It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Note5 before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I usually get around 3.5-4 hours of screen on time before the phone needs a power-up.
So today is one of my heavy usage days. This is how it goes pretty much. Wake up around 6 am get, get on my phone, check notifications, hop on a few social games, get on social media, watch videos from social media, check my favorite website, get on some games, check some more websites, battery gets a little low so I charge up, and while it's charging I get my day started.
That's heavy usage for me and thats what I did all day today so far. Here's some screenshots just prior to me writing this post, tell me what you think.
Now some might think it's bad, but I've been on my phone pretty much non stop.
i'm getting 30-40 min more than the S6 edge ussually 4 hours screen on time, auto brightness, mobile data, wifi, 3 gmail sync, Facebook and messenger...I probably wouldn't get this phone if it wasn't for the quick charge ability.
I am very happy with battery life. I don't game and I don't watch tons of YouTube and I'm connected to a WiFi network most of the day. But this is the best in terms of battery life of any phone i have ever had, including the one plus one. Typically get 8 to 10 hours screen on time but I've gotten as high as 12 before. Auto brightness, location disabled most of the time. Stock, 200+ apps disabled with package disabler pro.

Averaging 5-7 hours on a busy day, everything is turned on except for a few bloat apps which are disabled.
I dont understand how you use you phone for 12 hours in a day..Do you have a job? I will get up at 7am and talk maybe for an hour on my phone and have 3 hrs max screen on time before I end my day at 10 pm with 45% battery left..more or less.
I'm seeing about 7 hours SOT. Auto brightness, nothing disabled, syncs on.

Its impossible for 12h SOT.. can you share some screenshoot for sot 12h without charging from 100% until 1%.. i dont belive if no screen shoot..
My device is on battery for 4 hours 37 minutes 51 seconds since last charge.
SOT is 58 minutes 36 seconds.
My battery percentage is 74%.
Is this normal or bad ??
I purchased my phone for yesterday and charged it till full. I never charge for continuous 8 hours.
Is this normal or bad ? Shall i charge it for 8 hours ?
Typical days my battery only lasts about 12-13hours before its sub 10%. Some days it's better but typical office days are rather poor battery life from past android and iOS devices with similar use. Attached are my thumbnails. As you can see I am only getting 2 hours of screen on time. It def appears I have an issue with my Moto 360 using excessive battery and I am not sure why as most things are disabled on the watch and the watch battery is usually north of 75% when I goto bed.
Ever since I reset my phone back to factory resettings (rooting caused my phone to slow down), i've been experiencing some great battery life and smoothness(obviously)
6 hours SOT with 7% left. 1 day and 6+ hours of regular usage, nothing too heavy.
YRAJ23- Thats perfectly normal. It should come out to around 4 hours of SoT. You can charge the phone for 8 or more hours because it knows when to stop charging. You cannot overcharge any modern smartphone.
U should get at least 5hrs sot unless playing games and watching YouTube! Disable Samsung and Google bloats like Google+ and use Greenify app from Oasis Feng on play store to hibernate most of your downloaded apps which cause battery drain. Put your brightness in the 40-60% and if possible ideally in the 25% range indoors!
Ive been debating picking up a note 5 now that is avail in Canada in 64gb and silver but reading through this has me reconsidering.
I get better battery life from both my current devices and without being able to swap batteries 4 to 5hrs SOT is not ideal given my lifestyle/ work schedule

Fairly normal 2.5-3.5 hours on weekdays, bc school WiFi drains battery like ****. On weekends typically average 3.5 on 3G/LTE because reception where I live isn't exactly top notch. At home however, 5-6 hours is pretty much the norm, bc my home WiFi rocks.
I normally get 15-16 hours on battery with 4-5 hours of screen on time. i did a video playing a game and timing it. if you want to check it out here from the video you'll see depending on your settings i could get between 4-6 hours of onscreen time with goat sim running.

Exact same here, yet I see these people with 6, 7 even 8 hours of screen time on one charge. How? Are they sitting there with WiFi and the cell radio turned off, just watching clips and doing offline stuff? I just don't understand how they can manage to pull that many hours out of the battery. I struggle to break past 4 hours. But 8? Freaking double? I'm not buying it.
I keep reading posts telling that their phones get 30-35h of use with 7h SOT.
Is anybody with tmo snapdragon getting those numbers?
I can't go past 12 hours of use with 5h SOT.

I take my phone off the charger around 6am. I run 55 percent screen brightness. I hit around 6.5 screen on time and around 8pm I have 20 percent battery life remaining. I typically listen to milk music all day and do some light gaming. I charge my phone at night so it works great for me
Nope. I haven't been able to get those kind of numbers. I guess we will see what happens with the new update.
I get about 7 hours of SOT, I do keep the brightness fairly low though.
I've been getting close to 9 hours sot per charge. I'll put up a screen shot after this charge.

I've only been getting around 2 - 3 hours SOT and lucky if I see 20 hours on battery before I have to charge again Wifi, bluetooth and nfc on. AOD off. Bloatware disabled with Package Disabler Pro. No gaming, maybe 1 - 2 hours of music streaming (Google Play Music), and rest is web browsing, email, and phone on my desk or in my pocket. Really jealous of what some other people are getting, and can't seem to find the winning formula for my phone.
The best SOT I've gotten so far, but with about 16 hrs.
I can't get those crazy 30+ hours with 9 SOT, but mine definitely better than my previous S6E.
Averaging with 12-16 hours use, between 6.5-8 SOT.
I get about 3:30 SoT, but I also get about 44 hours off the charger. I don't have the VR yet, and I don't game on my phone. Mostly stream music, texts, and phone calls so I don't have to turn my screen on that often.
I just tried something, not sure if ot will work. In settings-battery-app power savings-detail. It is default set to only save power for selected apps if they are inactive for 3 days. I changed all of the apps that I start manually to "always" save power. Hope it makes a difference.
I wish the regular power savings mode gave a grayscale screen like on the S5
Help what the heck can I disable with PDPRO? Android OS and Android system eating over 55% of my battery.
I use samsung pay and have a few sync exchange accounts.. I use Google Apps and Google play.. fingerprint.. don't need face auto stay..
I'm on tmobile and have gotten lucky I guess. I get great SOT. I also use a launcher and froze some Samsung apps.
No issues on my end. I've already exceeded 7hrs screen time over 2 days on battery.
So far so good.
This is so far the best phone I've had with excellent battery life. I've even had Bluetooth on all the time with some WiFi usage
4 and a half hrs SOT.. 32% remaining.. I would upload a screenshot but for some XDA won't let me upload any photos from my phone.. I'm not sure why
Not too shabby

If you are in a good signal area on T-Mobile, the phones do pretty well. I have the HTC M9 that got Marshmallow a few weeks ago and my numbers are similar to yours...but I might JUMP! because that phone looks incredible and it has the external storage back like my M9 which is a bonus
Not bad so far, LTE about 80% of the day. WiFi the rest. Doze seemed to kick in and keep the phone alive at 3% when I slept

Hello XDA members. I've been struggling to get a good battery life. My aim is atleast a day of usage along with a minimum of 4 hours SoT. Currently on XtreStoLite 3.3.1 Rom with Arter Kernel (SM-G920I).
If you search for a thread called 'Galaxy S6 battery is insane', you will notice some tips, and the op is mentioning getting 8 hours of SoT.

Idk how is this possible, implying that it generally is. I'm on my own self heavily debloated stock (basically as light as XtreSto but the base is the latest one) with arter kernel 21.0 (best release imho) and I get 3.5hrs SoT average. I use Greenify and got rid of ****ty apps long time ago - talking mainly about Facebook.
The thing is that nobody even posted a screenshot of this ridiculous SoT score so I can hardly believe it.
That's there. However, I could see 2 screenshots of 8 hours and 10 hours of SoT. Might be a screenshot from some other phone
man 8h sot or 10 h sot is impossible. And dont trust all you see in the battery threads.
This phone is capable of maximum 6h 30 sot on wifi with light usage..i mean reddit ,xda
4h sot with heavy usage.
And 3h on 3g
Dont expect any more.

It's just impossible imho with qHD and 2600 mAH battery combined
Okay. Another suggestion.
I'm on XtreStoLite 3.3.1 Rom. Using stock kernel, Greenify, DisableService to increase battery life. Any other suggestions? (If any app, please give detailed settings ). Thanks
I had 7.5h SoT on 5.1.1 full stock without much tweaking, so this is completely real. However this is 2g+wifi. On 3g and lte I can hardly get 3h on any ROM
How the F can you achieve 4h+ on Samsung S6??? I'm new to S6, tried atleast 5 ROMs and 2 kernels (arter and nogeek) and by any chance I didn't get more than 3h SOT ...
Interactive (Max. battery)(underclocked)(undervolted) + noop i/o + HEBF app = 4h sot on 3g. 6,5h sot Wi-Fi for me.
@edit
Ahh i forgot.. +GovTuner
Okay. And any kernel suggestions?
On G920T i'm using firestorm for better performance. Twisted/arter for better battery life. I think it's possible to get 7h+ sot on wifi.

Thanks for this thread. Went with xStreSoLite and arter 21 kernel and so far it's looking really good. Atleast 4h+ SOT looking to be.
Well. I'm finally back to everything stock. Just have the EZ Disabler app.
How's Arter 22 vs 21 vs Hacker Kernel ?
Combination of WiFi on(75%) and off(25%).
I think you can tweak and flash all you want. The main reason for drain on the phone is the brightness. So just turn it down as low as you can (I am on auto and about 1/3 of the brightness slider). Like this I get around 4 hrs of SOT, depending on where I am (autobrightness). If I start turning the brightness up, it just sucks up my battery in no time. So I think all this flashing and especially undervolting and underclocking your chip don't do much except maybe slow your phone down and make it instable. And all the time you spent on the tweaking process, you might as well have used otherwise. Don't get me wrong, I also used to do it, just because I could and because I liked it, but looking and it now, it just wasn't worth the time. Just close your background apps from time to time, disable and uninstall those you don't need, use an appropriate network speed (you probably don't always need LTE) and turn down the brightness.
Cheers, n00by

^ Basically this
I currently use my phone heavily with Xtrestolite 3.3.1 (Android 6.1) with the following:
Kernel: Arter97 kernel(interactive)
Google: MicroG to replace Google Play crap
Apps: Amplify / AppopsXposed / Greenify / Titanium Backup
With most crap uninstalled/frozen SOT-times vary heavily depending on brightness and use, for example I use Snapchat and Instagram a lot so I need to SEE what happens on the screen without putting effort in it which in some occasions forces me to tune up brightness.
Most likely if I were to use 5.x Android instead of 6.x it would decrease overall battery use but my phone is currently running smooth so I don't want to go through the hassle to get that working.
I don't see why you all are not getting good battery life. This phone has awesome battery life.

Hi.
My battery life has been very crappy lately.
Ive rooted. Flashed Audax. Installed amplify and xposed and used the glassfish governor as well as naptime. The standby hours raised from 9h to 12h but sot is still the same. 1h 30 mins !!
All i use is whatsapp and facebook and gmail!!
Is there's any hope? I love my phone but the battery is really making me think of ditching it.
Me too i barely get 2 hours got only 3 in miui

I do not want to disappoint you but gsmarenas review of the nougat update for the s7 proved that the battery is worse thab marshmallow and the whole resolution thing didnt cut anything.
So...didn't like to resort to this but Greenify is really good on this phone.
I still get more than 3h SOT with at least 12hr stand by time.
My phone is 13 months old.
Could it just be you need a battery replacement?
Could you guys post your Screen on Time? I get average 6 to 7 hrs SOT on moderate usage.
Also would be helpful if you could share your battery saving tips

Previous day's I'm kinda disappointed with the battery life/SOT since I just get an average of 4-5 hrs. This time however, I can hit 6-7 hours. IDK what happened perhaps my charging habit? Or my habit of playing/using my note 9 while charging? Also I charge my phone overnight and I must say those did not hurt my battery but improved it. 2 hours SOT and I only lost 20%

I felt the same. Discharge was more during initial charging cycles then improved slowly. Now almost everytime i get 7 hrs. I felt the difference especially after the October update I'm seeing good battery life. :good::good:
even more screen time

Latest SOT (one UI beta)
I get around 16 Hours screen on time. My display is set to a Screen resolution of FHD+(2220x1080). I have a black theme and amoled black wallpaper. I game a lot (rise of the kings) and stream from Spotify regularly. My game performance setting is set to balanced and I went to... Settings>Device maintenance>battery and added apps that need to run in the Unmonitored catagory. Email Facebook Skype and so on. The rest I put into the always sleeping catagory. I have the snapdragon Canadian variant SM-N960W. Had it 5 months now and on a non gaming day I can push 20 hours. I don't watch videos tho, got a TV for that. I also disabled any unneeded apps and removed all bloatware. Hope I've given you some ideas.
Cheers!
