1. That's the most important thing: When you have rooted your phone with a Tutorial, don't turn off OEM-Unlock!!! This will bridge your phone!!! How to repair: When you have bridged your phone, you can use this tutorial: search on Youtube after install stock firware with odin
2. Be carefully in what you download!!! With root, a virus can much better damage your phone then without root!
I hope i could help somebody out there
I think you mean BRICKED not bridge
I have rooted, turned off OEM-Unlock and no brick

No offence, but don't you think you should spend more time here listening, reading and learning and maybe give advise only once you're confident in your abilities and really know what you're talking about? Just a thought!
Hmm...
Hmmm.... at my phone it got briked when I turned off OEM-unlock... But it can also be if you just rooted your phone over an phoneroot app like kingoroot, kingroot and so

Don't know about that but here are some things you SHOULD do before you root
Explore xda-developers forum so as to be sure you fully understand process before practicing on any device, compare the advantages against the disadvantages (on a personal level) involved with rooting. Once you succesfully achieve root access, if you are like me you will flash a awesome custom rom and try out some of the wkd good quality apps/tweaks you're able to enjoy! Also thank Devs and acknowledge the work and time they have put in any way you can.

Hi there chaps! I´m a NewB in the Android world an just acquired a Xperia play (r800a)
I´m from Mexico and yes there is no 2.3.3 update so far AFAIK, I have been reading about the different methods to get a successful update, so far I have tried PC Companion and SEUS with no luck (both state I have the latest software) then I bumped with Willlis111 thread (good job man BTW) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119074
So far I understand that (correct me if I´m wrong) I have to use Flashtool software with the UK generic FTF to override my current version of 2.3.2 so I can update OTA to a 2.3.3
For me, unlocking the bootloader is out of the question do to guarantee so I will like to try this method.
I have a bunch of questions cuz is something I have never done before (a little exitment in my life LOL)
I say better to ask the questions before than after....
1-I assume this will work with my r800a?
2-I´m assuming my bootloader is locked since the Track ID works?
3-What happens if I skip Step2 (gingerbreak)? Escapes to me the real benefits of the rooting procedure
And finally.....
4- Could this process brick my Play beyond resurrection?
Thanks to all and sorry for the long post....hopefully I´ll get some experience with droids and start building some apps soon
Rob.
Any input appreciated....
1) It is confirmed to be working on R800a.
2) If you haven't unlocked it, it's locked. No phone comes with bl's unlocked by default.
3) If you don't want to root your device, you can skip the Gingerbreak step. Here you have some insight on root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076720
4) AFAIK noone has reported issues with that particular way of updating. However, BE CAUTIOUS.

Thanks Logseman! I`ll defo update it in hopes it removes some of its glitches
I´ll take a peek in that GB thread that you mentioned.
Cheers and thanks again.

yeah! I used Flashtool and used the generic UK FTF with success! Configured the MMS and the Internet Aps´s and all seems to work
One thing I noiced is that now my SP seems to be a r800i instead of a r800a as it used to be....any ideas why? Any drawbacks on this?

I guess you are right mate, thou I thought that spec was more of a hardware thing...seem that is software related then
Now I´m on the verge...to root or not to root that is the question. I´m tempted to update to 2.3.3 and skip gingerbreak for the time. Somebody convince me other wise please LOL!
I´m sure that when I decide to root my Play there will be and upgrade of some sort with gingerbreak that will let me do it over the 2.3.3

Rooting wont damage your phone it just makes you an admin on your phone same as you would get on a pc (you can do things you normally cannot). Its totally upto you. I use AdFree which removes adds when browsing the net on phone plus the adverts in free games are removed, it requires root to use this program.
If you root see safe apps to remove thread. I uninstalled most of the things listed and there are no problems at all .
Also about bricking your phone in your first post. Rooting wont brick your phone but you might mess it up if you uninstall stuff thats not on that list so just keep to the list and it ok. Plus since you have a locked bootloader even if you do brick your phone you can fully repair it using SEUS.

Lotsa good information there for sure, but that's not what I was interested in.
I've read some stuff that makes me a bit concerned.
One persons phone won't boot now, coincidence that he unlocked the bootloader attempted Root ? Dunno.
Would be helpful to hear some actual experiences that's all ...

Hi everyone,
Today I am posting this thread because of some idiots who are now sharing pre-rooted firmwares for SM-G361F that are full of bloats.
I am sick of that, this is why I upload the archive of the first pre-rooted firmware I got that was at least clean.
You can download it here: https://mega.nz/#!oqpRhZJZ!B18uTiB3TH-QfChoqjgWCNmaPjqInPZbFyI4u9-T8s4
Note: This firmware is ONLY for Samsung Galaxy Core Prime SM-G361F devices with AOG1 build.
Of course I don't own the firmware and I didn't root it, I just keep the right to upload it.

Pre rooted
Hey,can you find SM-G361F pre rooted version for this device?
BaseBand G361FXXU1AQA1
Build number G361FXXU1AQD1
I can't find it anywhere
I love what you're doing. All other pre-rooted ROMS are full of trash. Could you make it for G361FXXU1APA3?
Hum... OK guys thanks for the love but I have to remember you something.
I am not a developer yet and truly not a ROM unbloater: I didn't "disinfect" the firmware, I just reuploaded it (well after a fast check, I found I've already prevented about that, just read the thread please...)
So no dudes I can't do that, sorry. I COULD eventually do that, removing bloats and extract system image to make a flashable shouldn't be as complicated, but I do not have time.
Sorry to disappoint you.
Hey Atronid, you rock! I have the AOL1 but intend to give it a try cause I already rooted it but it's full of bloast. Do you know if I can flash another pre-rooted firmware considering I did this already? could this be harmul? -brickful? )-

I don't think doing this will brick your device, but careful. Ensure the usal requirements are here (OEM unlock, USB debug just in case...) and you made a backup, also in case something goes wrong.
But if you're rooted you got plenty tools that can remove bloats from your device, but I hope you're not easily scared because once removed system may spam that the bloat you just uninstalled has stopped. You can get rid of that by just rebooting your phone.
So you don't need to reflash any firmware if you just want to clean your phone up.
Yes, you're right. The problem was that the apps I tried to remove other apps weren't the right ones, but now that's sorted thankfully On the other hand, as I couldn't find an Android 6 ROM for my phone (not even a sorry recovery.... ) in the end I set my mobile to install new apps on the sd card by default. Actually it works similarly to the app Link to SD, so a part of it is on the SD card and the rest (like the data it generates) in the device storage, despite all the tutorials sell this method as "Installation directly on your SD card". You need a computer and official Android development tools (SDK). In case it's of any interest for anyone I'll include the tutorial I followed, but it turns out I'm not allowed to post links yet, so the title of the article was Cómo instalar aplicaciones DIRECTAMENTE en la tarjeta SD from androidjefe website. In English, How to: Force Android to automatically install apps to SD card from softonic website
I hope it helps

Read first post. I don't think it will work if you have a build other than AOG1.
And you should not use TWRP to flash like this. Use Odin and Download mode instead.
Will this rooted firmware work with my SM-G361F phone? Need advice...
Hi there,
Will this rooted version work with my phone?
I'm new here and need some help and advice re Rooting this Samsung phone SM-G361F - I'M NO TECHIE but have ability to following instructions and make connections etc. My phone details are below.
Baseband G361FXXU1ASC1
Build LMY48B.G361FXXU1AQD1
Patch level is 2017-4-01
Security software version ASKS 1.2_161011
I did once try rooting a Samsung tablet using Odin and it all worked OK, but that was a while ago.
How important is it to get the identical build or baseband? Anything else I need to check?
I was trying initially trying to change the phone's MAC address, as I was experimenting with the phone, however I could not use an App to do this as it stated phone that the phone needs Rooting first for App to work. Also tried Terminal Emulator app but it kept failing to work as I was probably, unable to input the text commands required correctly.
I hope someone can please help and advise me on this.
M
Kind regards
Does anyone know where I can get the stock rom / recovery for the J337P ?
Thanks
Just google the make and model with the words stock rom samsung publishes all their firmware online just make sure you get the right one for your phone so check out the software version and be sure it matches

Currently latest binary there isnt any unlock for but I am working on it some. It is one of the more difficult ones to do due to Sprints new security. Only one team so far (at least made public) has done unlocks for it. If you have older binary builds there are some unlocks available on clangsm forum. Might check there.
Well not so much of a challenge anymore I guess on this one. The Yemen fellows have managed to unlock this long ago and now it seems everyone has a solution for it heard so much for Sprint's latest RSA haha

I have this phone and see many different methods. Some say very difficult and easy to brick, others are just not clear (to an old man).
SM-J337P
Software Version: J337PVPU4BSJ2
If you hade one in your hand right now, do you have a favorite tutorial / method to obtain root?
What about a custom rom, you have a recommendation?
Thanks in advance to all with input, I value it

Hey there nice to meet you. Pretty much the 337 P can be rooted if you have cheated PRP for it that is about the easiest way to go about it. You can also get the boot image and go ahead and use it with magisk in a Flash the boot image back get it rooted and then use something like AAP ke flasher to flash TW RP but again you would need a custom as men are built in mine is not finish it. However you will run into some issues if you do the ladder as they will need to be signed images at least I have came to find out. And remember Ruth should be treated all up most respect otherwise you will have a phone that is vulnerable to just about everything in the world haha. Take care

I did the same in the past with an S7, I did a factory reset and it removed the root and went back to stock. This does not seem to work with the S8 though.

no. go to sammobile.com/firmwares and find the latest firmware for your device. Then get the Frija tool or SamFirm and download the firmware via one of those two tools (theyre both available by searching on XDA and they do the exact same thing, they just look a bit different) as they download the firmware literally 4 to 5 times faster and flash the stock firmware in Odin with the phone in DL mode. Be sure to flash the HOME_CSC to factory reset it and return it to a ready for sale state. Also, go into the settings and remove the fRP lock

Because of this i try to make a point of thanking the person in writing at the beginning of my post. Magisk is systemless root. It will never be reset by by anything within the OS. Only restoring the patched bootloader would remove the root. TWRP is the same. Download a stock image and flash via odin to restore the device.

Many thanks for explaining this. I have to say i was surprised with my rooted S7 root as i lost the root after a reset. It takes me a while to get my head round these things
