Bought this app as part of the Play Store sales that just happened. So far it's the best camera app I've tried with the N5. UI is decent, solid amount of features, and shutter speed seems much improved for me.

A couple pics using it. Again, shutter speed is much faster and it doesn't seem to effect low light pics.

Just picked this up, seems faster and focuses better (even though it shows the red focus indicator, it's usually still focused properly.)
Yeah, I found the same, especially in macro mode (all the beer related pics above were in macro with a red focus square).

I'm glad you posted this, most of the camera apps I've tried, even those that have been updated for Nexus 5 and 4.4 compatibility all seemed to act weird when tapping to focus, the exposure on screen would flash really dark and often times stay dark.
This doesn't seem to have that issue, so thanks!
Heres a few random macro/close up shots I took.
Just tried it out much better than the stock camera app in my opinion will be using this one
Can confirm this app rocks! Much much better focus speed and picture quality too. Its on sales now ( I'm not promoting for this app )
Thank you very much for this find!
I have tried so many different camera apps (cameraFX, Camera Awesome,...) until now, and none of them did work out really well.
This one is fast in autofocus, Burst Mode is working and the pictures look great!
Another happy user here, came from iPhone 5 , very happy except camera , that's been solved with this app

Tried the free app... Bought the paid version within 5 minutes. Until Google comes with a fix for the camera, this is going to be my default camera app. Thank you OP. Great find...!!!

stock camera : 1.95 MB photo, slight bulrry good quality

It has a reduced noise option that takes two pictures then merges them together.

Holy [email protected]! This app is a HUGE improvement over the stock camera! Thanks to y'all for pointing it out and recommending it/ showing it off! :highfive:
Just bought it. It was 99 cents so I guess not a big deal to try out. I noticed the auto focus isn't great but tap to focus works better than stock. Is it supposed to have a native video recorder? When I clicked "camcorder" it tried opening my stock video camera and then crashed. Also, I'm not sure if the "reduced noise" is usable. It's fairly slow to take the pic as well as to process it.
EDIT: Nevermind about the video, just read on the app page it doesn't support it.

Had purchased this phone with lot of expectations about OIS camera but unfortunately the camera itself is capable bug LG provided with not a great camera app.
Now I know that there are mods available which to some extent improve the quality of photos but still its not upto the mark.
Now I want to know whether you are using any good camera app which you consider gives better result than the stock camera?
Looking forward to your suggestions.

I personally think the camera itself is great piece of hardware, the software is on the other hand, however, as many reported (and I agreed) the IQ (image quality) when taking in the good light source is super. In another hand, when taking under low light condition, it's crap.
There is a modded version of it, if yours is rooted, give it a try.
I tend not to install 3rd party app.
I've tried the camera on stock lg rom and 4.4.2 on PA, both pictures look terrible compared to the Nexus 5's camera with HDR mode.
I am using Focal camera (from the ex-CyanogenMod app ). Great UI and features. Still beta, but no lags for me)

lmao. random noobs who haven't even used the other device talking about comparison? what do you know? nothing.. keep theorycrafting.
the nexus 5 has an optimized camera app that has better image stabilization and HDR+ mode that actually works by taking 5 pictures and combining it into a much crisper picture compared to normal mode. the HDR mode in the G2 looks practically the same in terms of sharpness and quality.

I'm the opposite heh, I returned my Nexus 5 and picked up a G2 and think the pictures from the G2 look considerably better, in anything but great lightning. Outside with great lighting I think both create very good photos. Additionally, while the software part on the G2 isn't great it's still well ahead of the camera software on the Nexus, which is about as bare bones basic as you can get.

I think it actually only uses 3 pictures though. But not sure. I saw in a review that it uses 3 with 4.4.2 to make it faster a little. But it still turns out great. I personally can't see the difference in pictures unless placed side by side but that's just me I think since I don't really pay too close detail.
One thing I want to say is video on the nexus 5 is terrible unless full day light and even then not very good. It darkens it so much (which I think is software) but it's practically unusable with out lots of light because of that. Hopefully Google fixes that

Is the image stabilization a hardware feature? Like, in the VS980 version of the G2, does image stabilization work when using AOSP-based KitKat roms and the default AOSP camera?
The Lenovo Supercamera or whatever it's called will blow you away mate.

That one is in my Dropbox, it's the same APK from the thread in Apps & Games section.
I think they renamed it to Lenovo SNAPit too, not sure.
Change it to 13MP in the settings menu too, because it's set lower as default.
Here are some shots I just took (huge images)

I'm disappointed too with g2 camera (d802), it is extremely slow and in low light it is impossible to take pictures. Then I installed aosp roms and things got worse. Here some pics, taken in very low light with aosp camera (android 4.4.2) but even with stock rom camera I can not obtain decent results.

Hi! I'm the dev of ProShot. Feel free to ask any questions
To answer yours:
1) No limitations (except for exposure compensation, Google sadly removed that from the Nexus line earlier this year)
2) Working on a bug fix for the upside-down-oriented image sensor. Hope to have that live by the end of the day
I've been using it since it was featured on phonearena. Its a nice full featured app. I just don't think the 6p camera has lived up to the hype for me.

i downloaded the demo, looks pretty neat. Much more easier to use than Manual Camera. Planning to buy soon!
Hi,
Is there a way to lock the white balance and the focus? Cause I found a little bit annoying when the app is changing the WB all the time during the capturing process.
Thanks!
I have it, but wish there was HDR. Without it I don't use it since it makes a big difference.
No, HDR on Proshot?
Well I hope not.
Leave HDR and any such post processing for Lightroom,CaptureOne,Darktable,Aftershot, (maybe even the not-so-optimal Photoshop) etc... the source file for those programs should be as clean as possible second to the data that went out from the camera sensor. Thats the whole point of any RAW format, that it leaves room for more post processing.
If you need to do instant HDR within there are plenty of apps that does all the "cooking" into a fine ready-to-go JPEG.
Anyway, would be nice to se a sale campaign on this, I just fell on this thread accidentally.
how to quick reset?

At the moment HDR is only available on devices that support it at the hardware level (most Samsung and Moto phones). A planned feature is to add HDR compatible with all devices (I'm the dev )
No, I am not using it at all. Everything is perfect with default camera app.

Not natively. What you're seeing in (for example) Google Camera is a software implementation, where the exposure fusion + tone map is done by the app itself, as opposed to being done automatically by the hardware and then handing the HDR photo to the app. ProShot supports the latter, and has the pipeline set up for the former, I just need to decide on the best way to do the exposure fusion + tone map.

I've been using Manual Camera but just recently purchased Proshot. Right now I prefer Manual Camera, but I've been using it longer and am used to it's interface. Manual Camera has also never crashed on me but Proshot has crashed multiple times so that's a bit discouraging.

Take your time please. Love the native app's HDR quality, hope to see similar from ProShot. Thank you for interacting with the community, here and on reddit, that's the main reason I purchased your app. (It certainly wasn't the locked down demo! )
which app is best for image stabilization?
Most of the time I use stock google camera app. Its good for everything most of the time. HDR+ gives me dark photos. So I only use it when I am shooting in bright environment.
On special occasions, when I need DNG, I switch between Manual Camera (its interface is the best + DNG support) and A Better Camera (superb DRO implementation + DNG support) and FV-5 (only because I couldn't get a refund while still within 15 min return window. Asked Dev but never got a reply from him either). My main reason for getting and paying for all these apps was to get manual exposure controls like OPO but only to find out that N6P only goes upto 1/8000 - 1/5" as compared to 1/5000 - 60" (that is 60 seconds) on OPO. Bummer ... . One thing of note is that image quality stays the same. I haven't noticed any appreciable difference. ABC does offer sharper images and lot more detail when shooting with DRO enabled.
However N6P camera is not as open as N5 or OPO. See here for different cameras and the manual controls they offer.
I love the interface of FV-5
But it crashes and stops autofocusing a lot. I would love ProShot a lot more if it had a proper settings screen.

Any plans to add 120fps recording? I'm liking Pro Shot otherwise
Hi all!
After more than a year of hard work I am pleased to announce in this Nexus 5 forum the first beta release of “Camera Super Pixel”, a camera app that takes pictures enhancing the resolution of the camera, improving sharpness and reducing noise.
The app takes a burst of pictures and intelligently combines them into a higher resolution photograph (up to 4x) using an own-developed super-resolution (SR) algorithm. The camera is optimized for static scenes. In other situations the result may not be good.
We are working on improving the performance in terms of speed and quality of the result.
Please send us your feedback if you have any issue with the app.
Thanks for your support!

Hi RonnellTapawan,
the device must support the “burst mode” and raw photo format included in the new Camera2 API. Unfortunately just a few smartphones support this feature. We are working hard to add full support for new devices (Samsung S6 & S7, One Plus Two, LG G4, ...).
Amazing job. Is this possible to make it save photos in dng ? Other than that - once again amazing job

Hi,
the quality varies according to the number of photos the app can mix correctly. You can activate "Debug mode" setting inside the app to check it, we are working hard to improve speed & quality.
Maybe you can add flash and hdr

Hi there, thanks for your efforts. I tried this app on my Z5 E6653. Didn't get the chance to test properly yet but I have a few suggestions for a future release: adding option to enable flash, option to set resolution, and make this app compatible with other devices.
I understand this is still beta but I find the concept very interesting and I'll keep my eye on this one!
Cheers!
Just tested on Xperia Z5 Compact. Works great - definite improvement in image quality. Good idea on the multi image sampling!
Agree with other comments about improved setting options. Although I imagine flash would be difficult to implement due to the camera taking a series of burst shots
