hi all,
it appears that my gs3 is having a haggard time with life at the moment, and its constantly freezing, locking up, giving not responding errors, and the touch screen also dies out.
its a shame, as it wasnt progressive. it started one day where it was in flight mode, took it out of F/M, and then it wouldnt even detect the sim card. though weird, backed it all up, re-flashed the rom, and it fixed it for about a week then it started to die again.
i even re-flashed it back to STOCK from sam mobile f/w and through ODIN, and that still didnt help.
so, i think its time for an upgrade (bit of a shame and would love to fix the GS3 if possible as i loved it) and i am wondering if i should just get s GS7 or splash out the cash for the Pixel? the specs seem similar to my research, and the S7 has been out for a while and is proven aswell. whereas the pixel is to be released in a few days.
opinions?
cheers
Jason

or am i best off asking in the GS7 section? the GS3 section dosent seem to livley thesedays.
Jason

I went to flash cwm and ODIN was nice enough to give me a big red FAIL, and then the phone shut off. Turned it back on, and its stuck at the phone-!-pc icon. I've tried various solutions for other galaxy s phones and not had luck.
Actually I got past this. Next question.
Is there any reason I cannot flash cwm with flash_image? Because Odin kills my phone every time I try.
I thought I read something where someone in the dev forum had a similar issue? I'm guessing you've already tried those solutions?
It ended up being a funky usb port. All better.
lol solved your own problem
Yes, I end up doing that a lot

You beat me to it, adrynalyne! I was going to say you usually do, solve your own problems a lot.
Going to be cooking up some ROMs for us? I loved your WinMo ones.
I guess you are one and the same I remember from the old Samsung Omnia forums? (And others)
Hello! I'm new here. I've been browsing the forums for a couple of months now so i finally decided to make an account and this is my first post .
OK. now my question.
so around probably around 15 minutes ago i picked up my phone and it was working fine.
like 5 minutes ago, i picked up my phone and it was turned off. i figured the battery might have died or something. I go to turn it on, and it won't turn on. i took the battery out twice, and still no luck. After about 5 minutes, my phone decided to turn on by itself.
It works fine and everything, but still, can someone possibly explain to me what just happened? lol. i figured it would be hardware related, but if the information is needed...
My phone is rooted
The rom it currently runs is RoyalThunder 2.1. i flashed it yesterday.
So thanks to anyone that can explain this. like i said, my phone works. but i want to know if this has happened to anyone else.
honestly, i've never heard anything like this before. i have a galaxy s i9000 rooted and it has similar problems, the screen would turn off and i can't turn it on until i pull the battery and reboot.
so, not sure, but glad it still works fine
and by the way, welcome to the XDA forums

I've never heard of this either lol. i've been rooted since around mid june and i've had the phone since around november? whenever it first came out. i thought it was bricked at first but then it turned back on. kinda weird.
and thanks
Hey guys, i just got a replacement Atrix because my girlfriend dropped my original Atrix in the toilet, and the new Atrix keeps dieing/shutting down after the screen has been off for more than 10 minutes. Any clues or hints as to what i can do to stop this or perhaps this is just a faulty device?
More info needed on your setup, i.e. ROM, bootloader unlocked, etc.
Not sure if this was the case before i got the phone, but i did notice that the screen wouldn't turn on after it timed out the first time i turned it on.
As for my setup, i unlocked the bootloader as soon as i got it, and i rooted it also. After rooting it i put The DarkSide v3.1.0 on it.
Oh ya, one more thing, the only way to keep the phone from dieing by timing out is to set the screen to never time out... Don't know if that bit of info would be helpful.
if the issue is not resolved by a factory reset, it sounds like you were sent a faulty replacement device.
since it was unlocked and all, re flash a different ROM and see if the issue persists.
Kk, i'll put a new rom on it in a bit and re-update with the progress.
Ehhh... No luck, slapped on Alien by Kenn and still no luck... I'll wait and see if anyone else has any other helpful hints meanwhile i search other forums. Guess my best bet would be to get another replacement again?

Try flashing different kernels and also try to fix permissions on recovery. If these don't help, I am afraid you have a faulty Atrix my friend.

So just looking for any advice regarding if I should root/unlock boot loader/ flash a ROM or mod after a previous problem I had with the phone.
I got the error message "modem did not power up (0) then Starting RSD protocol support" after my phone died one night. After about 2 weeks of jacking with the phone I went and got an upgrade for the iPhone 4S for the wife and used her iPhone 4 and absolutely hated it, so I attempted one last time to get the Atrix to fire back up. And some way some how a number of button pushes through fast boot and the Android gods had answered my prayers to awake the Atrix back from the dead. Now I'm really itching to flash a ROM but unsure how stable going through the process would be after my prior predicament. Any advice from anyone who has dealt with this issue before and was fine flashing and rooting would be greatly appreciated. I am really wanting to take the plunge and really unleash the full potential of the phone, however I cant go back to the iPhone, stock Android is light years ahead of even a Jailbroken iPhone. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Well, i had this issue before, i just sent it to warranty and got replaced the mobo the issue is hardware problem, so "we" can't do nothing about it.. sry.

The only thing you can do that is likely to have any effect on "your issue" is flashing a new radio.
If you are OK with how it works now, feel free to play with roms. These do not flash a new radio. You can go to CM7 or ICS if you like.
Flashing a new radio might help the issue, or it might brick the phone.
I got the error and flashing the stock rom through RSD made the trick. Phone is good as new since then !

Think I might take the plunge and go for a ROM flash then. If all else fails and I do brick it I guess I'll find and buy another Atrix 4G from someone. Thanks for everyone's replies/comments.
Hi All
I did the latest Samsung update for my S7 edge 3 days ago.
I'm now getting very poor battery life. Full charge down empty before the day is out.
The phone occasionally freezes, at this time it gets warm, and the battery drain increases a huge amount. It does this maybe twice a day.
About ready to conact Samsung about it, but thought id see if anybody has had similar issues.
S7 Edge on Vodephone, Not rooted, running Nova launcher.
As I say it worked fine up till the update
Thanks Steve
What is your current firmware version ? This is the most important thing to post when asking something like this and actually expecting an answer.

I'm having the same problem
Hi, I'm also having this problem since updating my phone on September 24. The phone freezes on the "always on" display, or the screen just stays black. I never had this problem before and have had this phone for months. I'm posting so you know this is not an isolated problem.
Samsung Galaxy S7, Android version 6.0.1. I don't know what else you need. Thanks.
