So about at the end of August, I decided it would be a great idea to finally try and root my phone and unlock some more capabilities; however, it has been nothing but a nightmare. Not only have i tripped my QualComm Knox security, my phone gets stuck in a boot loop every Monday and often has apps crashing to the point of the phone being essentially bricked minus text and call. I have tried to flash a stock AT&T firmware through Odin but everytime i try and load in my final AP file the Odin app crashes and I am never able to successfully flash the stock firmware. Any help/ instruction would be greatly appreciated.
Try different versions of ODIN. Try running it with Administrator rights. I have had issues with 3.09. 3.11.x finally worked for me. There should also be a 3.12.x version.

AP files is huge and take time to load. Odin normally freeze when loading file but it will become responsive again after finish loading. You can open windows task manager and see that odin take a load on disk usage when it's freezing.

I had a rooted stock rom MF9 w Philz Touch Recovery 6 and wanted to upgrade to the new MK2 firmware. So I used Odin to flash the tar file and it passed. I rebooted and froze on the boot screen for about 60 seconds and then started up and said " Android Upgrade Completed". Wifi did not work so I figured it was the Kernel. So stupid me flashed KT kernel using Philz hoping it would fix my wifi issues. I powered down then up and the boot screen came on and my screen went black.. The phone works and can receive calls but I have a black screen. Then I tried to be very smart by using Odin torevert back to the MF9 firmware but no luck. Philz is still intact
How can get my sreen working again or worst case factory reset

no splash screen. i can touch it and resonds to my touch, even make phone calls and will ring. But no splash screen or wallpaper. I'm so frustrated
You can use android screen emulate on your desktop if you have the android sdk installed.
First off, you can't go back to MF9 since you are already on MK2. Download the full MK2 tar file to use with odin. Then pull the battery from your phone to ensure you are truly powered off since you can tell if your screen isn't working. Next press and hold volume down and then power till your phone boots to the download mode menu. If your screen is still blank but it gave you the power on vibrate then press volume up. This should put you into download/odin mode. Next, fire up odin with administrator privileges and plug your phone into the computer. If odin recognizes it you successfully entered download mode with a blank screen. Load the MK2 tar file in the pda slot in odin and when ready hit the start button. Hopefully you will get a pass when the software install completes. Next reboot the phone and see if it works. If the screen is still blank after a successful odin then it is hardware related and take it to Sprint.

Oi I'm posting horribly!
Let me be more concise. If you have no screen you can use the ASM tool to access your display via usb-pc/laptop and control it from there. I had to reflash an old droid after a bad firmware flash left me with no display and this was one of my few choices.
Otherwise you can use ADB to issue commands to your phone DOS style if you want to take the time to learn that stuff.

I can get into download mode so i do know the screen does work to some capacity. I never took the ota to mja so im assuming i don't have the mja knox bootloader. can someone send me a link to the tar file or zip and does it include the firmware and rom without knox? i am a noob to this so i kinda understand some of the things you guys are saying but not sure how to do this. Sorry, misread the original post, thought you did the full upgrade to mk2. All you should have to do is flash or odin the stock recovery or to be safe, odin the full mf9 tar to make sure you start out with a clean slate.

I installed cyanogenmod & clockworkmod yesterday and it appeared to work fine. But this morning, it was bricked and when I try to boot it up, it quickly flashes the Samsung Galaxy S4 screen and then shuts off again. It does not boot into recovery mode at all, but it does boot into download/odin mode. When i tried to install the stock rom through download/odin mode it kept coming up with fail messages in the odin pc application. I tried multiple versions of odin yet it continued to fail, when I took it to the Sprint store they said there was nothing they could do but have me send it back to Samsung, and since it is rooted with a custom rom Samsung may not honor the warranty. What, if any, are my options for installing a working rom and getting it to at least boot into recovery mode? Thank you.

Um, this is awkward but after many attempts to re-install clockworkmod, so I could boot into recovery mode, it finally, magically, worked! I had to use some mac software and push the file onto my phone through download mode but it somehow worked, thank you for your help but I already have cyanogenmod running again. Thanks again! :victory:
same thing happened to me, ODIN wasn't letting me flash anything, then I realized I accidentally screwed up my bootloader and I found the most updated version that no one had posted on the forums. I still couldn't get my phone to boot (boot loop), so I just took the SIM card out and it booted just fine.... I put the card back in and everything was okay. I don't know wtf happened, but I thought I screwed up my phone the first hour I had it.
ok, so I am not a noob on rooting and such, but this one has me stumped. Have the i337 on mdl baseband. Wanted to return it to stock. I tried to Odin (v3.09) the factory tar from the samsung site, i got a failure, then it went to recovery mode saying to connect kies. I have tried kies 2.6 and 3.0, neither recognize the device. I have tried redownloading samsung firmware thinking it was corrupted and mk2 firmwares in odin, neither worked, they go immediately to fail when i try to execute Odin. I can get into download mode or the kies recovery mode, not sure what to do since it will not take odin. Any ideas?

1. Kies and Recovery mode aren't same thing. Kies never will recognize your device being in Stock Recovery Mode. Don't mix things.
2. Find the error now is difficult coz maybe you update your bootloader with the MK2 firmware (that's android 4.3 no android 4.2.2).
3. Get me the errors or one screenshot that appears in ODIN when you try to flash the MK2 firmware pls.
I'll see what I can do, it happens so fast I don't think anything updates, and it shows me no errors, just fail

Pit file
I see youre trying to flash the mk2 file but you dont have the pit file for the repartition head over here and download the mk2 pit file and then rerun it I also see that you have auto reboot checked, uncheck the auto reboot and then once iit finishes flashing and say reset unpluget you're device and pull the battery then put it back in and go into stock recovery by holding volume up power and home all at the same time and wipe data factory reset and cache partition http://d-h.st/5gz
Thanks, but that did not work either. I have never had a problem I couldn't odin out of, but I have tried everything I can think of and still nothing will work. I just want to sell the phone so I even tried the nb1 which should install no matter what bootloader I am on, and still nothing.
So a couple of days ago I purchased a new galaxy s6 edge+ from t-mobile. When I got home I immediately wanted to root and install a ROM without the bloatware. I downloaded a rooted kernel and went to Odin to flash it. When it flashes it reboots to the Samsung logo screen and stays there. The top of the screen reads than the kernel is not seandroid enforcing. I can boot into download mode still but nothing I have tried will get it to boot back up. I made sure that I unlocked developers options on my phone before I went to do anything. All I want to do it just take it back to stock at this point. Someone please help.
You need to flash a recovery first. Then arter97s kernel from recovery. Then I would clear cache and dalvik cache.
Sent from my SM-G928F using Tapatalk
How can I boot into recovery? I hate that I can't pull the battery on the phone. Right now it is just stuck at the logo screen. I can use volume down and power to hard reset it but then it just goes back to the logo screen. Anyway you could drop me the links for what I need? This whole thing is a lot different than what I had to do for my note 3
Volume up + home + power. But it can be a bit tricky I've noticed. Check out arter97s kernel thread below android development.
There you can find recovery and kernel.
Flash recovery trough Odin and flash kernel trough recovery.
Pretty much exactly as the note 3 done it several times.
You need to somehow get the kernel on the phone tho. And as you can't boot it. Google ADB sideload to install it via a db and cable. Or reinstall stock rom and transfer the kernel.
Sent from my SM-G928F using Tapatalk
Okay I spent a good 5 hours on this tonight and I think I only made it worse. I got a kernel and a recovery made to be flashed in Odin. Flashed the recovery. Rebooted. Flashed the kernel. Now when I turn the phone onumber it just loops over and over on the Samsung logo. I can't really turn it off, my only 2 option are infinite bootloop or putting the phone in download mode. I really am starting to feel more and more screwed in this situation. Thank you for any help or advice, it makes it very difficult when there is one else I can go to see for help on the issue.
What can I flash from Odin that can take me back to how it was out of the box. Knox is already tripped.
Go to http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ site. Search for your phone. I got a 928f. But you gotta find out what model you got.
Then download the firmware and flash It with Odin!

i had the exact same problem, what got it to boot was that i flashed though odin the stock firmware. here is the link to it. http://samsung-firmware.org/model/SM-G928T/ now i have another problem, after i flashed back to stock, i wanted to downgrade to UVU1AOGD snd now all the flashing process says it passed and everything but the phone wont boot passed the s6 ed plus logo. i can boot into recovery and flash stuff but it just wont boot. i try reseting it through recovery but it gives me an error. i think that it cant mount the internal storage, dont know why so i would recommend you not to flash downgrade to UVU1AOGD because you wont be able to boot. maybe if i can get a pit file.. or update to UVU1BOH6 , it will be able to boot
Don't play with pit files. There is a big chance that things can go wrong. Just download the latest firmware for your phone and don't risk it! happy flashing!

i flashed back to UVU1BOH4 but phone just wont boot. do you think that by upgrading to UVU1BOH6 will fix the problem, it just wont go pass the black samsung galaxy s5 edge + logo, ive done everything

You can disabled the boot loop and heating up by factory resetting your phone after flashing the engboot, once this is done do the entire initial setup but when prompt with hands free activation hold the back button. Go to the play store and download package Disabler Samsung. Now go to settings and activate device, when finished do not hit "done" instead hit the home button. Go to package Disabler and search DM services, disable it and wala! Enjoy!

It's definitely tricky but this works. I've done it to mine 3 times to get everything right. I'm on pd8 by the way.
Here is how I got everything working smooth.
Make sure you have the modified Odin from the original AT&T thread.
Take out the Sim and memory card if you have one. These have caused issues in the past.
Factory reset in recovery. Then boot into download mode. Flash via Odin the 930t pd8 firmware or whatever version you have (from sammobile, 2hr download with a free account) make sure. To use the "Home" csc file. Again we are flashing all the fields.
Now your stock.
Boot up and setup your phone. Still no Sim or memory card. Install kernel auditor, titanium back up and busy box.
Turn on adb mode via developer mode.
ADB reboot download mode.
Flash everything again but this time using " Samsung_G930x_QC_Rooted_boot.zip" in the AP field in Odin.
It will reboot, then once abd is able to see your device. Run the root.bat.
It will reboot after a time.
Once it's back. Install busybox to system/bin, it won't install to xbin.
Use kernel auditor to change cpu governor to "ondemand".
Use titanium back up to freeze "security log agent"
You should be golden.

How is the lag? Did you notice any performance loss? I followed the steps in the original thread and had to factory reset after being stuck on the Tmo screen (Huge over site on Tmo to add a white splash screen on an AMOLED screen...). After I flashed SU, superSU would lag like crazy. It would take 2 mins for root requests to popup. I never felt so happy to odin back to stock after that. I didnt think of flashing all odin files and just replacing the AP slot. Maybe that will make a difference?

I had the same problem all is good now just let your phone rest so it can learn battery usage and download no frills cpu or any goody kernel tweaker and change govn. To interactive this will help lag. You just have to let phone sit it will fix itself.
