That is true. You can hover do long tapping. So you got short and long tapping. Without physical pressing

The easy home app. Offers the function of long tape kg and short tapping. This doesn't offer double tapping. But you can set up short tapping. as a shortcut. And long tapping as a different one

How do you remove this from home screen?
It's a widget. Just press and hold on it and then drag it to the X at the top of the screen.

Also Power + Home, Vol + Home.

i'm surprised it's crazy dropdown bar full of shiz doesn't have a screenshot option....that's the one thing that could've been useful in there lol

Actually if you just save a quickmemo without scribbling something you get a screenshot.
Above poster is right... Its power + vol down and very awkward.

ah duh! good tip!!
right, taught of that.
But i've needed to take screenshot of the notifications and pressing the quickmemo/home slide exit the notification
bummer
I took a screenshot using Quick Memo and it DID include the notification bar. Did I understand the issue correctly?
I used the Home-button-drag (to the right).
Is there a way or app to turn on screen without using home or power button?

The app below has plenty of options for using the phones motion sensors.

If your rooted and depending what version of the phone you have custom kernels allow this if it has feature. For example KT Kernel has swipe to wake.

In play store you have a app for that.
Search for "Galaxy Button Lights" in Playstore, works for me...
I'm able to turn them off by going to settings/device/display/touch key light duration and selecting always off. I have the SM-G928A.

Hi all,
first post here.
I recently purchased the Galaxy S8 - love it!
A friend told me that using the power button regularly will damage the button. Is this true?
the friend also recommended using a Screen Lock/ Off app to use this (similar to the iOS quick ball)
Any thoughts?
How would regular use damage it? If you're skeptical, use the fingerprint unlock feature.

Thanks for the reply. Exactly my point. Samsung would make these buttons with a very good usability time span right?

And to lock? the power button?
It's a little finicky compared to the iPhones... The buttons are bigger and more clicky on the iPhones. Can't really fault the galaxy though since that edge screen use up half of the side bezel.
The power button is there for a reason. Use it.
Don't be silly, no it won't break...
Thanks all for the help

30 seconds for timeout is the setting I use....no power button push to lock required!

or just search and install Softkey Edge from Galaxy App and use it from edge side.
