Hello devs and members,
I just bought Redmi 3s Prime and feeling sad to know the miui doesn't support NTFS file system of sd card or otg devices. Please tell me what to do? I tried Total Commander but I need use my inbuilt file manager.
I hope there is custom kernel who has support of NTFS. Please help me out for fixing this problem.

I never saw a kernel with support for NTFS devices.
I'd rather recommend formatting your SD card/flash drive with FAT32...

Lol we dont have original kernel sources yet and you are asking for custom kernel. Hold on bro. You can try formatting to exFAT though.
Just install Total commander and Paragon ums plugin to mount NTFS files...(you need to select Enable Write mode option in the ums plugin and then open the total commander from it).....no need to root.... enjoy

And when u insert the msd card, phone will ask u to format it. u have to format it in your phone.
Today i just download a file size of 4.7gb.and i am confused that fat32 and exfate both dont support large file then 4gb. if any one done that please confirm me.

Just an FYI post.
Sorry If this has been brought up before.
With the new ICS leaked kernal LP5, providing the USB OTG functionality, NTFS( Tested Myself) formatted FS can be mounted easily on our ICS builds with Drive Mount Thanks to Dwayne Hoy.
I have tested it with my 8GIGs flash drive and Externally powered IDE hard Drive.
It mounts it at mnt/sd1 folder.
Push Thanks If it helps you. And MODs plz delete this, If already brought up by anyone
Thank you

Yes Im affraid. Mounting NTFS or other non supported through that app requires root. Cuz it has tou run a script to edit system a bit.

You should go to mnt/sda1 to view your files. Not usbstorage if thats where youre looking..
And plz confirm if the mount is successful or not after you mount it through that app. It should show the drive space total and occupied.
About the fc Im not sure cuz Im on imilka's. Never faced any in that app. Maybe try to wipe that app's data..
Edit: When it mounts it also shows the place where it is mounted. Try to look at that place maybe you see your files there wherever it mounts the drive

Doesn't work for me! You might be wrong about NTFS support...
But my flash-memory card successfully work with this mod.
Edit: Tested again, and it works! Thanks!
Works awesomely on MIDNOTE 3.0 LP5
Finally got NTFS HDD working
Thank you so much!!!!

LP1 Kernel doesn't support USB-host at all!
anonymous572,
As active writer in the thread you quoted in post #8 (and eagerly waiting to move to ICS without losing my NTFS formatted card access), I did not exactly got what you wrote.
The presented procedure is intended for Gingerbread, not ICS. I wonder then what did you manage to get working on ICS using this process. Apart if the edit text explains that without applying the procedure, you managed, as said by dead-angel, using LP5 kernel NTFS support is native.
Can you be a bit more explicit?
Thanks.

actually LP5 kernals has the required drivers for USB Host mode (OTG) to work on ICS with LP5 kernal installed,
the NTFS support is just a modified script and driver to mount NTFS formatted card or whatever storage media..
That modified script to Initialize the NTFS driver is provided by the app Drive Mount (link in OP)
I hope you got the answer you were looking for.

Hi,
To quote from faux123:
NOTE: This kernel DOES NOT SUPPORT exFAT formatted 64 GB SDCards! In order to use 64 GB SDCards, you need to format it to NTFS, then use NTFSMount from Play Store to access your 64GB SDCard.
(This is due to LACK OF SOURCE CODE from Samsung/Microsoft for exFAT. Samsung licensed Microsoft's CLOSED SOURCE exFAT implementation. But Samsung under agreement with Microsoft DOES NOT release the source code and therefore we CANNOT build any support for exFAT formatted 64 GB SDCards )

Hy.
I have a 32GB NTFS SD Card and I installed the Paragon NTFS & HFS+ mounter. But it did not worked on my Samsung Galaxy S4 (4.2.2 android system). The program said it was successful but the phone said that I can remove the sd card safety. So what is the problem? How can I mount the NTFS SD Card on my SGS4?

There is nothing in usbdriveA. Maybe because it is not exist in the mnt folder. It's in the storage/usbdriveA but it contain nothing. You sure you have a 4.2.2 android system?
And if I have this problem, how can I fix it?

I try some programs, didnt work.
Try "USB OTG helper [root]" in market
This program work on my i9500 4.2.2 corectly
Do anybody have an idea to switch the microsd (extSdCard) and the sdcard/internal memory (sdcard0)?
I tried a lot
Root external 2 internal SD and the external2internalSD init.d script.
The app isnt workin, i have no idea how to configure, i tried it with all mountpoints..?
The script makes very crazy things. Either it doesnt work or the sdcard+extsdcard wont mount (sdcard on all mount points is just a file
with 0 bytes and the extsdcard mountpoints are empty folders).
Or the script (a modified note2 script) kills my installation, the phone boots but it says App was killed..
Please help, if anybody has an idea.
I will try anything, an other rom/kernel too.
My phone:
N9005 (32GB)
Stock ROM 4.4.2 with root
Sdcard is 64GB Sandisk exfat formated (179:64)
(Native language: german)
You need to be on a rom with init.d support and also use a kernel with init.d support, than go check out mattiadj Galaxy S4 thread with his ext2int sd mod. I use it on my tmobile note 3 with compulsion kernel and see my 128gb as my internal sd and 32gb as external now. Only his v6 .zip is compatible with kk 4.4.2 bootloader else you need to use his v8 4.3 .zip on the s3 forums.

Do i have to rewrite (make changes in the script)?
I installed omega rom with omega kernel (init.d is supported).
Then i installed the script (v6 for exfat kk), but the script do not mount the sdcard(s) right.
It only mounts the intsd into the intsd (sdcard0/intSdCard). (there are the folders "0" "legacy" and "obb")
The extSdCard is untouched.
Do u have an idea?
works
OK after i formated my SD-Card with Rufus 1.4.7 (no quickformat) works the script.

Awesome glad you got it to work, I like helping out on this thread because
1. I appreciate mattiadj making this app for all of us to use it free of charge.
2. I couldn't live without this mod anymore as I have way too many apps that have all those extra data/obb files that wouldn't fit on the internal memory and I know a lot of other people do too.
3. I enjoy helping out as much as I can in hopes that mattiadj will continue this mod in future android updates and I know he already gets hammered with a lot of questions.

cannot get to work, on n900w8
i have tried iton note 3 with stock 4.4.2 with complusion kernel, on wicked rom, on infamous rom with original kernel and with complusion.
this is how i tried first i format the 64gb sd card to exfat, then i install the rom and or kernel, then once the phone boots up i restart and install the extsd2internalsd_exfat_gs4_6_kk.zip. but when i restart it shows the same thing as before applying the mod.
can someone help me, or let me know what i am doing wrong, or if you have a certain rom kernel combo and which exfat version you used.

what did you format to fat32 or exfat? im having a hard time on this.
Alright im new here. (Hello) and i have kinda the opposite problem. My sd card died recently and with it a whole bunch of apps stopped working. Now if the situation was the apps were installed on the sd then duh no **** the apps are on there of course they'd stop working. But here's the thing. None of the apps were installed on the sd but are all on internal so im a bit pissed and confused as to why that would happen. All obb files and the latter are on the internal. Could someone please help me?
Can you tell me how to enable our mobile to recognize Ntfs formatted SD card. I need it because i want to download files size more than 4gb which we cannot download in FAT formated sd. I searched all places but cannot find the way which i can understand easily(since i am just nobo in such) . So if someone can tell us in process wise how to do it in our device. And i am using SM-G531F not rooted (now i got the reason to root my device). Thank you....Hope somebody can help me.
