Well, I tried to look for a reasonable answer, but I couldn't.
I used to have Ninja ROM and the first 3 Builds of Alien installed in my phone. Battery life and phone temperature were normal, in fact, pretty good. I usually use my phone with data connection on (3G) and use it for chatting and receiving corporate mail. My battery life was 20+ hours a day with regular use and temperature was between 72 and 75 degrees when not using the phone. Phone used 01.77.30p either with faux's kernel or stock kernel.
Last week, I flashed Alien Build 4 and I started to notice a lot of battery draining when on mobile data connection ONLY. Even if data was NOT being transmitted, the phone got really hot (100 degrees) and battery lost more than 8 percent per hour in idle. So I thought it was the kernel. Flashed faux's latest and it didn't work. Reflashed .30p radio but nothing happened. Reflashed stock and results were worst.
I just don't know what's going on. 3G Watchdog and Traffic Counter report minimal data consumption when idle (no more than 10Kb per hour) but I'm still losing up to 10% per hour when on mobile data connection.
If I deactivate it, I only lose 1% every 80 minutes. When on Wifi, 1% every 55 minutes. Something is going on. Even if signal strength is ALWAYS good, it happens EVERY TIME I leave mobile data on.
Lots of apps are frozen but it's not related to apps since it only happens with mobile 3G connection, even with 2G connection. With WiFi on, phone doesn't heat up and battery life is amazing.
I've also tried to flash all roms available (Aura, Pi Crust, R9, Star Wars, now on The Dark Side) but problem is ALWAYS present.
What could be happening? I've tried every solution, tips, calibration and options possible, but I still have this issue. Any ideas?
Maybe it could be trying to ping the network more often to keep that data connection?

atm im not quite sure.. i was going to DL build 4 but the BM site is down for some reason, i have #3 DLed and i was going to compare some things between the two and try to find ou for you.. but.. atm im stumped. hah. plus what i said was just pretty much a shot in the dark at a possibility. but.. who knows right?

when you say this do you mean youve tried all these ROMs after getting the problem with updating to #4?
I've had problem's similar to this. Odds are it is from old data from that original ROM that caused you trouble being kept behind and not being erased. What I WOULD personally do is....go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009 and grab the 2.3.4 fruitcake. download it to external SD card. backup all data. reboot into fastboot mode on phone, plug phone into computer. open command prompt, navigate to the directory where fastboot is installed and type:
fastboot devices **to make sure device is connected**
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase user data *or just data if user data doesn't work for you*
fastboot erase webtop
fastboot erase boot *this is important*
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase preinstall *important as well*
fastboot reboot
let it reboot, reboot into recovery, and clear all data here to with a dalvik cache wipe and a cache/system wipe. That'll clear EVERYTHING. Then proceed to flash the 2.3.4 fruitcake, NO ADDITIONAL radios or kernels needed as this comes with stock. Should be back to excellent battery life. Also you'll need to reflash your battery fix. Tried it and did not work either. Tried .97 radio and it kept draining and heating up like hell. This makes no sense. What else can I do?
I seem to have the same issue with alien4,too. Gonna flash something else to see if that's a rom problem cause i didn't have battery draining issues like now when i was on ninja or cm7 roms.
I have alien 4 and battery life was fine... except for when I forgot to set my overclocking back down or if I use it for navigation.. also never try charging if it is hot, the battery won't hold a charge. I doubt it was alien tho cause I have had it installed with great battery life. You've been switching roms... did u wipe battery stats?

By no means I said it is Alien 4's fault. Actually, it's happening with all ROMS! I've tried any single rom available, any single radio available and still have the same problem. Any ideas?

I just realized it was a change in my operator's network what caused battery drain. They updated from HSDPA to HSPA. Now I get amazing speeds but terrible battery life. When the phone is in 2G, battery lasts almost 3 days. I decided to put a 2g/3G icon on my desktop so that I can use H+ on demand.
Thanks for your help. Conclusion is Atrix has great battery life and my problems were not Rom related.
I saw another post where someone called provider to have them reset phone on network, and said connection improved after. Believe he had just gotten upgrade in area too. Worth a shot? /shrug

I have h+ and my temperature is fine. It will get a little warm when dl'ing but reasonably. Also, I do notice battery goes down faster with the higher speeds but not a whole lot. That is why im not looking forward to lte or faster 3g. A lot of people keep wanting faster but they also want longer battery life at the same time. There is going to be a tradeoff. And I wish the mainstream consumers would do away with wanting phones to be thinner and thinner. I for one, wouldn't mind a half inch thick phone with a man's battery inside.

3G and H+ use a tremendous amount of battery, especially if you have a push email account set up.

Yes I know, but when I was on HSDPA, battery life was good. Now that I am on HSPA, battery life decreased significantly. Just trying to find a way to set network to HSDPA only. No luck yet!
stuck with edge
i just updated my radio to 30p. I am on att stock. After update and reboot, my phone is stuck with edge. It is not changing to 4g (h icon)
I have cleared my dalvik cache and cache

Just dial *#*#4636#*#*, press phone information, then choose WCDMA only and that'll do it.
On the other hand, any solution to set phone to HSDPA only guys? Thanks
Hi everyone,
i am having a SM-G900F (it is t-mobile). It is on stock lollipop LRX21T.G900FXXU1BNL9 with modem and bootloader BOB7 (which i flashed a week ago).
I have problems since the last 2-3 days, my phone is connected to a working WiFi or mobile data and everything seems alright, but it isn't, i don't have any internet access. I have to turn of WiFi or mobile data and turn it on and eventually it starts working again :S
Does anyone has an idea what the problem may cause and how should i fix it? Thanks in advance
EDIT: Also if i take out the battery of my phone and turn it on afterwards, it turns off but with a black screen, and i get a "System fc", and i have to try to turn it on a few times to get it work like it should, but if i turn off the phone without taking out the battery it turns on just fine everytime
First thing Id try is clearing CACHE from Recovery
Did you factory reset after updating to Lollipop from KK? It is needed to get rid of left over bugs / files from KK

When i bought the phone (used) it already had lollipop on it. I tried clearing cache+dalvik cache but still the same, but didn't tried a factory reset, right now i am downloading a custom rom, will wipe everything and see what happens after that.
Some strange thing that i noticed is, that the internet now won't work for any app escept for viber, on viber it works without problems
Right now i have flashed another ROM with wipe-ing everything before and i have still problems with the internet :S
i don't know what do to now :/

EDIT2: I've found out what the problem is, it wasn't my phone, it was some weird virus which changed my routers DNS settings
I'm running stock rom with xposed and frankenclark.
The last 3 Fridays (yes its true!) the phone has locked up. I reboot and the boots up without signal. There is no signal indicator. It is like the radio has been turned off. The only way I have to resolve this is to restore a back in recovery.
I really have no clue what is the cause?

Backed up all apps with TI booted to recovery, full back up. rebooted and not signal WTF is wrong with this phone?
Is there a secret option somewhere to toggle the phones radio?
EDIT - Could it be a FAULTY SIM?
EDIT 2 - restored a NANDROID from last week = signal again....

Amplify, Gravitybox and Greenify.
The very first time it done it, I installed iFont and changed the system font. I immediately thought it was xposed but it works flawlessly "most" of the time!
This is still a massive issue for me.
it has done it two time now in the last 3 days. I'm wondering if it is something to do with Gravitybox and or xposed as each time it has happened I have lost my reboot menu. I power off, power on, phone boots but with no signal indicator at all and "emergency calls only."
I rebooted to recovery restored a nandroid excluding data - this didn't work. Rebooted to recovery, restored only the nandroid data and now my phone is working.
I didn't have any of these issue prior to rooting and installing xposed.
Any one have ANY ideas at all what is causing this infuriating issue?

THANKS ,cool that fixed my custom problem but my wifi still isn't working so im sending it back to samsung
I recently flashed android 8.0 oreo. Everything looks good except the network doesn't come back after turning on and off the airplane mode. There is a searching icon. No g6 users on the internet seems to have this issue besides me. Any suggestions?

Did you actually try to clear cache/dalvik and restart your phone?
