So a couple of days ago I purchased a new galaxy s6 edge+ from t-mobile. When I got home I immediately wanted to root and install a ROM without the bloatware. I downloaded a rooted kernel and went to Odin to flash it. When it flashes it reboots to the Samsung logo screen and stays there. The top of the screen reads than the kernel is not seandroid enforcing. I can boot into download mode still but nothing I have tried will get it to boot back up. I made sure that I unlocked developers options on my phone before I went to do anything. All I want to do it just take it back to stock at this point. Someone please help.
You need to flash a recovery first. Then arter97s kernel from recovery. Then I would clear cache and dalvik cache.

How can I boot into recovery? I hate that I can't pull the battery on the phone. Right now it is just stuck at the logo screen. I can use volume down and power to hard reset it but then it just goes back to the logo screen. Anyway you could drop me the links for what I need? This whole thing is a lot different than what I had to do for my note 3
Volume up + home + power. But it can be a bit tricky I've noticed. Check out arter97s kernel thread below android development.
There you can find recovery and kernel.
Flash recovery trough Odin and flash kernel trough recovery.
Pretty much exactly as the note 3 done it several times.
You need to somehow get the kernel on the phone tho. And as you can't boot it. Google ADB sideload to install it via a db and cable. Or reinstall stock rom and transfer the kernel.

Okay I spent a good 5 hours on this tonight and I think I only made it worse. I got a kernel and a recovery made to be flashed in Odin. Flashed the recovery. Rebooted. Flashed the kernel. Now when I turn the phone onumber it just loops over and over on the Samsung logo. I can't really turn it off, my only 2 option are infinite bootloop or putting the phone in download mode. I really am starting to feel more and more screwed in this situation. Thank you for any help or advice, it makes it very difficult when there is one else I can go to see for help on the issue.
What can I flash from Odin that can take me back to how it was out of the box. Knox is already tripped.
Go to http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ site. Search for your phone. I got a 928f. But you gotta find out what model you got.
Then download the firmware and flash It with Odin!

That's a fully stock rom. Tho it will take a few hours to download. Good luck!

i had the exact same problem, what got it to boot was that i flashed though odin the stock firmware. here is the link to it. http://samsung-firmware.org/model/SM-G928T/ now i have another problem, after i flashed back to stock, i wanted to downgrade to UVU1AOGD snd now all the flashing process says it passed and everything but the phone wont boot passed the s6 ed plus logo. i can boot into recovery and flash stuff but it just wont boot. i try reseting it through recovery but it gives me an error. i think that it cant mount the internal storage, dont know why so i would recommend you not to flash downgrade to UVU1AOGD because you wont be able to boot. maybe if i can get a pit file.. or update to UVU1BOH6 , it will be able to boot
Don't play with pit files. There is a big chance that things can go wrong. Just download the latest firmware for your phone and don't risk it! happy flashing!
Sent from my SM-G928F using Tapatalk
i flashed back to UVU1BOH4 but phone just wont boot. do you think that by upgrading to UVU1BOH6 will fix the problem, it just wont go pass the black samsung galaxy s5 edge + logo, ive done everything

I got my phone (The day it was released), rooted it, but didn't install a recovery.. or kernel. really just wanted to restore apps with Titanium backup.
Everything was fine. until today. it had restarted and updated the system on it's own. that was fine. then it had a notification from samsung to update the system, so i clicked on that, it said it was reboot twice and take several minutes, it installed, started up, everything was working great, then a message came up saying system would reboot. i clicked okay. it restarted. and now its stuck on the yellow splash screen
i've taken the battery out. same thing.. i'm not sure what to do.
Why did you accept an update while rooted.? It should have failed to install.

The only think I can think of is to Odin back to stock unrooted. Since you can't flash anything. Or Odin a kernel (cwm/twrp) then wipe the phone.

then put them back and it worked. i haven't restarted again yet with them in it.. but i'm sure it was just stuck on finalizing the update
i'm likely not rooted anymore either. damnit.

Yup Root is gone. grr.
All that was needed was a kernel change, that error is a kernel issue.
So my phone had an update and not knowing i shouldn't do it I did and now i'm stuck in a recovery loop i already tried this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696 with no luck it came back with can't open /block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota

Ok, I need some help and I'm not sure if I'm in the right place but let's see. I have a vs980 with version b firmware. Been running cm11 with no problems at all, was using clockwork Recovery. today I installed tarp and then I installed rayglobe and I was very impressed used it all day then I decided I wanted org capability so used the tarp app from the plastore to check and flash a new recovery if one was available it said their was so I downloaded it upon flashing it aborted . I thought no prob I'll LG tool back to stock but after it starts the process it aborts because my phone is reading it's a 802 phone not vs980 so rayglobe still runs perfect phone still rooted but can't revert to stock and not sure what I can install, any help would be greatly appreciated

You could try editing the build.prop file. That's where ur device is reading that its a d802 variant. Or just use adb to push the right twrp. The one from the app failed because its not loki'd most likely. You can also download a loki'd recovery img file and flash using flashify. Once u got the correct recovery just flash a stock ROM.
Or if ur existing recovery wasn't overwritten, just flash a stock ROM.

I tried the flashift method but it just hangs its just as confused as I am! But my recovery was corrupted cause when I try to boot into it a couple letters flash across the upper left of my screen I hold down the power key and it reboots into rayglobe. Ok am not familiar. With adb I have tried to set it up but keep failing for some reason. I tried to push the b Loki sat morning and just never figured it put thought I was typing the correct commands but apparently not
Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
If ur rooted, flashify should work. Just make sure u select recovery img from app, and make sure u have the correct recovery img downloaded.

Ok I see what u r saying! Now my next question is is there a flashify img that I. Can use on the b stock cause I can't find it

For LG flash tool to work properly ur gonna have to edit the build.prop so it sees VS980 4G instead of d802. Not really sure how to fix a corrupted recovery on 12b firmware without adb access. Hang in there, someone here will b able to get ya fixed.

Which one cause I couldn't get it to install on the b firmware

this one: http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/d802
but i prefer to install twrp first, then flash philz in twrp, reboot once and then flash the rom thru philz (thats what i did and its working like charm now)
The problem is if my phone thinks it's a 802 it won't let me install twrp for the vs980 beca use it thinks it's a different. Phone. Unless u pushed it to the phone with adb and I have not figured out how to do it successfully.

First list what exact model number your galaxy s4 is. If the phone doesn't boot it should say on the back of the phone when you take off the battery.
Once you do that you should boot into download mode and Odin the correct tar. That should boot you right up then you can perform a factory reset.

You're in the Sprint S4 forums. You need to look for the International S4 thread that has your Odin tar file then flash that. You should be just fine. Either search here for it or Google " xda i9505" and that'll find it for you.

I have had my S5 for two days now. I haven't done any modifications to it and have kept it completing stock. I was browsing the internet in Chrome when I got a notification saying there was a security breach and that the phone needed to restart in order to undue any changes made. So I pressed the restart button and it started to restart normally until I saw in tiny blue text "RECOVERY BOOTING....", I didn't think much of it until nothing started to happen after a minute. I let it go for another 5 minutes and then 15 minutes. I came back and still it was at the same screen. I decided to turn the device off and on to see if that would do anything, nothing happened. I took the battery out and waited a few minutes to put it back in, again nothing new. I was looking into other threads about this happening to other phones because the S5 is so new there is nothing on it doing this. But I found no useful information. So my question is, how can I fix this? I don't mind having to reset it, there's only a few apps installed. I'm tech savvy, so I'll now what you mean if you give me any tips. Thank you!
If doesn't matter if you lost the installed apps, then boot to recovery and choose wipe data reset factory and then wipe data cache.then restart your mobile it should solve your problem.

Did you get an answer? Am having the same issue
I have already unrooted my phone but I've been getting these update notifications to update my phone and when it restarts the phone to update, it fails! Everytime. So i'm guessing I need to go back to stock using Odin and a Tar file but I havent found any for the SPH-L720T version just SPH-L720. Does anyone know how I can fix this?
You didn't search long or hard enough. The answer IS here - even for the T version.
I'll thow this out to you.
Reason you can't update is because you have a custom recovery/kernel.
To get/receive an update you have to be on FULL Stock recovery and kernel.
If you want to get back to full stock you can try this
Got to sammobile.com and login in (register if you have to) then download the latest .tar for the T model
Then extract (unzip) the firmware file (just to the .tar.md5 file)
Open Odin
Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons. Volume up next)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to PDA slot (only file named .tar.md5)
Leave Autoreboot and F. Reset checked.
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait a few minutes.
You phone will finish and should reboot.
1st boot takes a while (about 5 EARTH minutes) then you should get the 'activate' process.

go into system settings>about phone and check your baseband (it's the modem/firmware) if it doesn't match (it should say NC6) the build version then you may have to re-flash.
Also have you made sure to upate your PRL AND Profile?
I have read a few posts abou this and it seems to actually be a Sprint issue.
Just ODIN back to stock NC6. That should do it.

It is from Knox I found that out when I tried clearing cache/data on the security message and I even forced closed it then tried wi-fi and no luck.
go into stock recovery and factory reset.
Then after booting up shut down completely.
Then boot to recovery.
Reflash the .tar (follow previous proceedure)
And see if the baseband/modem is properly updated this time.
I read that some people, after taking the latest OTA (the same as the .tar) have had to go back to sprint to have them fix it - most likely just flashing the modem.
That being said since there are some (read many) people having this issue with NC6, you can always try to Odin the NAF .tar and see if all works.
Then if you want try and take the Sprint OTA (via system settings>more>updates and check there.
I think my Device is bricked now
I followed the method which leaderbuilder said and now I believe my phone is bricked. It won't boot into recovery anymore. When the phone is turned on it says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again." But when I open kies it says my device is not supported. Someone help me please. :crying:
