How to get the Pixel's Stabilization on the 6P - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know the Pixel only has EIS so, hypothetically, it can be used on the 6P (unless it only works with Pixel hardware). Has anyone had any luck doing this?

Developer preview 7.1 is available for the Nexus 6P and I find the stabilization much better.
By the way, the 6P has EIS also.

I understand that the 6P does as well, but I found comparison videos showing the Pixel to be much better. Here's to hoping. I will probably upgrade to the dev preview when I get the kinks sorted out in my 7.0 install.

Nexus 5x Manual Camera Controls and Samples

I'm starting this thread for owners of the Nexus 5x (maybe 6p too?) to share their results using third party camera apps that support manual controls. The most obvious one being Manual Camera.
The new Nexus phone both support the full range of manual controls, being:
- Shutter Speed
- Focus
- ISO
- White Balance
- RAW shooting
It should be interesting to see how much better results can be achieved by fully leveraging these controls, since the stock camera app is so barebones.
Post you photo samples, along with the settings you used!
I would also be curious about an app that has built in video stabilisation

Some RAW images can be downloaded here. The same images developed using Adobe Lightroom with a bit of retouching can be viewed here. IMHO the quality is extremely good for a phone camera.
Third party camera apps aren't good as lg g4/g5 camera app.
Then the best thing would be to have a porting of this, because is the perfection of manual control camera apps!
But i can't do this. D:
Hey guys!!
I'm thinking of buying Nexus 5x, currently using nexus 5.
Want to know about what's the slowest shutter speed available in Nexus 5x
Thank you in advance . please do reply.

Unfortunately, this device goes up to only 0.2 sec, nowhere near to 0.8 sec as the N5. The awesome camera almost makes up for it, but I'm sure Google could change this with a software update.

Image stabilization added to 5X

Will this work on the 6p as well?
http://www.zdnet.com/article/this-o...c-image-stabilization-to-the-nexus-5x-camera/
This is for video stabilisation isn't it? My 6p already had that option
OIS is what is missing. EIS is already in N6p. Optical vs. Electronic.
Oh you are right. I know I read it didn't have it when I bought it as a shortcoming. I am on pure nexus. Is that a setting in there or did they add it with the latest marshmallow update?

6P pictures better than 5X ones, same sensor but why?

6P and 5X use the same camera sensor right?
Lens too?
The only difference in camera performance could be the processor right?
Faster encoding, editing, processing etc. (see burst mode and fps in slowmo).
But If I look for pictures from the two devices the 6p ones look much much better.
Should not these pictures be... I'm not saying equal but... similar in quality?
Thanks
6p has optical image stabilization enabled.
I noticed the same thing. My 6p seems to take much better pictures in every condition than my 5x and they have the same sensor.

It's technically EIS, and it's only for videos assuming I remember that correctly

Yes, 6P has digital image stabilization for 720p and 1080p videos, not for 4K videos..

So I wasn't too far off then. I haven't noticed ant image quality differences between the 5X I had and my 6P.
I believe any differences could be down to slightly different image signal processors inside the Snapdragon SoC. 808 is 12-bit, 810 14-bit.

Pictures & Videos taken with the Google Pixel

Hey everyone, I made a similar post while waiting for the 6P. Let's start off posting pictures of what we can find from reviews and then post your personal shots once the phones start rolling in.
more can be found here: http://phandroid.com/2016/10/04/google-pixel-photo-samples/
per source: It appears at least half of these photos were processed with Snapseed and VSCO.

I'm guessing either that is a HDR+ oversight, meaning it was not utilized properly, or Google decided to keep contrast in this situation. Without being there to view the scene with my own eyes, I can't determine which photo is better (more accurate). Maybe keeping the shadows darker was truer to the scene, and again, produced sharp looking contrast. Or maybe HDR+ dropped the ball here - who knows?
I won't really judge until real reviews come out with post-release software.
I went for a wander at lunchtime to get some real world samples from the camera. Didn't have long so not exactly the best photography but it should give everyone a bit of an idea about the camera's real world performance.
EDIT: It seems the tapatalk upload destroys image quality, so here is a Google Photos link for the full resolution versions of the below, along with a couple of extra shots:

Wouldn't focus quite as close as I wanted despite clicking a lot in the closest flower but plenty of detail where it did decide to focus:

Great photos
Does anyone know or can anyone test to see if adobe lightroom mobile allows taking photos in raw? OR another app to shoot in raw?
Very low light, smokey environment. Turned out much clearer than expected
Just saw this great shootout video from PCWorld. They compare the Pixel (XL in this case) to the S7, iPhone 7 Plus and V20. Def worth watching!

Really love this camera. Everything is so well balanced

I don't care what anybody says. This camera is dope. I like it better than my Samsung Galaxy S7 camera.
Happy Halloween!

Random sunset time comparison with the 6P
Nexus first then Pixel. I believe the result on the nexus is better. Even though it can be harder to capture that shot and even though it takes longer to shoot, process and open the app. The nexus also has terrible stabilisation, has trouble autofocussing and fails to get close up in macros.

I hardly see any difference....
I prefer the pixel slightly,
And the things you mentioned are the difference
I can't download them at full resolution so it's hard to say this way which one is clearly better.

Yeah I uploaded them on tinypic and I thought they embed them in the thread with a click function to take it to their site for full resolution. I could swear it used to do that. I need another solution.

Google Camera (v2.7.008) Lens Blur outputs low resolution image

Hi all,
I've been using Google Camera (this particular version) since Nexus 4, then S6 and then now OnePlus 5. Just found out that the image size was only 1.6mp when using Lens Blur. I can't remember exactly the image size, but I believe it was higher in S6.
Any idea how to get this *fixed*?
Thanks for any input.
PS: There was a reason why I didn't grab the latest version Google Camera. But at the spur of moment, I've forgotten what was the reason.
From what I can tell based on searching, lens blur has always had a low resolution. At one point when the Google Camera app was first released, they had an option to have the resolution at 2048x1536 instead of the default 1024x768, but that option was removed later.

Thanks for the info. Looking back at some Lens Blur photos produced on S6, it was only 2.4mp. I was getting 3.1mp with Nexus 4.
