Hi,
To quote from faux123:
NOTE: This kernel DOES NOT SUPPORT exFAT formatted 64 GB SDCards! In order to use 64 GB SDCards, you need to format it to NTFS, then use NTFSMount from Play Store to access your 64GB SDCard.
(This is due to LACK OF SOURCE CODE from Samsung/Microsoft for exFAT. Samsung licensed Microsoft's CLOSED SOURCE exFAT implementation. But Samsung under agreement with Microsoft DOES NOT release the source code and therefore we CANNOT build any support for exFAT formatted 64 GB SDCards )

I am rooted and use Paragon NTFS &HFS+ from the Play Store to display files on NTFS. Works quite well, actually.

[Q] Use NTFS sd card filesystem on EVO/supersonic?????

I have an 8gb sd card for my evo and i need to put a 5.2 gig movie on it. Is there any way i can convert the sd card so that i can put files on it that are larger than 4gb? I formated it to NTFS and the evo wouldn't recognize it. PLEASSEEEEE HELLPPPPPPPPP. THANKS!
Not gonna happen. I don't believe Android has any NTFS support at this time and they probably aren't really looking in to it.
It does.
But fat32 is faster.
I'll test it out, but chances are I'm wasting my time.

whenever I formated my card to NTFS and put it in my phone it never would recognize it, and wouldn't let me mount it till I formated it back to fat32.
i know it supports ext file systems but i don't know if those are only mounted as apps2sd or if it can be mounted as the main partition for everything
but if ntfs doesn't work it's worth a shot
edit: ext driver for windows http://www.fs-driver.org/
personally i would suggest one of the following options
option 2 compress the video so it is below the 4gb cap (1 file lower quality)
option 3 split it into 2 parts 4gb +1.2gb parts (would maintain full quality but would have 2 files)
i'm assuming your using windows (because u want ntfs) so i cant help with finding apps for compressing or splitting as i use mac but few min of google search should turn up an answer
you need a custom kernel with ntfs built in, or it wont work
none exist as of now, because its not worth the time

Are there any ideas on how to compile a custom kernel with NTFS support?
Wait, why can't you put a file higher than 4GB on FAT32? I've return that I've had isos bigger than that on my flash drives.

your flash drive probably is ntfs or if mac hfs+
fat32 has a file maximum of 4gb no clue as to why but i do know it is there
good example is the ps3 only supports fat32 so games with files above 4gb are split into smaller sizes and cant be played off of external till parts are rejoined together on internal HDD or compressed to smaller sizes

fat32 probably uses 32-bit addressing which allows up to 4gb to be accessible per file. Just like you can't recognize memory over 4gb on a 32-bit OS.
what about ext4 or 3 it supports lfs. 16gb files or some ****
And there are already ways to create an ext4 or ext3 partition on your sd card, doesn't aman ra do that? or sdpart or something. I dont remember I've never needed apps2sd or anything like that. I have such few apps. But I'm pretty sure that'll be the way to go since it is recognized so easily by linux anways.
I'm sure the OP just said NTFS because it is what he is familiar with, not because he actually wanted to use NTFS for any particular reason.
Afaik, no. Recompress the movie. Or just split it.

windows saying sd card is full

Basically i'm trying to copy a 4gig video file over to my sdcard, but when i do it is telling me there is not enough space.
in my computer it is showing up with 9 gigs free.
Anyone encountered this?
is it fat32 or ntfs if it's fat32 make it ntfs that's what i do for mine

its fat 32, do i have to format it ? Or is there a way to convert it
edit
never mind think i got it, ran a convert drive letter: /fs:ntfs.
will report when its done to see if it worked
edit2
Worked cheers dude
Yeah, fat32 only supports up to 4gb files if it's bigger by anything it won't copy over. Looks like you got it figured out though.

Just to let anyone else know, android don't support ntfs, so if you convert it, you will have to format to get fat32 back

NTFS Formatted HDD and Flash drive or cards via card reader Easily mountable on ICS

Just an FYI post.
Sorry If this has been brought up before.
With the new ICS leaked kernal LP5, providing the USB OTG functionality, NTFS( Tested Myself) formatted FS can be mounted easily on our ICS builds with Drive Mount Thanks to Dwayne Hoy.
I have tested it with my 8GIGs flash drive and Externally powered IDE hard Drive.
It mounts it at mnt/sd1 folder.
Push Thanks If it helps you. And MODs plz delete this, If already brought up by anyone
Thank you
Oh? Then I can soon format my SD card to NTFS

Yes Im affraid. Mounting NTFS or other non supported through that app requires root. Cuz it has tou run a script to edit system a bit.

You should go to mnt/sda1 to view your files. Not usbstorage if thats where youre looking..
And plz confirm if the mount is successful or not after you mount it through that app. It should show the drive space total and occupied.
About the fc Im not sure cuz Im on imilka's. Never faced any in that app. Maybe try to wipe that app's data..
Edit: When it mounts it also shows the place where it is mounted. Try to look at that place maybe you see your files there wherever it mounts the drive

Doesn't work for me! You might be wrong about NTFS support...
But my flash-memory card successfully work with this mod.
Edit: Tested again, and it works! Thanks!
Works awesomely on MIDNOTE 3.0 LP5
Finally got NTFS HDD working
Thank you so much!!!!

LP1 Kernel doesn't support USB-host at all!
anonymous572,
As active writer in the thread you quoted in post #8 (and eagerly waiting to move to ICS without losing my NTFS formatted card access), I did not exactly got what you wrote.
The presented procedure is intended for Gingerbread, not ICS. I wonder then what did you manage to get working on ICS using this process. Apart if the edit text explains that without applying the procedure, you managed, as said by dead-angel, using LP5 kernel NTFS support is native.
Can you be a bit more explicit?
Thanks.

actually LP5 kernals has the required drivers for USB Host mode (OTG) to work on ICS with LP5 kernal installed,
the NTFS support is just a modified script and driver to mount NTFS formatted card or whatever storage media..
That modified script to Initialize the NTFS driver is provided by the app Drive Mount (link in OP)
I hope you got the answer you were looking for.

Problem with Paragon mounter

Hy.
I have a 32GB NTFS SD Card and I installed the Paragon NTFS & HFS+ mounter. But it did not worked on my Samsung Galaxy S4 (4.2.2 android system). The program said it was successful but the phone said that I can remove the sd card safety. So what is the problem? How can I mount the NTFS SD Card on my SGS4?
Somebody?

There is nothing in usbdriveA. Maybe because it is not exist in the mnt folder. It's in the storage/usbdriveA but it contain nothing. You sure you have a 4.2.2 android system?
And if I have this problem, how can I fix it?

Because FAT have a file size limit which is 4 GB. And a 1080p Blu-Ray movie is not 4GB.

Using exFAT on Stock 10.4.B.0.569 without mod at all.

Hello all.
Just got a class 10 MicroSD XC 64GB fot my Xperia Z C6603 and saw many post about exFAT not supported. Luckily, mine works with no fuss at all. So I'll post it for reference as I didn't see anyone mention this.
- First of all, I format the card with SD Formatter 4.0 from SD Association itself. Set it to exFAT. Should be done quick.
- Then I replace my old 8GB with this 64 GB(59 GB actually...) and start with SETTINGS > STORAGE > TRANSFER DATA TO SD CARD to test if it can write, and yes, it just work.
- Then I set USB Connectivity to MSC mode and plug into my PC. Windows Explorer says it's exFAT. So I put an 12 GB movie file in. It just work. Play in MX Player with no fuss at all.
Wish this useful and happy new year!
As far as I know, exfat has been supported since 4.2.2 on our device.

Oops... My bad.
My xz cannot mount 64gb sandisk exfat format. When im insert the sd,it say sdcard removes insert new. Im on stock 4.3 rom with alnikki v19 kernel. Any help?
Sory for my bad english.still learning.
Stock kernel supports exfat filesystem out-of-the-box (on stock unrooted ROMs). Maybe your custom kernel doesn't have exfat support. Go back to stock kernel and you'll find your card is mounted and readable.
Dead Cookies leave no trails...
will try to flash back stock kernel. thanks for your help.
