Did you uninstall safestrap before you use flashfire?
Do you use the rooted lolli rom mentioned in the guide or the custom lolli rom. If you use custom lolli, is that rom mentioned that it is flashfire compatible?
I understand you are on NC1 bootloader so in order to OC4 working properly, OC4 bootloader need to be flashed via odin.
If you try everything and did not work, go back to NB1 and start from there. Use the NB1 firmware that I mentioned before.

So dude, when I went into download mode, everytime I tried to place that ALLAT&T file into the AP slot, it would cause Odin to freeze and not respond. Naturally, I got angry and decided to reboot into system and magically, I could use the OS again. Now I think I'm going to flash the bootloader like you said

I am sure you did extract the .md5 from the .rar. The latest odin is Version 3.10.7 but I am using version 3.10.6 for that .md5 and it went well too. Try with different odin then.

Wow, NC1 flasher is to use safestrap in lollipop. It only flash the NC1 kernel.
Are you in Kitkat or lollipop. If you were in your lollipop you need to update your lollipop bootloader.
As I said before, if your phone went to softbrick just flash the NB1 firmware via odin.
I swear, you are a legend, an absolute god. The amount of help and experience you have given me, if only I could pay you (I'm 15, so I can't make a PayPal yet) Right now I'm on Albe95's Note 5 port rom.

I rooted my gs4 on att (i337) (Ucuamf3) using the sd card/terminal emulator exploit. It worked just fine, and have full root access. I then proceeded to install safestrap to get some custom roms going. Safestrap installed and I booted to recovery just fine. Then I flashed a few safestrap-compatible roms, none of which worked. they all booted to a consistent black screen. Thrn, I looked for a more up-to-date safestrap version, which I did. So I installed it, and now I cant boot into safestrap at all. Like literally, it just skips over it. And it says its installed...please, please help.
The newer ss is for mk2 firmware. You need to flash the mf3 tar files in odin and start over
Could you post a download link and a tut for flashing via odin? Im relatively new to this
And couldnt I just flash the custom through odin? Or does that not work with this firmware version (or whatever)

Hi Guys I'm trying to install a custom Rom on my phone but have failed 4 times now and have to reach out to the forum for help. I'm on 4.4.2 ota and have rooted w/ towel root sucessfully, installed safestrap 3.72 and 3.75, busybox and super su. I advance wipe and do a clean install. Everytime it says it was successful but when I reboot the screen goes black and does noting. The phone remains on but nobodys home. I've tried the Jasmine rom and the alliance rom with the same results. I used odin to go back to stock but I want a custom rom. Can anybody help? I've attached a screenshot of my about phone. Also can anybody recommend a Rom that helps with the signal/gps issues that started after KK?
Thanks in Advance!

You need to flash the NC2 kernel via odin. File and instructions can be found here. When following the steps in the OP you can substitute the rom you want for the one you can download from the post.
Also incase you didn't see it in the Safestrap OP you will only be able to use the stock rom slot, if trying to flash on a created slot it won't boot properly or at all (rom slots are only supported on NC2 firmware and previous, the ota is NC4).
Hope this helps.
That's great thank you very much for your help!
Do I just flash the kernal over my stock rom?

To be safe you might want to flash the rooted stock rom provided in the post I linked earlier. That rom is the NC4 stock with pre-root and a couple other tweaks Basically the same as OTA but better. Just follow the steps in the OP and you'll be good to go (if you haven't already).
thank you
My pleasure.
Ok I'm sorry I'm still confused. The OP doesn't say to flash with Odin anywhere it says flash with Safe strap. Do I flash the firmware with Odin first then Rom?

Anything firmware, kernel or modem related must be flashed in Odin as long as we have a locked bootloader. Just follow the steps as instructed and you'll be fine.

I recently upgraded today from 4.4.2 to 5.0 OC4 and kept root using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...0-keeproot-t3068546/post59791648#post59791648
However, I had no Idea it would be so hard (impossible?) to get xposed back. Is there any way in which I could install xposed ARM without having a custom recovery on my verizon G900V running lollipop?
I also read an article on another website that said you can flash safestrap with odin, go into safestrap, install anything necessary, and then reflash current ROM? I am not TOO knowledgable with all of this, however I have found my way around all this enough to ensure myself root and all needed features. Any help or information would be amazing.
Article: http://www.droidforums.net/threads/galaxy-s5-safestrap-after-the-lollipop-update.279867/
I was considering flashing the xposed ARM file with flashfire, however I read someone else was stuck in a bootloop who tried this. Would this not work? Is there any method? I was also looking into flash gordon which lets you flash .zip files without requiring custom recovery. Thanks!
EDIT: Just did some more research and found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/general/nc1-flasher-odin-to-safestrap-t3082620
It seems as if its possible, however this thread is for the OC3 version, while I flashed the OC4... Anyone out there done anything like this before, or knows how to provide the needed steps? Thanks again.
Go to the xposed thread and read any comment at all. It doesn't work on touchwiz based lollipop architecture. PERIOD. you didn't need a new thread in this forum to learn that...
I see, is there some way that I could downgrade. I've been looking into that for awhile now to go back to my 4.4.2 but there's a ton of methods and I am not sure which is required for my device. I canno't seem to find a specific method for my g900v s5. Thanks for you're reply, and I hope I can downgrade.

You can use this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3088571 it might need some modification for 4.4.2, however.

You can go up and down as often as you like. I would Odin the NCG tar from the link below and reroot.
You probably still have safestrap. You could try this first. Go to download mode and Odin the NE9 kernel. When your phone starts booting up you should see the safestrap option to boot into recovery. Boot into recovery, install a rooted NE9 ROM of your choice. Boot back into download mode via safestrap and Odin the NE9 firmware. Let your phone boot all the way up and you should be good to go. Use NCG kernels and firmware-roms if you would rather be on NGC.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...ment/stock-collection-kernels-modems-t2842069
If safestrap doesn't show up, Odin the full NCG tar file and reroot your phone.
Thanks so much for your help, the only problem is I never installed safestrap on my phone. So I do not currently have safe strap, or any custom recovery. So i can just use the odin method then, correct?

Yes, sir. That would be correct. Since you are rooted, there is an app called Flashfire you could use that doesn't even require a computer but if you are familiar with Odin that is a good way to go as well.
I have flashfire installed, in fact I used it to upgrade to lollipop. What settings should I use with flashfire to downgrade to lollipop? Do i have to clear cache or anything? And will the file from the notes #4 from here work?: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...0-keeproot-t3068546/post59791648#post59791648

What ROM do you want to have on your phone?
Just a normal stock 4.4.2 ROM works fine for me.

Download this ROM onto your SD card. I prefer deodex
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2793931
Download the NGC retail firmware from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...ment/stock-collection-kernels-modems-t2842069
In Flashfire, select firmware and navigate to your firmware. Just check boot and recovery
Next select zip-ota, navigate to your ROM. Leave auto mount unchecked.
Select firmware again. This time check boot, recovery, modem, and firmware. Flashfire will ask if you want them in separate zips. Click yes
Now select wipe. Check everything but SD card.
Now arrange everything in this order
Wipe
Firmware-boot recovery
Zip-rom
Firmware modem firmware
Firmware-boot recovery
Ever root- inject supersu
Boot normal
That should do it. You should be rooted on 4.4.2

Ur amazing. I'll try it and let you know. Thanks so much for your help.
Thanks so much! It worked perfectly! I had a problem initially after installing towelroot and xposed and got an error when rebooting the phone called "Process system isn't responding". My phone kept freezing and was super slow because of this. I believe it was due to me restoring contacts from titanium backup. I restored the contacts system app as a whole. I didn't realize that at the time however, and just system restored my phone again, and did everything the same yet didn't restore my contacts, and the message is now gone. I am not running root with xposed on 4.4.2. Your amazing!
I am currently running Optimal ROM with OD5 bootloader. Just got back into the rooted world last week after a warranty replacement stroke of luck. To be able to access SS to flash a different ROM, do I just flash the NCG kernel I have and boot?
Edit: Been out of the loop for a while and don't want to bork this thing
Anybody?
You can use flashfire which is a mobile odin and is in the playstore [root]Flashfire or you can safestrap. http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/guide-safestrap-access-odin-t3126686. Install busybox and and the safestrap bo3 in the link I provided. Make sure you install ss after busybox. The NI2 kernal flasher when used will install a kitkat kernel and bring you into ss.
Before all this download this zip and extract it.https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347777436 What you are looking to keep are the firmware and kernel zips. YOU MUST FLASH A KERNEL OR FIRMWARE AS THE LAST THING BEFORE EXITING SS. Otherwise you will get a blank screen.
Solution if you forget - battery pull - restart phone - ss symbol will appear - hit it and reenter ss.
Place everything I've told you to download on your ext sd. When you wipe - do not wipe ext sd.
example - If you're going from od5 to og5 you will ant to flash the og5 kernel as the last thing before leaving ss- just follow the rom's installation instructions to the letter
SS is already installed. I am running Optimal w/OD5 bootloader. I was wondering if just flashing NCG kernel would boot me back to SS screen. I'm old school and have been using Odin haven't tried FF and seem to see more posts of bricks with peeps using FF.

If you want the latest stock rom (unrooted) just take the Ota or you can download and Odin. If you need root rom , just root , install recovery and use safestrap and install the latest root pb1 rom.

You can, but then you can never downgrade back to NI2.
If instead you want to retain the ability to downgrade, you can either 1) root the NI2, install SafeStrap, and then install a rooted PB1 ROM, or 2) Use Odin to flash a modified PB1 stock image that has a BOD5 bootloader.
