My phone was working fine, picked it up just now to check calls etc screen wouldn't come on. Hit the power button the lights come on a notifaction came through and started flashing but still the screen wouldn't come on. Pulled the battery and restarted the screen lit up like the static on an old TV then went of again.
Whats wrong?
Mine freezes up sometimes, screen won't come on, go to pull the battery too
It's possible something got corrupted when you pulled the battery - try clearing caches from recovery

Buggy ROM, are you running Lollipop?
There are many bugs in LP at the minute, if you upgraded from KK it's advised to perform a factory reset to get rid of a good number of bugs, KK leaves behind rubbish files that cause problems
I factory reset mine but occasionally get the black screen problem - known as SOD or Sleep of Death - phone goes to sleep, doesn't wake back up
I had same problem... sometimes it look like the light is very low... suddenly the screen went dead.... samsung replaced the screen.
Yes I am running lollipop I already had done a factory reset and cleared the cache. Happened twice again today. I got this

When I pulled the battery, tried a couple of times and it eventually worked. I may be wrong but I think there is a lose cable connecting the screen.
I'd get it repaired under warranty if you still have it, factory reset should have fixed it if it was a ROM bug, could try flashing a stock ROM again, but I think that's more likely to be a hardware issue

Yep, just came across a massive thread on Android Central about this issue, seems to be very common.
Any update on this, I think it might of been the case causing issue. I had one of them cheap plastic cases on it, it was so tight I had issues pressing the buttons, and when I took it off back cover and everything pulled of. Anyway I replaced it with an S View case and all has been fine. Could it of been the case?
Guess it's possible if it was extremely tight - not sure what's directly under the body of the actual phone, you'll have to give it a while and see if it happens again
Hopefully not

i have a tmobile wing. it randomly freezes while using it, fades to white then off, turns off
sometimes only way for it to come back on i have to take out battery and put it back.
when i turn it on sometimes itll loop the tmobile thing, maybe make it to the windows mobile green page then turn off and try again.
ive reinstalled the tmobile rom, installed open touch, still the same thing.
i read about the memory card having a loop porblem so i took it out, still. tried installing total commander and renaming the file but it wont let me rename it.
thought the screen ribbon or another wasnt in good so i took it part and made sure i put everything in good.
maybe the fact that a pin that touches the battery it broken? see how they make an arc or so. and the 1 is broken. is that the problem maybe?

That may well be the case. The first thing to try is to plug the phone to the charger and see if the phone works properly. If it does the next thing would be to get a new battery.
I had the same problem and it was solved by installing a new battery.
Best of Luck
yes it does do it while plugged into charger. a little less though.
and ive noticed that when i try to fix the back cover, doesnt fit right so it pops off on 1 corner, i take it off and put it back on tight, from me pressing down the phone likes to freeze and reboot.
ive been thinking about a new battery. i guess ill go ahead and get one then.
Hello,
I've had my hd2 for about 6 months now and about a month ago it started randomly crashing. I'd have to take the battery out and reset, but when i'd start about 1 out of ever 4 times it would show the inital launch screen, but the numbers in the bottom left would never come. So i'd have to remove the battery again and reboot.
Then it started happening more frequently. Random restarts, crashes, and the phone didnt like to boot at all most of the time.
Last night, it gets really bad and i am able to get into the phone once. After that it freezes always when you initially power on, you see the boot splash, but no numbers in the bottom left, no moving forward.
AND NOW when i power on, the screen stays black, and it just vibrates and will not stop at all unless i remove battery. In fact, as soon as i pop the battery in, it starts doing this.
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anybody
Try doing a HARD RESET.
If that does not help it means you have a damaged HD2 motherboard, try contacting T-Mobile or HTC for a replacement.
I'm 100% sure it is a heat problem. I do have the same problem. With my HD2 disassembled I checked that "freezing" the motherboard make my phone boot without a problem... and it worked properly as long as it stayed cool.
I'm trying to replace the motherboard by myself as I do not live within the USA...
Hope it helps.
Same exact problem here, although it happens less often for me. How do we keep the motherboard "cool" so it won't happen? or is this a sign of motherboard going bad soon and it'll be replaced sooner or later??
I think it is a sign of a dying phone... or at least a dying motherboard.
Maybe (just a theory) these are signs of a "cold joint" similar to what happens to the Xbox 360... and the way to fix it is to "reflow" the motherboard... but we need a more technical point of view on this one...
Thanks for the replies. I have tried the hard reset, but it just vibrates with the screen off still, no success in any attempts to do anything. I guess i will have to contact htc since i did not purchase the phone from tmobile.
I did notice before this happened that the phone was getting hot after even a few minutes of use. So i have to assume it is a damaged motherboard or whatever it is inside of my precious hd2 that makes it bring me joy.
Now i am joyless and sad.
Back to the old 2g iphone
*cries*
Im having the same problem too,its not even 3 months yet since i got my phone.can i still have tmo replace my phone?istill need to flash it back to the original shipped ROM.right now ive been flashing it with diff custom roms and still having the reboot issue.
Sent from my HTC Windroid using XDA App
Hi Guys, I need help, I cant boot my device, the blue led always on and cannot turn off the device.
I tried to look over the forum but I found nothing similar to my case.
first. I always have random freeze and rebooting, none of custom roms helps, then I try several kernels, none of it worked. I booted in safe mode, still the same. and I flash stock several times but still the same.
and yesterday, it turned off, wont booted or turned on at all, even button wont work, when I connected to charger, it wont show led, I guess my battery is the problem. then I shake my phone gently, finally it booted.
and this morning, it suddenly turn of to boot screen, I cant event enter recovery or download mode. try force restart several times but then it show s7edge boot screen then show the black scrren and red writing. now I cannot turn it off.
I tried to connect to smart switch, it recognized my device but stated that my device is not supported for initializing.
I cannot even connect it to charger.
Anybody please help me, before I take it back to service centre.
thanks in advance

hi there, exactly, I never saw something like this before. I couldn't turn off. so I just leave it in cool room (16 degree celcius, air conditioned room) to prevent it over heating and explode ( lol I was scared lol)
and it just turn off, and I tried to enter download mode again, it worked, but lol when restarting it stuck and bootloop again (freeze at bootloop).
I guess I need to take it for service though, I am pretty much sure it has something to do with hardware
That's the Bootloader Exception BUG. Not really a bug, but defect. This error is shown when there are bad blocks on the flash nand chip. Some users had luck continuously trying to reboot to download mode. Others didn't. Either way it is a hardware defect. You better give it to service.

appreciate a lot ^^
Hi!
My LG phone is doing weird after i did a factory reset 2 days ago. The battery empty's like a waterfall and the phone is continiuously hot.
I tried to do another factory reset/wipe but i got the same issue again. Even with the battery saver turned on, the phone stays alive for only 3 hours with 12 minutes screen on time.
Screenshot battery usage:

What can i do to fix this?
So i did a reset again, installed all my apps, logged in to them, the only thing that i did not do was place the sim card. And it works perfectly! But the moment i pit the sim in it, the battery drains like crazy again due to 'Android System' using all the resources continiously. What the hell is going on? ??
Did you try to do a factory reset using the power button and the Volume down button. Is it going to make a difference maybe. I usually do a factory reset, once with settings so I can wipe the sd card then I use the power button option, so yes twice. works for me.
Yes that is what i did, after that the issue started. The weird thing is, i used another phone (samsung galaxy s3) and the same thing happened there! I just received a new simcard to see if that was the cause of the problem. I hope this issue is over now, i will message here if it is resolved or not.
Edit: sadly it does not! Android os does still use all of the battery, so the sim swap dis not work. Can this be something related to my google account and the settings that come with it? How can i find out why android os is using so much battery?
Tried another system wipe, checked the APN settings since it only drains while sim is in the phone, but that didnt help either
Are you testing any beta app? Try to exit any beta program and restart your phone... for me works.

No i am not, only using regular apps like whatsapp, facebook and such things. No beta's of any kind. The problem also happened rivht after factory reset. Only placed sim and logged in with my google account and it happened already. If i dont place sim the problem is gone.
I think i found the problem, it seems the LG G6 is not reading the sim correctly sometimes. That would explain the phone eating trough the battery, restarting into safe mode at night, and sometikes giving the error that it cant find all wifi networks due to simcard. I'm afraid its hardware related since a factory reset did nor help.
It could be that your little sim tray holder is deformed, and no longer able to properly align the sim card.
I replaced my sim tray holder after it broke, and things works great. I think they are down to less than $5 on ebay now. I bought two trays just in case the tray breaks again.
Here is the deal both Google and System UI crashed on my S5e last night while I was reading and now I am unable to reboot/power down the tablet using either the Power button or the onscreen controls. As you can see it is just the 2 onscreen buttons that I get and n othing happens expect they dissapear when I try and tap either. Also I am unable to use ADB in this sitution to force a reboot/power down as can be seen in the second image. At this point I am at a lost on what to do besides wait for the tablet battery to die which in its current state could take days if not a week+ considering that nothing is showing up.

You try a 20+ second long press on the power button (if that's correct for that model) to do a hard reboot?
Yes I have I have held the button for a bloody minute aka 60 seconds and no reboot/poweroff

The only other thing you can do is physically disconnect the battery or wait for it to discharge.
If you get it to reboot go into safe mode and backup all critical data. Then factory reset.
If that fails it will need reflashed or the hardware issue causing it fixed.
That is what I thought and as I said it can take up to a week+ for this to discharge since it was nearly full when it happened
If you used a SD card as a data drive and it's not encrypted at least the data can be salvaged.
It may not be as bad as it looks but I'm thinking a mobo failure. I've never seen this type of behavior with any of my Samsung's.
Recertified ones can be had for $200 or so but will likely be upgraded to the latest OS version for it. If you're running on Pie you may not like it.
I bought this one for $275 back in 2021 and ended up receiving a used one when Amazon said it was suppose to be new so yeah something like this was bound to happen sooner or later

I would've returned it. I use one vendor where I got a new N10+ a little over a year ago. His prices aren't real low but he's trustworthy. Their price is $600 for your model. He buys lots of unsold new devices. There's lots of scamming going on, something I noticed when I was shopping.
Apparently you have to hold power and volume down to force power off a Samsung device so you missed a step there. Also the tablet seems to be working fine now after doing so

Correct. Hard reset is both buttons; something I never have to use. However long pressing just the power should force it to shut down.
Try clearing the system cache from the recovery menu.
