Did you buy it used? Look in settings-about phone and look at the "Software Channel" and it says amz then it's an Amazon model. If you purchased it used then it's possible that someone flashed a factory rom to remove the ads and then the Amazon update bricked the phone.

bought it used

On that screen do you see a warning at the bottom of the screen about trying to flash unauthorized software?

that sounds like its at the factory recovery screen. Hold the power button, tap the volume up once, and then release the power button. that should get you into the recovery. (then do a factory reset) But most likely someone flashed a old image onto a locked amazon phone. and really the only way to fix it is to send it back to moto to be reflashed.

Below is a good video from RootJunky that shows how to restore factory rom. If you click More info below the video there are links to whatever you need to flash. There are a lot of restore factory rom threads scattered around the XDA G4 forums also.

Desperately need cwm touch screenshots

Hey guys,
Just had the fantastic AMOLED breaking symptom of the Galaxy S4. I need to restore to factory TouchWiz so I can go in and get a replacement phone (I had rooted and flashed stock Android and am afraid they'll figure this out and refuse to give me a new phone despite the physical damage) so I desperately need screenshots/photos of the CWM Touch 6.0.3.2 options to restore a backup (the only one I have on the phone).
If there's any other way to do this please let me know.
Beyond that, since the screen appears to be getting progressively worse to the point where I just can't install anything, is there any way I can remove any evidence of root/flashing from the file system just in case?
Please help!
Thank you!

Honestly I'm even having trouble booting into recovery mode because I can't tell when the prompts are to let go of the power button, etc. Can't see a thing.
Any advice?
The wireless company has already agreed to ship me a new device and a return label with which I can return the old one (so I'll get my new phone before having to return the old one) but I still want to do this out of safety and respect.
Hate to be the one to tell u but as far as i know (anyone correct me if im wrong) everytime u flash a rom (dont know if rooting counts) its recorded on ur phone.u can undo this with triangle away, wich can be found at the same site where autoroot is.

Well, they're sending me the new one before taking the old one back, so I think it'll be okay. Plus they're mostly concerned with the broken screen; it's not a bricked device.

[HOW-TO] How to flash a factory image / return to stock / unlock / root #
It includes steps to fix the half storage issue.
If you want to check immediately before doing the above walkthrough, power off your phone completely, hold the volume down button and power on your phone to get into the bootloader. At the bottom of the screen, next to"Variant", you should see either "mako 8GB" or "mako 16GB". That tells you the storage size in the phone. In your case, it should say "mako 16GB."

You could try using wugfresh's toolkit to install the factory rom.
That's about as simple as it gets.
If you can't do it using the toolkit, then bring it to someone/some place that can flash it for you.
I would do it if I lived near you. The hardest part is the computer setup, imo, just getting the proper drivers installed but even that is fairly easy to do using the toolkit.
Good luck.
Can you just return to ebay seller? It's not as described and you paid for 16gb without this additional work. Possibly it's a listing error and actually is a 8gb?

How can I downgrade by 1 version?

Hi.
I've just updated to version 5.0 and though in general the interface does look better. I'm not liking it. Pet hates are the way you cant see what the notification is or says unless you go past the lock screen and onto the home screen. And also my battery is now lasting a full day at work where before it would last me all day easily. How can I revert back one update?

Nope.
Do a factory reset from stock recovery (you must pull off battery).
VOL+ and HOME and Power buttons together to enter.

Yea, you need to pull the battery / boot to recovery > factory reset, happens to a lot of people after flashing with ODIN
"1)Start phone in download mode
2)Flash KK firmware.
3)Your phone will not start normally either. Bootloop guaranted. Don't worry.
4)Remove battery and put in again.
5)Do a factory reset from STOCK recovery
6)Flash again KK firmware
7)Phone will start normally, you can start customization and other stuff like rooting or daily using."

Black screen after Samsung galaxy s5 logo.

I have a verizon galaxy s5 I rooted it with the help and guidance from xda members over here. The method I used to root my phone was this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/veri...volte-t2879348 since i was already on NI2 I skipped steps 1. to 2.5 post rooting my phone everything was running pretty good for a few days without any issues but less than a day after I inserted a sim card in the phone it started randomly restarting so did a data wipe factory reset but the problem still persisted where my phone would would either randomly restart or go into a boot loop then I got the G900VVRU1ANI2_G900VVZW1ANI2_G900VVRU1ANI2_HOME.zip stock retail tar from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...42&postcount=1 and used ODIN to flash it but strangely even after I flashed the stock firmware it gave me the UNLOCKED logo at start below the Samsung galaxy S5 logo so I did another data wipe factory reset and now the UNLOCKED logo has gone but I'm getting a black screen after the Samsung galaxy logo. I can enter recovery mode and download mode my phone also gets detected in kies even with black screen.
I'm pretty freaked out and devastated right now because of the suddenness of this problem. I hope someone knows how to fix this issue.
Sorry for the long post but I wanted to be as detailed as possible.

OK I so I flashed this https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23610159112652178 through ODIN as you said and now I am getting display after the Samsung galaxy s5 logo all the way to the main screen and although I was hoping that this would fix everything I was also kinda prepared if it didn't. So here are the issues I'm having now, the display is a little glitchy after the complete bootup and even a couple times in the recovery menu the phone is also rebooting automatically after it goes to sleep or if I press the power button to turn of the display and it then blacks out and reboots.
Thanks again for your help so far.

Did you buy it from Verizon? There should be a warranty of some sort from Samsung.
Also, does this problem persist even without the sim card?

So if I manage to get the receipt of the phone and it happens to be in warranty and I take it to a local samsung store do you think they will accept it even though it wasn't bought in USA?
Also do you think its a hardware issue or just a software issue as I have no display issues or any kind of other malfunctions when I'm in Download Mode.

Unknown about warranty but worth a try. I am assuming you are still stock NGC from your last flash. Maybe trying the latest lollipop would help. You need to root again. You can always go back to stock if it doesn't.

If your device is in the state described in this post, it is likely dead. You need to RMA your device.
Otherwise if your issue is different, answer a few questions to help diagnose the issue:
What happened..?
What did you try to fix it?
What build are you currently on?
Is your bootloader unlocked?
Do you have access to recovery yet?
Good luck...
If you aren't in a boot loop of death you should be able to fix your phone by doing a factory reset. Power down your phone by holding down the power button. Go into the bootloader menu by pressing power and volume down at the same time. Use the volume keys to find the factory reset option and select it. Good luck. I'm pretty sure all of these phones will permanently boot loop at some point because there is a serious design flaw, probably with solder that can't withstand the heat the phone generates like on the LG phones. Hopefully your 6P isn't there yet but flashing an OTA frequently triggers it.

What did you try to fix it? - Unlock bootloader
What build are you currently on? - What ?
Is your bootloader unlocked? - Open Bootloader
Do you have access to recovery yet ? - Still working normally

Hello... Did it start bootlooping after a 7.1.1 OTA? So you unlocked your.bootloader? If yes, it wiped all your data... And now your phone still bootloop right?
Then reboot into recovery, press power and tap volume up when you see the Android guy laying.
From the menu, select factory reset. Try to reboot and see.if that helps.
If it still doesn't work, try to flash a stock firmware from here: https://developers.google.com/android/images#angler
And extract the zip a d open the folder
Reboot into bootloader. From here, openn the flash-all.bat and let it install the new firmware. It will reboot when it's done flashing.
Hopefully a factory reset will suffice to solve the issue. Let us know if it works... :good:
Good luck...

Hey...
What failure?
Where did it fail?
What are the messages you get?
Please, try to be a bit more explicit and give more details about what happens... "Failure" doesn't mean much to me.
The more details you give, the more we might be able to help you..! :good:

Are you sure you still have recovery access?
What factory image did you flash? 7.1.2 april?
Try flashing this one with flash-all.bat: https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/marlin-nof27b-factory-2259c206.zip
Once done, give the some time to boot into system.
Good luck...

Hello...
Sorry to read that. Only way now seems to have your phone repaired. I don't know if you're still covered, but don't let Google or Huawei charge you if your warranty is already ended. The issue is well known and you shouldn't pay for their mistakes!
If you don't get a positive answer from the first person, tell him/her you are going to think about it and end the call. Call back one or two days later. You'll likely speak to another tech. Retry as much as needed. A lot of people who insisted have had their phone repaired/replaced for free that way. Try escalating the case to a supervisor if needed. Don't give up until you succeed, because that's all they are waiting for!
Sorry again, good luck...
My phone is out of warranty
I buy in portable form

Damn it...
I've seen someone saying some people send their device in China to have their SOC/processor replaced. You know those are soldered on the motherboard right? Unless you have the right equipments, it's really unlikely.
Good luck...
