.

Hi, as you can see, i can't get a usb connection. i can hear the computer make a noise, but thats it. i unplug the cable and i get serial notice.
running hspl 2.08 on a tmous hd2.
*also, if i install any other rom, my phone gets the "htc" screen, then reboots, and does this over and again.
Hi,
Need a bit more information...
What have you done leading up to this fail point?
Have you got Activesync (XP) or current windows 7 version installed?
What have you done leading up to this fail point?
i've been running imilka_HD_RAM v1, but i thought i'd try v2, or gingerbread. i install through clockwork, it finnishes, so i reboot. i get the htc screen (only says htc), and then it reboots again, and does the same thing. so i figured i'd do a task 29, but i haven't been able to get it to recognize the usb, though it works just fine when android is running. just not boot loader or mag.
the only way to get out of the infinite loop is by recovering the v1 i was running. happens with all the roms i try.

current windows 7 is running.

Hi,
From you did a task 29 you have virtually wiped your phone clean. No ROM,No magldr.
You need to start again from scratch...
I hope you had some data backups...
Check my sig ,guide number 2 if you need help.
ive done task29 before, so i know that i need to reinstall the radio, hspl, magl, and clockwork. i have my current rom backed up on a computer, an if i let i let it start up, android boots up fine.
kinda weird and frustrating since i want to try another rom out.

It would be nice if you could provide us with a little bit more information.
Have you installes hspl? if yes, which version?
Have you installed a Custom ROM while the device hang the first time?
What did you do afterwards. What do you mean with "installed original RUU"? Did you install your provider ROM? How did you do it (via SD-Card or via Active Sync connection)?
It is difficult to say what to do when I don´t know what caused your issue
the problem is solved

Been, Can you tel me how the problem solve, our experience is valuable to other user. I do apolgize if I put in the wrong room. It should go to Android or WinMo.
Background :
I bought a used HD2 and the phone have been flashed with H-SPL 1.28 and winmo6.5 installed. I did task29, flash Cotulla 1.13 boot loader. Flashed WM7 and back again wm6.5 and again. Since there I flashed so many NAND Android ROM with No serious issue. The only issue can not charge when OFF )
my friend wanna to buy this HD2 and she asked to give winmo6.5 for unknown reason. As advised by many tutorial, I took RUU 1.48, copied RUU_Signed.nbh and renamed to LEOIMG.nbh. Put on SD and reboot info boot loader push down volume button and power simultaeously. Upgrade went well.
Once booting white screen appear and loading .... for seconds 0002800 appear Not Allow and back to RGB Boot loader.
I do the following to recover : connect USD to Virtual XP machine. I just realize that the virtualbox is new fresh install after harddisk failure. I run ubuntu 10.04 x86_64 now. No activesync on windows (virtual). I download from microsoft and install activesync. No lucks, when I flash HSPL2 connection error. all USB Method can not work sync win machine requested syncing with activesync, which is I can not do
I posted similar problem on general Q/A someone advised to flash with SD method by using Stock ROM, Im downloading now from htc and they offering 1.66 after keying in the S/N.
Q : Give me clue, opinion, experience. will the phone UP by flashing 1.66 RUU ? if No, Is there any other method to recover. I have to hurry or I will face batterry run out.
I'm familiar with linux, I was retirement of gentoo user and now using ubuntu since ubuntu is just wotk. I did many times compiling gentoo kernel and doing patching the kernel (guided by google - LOL) i.e patching USB TV Tuner to enable work in linux.
I have SDK installed on my ubuntu machine. Please guide me further all guru here
cheers up

There´s no need to install HSPL in order to install your Stock ROM. Don´t use any ROM but that one that came with that device (e. g. T-Mobile ROM for a T-Mobile branded device, HTC for a non-branded device.
Install it via SD-Card as you described. That should work.

What have i done !!

I decided to go from Android to try wm7 mango and have messed up big time i think.I am at the moment on the tri colour screen and stuck a serial even though the usb is connected so i cant do a task 29 or anything else.I was on hpsl 2.08 to run android.I have tried to go back to win 6.5 via the memory card method which has put spl 1.66 back on but failed with the update. On the tri colour screen the message is "Upgrade rom code error please try again"
I am totally stuck at what to do next just to get my phone to boot into anything.I need to get the tri colur screen to show usb somehow so i can fix this mess i have just done.
Any ideas and thanks
I also get a 0028002 not allow msg when i try to boot a original 6.5 Rom via the mem card if that helps matters
Ok don't freak out your problem sounds very solvable. First the Serial in the white bar of the bootloader screen is not changing to USB because you do not have the drivers on your computer, this is the only reason you will ever have this problem. To solve it you have two choices.
One go to here and download Windows Mobile Device Center and install i on your computer. It has the drivers you need in it. I could not find the official download from the Microsoft site, they may have taken it down I don't know. If you have Windows XP on your PC you will need to down load Active Sync google and you will find it.
The second choice is to go to here and download version 4.1 of the HD2 NAND Toolkit by XDA Recognized Developer ksubedi. Install the toolkit and open it then look at the bottom right hand corner of the toolkit window and click on the Download Drivers button and you can download the drivers from there. You will have to unzip the file and run the installer to do this.
Also what HD2 do you have, is it a TMOUS or a EU HD2? this will help me know what ROM you can use to flash a stock Windows Mobile back to your HD2 being you now have SPL 1.66.
Thanks for that I am getting the drivers now.I have a EU hd2 and am wanting to put any win 6.5 custom rom on as i was trying to give wm7 another go.
Thanks Again

Sorry for the tad late response. Seeing how you have SPL 1.66 you can still use the HSPL 4 to flash 2.08 HSPL back to your HD2 and then flash anything you want be it a stock Win Mo ROM, Custom Win Mo ROM, MAGLDR, or cLK. You can also use the HD2 NAND Toolkit to flash HSPL 2.08.
I can't install the drivers as I am running 32bit windows 7 and they wont install on my laptop is there anyway around this thanks

No, install is fast & simple, maybe you have virus software causing issues with install or problems with your windows 7 OS ...
I think its time I had a format of my computer and start a fresh its been running really slowly lately.
Thanks for all the tips got my beloved HD2 running again even after dropping in a sink full of water and in the airing cupboard in a bag of rice for a couple of days seems to have sorted it out.All indicators are red yet she still lives !
Thanks all

HD2 Magldr 1.13 wait USB...

Hi, I've flashed the HSPL 2.08 or smth.. flashed Magldr 1.13, checked the last Nand blocksthat sd thing on the Services menu in Magldr, but I can't detect my HD2 in USB Flash mode. Bootloader detects fine. When I plug it in, my computer has the same sound as when I plug in a unrecognized device. Device manager shows "Unrecognized device".
Any idea how to fix this? and yes I've uninstalled and reinstalled WMDC multiple times.
Windows 7 64bit
sometimes this happen on x64 windows... for these reason i never use x64 windows anymore...
you can try this: connect device (when is in magldr), go to device manager and uninstall conflicted driver... disconnect device, uninstall Zune and WMDC... restart computer... install WMDC, install Zune and connect device...
I seemed to have solved it. To anyone else that has this problem, please find a friend with windows XP. I literally installed it in 5 minutes. ughh shouldn't have wasted hours trying this on Win 7 x64

I messed it up, big time! In need for help.

Today a friend of mine come by and he has HD2 to.. He had Nexus build installed, and wanted to have wp7.8, so I thougt i will give him a hand. So the first thing I've done was in Magdlr v1.13 went under the 10.Service menu ClearSD MBR and than UseLast24Nand, then I put the phone in to the bootloader menu where it says:
PPB110 HX-BC
SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G CE
0X05
CoutullaHSPL 0x50
And then SERIAL and after its pluged in USB.
Problem is when I try to flash new rom (dosen't matter what rom) WP7.8, WP7, Windows Mobile 6.5...
I get those errors:
1. ERROR [260] CONNECTION
2. An Error has occured
Read below for more infromation
Error Description: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp(1198)
What Am I doing wrong? Is it that PC dosent know that the phone is pluged in? So drivers? Or something else?
for win7 - go to microsoft windows mobile device centre page and manually download and install it, , the one that ships with win7 doesn't get the hd2.
also, try various usb ports, because each port installs its own drivers, so if one port gets messed up, you can often bypass it by using another port.,
if you're on a 64bit windows ver, and have access to a 32 bit, try it on there.
also, there are two separate and distinct types of flashing, (which im sure you know but since you mix them in your post, i'll clarify anyway, just in case) hspl, radios, magldr, is flashed from bootloader, wp7/cwm/android is flashed from magldr
also, go paste
RSPL\RSPL.cpp(1198)
into google, , lots of hits.
