Can't boot to download mode, twrp, sytem and so on - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi Guys, I need help, I cant boot my device, the blue led always on and cannot turn off the device.
I tried to look over the forum but I found nothing similar to my case.
first. I always have random freeze and rebooting, none of custom roms helps, then I try several kernels, none of it worked. I booted in safe mode, still the same. and I flash stock several times but still the same.
and yesterday, it turned off, wont booted or turned on at all, even button wont work, when I connected to charger, it wont show led, I guess my battery is the problem. then I shake my phone gently, finally it booted.
and this morning, it suddenly turn of to boot screen, I cant event enter recovery or download mode. try force restart several times but then it show s7edge boot screen then show the black scrren and red writing. now I cannot turn it off.
I tried to connect to smart switch, it recognized my device but stated that my device is not supported for initializing.
I cannot even connect it to charger.
Anybody please help me, before I take it back to service centre.
thanks in advance

hi there, exactly, I never saw something like this before. I couldn't turn off. so I just leave it in cool room (16 degree celcius, air conditioned room) to prevent it over heating and explode ( lol I was scared lol)
and it just turn off, and I tried to enter download mode again, it worked, but lol when restarting it stuck and bootloop again (freeze at bootloop).
I guess I need to take it for service though, I am pretty much sure it has something to do with hardware

That's the Bootloader Exception BUG. Not really a bug, but defect. This error is shown when there are bad blocks on the flash nand chip. Some users had luck continuously trying to reboot to download mode. Others didn't. Either way it is a hardware defect. You better give it to service.

Sony Update Service (Stuck?)

Unfortunately, I didn't read a warning thread about *not* using the Sony Update Service until after I'd started the service for my X1a.
I've been hooked up to the USB with coloured bars for about five minutes, with no progress being noted and nothing changing on the Update Service screen.
Am I in trouble here, or does it just take a while?
12 minutes and no changes.

I guess this is the absolutely first time you connected the usbcable while the phone is in bootloader?
Did an automatic driver install occur when you connected the cable?

It's the first time I've done it with an X1, or any Sony. I've flashed many Synergy and WinMo Motorolas.

I think it must've used the drivers already installed. I heard the connection and detection routines.
7:29 PM to 8:13 PM...that's a long time.
Antivirus and firewall is turned off.

If you didn't see any change at all since you connected the phone I think it's safe to disconnect it and reboot the phone.
This has happened to me, the first time I tried the service.
But If it stopped midway in flashing It's not good..
I'm no pro but as long as the bootloader is intact you should be able to reflash the phone even if the first flash didn't go well and the phone wont boot.
Maybe someone more experienced can shed some light on this...
and while you wait you can search the ROM area for answers.
Xperia ROM Development
Re-started it and everything went well.
Visibly snappier, compared to the way it was behaving before.
Thanks for the commiseration.

No problem, I'm just glad I could show some support in this obvious dark hour...
lol, mine is stuck on the forever detecting phone as well. I might just give up, and use my home computer, which is the one I use to flash phones anyway.
my work computer is vista.
Mine is stuck 'identifying' For 15 minutes now... Someone with the same problem?
vista seems to have probs always..... xp works ok ..
I observed the same experience as well. first attempt will always appear hang at the bootloader, w/o any activities (which is a blessing in disguise, imagine stuck halfway into flashing). Disconnecting & connecting again do the trick. I'm on Vista...
I realize that SEUS is "safer" in terms of support, but why don't you just download the image file you need and flash from the memory card?

9100 3G bricked, or something worse?

Hi, I'm a Newbie as You can see I will try to describe my problem. I have a qtek 9100, and I (being so dummy) flashed a wrong hard spl from another phone, (I don't know, from what phone, I just surfed google) and now the phone doesn't do anything, I tried to cold reset it but it didn't worked, I tried to push all the buttons and power it on, that didn't worked too can You suggest me something? its a 3G model, if You need more info, just ask, I will try to answer
could Anybody Help me?
Please
...heh....
Please provide more info about your phone. What's the exact model. If you look under the battery of your phone you can see the model.
I think that you mistaken something. There is not any 9100 3G model. At your phone is there a second camera?-
sorry I mixed up sthg.
it's a T-Mobile phone, it was CID-Unlocked, and i don't know exactly, but under the battery it's written that it's wiza200
Take a look at this guide & follow the steps one by one. I hope that this will work.
If this don't work & you are sure your device is CID unlocked you can try flashing T-mobile 2.26 (with a little search you will find it ).
T-mobile have saved my a-s a lot of times .-
sorry, but that didn't helped for me.
the phone is not responding to anything, it is like a brick
when i press the camera button and the on/off button, nothing happens, no boot loader screen at all

Are you sure your battery is not completely dead? Do you have the original 1.0A charger?
Yes, I'm sure about the Battery
I Don't have the original charger, but I test the Battery with another phone, and it works fine..
I flashed a Wrong SPL.. isn't that the problem? and I don't know how to bring it back
I don't have time to search it but you can search for ''jump start'' or ''kick start''. It is a way to start your Wizard with a similar problem as yours. Simply you connect a 9v or 12v (I don't remember) to your battery & then you put it in your phone & it starts.
As you can see I can't remember exactly what you must do. Search it. The exact instructions are in the forum .-
Sorry, That didn't worked for me too.
The phone is Dead..
and I need to Bring It Back to Life..
You still haven't provided enough specifics about what happened and is happening to your device. Do any lights come on? What specific rom did you flash it with? You are going to have to search through the past discussions. Don't lose heart - others have gone through a similar ordeal.
Well, at least you can still sell it for parts...
I'm sorry to hear about your mistake, but that's why there are so many warnings to read and read more before flashing.

So that's it?
It's a brick?
The light does shine, but just after many random pushes of on/off button, reset and camera button. sometimes ir shines for a long time, and sometimes for just a second.
and i don't remember which rom did I flashed..
it was a long time ago..
H-Jtag wouldn't help?

[Q] Hd2 having seizures!!!

Hello,
I've had my hd2 for about 6 months now and about a month ago it started randomly crashing. I'd have to take the battery out and reset, but when i'd start about 1 out of ever 4 times it would show the inital launch screen, but the numbers in the bottom left would never come. So i'd have to remove the battery again and reboot.
Then it started happening more frequently. Random restarts, crashes, and the phone didnt like to boot at all most of the time.
Last night, it gets really bad and i am able to get into the phone once. After that it freezes always when you initially power on, you see the boot splash, but no numbers in the bottom left, no moving forward.
AND NOW when i power on, the screen stays black, and it just vibrates and will not stop at all unless i remove battery. In fact, as soon as i pop the battery in, it starts doing this.
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anybody
Try doing a HARD RESET.
If that does not help it means you have a damaged HD2 motherboard, try contacting T-Mobile or HTC for a replacement.
I'm 100% sure it is a heat problem. I do have the same problem. With my HD2 disassembled I checked that "freezing" the motherboard make my phone boot without a problem... and it worked properly as long as it stayed cool.
I'm trying to replace the motherboard by myself as I do not live within the USA...
Hope it helps.
Same exact problem here, although it happens less often for me. How do we keep the motherboard "cool" so it won't happen? or is this a sign of motherboard going bad soon and it'll be replaced sooner or later??
I think it is a sign of a dying phone... or at least a dying motherboard.
Maybe (just a theory) these are signs of a "cold joint" similar to what happens to the Xbox 360... and the way to fix it is to "reflow" the motherboard... but we need a more technical point of view on this one...
Thanks for the replies. I have tried the hard reset, but it just vibrates with the screen off still, no success in any attempts to do anything. I guess i will have to contact htc since i did not purchase the phone from tmobile.
I did notice before this happened that the phone was getting hot after even a few minutes of use. So i have to assume it is a damaged motherboard or whatever it is inside of my precious hd2 that makes it bring me joy.
Now i am joyless and sad.
Back to the old 2g iphone
*cries*
Im having the same problem too,its not even 3 months yet since i got my phone.can i still have tmo replace my phone?istill need to flash it back to the original shipped ROM.right now ive been flashing it with diff custom roms and still having the reboot issue.
Sent from my HTC Windroid using XDA App

Black screen?

My phone was working fine, picked it up just now to check calls etc screen wouldn't come on. Hit the power button the lights come on a notifaction came through and started flashing but still the screen wouldn't come on. Pulled the battery and restarted the screen lit up like the static on an old TV then went of again.
Whats wrong?
Mine freezes up sometimes, screen won't come on, go to pull the battery too
It's possible something got corrupted when you pulled the battery - try clearing caches from recovery

Buggy ROM, are you running Lollipop?
There are many bugs in LP at the minute, if you upgraded from KK it's advised to perform a factory reset to get rid of a good number of bugs, KK leaves behind rubbish files that cause problems
I factory reset mine but occasionally get the black screen problem - known as SOD or Sleep of Death - phone goes to sleep, doesn't wake back up
I had same problem... sometimes it look like the light is very low... suddenly the screen went dead.... samsung replaced the screen.
Yes I am running lollipop I already had done a factory reset and cleared the cache. Happened twice again today. I got this

When I pulled the battery, tried a couple of times and it eventually worked. I may be wrong but I think there is a lose cable connecting the screen.
I'd get it repaired under warranty if you still have it, factory reset should have fixed it if it was a ROM bug, could try flashing a stock ROM again, but I think that's more likely to be a hardware issue

Yep, just came across a massive thread on Android Central about this issue, seems to be very common.
Any update on this, I think it might of been the case causing issue. I had one of them cheap plastic cases on it, it was so tight I had issues pressing the buttons, and when I took it off back cover and everything pulled of. Anyway I replaced it with an S View case and all has been fine. Could it of been the case?
Guess it's possible if it was extremely tight - not sure what's directly under the body of the actual phone, you'll have to give it a while and see if it happens again
Hopefully not

You're on stock Cyanogen OS. That sounds good. You could solve your problem entering manual testing mode.
Type *#*#1111#*#* then go to Manual Test - G Sensor Calibration, put your phone on a plane surface (plane to all directions!) and press the only existing button with chinese signs. After calibration, press pass and go back to leave Engineer Mode.
I can't repair my Zuk because I replaced recovery and also installed Cyanogenmod, and this code don't work for me.
I hope hear from you good news. And if you have any question here I am.
Good luck.

Just tell me how your Zuk got into this problem. Did you hit the phone. Some kind of crash.
Mine started to get crazy after a snowboarding fail.

I don't know exactly but I think come from the factory, I'm sure it never crashed.
my g sensor is way off too, with alot of drift in cardboard apps etc. i entered engineer mode as above and done the calibration, i get this fail message " test failed, please find the soft engineer"
it wont give me the option to press pass.
any idea on how to fix this??????
Just update your phone!
Before the update it didnt work either!
But since I update it to the newest fw, it all worked as it should!
