Android 7.1 developer preview has been released for our device post your experience below
Update: Android 7.1.1 DP2 has been released
Bought my pixel c last week, trying out the dev preview.. works great so far. Running totally stock at the moment obviously not rooted or unlocked. Installed seemlessly and it absorbed my current setup with no problems. Battery seems to last much better than my previous device - asus tf300.

The only problem I have so far is it seems to loose WiFi.
You have to reboot, then it reconnects no issue.
Not seeing a big difference 7.0 to 7.1.1 and this WiFi thing is very annoying.
The other thing that is annoying Google sells 3 products under the Pixel name.
Pixel/Pixel XL get the Pixel Launcher.
Pixel C (still a current product) no Pixel Launcher. I

I'm running the 7.1.1 dev preview, and installed the Pixel launcher and the Pixel (circular) icons pack. Only a few (at best) icons are circular now, though -- Calendar is the only one that comes to mind. This is the pack that became available ~Oct. 19. Anyone have any idea how to get ALL of the icons circular, as they are on my Pixel XL?
Also, the launcher's G search button and weather/date quasi-widget is about 1/4 down from the top of the screen, and is not at the top as it is on my Pixel XL. There's just a bunch of dead blank space above it. I'm wondering if this will eventually be fixed for the Pixel C, or if it's going to be something like the gigantic hunk of dead space that was below the stock digital clock on the home screen of my Nexus 10.
FWIW, no wifi disconnect issues on 7.1.1, but I had none before for that matter. And I've never disabled location or bluetooth scanning.

I have been using the Moto X PE for three weeks now. I have the 16GB version from Amazon. I got this phone after getting a refund from a Nexus 6 that had a pink tint on the screen. However, this phone also seems to have some issues. When I close recent apps one by one, it shows extreme lag. When I change the brightness to max I can see a series of lines going down the screen. A lot of times apps randomly shut down, but that might just be poor coding. The screen is also a little bit yellow but I heard it is normal. Also, I can spot random black lines on the edges of the screen when using Google Chrome. Sometimes I can even see small parts of picture on the side of the screen as I browse the web. Is anybody having similar issues? I was thinking of getting a refund and buying the 32GB version and maybe that would fix these issues. Or maybe the Marshmallow update will fix these issues? I am even thinking of getting the Nexus 6P if I have to keep dealing with these issues.
Tbh, I also have noticed a few of these. The lag in the recent, yep, haven't noticed the issue at max brightness, no yellow, and I think I have noticed once where I could see a small part of picture on the very edge of the screen, can't remember if it was in chrome or not... I prob won't t return it tho. With the selection of phones available right now, I'll keep this. I love nexus phones but don't want either the 5x or 6p. Wont own a one plus phone. Note 5 is great, touchwiz is trash.. I'll just hope MM improves things. I seen it was announced some devices are getting the update so we will see. I know there are some probs but when u consider everything, this phone for the price is really good. I'm keeping it.

I love my Moto X PE, I'm starting to find easy fixes to some of the issues. There's an app called "Screen Balance" that fixed my yellow tint. I will wait for the Marshmallow Update to see if everything else is fixed.
Cool. I did update to mm(rooted) and the recents lag is 100% fixes. I did recently experience the series of lines going down the screen, they were white, Kinda blurred the whole screen, but it was just the one time, a reboot fixed it and hasn't happened since. Also haven't experienced the problems people have had with notifications sounds. I have had the cracking or poping of the speakers, but seems MM also fixed that. Things are much better imo, hbu? Have you upgraded to mm?
Also are u rooted? I just assume bec we are on xda that every roots their phone but I guess not.

Glad to hear that Marshmallow Update will fix these issues. I'm currently returning my Moto X PE 16 GB for a 32 GB that's on discount on Amazon for $50. I'm not rooted because I already enjoy the stock Android experience.

I use screen balance too but i think turning off adaptive brightness itself improves the yellow tint thing.. it doesn't sound logical but seemed to work for me recently..
Seems 7.1.2 is starting to rollout to some Pixel C owners according to 9to5Goolge, not got it myself yet, anyone grab the OTA if they get it?
https://9to5google.com/2017/04/02/android-7-1-2-pixel-c-update/
Just got it . Over in Houston Texas for region questioning. 11:45pm. How do grab and share it?

Got the update in the UK yesterday and another bonus is I now also get the cool pixel live wallpapers that I have on my Pixel XL.
One more minor change I've noticed since getting 7.1.2 is that wallpapers now appear slightly darker when you set them than before. That's a good thing I think as previously maybe 60%of all Google's default wallpapers were so light that they didn't contrast well with the app icons and you often couldn't read the app icon labels. This had been the case going back multiple android versions on previous devices. Seems like Google have finally addressed it, well at least on the Pixel C.
Yup, just got it here in UK also. Dunno whether I like it yet? Wasn't offered. Had to check manually.
Full OTA images are up for anyone who doesn't want to wait ...

Or flash the factory image (after removing the -w from the bat file first of all) which is what I did, working fine here

I was having the same issue so I left the beta program, which downgraded the Pixel C. When I was back on 7.1.1 I was then offered the update.

Got the updates to patch my beta to mainstream but comes with a unique bug; gboard has no spacebar. I've tried force closing and also restarting the tablet. Very strange issue...other keyboards work fine.
Edit, changed the theme and that's fixed it. So weird!

Me too
Has anyone else noticed slow charging since the update to 7.1.2? I've just unplugged mine after an hour on the standard charger and the increase was only about 15%?!
Only got the update yesterday so first charge since...mostly looks good but fast charging is an essential for me, so hopefully if there's a bug affecting fast rapid charging it's fixed soon!

Nope, then again, I use an Anker charge box & lead, and never used stock charger etc., blisteringly fast as normal, always has been, since 7.0.0.
7.1.2 seems to have slowed my pixel c down to a snails pace. Have just factory reset, but still seems slow. For example swiping left on the home screen to get to Google now used to be smooth, but is now jerky. Anyone else experiencing this?

Not to the extent that you mention. But app loading and Chrome web page loading does feel slower.
Have been playing around and seems worse if the screen size is set to small (which is what i generally use on my pixel c and Nexus 6p). Setting back to default size makes the performance better, but still doesn't feel as smooth as it should on a device like this.
@narse,
FWIW: I just rebooted my router, and my issues are solved.
Hey guys!
Title says it all. Got brand a new device last month (build date 11/1/2017), which started to decrease in overall performance after some weeks, meaning snappiness is gone, ui experience doesnt feel as smooth as it used to.
Nothing helps, already full wiped. Clean flashed android 9.0. Apps arent the source, since it's right there after a full wipe with just the standard apps.
Only factor seems to be "time". Since I am not the only one with that problem (see marques here://youtu.be/5_5zZnuB71w), I wonder who can relate and found the culprit.
Thanks!
I will not say I did not notice performance issues. But clearing of apps definitely did help. Also with the latest Android pie update it is back to its original smooth performance.

already did that, before full wiping. since the latter didnt help, it didnt help either.
I can't say I've ever experienced lag on my pixel 2 xl. It's been going so strong since a few months ago when I got it. With pie it feels like it just got smoother and looks like it's actually holding animations at 60fps no frame drops it's very nice
I can count on one hand the number of times I've observed noticeable lag/jankiness on my P2XL, and it almost always happens when I try to do too much after rebooting, before the system has settled. On prior Android devices, I would routinely clear the background apps, but my P2XL doesn't seem to require that. It runs just fine without me micromanaging it. I *do* use SD Maid (in Google Play) about once a week, so that probably helps. I also use Nova Launcher because I can't get used to the stock launcher. And I reduce all animations to 0.5x (Settings > Dev options).
Mine is definitely not sluggish at all. Snappy as ever, and nicer now with Pie.
yea first pixel 2 xl i got (this one is a replacement) seemed to get a little less snappier from time to time, but always got back on track. so i know the real fluid and lagfree pixel experience.
but as this case (and the yt video) shows, it can go another route, too. question is, is it just a hardware thing?

Highly doubt it's a "hardware thing" Snapdragon 835 is s great SoC, your lag could be due to a few things, number of apps installed, modifications to the system (ie magisk, Xposed, kernel, etc) rogue apps. I've had no issues with slowdowns or lag, no sure if you're stock or not but I run AquriOS with Flash kernel and magisk root, and everything runs flawlessly.

Re reading your original post, it's either a hardware malfunction or you are getting used to the"snappiness" of the device and you are feeling it's not fast enough. TBH my device runs as nicely as it did they say I got it.

could it be a hardware malfunction if the benchmarks all perform as expected?
i sure didn't get used to it, since i had my original pixel 2 xl (this one is a replacement) for more like half a year without feeling less snappiness

you mean i watched a yt video and then got the idea that my phone is slow? oh boi..
There's plenty of people complaining on the same issue in the comments. Makes me concerned. So far i didn't experience any sluggishness on my device. Today i feel very happy about my choice for phone, because i got an opportunity to spend minutes with Note 9 and oh boy, do i not miss Samsung... That's like getting back to Nexus 6... Crazy.
Official Pie has been running smoother than DP2 through DP5 for me. No complaints here. Still wish RAM management was better but that's been on the aggressive side since day 1.
Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
MKBHD is not lying when he said the oneplus 6 is smoother. Anandtech which is a reputable source confirms that the OnePlus 6 is smoother and faster than any phone on the market. The 2nd fastest phone is not the pixel, it's the xiaomi mi mix 2s.
The issue I have is my phone works prefect and then will just stutter...like lag and almost freeze up for a moment. Resetting doesn't fix.
Been having issues as well last month. Started fresh and wiped with pie and still lags. Not sure what's happening. Cannot figure it out. No rogue apps. Haven't installed a new app in weeks.
The phone just hangs more often now. Never had this issue since I got the phone around December.

Yep, I'm disappointed too. Two things are changed for me.
1. I get again "hint" for the new assitant guesture on the corner of the screen every time I lift the phone or unlock.
2. I use Pixel3 and 4 wallpapers. Until the todays update the Wallpapers was not moving too much unless I swipe the screen. Now The wallpapers moving much more as I move the phone. The "Bird's-eye view Zion National Park" now moving in every direction. (maybe it was broken only for me as it was not moving with the Gyro sensor)

Thanks for letting us know the changes. I had weird issues at times with back gestures. It used to get hanged and i was unable to use the swipe to home gesture. Hope it is resolved but i really doubt so looking at the size of the update. I think we might get a good update on Christmas. That's my only hope

Hello, I've been on the fence for a very long time with getting a OnePlus device. I was finally ALMOST ready to buy the 8 pro but the curved screen kept me away. I've always stuck with the pixel and have had no problems with them besides the terrible screen restate. I really wanted to buy the 8T pro until I saw what they did to the UI in os 11. I really don't care for Samsung at all. Will OnePlus still be the ultimate stock Android ? Is the core OnePlus community happy with os 11 UI overhaul at all?
If I had known coming from a Pixel 2xl, I would have waited. Not happy with it at all.
Hardware is nice for sure, but camera software is subpar imo and poor 5ghz wifi has me puzzled still.
That said I would get a OnePlus over anything else... Maybe just not a good pixel phone.

So how do you feel about the new UI ? It's so close to samsung now ?
Not concerned until I have the official stock ota on my 8pro to do hands-on!
Don't be worried about the UI. I'd people complain they'll change it, some respect the same from Samsung.
Plus with the development in XDA and the like you can rest assured that other ROMs will be available.
Bare in mind this move from OnePlus is to steal Samsung customers, they've already done that Vs the ultra, I'm one of them.
Thank God I didn't buy the ultra (ordered but it didn't come, Exynos is a turd)
Paranoid Android, carbon ROM, lineage, several Magisk ROMs,, there's even miui and Nubia lol,, don't worry about the new 11, plus things can still change, I'm sure anyone helping with the alpha and beta versions are reporting that.
I'm remaining optimistic about 11, might be alone in that but what else can I do?
At this point in time and since it's launch, there is no better phone than the 8 pro, installed a GCam app today and that's pretty much sorted the camera for me, wasn't bad to begin with
Never cared for Samsungs One UI, preferred Cyanogen/LinageOS any day on any Samsung (as long as it was a device where the correct RIL was anailavle, for obvious reasons). On all Samsungs, and OnePluses I've had I've pretty much always used Nova Launcher (as I would on any Pixel too). So, the only place where I actually notice any OEM UI:s is on the settings page... And ind the case of OP8 A11 (as I'm currently using as daily driver), I actually kind of like it. It's smooth, easy. Especially in dark mode (I always use dark mode). I'm all for it. I like the fact that OP does this instead och forcing a bunch of apps on us (Samsung-style) and weird framework changes. This is no reason to "not get a OP device" if you ask me.
