Developer Options > System UI Tuner > Navigation Bar ... From there you can rearrange or delete completely your softkeys.

System UI tuner is not under developer options and there is no navbar tab in either.

Depends which version you are on, and you need to enable it. For ROMs close to stock, when you pull down the notification panel, press and hold the little settings gear. When a wrench appears, it's enabled. It will either show up in dev options or right in the main settings panel.

Google didn't enable it on stock but some custom Roms do, such as SAOSP. Also, take a look under the last Mods section on the homepage, as I believe there is a flash able mod to enable it.

I think you would need to flash the ROM back to stock.

From the sounds of it he already know something about android. Just leave it alone. He probably knows enough not to use it. Besides, the settings there are not dangerous.

Why does it matter if they are there or not? They aren't hurting anything just being there and if you don't know anything about android you are better off just living with it.

Thanks guys, I hope he will learn to use them reading what you guys do,

I was thinking of a factory reset but not sure if this would work plus he says he wants to learn how to root his nexus and get doing the stuff u guys do.thanks for advice

Go and open developer options. On the top right corner there should be a switch to turn it off. I'm on a custom rom and I can't remember if this option is on stock rom. Worth a look.
If he wants the screen full Jelly Beans he needs to tap the Android Version.

It's generally harmless.
Just thought I'd point out that the hidden developer options thing is kinda new to android, previous versions (ICS and below I believe) all had the developer options menu there right from the start, it's only since jellybean that they decided that you need to tap the build thing a couple of times to make it show.
Don't worry about it

Actually it started at 4.2. Everything up through 4.1.2 had it showing.

I'm really digging the phablet UI this time around. It doesn't seem as limited as on the old N7. That's not to say that I'll keep it once custom ROMs come out

If you are rooted, you can manually edit the build.prop file, change the line
Code:
ro.sf.lcd_density=320
to
ro.sf.lcd_density=240

Thats 'tablet mode', 'tablet ui' is an aokp thing. Where notification bar is on bottom panel and soft buttons moved to bottom left which I presume what everybody is wanting.

Yes, exactly. There was a nice tablet UI set up for the old Nexus where the notification bar and the buttons were moved plus the addition of battery percentage display and a new reboot/restart menu option. Hopefully, one of the developer will get to it soon.

can you explain the difference between tablet ui and tablet mode? you are describing details, that were part of android originally before jellybean was released. seems like you are trying to give credit to aokp?
Anyone working on a patch? I am looking for a patch that will provide tablet UI independent of lcd density setting.
On the original Nexus 7, this patch worked well

I am hoping to see something similar for the new Nexus 7.

[Q] How to change quick launch items?

Is there a way to change the quick launch items in the menu that pops up when pulling up from the home button?
I never use QVoice and QMemo so I wanted to see if there was a way to change the options (similar to what can be done in AOSP ROMs).
Thank you!
Edit. My bad. No. There's no way to do that.

Bummer. I was hoping there was an xposed module or something.
Oh well.

Tip. Those using ART. Double check your settings

So I now have ART
If you are considering using this . its better I think also
I had 3gb used. When I used ART it went up by 3.4gb. On ART
TO Those using ART Double check your settings
I'm pretty sure (well I think ). The settings under developer changed
Go settings
Click developer options
Scroll down
Now look for Windows animations
Animations.
And see are they 1x. ? ( I'm pretty sure when on dalvik these were off 0 I set them ). May have changed
Anyway. Now turn them all off. And do them to 0
Now my phone FLIES. ITS EVEN FASTER
I could be wrong sorry. But please doubled check and I just wanted to share sorry .
Thank you
When using dalvik the animation default is 1.0x

My opinion
Your not missing anything except a stupid useless animation transition
When u want to go on a app.
Ask yourself thus
Do you want it super fast? And to open quicker
Or do you want a small delay. And see a 'cool' transition
I love my speed! That's why NOW this phone is perfect and pumped
But that option could be set without even change to ART ...
In my tests I didn't notice any difference between ART and Dalvik for now =\
putting on 0 will disable the animation effects. Thats all.

Are you running KitKat? You have to tap something in the settings 7 times before you can unlock the developer options. I think it might have been the build number.

CYANOGEN13 Easter eggs

Hello guys, just discovered that when you tap Build date, it shows you some part of Marshmallow System UI tuner
Also other taps are like:
Tap android version
Tap Cyanogen version
Tap build number
If you find more of these then be sure to comment and tell us all
How good the is the ROM itself though? Is it stable?
