Knox Trip Performance Difference - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

I'm planning to root my S7E to take advantage of this Xposed Framework but have plans to revert back to stock unmodified rom just in case. As far as I understand, once I root my unit I'll get a tripped knox indicator permanently. Assuming I revert back to stock unmodified rom, what unit performance difference does it have aside from the 0 changing to 1 in the knox indicator? Willy unit be slower with the knox tripped indicator?
Thanks for the help

Nope, tripping KNOX doesn't affect the performance of your phone.

After rooting I noticed a decrease in my SOT. I was getting 4.5 hours before rooting and now I am getting 3-3.5 hrs max. Not sure if there's a relation.

my phone hase knox tripped and i get on 3g constant use for chrome and some games and facebook and other apps i get at least 6 hours sot.
if i activate power saving and use wifi sometimes i get 7h and 30m sot.
i have no root

Maybe you have installed an application that's not optimized after root?

Note3 8hr battery life

Note3 running Beans stock 4.2.2 rom. I've removed/disabled a lot of the system apps/bloatware and run a couple xposed mods (in pic below). Phone was half on wifi half on good 4G; also in good service areas entire time. GPS off, automatic brightness. I only get 4hrs of screen time and total running time is approx 8hrs with 15% left. I think this is quite low for a 3200mah battery. Anyone give me any suggestions to prolong the battery?..or reasons why I can't seem to go a full day?
...I posted this because my bro has stock nonrooted S5 with high brightness on whole day and can easily go 1.5 days with same on screen time so I was lil disappointed in my note.
Thanks ahead of time for any help!

you have something keeping the phone awake or chewing the battery...most note 3 get about 15-25 hours per charge... i keep my brightness fixed at about 25% i have greenify now it seemed to help.
How do I check what it is? I'm not sure what it could be but know that 15% with 8 hr total battery time and 4 hr screen time that it's a little under what I expect out of a note3.

solution to low battery life
It doesnt seem to be a problem since my old note 3 had the same battery life.
A tip ill give u is to try to turn off the wifi every while...
And also try to use this app: screen filter
It reduces battery life by lowering the brightness.

I have similar issues however I get a little better battery life as I have basically turned off every good option on this phone in order to make it last . Ive concluded that this phone has terrible battery life due to Android 4.3 and higher sucking up the battery unnecessarily .. the background processes are endless and truly destroy the daily longevity and options of this phone. Take a look at the Note 2, same battery, different operating system and more or less same hardware and out of the box the note 2 lasts WAY longer than the note 3 (at least from my own personal experience). Frankily, if it was possible, I would love to downgrade to 4.2 (or 4.1.x) to see how significant of a change the battery life would be. Thats my 2 cents

Retail Verizon Note 3
running Hyperdrive 8 with patches to fix settings ask
stock kernel as I don't have a dev unit
and it is used moderate to heavy with video streaming to my Chrome cast.
I use greenify and es task manager to disable auto starting programs. I see many more reports of other people getting 20 hours with 4 hours screen time.
and it doesn't really matter but could cpu scheduler is ondemand with i/o being row

that just adds more evidence to my theory... the android 4.3 OS is a battery sucking operating system when it doesn't really need to be.
I never had a problem with 4.3. I was running hyperdrive 4.3 with greenify, v6 supercharger, and a crap storm of other tweaks and xposed mods and with very little usage (didn't take a screenshot of screen on time) I was at 5 days 13 hours 43 min with 6% battery left. I tried to update to hyperdrive kit kat and had nothing but problems so I flashed stock nc2, upgraded to nc4 modem and have spent the last week (couple hours a night) modifying and tweaking. I'm currently at 1 day 20 hours 13 min with 4 hrs 15 min screen on time and I have 19% battery left. I would probably be closer to 25%-30+% but last night I decided to go all out with the cpu control and run antutu benchmark twice to test different I/o schedulers.

So do you think with a custom ROM instead of being on stock 4.2.2 will help me get more outta the battery?

Probably the first step would get better battery stats and find out what is draining your battery. Freezing app apps won't do much to save battery if your not freezing the ones draining battery. Also look into greenify you can hibernate apps that you need installed and to run frequently but can put them to sleep when you don't need them
Also I got rid of V6 and decided to do min free and kernel tweaks manually with Rom toolbox pro. Not sure if a fluke but currently I've had 2 hours of screen on time and only dropped 20%. That's as much a 10 hours screen on time on a single charge.

Did you flash to stick slot and flash nc2 before flashing hyperdrive or were your issues some menus did not work if so those have been patched and everything works now.
I had wakelocks that lagged my phone (500k+ in twelve hours) and ran the batter almost dead in that time. Yea I flashed nc2 upgraded to rsl8 and updated the modems. Just didn't feel like trouble shooting anymore and with xposed I can have everything I want and biting I don't

Why my SOT is so low?

I can hardly get 4.5-5 hours of SOT, some members can get up to 6 hours of SOC...
The phone has the lastest stock rom update with xposed and root...
Can someone help me?
I have the N910F (International).
android has something which is keeping it awake. probably xposed.
Another user whining about 4 hrs of SOT when a lot of people (including me) are barely getting to 3 hrs with all the possible tweaks already done. Honestly, I don't think you'll find any luck here man, just be happy with what you have - and those 4 hrs are not that bad as you think.
S-Health makes a massive hit to battery life. I gained over an hour screen on time with that disabled. I also believe auto brightness makes a big difference to battery life so I set it to manual low brightness. I also turn off all sensor stuff like smart stay and settings that dynamically alter brightness. I also got rid of adaptive display.
5-6 hours screen on is easily doable for me if i'm not playing games.
Cough removable battery cough

I am pretty shocked at the battery life and sot 16 hours with 4 hours sot my oneplus one could do 25 -30 hours with 6-7 sot im on the 910f altho that was rooted using greenify my note is fully stock with a few disabled apps

Battery life after root?

I have rooted my phone yesterday and has since then installed Amplify, Greenify, Servicely, Coolify, and Titanium backup to disable all that is considered as "bloatware" by Package Disabled Pro (which the app itself does not function on rooted devices). I can't say for sure my SOTs yet, but battery seems to be draining pretty fast for me and it heats up faster than normal when on stock. And I also did flash the fix zip for all the bugs after root.
How are all of you all phones after root and what other adjustments have any of you done?
Just an update for leaving my fully charged phone unplugged overnight, I lost 4% at a rate of 0.7% an hour over nearly 6 hours. Checked Gsam stats and I saw phone signal was using 80 something percent of the power.

I experienced the same, higher battery consumption, slower phone and it heats up pretty quickly even just being in one app for longer than 5 mins. I tried the interactive kernel and still the same. Also I had greenify, forcedoze, naptime, Amplify you name it and the phone would not enter that "doze" mode it was supposed to, something in the background was not letting the phone sleep. Also something that bothered me a lot was the lag. I haven't been able to get at least 3 hrs SOT, before root with greenify I was able to do 4.5-5 hrs SOT with normal usage. I am seriously thinking to reverting back to stock.

Aha, that sounds about right. I'm at 51% right now and it's only 2 hours of SOT. Although that's mostly because of a lot of overheating here in Orlando and playing Pokemon Go, I still see pretty fast drainage from just using any one app too.
I just flashed and 935 U and rooted the night before last,so I haven't had much time on it yet, but mine has been much better. I was about to send my phone in to have the battery replaced because I could hardly get 2 or 3hrs of sot on stock. Yesterday I used it very heavy, redownloading all my Gear VR apps and games and playing Minecraft VR for almost an hour. I did a lot of other work and downloading apps and at the end I had 4hrs of sot and still had 20% left, though I don't remember my total time on battery.
I did more adjusting today, I turned on all the Xposed options in Greenify, and greenifyed a ton of apps following the Guide for flashing U firmware, and so far I have 84% with 6hrs on time and about and hour of sot time.
I though I heard it takes a couple of days for Greenify and Amplify to learn and make adjustments. Maybe give it a few days. I am not sure if you did or not, but I have always found that it is a good idea to do a factory reset when doing major system adjustments like rooting, or major updates.

Dude, that sounds impossible to achieve 6 hours of SOT while only losing 16%. I'd like to see some screenshots of everything that you did and how you can achieve such results while using daily functions with stuff such as Facebook and all that.

Whoops.... My bad. I'd still like to know accurate battery stats and see what's his setup is though. I think I realized that my phone may be heating up too quickly because I altered the governor when I don't think I needed to after flashing @psouza4 's fix+debloat zip for my phone.
That puts in debate though, will the 935U make a huge difference in battery life?

Honest mistake, I have no comment on the other things you've mentioned unfortunately as I've decided to wait it out until things get a little more stable with the rooted firmware. First smart phone I've owned where I haven't rooted immediately after an exploit was found. I just need everything to work right now with little intervention on my part lol... smh... it's a sad sad day for me

I am at work and don't have time at the moment to go over everything at the moment, but when I will write it out and get some screenshots. I ended up with 4hrs 27mins sot last night and had 13% left. I should mention that I leave the brightness on auto, because I imagine that make's a big difference and a lot of people like their screens at max brightness.
I ended up being busy so I don't have time to mention everything tonight but here is some picture proof. It wasn't as good today, I think because I work in the basement of a hospital where the service is bad and I am constantly switching between wifi antenna's. I also realized that Amplify doesn't come pre-setup, so it wasn't doing much of anything. Tonight I set it up so I am anxious to see if it helps. I also bought better battery stats today so I can get some more detailed info. Wednesday I am off and might be able to test it better.
I will also say I have way less lag after switching to U firmware and rooting. Mine was getting pretty bad on stock. I like having more control over what I can freeze again.
My battery drain is about the same before and after root, which is 2 or 3% an hour in standby with AOD on and BT connected to Gear S2. Wifi off unless charging, nearby device scanning off, Android backup off, all of psouza4's tweaks, brightness on auto, etc. Screen-on time generally close to 5 hours if I'm indoors, which I usually am, though I never use it that long without charging it. I looked just now and with 51% charge I have 2h24m SOT and 7h30m powered on. Most of that was light use reading news and stuff.
I might try the U firmware just for fun, not to try and get better battery life.
Overall, basically no change in battery life for me according to the discharge rates (%/hr).

Yeah, something isn't cutting out for me being on root. I had much better battery life before easily achieving 1 hour of SOT by 88-90% and 3 hours of SOT by 50%. Something is really draining my phone faster than usual despite all the battery mods I did even on the U firmware.
If only I could be on the U firmware and keep the Advanced Calling and Visual Voicemail. >__>
battery life and performance issues are why I am back to stock after flashing all roms that are out there and still not worth being rooted.. I have been waiting for the better roms to come forward, but not to much support for the Verizon s7 due to the locked bootloader

[Q] Can Rooting your phone ruin your Battery?

I am wondering if rooting your phone causes the OS to eat up more power AFTER you un-root your phone?
Here's my situation. I had my phone working just fine and I ended up rooting it with the MM firmware a few months ago. During that root, everything was great, no lag, my battery was getting 24hrs on a charge with about 8-12 hrs SOT.
Was notified the Nougat update was available. Un-rooted the phone, took the OTA update to Nougat, then rooted the phone with the Eng Img that is available on the forums. Once I got it all set up and adjusted with all the recommendations within that thread, the lag was pretty much nonexistent. But I was getting very bad battery drain. I was only able to run the phone with 10-20% drain per hour and a full charge would only last about 4-6 hours.
I ended up Unrooting the Nougat root and going back to stock Nougat. Now I have the same battery drain as when I was rooted. And I was wanting to know if Rooting could cause the CPU/OS to cause the battery drain even after unrooting?
On an unrelated reason, I am getting a new phone under warranty and wanting to know when I get the new phone, could rooting the new one cause the same issue?

Share Battery life and performance

Guys please post you battery life and brenchmerks on nougut and marshmallow so that we can decide which one is better. Some people experiencing poor battery life in nougut. Share screenshot of battery stat and gsm battery monitor and other battery monitoring app. And sorry for bad english.
My rom is stock nougut. Cell standby 2 percent. Phone idle 3 percent. Screen 14 percent.
Screenshot is bellow.
No screenshot on my side but for me the Nougat update has revived the phone: much better battery life (+1h SOT I would say), run cooler, less stutters, smooth scrolling in chrome, fast wifi connection and all the nougat advantages. I haven't seen bugs apart from the system UI tuner that resets itself.
I am running 100% stock, took the OTA when it was offered to me and made a factory reset.

I'll try to remember next week, I switch back to my S7 for the weekend.
Getting almost 4 hours of SOT on my 8 months old device.
My device is 14 months old and I use dual sim cards, mostly I'm on WiFi.
I get 1.5-3 hours of SOT generally. I generally have to charge my phone 3 times a day.
Stock nougat
Only using WiFi
Mostly browsing and videos on YouTube.
Getting 4 to 4.5 hours of sot.
I manage to have 5 hours SoT with android stock funcionalitys only. I am doing test but i maybe i will create a teadh latter to explain how to get more SoT.

I have 2hr SOT. VERY POOR. NEED TO CHARGE 3 TIMES A DAY
Here are my screenshots. I was mostly on WiFi during the day, did a lot of reading/browsing, a little YouTube, and gamed for around 30 minutes. Before I would have needed to recharge mid-afternoon and was getting 2:30/3h max SOT a day.
I'm extremely pleased with the update.
After doing a heavy tweaking of the phone without root i managed to get more than 5 hour of SoT. After that i was getting an unaceptable 3hs SoT.
