Hey guys,
So I recently restored to stock rom and I spotted that the gaming performance is a lot better and faster than CM-based and AOSP-based ROMs
So I am letting you guys to tell your answer why in this thread, so reply down below to tell your answer, as it's very appreciated!

I kinda doubt that. TW roms have DVFS that reduces performance if the phone gets too hot.
The only reason why it would be better is due to better software-hardware compatibility.
I saw people mentioning that TW has better hardware acceleration. This may be due to the aforementioned better software-hardware compatibility.
If this is the case, GPE roms might also have better performance, since they were also built by Samsung, they might use the same drivers.
May be you had used cm rom on balance battery mod

Usally in CM and CM-based ROMs,
This mode is selected by default
But did you saw a increase in gaming performance when you chose performance mode?

Wait, so you are saying that the drivers in CM are made by CM? Not Samsung?
If it was, that makes so much sense right now

Yes that's the whole point of CM being open source.
Though I doubt that TW will give you better performance on our device due to the standard throttling on stock roms.

Yes performance mod increase gaming performance.....But i am using official TW rom always.....bucause with tw rom i got better battery life, camera, display colour/graphics.....and similar gaming performance if unnecessary system app removed.

Ok, since performance mode in settings>battery increases gaming performance,
what if that performance mode enables that stock throttling from the stock rom? And the balance mode just disables that?
Can anyone confirm?

Performance mode, as far as I know, just changed the CPU governor to the Performance governor. I don't know if it actually does anything else. Battery mode changes the governor to conservative and balanced changes it to interactive.
As far as the drivers go, all of the are based on the source code released by Qualcomm on the Code Aurora Forums (CAF). That's the starting point. From there, OEMs take the source code and modify it accordingly. CM also builds from there, but they might not spend as much time optimizing the driver's as OEMs probably do.

I think now I get what you mean because have JDCteam dropped their optimized CM13, the gaming performance is way a lot better than normal CM13

Is there any method to completely disable dvfs in snapdragon version Roms, it really kills the performance, for eg. When I run geek bench it will give score of 1060/3400 first time & 2nd time it would be down to 630/1700, I also profiled the frequency, after 2-3min. Of gaming cpu won't go above 1190mhz & gpu will be stuck at 240/300, games lag very badly... in lollipop I used wanam xposed but since it is not working in marshmallow, is their any other way to do so??

Why you think that what is limits the performance is DVFS?
Why it is not the thermal throttling, which is completely unique and exclusively dependent on the kernel?

Because device is not hot, not hot enough for thermal throttling to kick in, I monitored the temp. as well, it was always around 50, also same thing use to happen when I had lollipop unrooted, after rooting & disabling Dvfs, it was OK..

As I said "not hot enough" & also I am pretty sure dvfs doesn't need high temperatures like thermal throttling to kick in, dvfs is way too agressive, & also as I said same thing used to happen on lollipop & disabling Dvfs used to resolve it , so I am 100% positive it's happening because of dvfs, again I don't know what Samsung has cooked in, so only they know why dvfs is so aggressivly scaling frequencies. .
and you believe that Samsung has implemented the devfs limiting the phone's performance when it reaches the 50th, and has other security protection managed by the kernel when it reaches 85?
What would be the reason for this dual protection?
I thoroughly tested the DVFS of wanam in lollipop and never found any benefit
It will not only be the DVFS an urban myth?

just a curiosity on this subject:
I think I know your point of view about the dvfs. I suppose it's that one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2674928
But, there is more interpretations of DVFS. This one for example. Note the faq in post 2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/orig-development/tw-kernel-emotroid-team-t2990557
and note the link that is indicated for those who do not know what is the DVFS. This one:

very strange, no? reconcile these two views?

Ok Bro, looks like u know what u are talking about, but let me explain why I think dvfs is culprit in my case, as I said earlier when I had lollipop on device , it still used to be bad for gaming, & after disabling dvfs alone , it used to be better, so it must be dvfs itself, that used to work for me, & also as I said now on marshmallow it is throttling badly while the device isn'the even hot enough, so I can't think of anything else, if you have any suggestions what else might be causing it & what I should do to overcome this, please let me know because I think I have tried everything, but who knows, maybe I am missing something important. .
Use cm13 then, dvfs is a feature of touchwiz

Yes, I was using that, but I keep jumping b/w cm & Touchwiz, absence of Amoled Cinema display mode i's biggest reason, I tried to tune screen with kcal, but result were nowhere near Amoled cinema
theres an app called L speed, says it can help with performance without sacrificing battery, im gonna try it out and let u guys know, so far after the tweaks my phone has running a little faster without changes to the cpu settings, cores or overclocking.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/tweak-l-speed-v1-0-02-02-2015-t3020138/post58608713#post58608713 maybe you guys can try it and post your results
I love this app, tends to help out in allot of ways.
-Battery Improvement helped save a little battery life, I wouldn't say dramatic improvement but you can definitely tell it improved.
-WiFi sleeper definitely helps with that lag between the phone waking up and WiFi coming back on(Only when "keep WiFi on during sleep" is on)
- Kernel Sleepers optimization
L-Speed is probably one of the few "tweaking" apps that really works, and has technical explanations as to what it does and why.
Most tweaking and battery improving apps are junk, this is one of the exceptions.

Pretty sure you would need a custom kernel with init.d support.

Ok thanks again I tried universal init.d but it just made an empty folder in system/etc
Hi I'm highly satisfied with my oneplus 5 and I like to show off my benchmark scores. Recently my benchmark has only been around a little over 150k when I use to score 185k sometimes 190k. Anyone know why this is? I do have xposed framework installed but I even switched my Rom and tested it and still got only 155k. I don't notice any drops in performance I would just like to know what the issue may be. Thanks guys

That's exactly what I'm running it's very frustrating
Hey,
Your processor scores significantly less than it should, usually it scores around 40000 on the oneplus 5.
Maybe it's underclocked?
Please upload a screenshot with more details, like this one:
Best regards,
Most probably the highest frequency of big.little is stuck at an lower frequency. Go to developer options in ROM and turn on overscale CPU usage, then run Antutu again and see what's the highest frequency(s) you got while running. If it doesnt go above 2457mhz (cluster 2) than it makes sense why your score is low. Also check your "i/o" scheduler and "read ahead buffer size" in your kernel tweak app. This can also affect your score.
Besides all this, don't run Antutu with low battery this affects the score for sure.

Thanks for the help I'm going to reflash my rom and see if it helps.
Benchmarks are what they are... Anyway I've tested with stock kernel and it's giving even more:

reflash, keep it clean, full charge, put it in the freezer pluged-in. andddd hit 188000 :good:
I wouldn't get too caught up in the whole benchmarks thing. They don't always translate to real world performance; I would rather show off my phone's snappy interface (i.e. quick app loading, navigating menus, etc.)
I personally think that's worth showing off more than just numbers that appear on an app!
Just my two cents though, you're free to disagree and do what makes you happy of course

Yea I don't notice any less performance so I'm not too worried about it. I do wonder how my big cluster got set to 1.9 ghz tho as I haven't messed with the tuning of my kernel seems to try to set it as default. But like I said I have xposed, a couple of audio mods, and gravity box. I'm bound to have some unwanted side effects from it.

Fair points! Kind of off-topic but I'm just curious as to how you went about installing Xposed? Are you using the Magisk module or did you flash via TWRP?

It is an option to flash with xXx Rom but Ive flash the purify xposed zip via TWRP. I've also used the systemless xposed from magisk but I believe it only works if you already have xposed installed.
Hi, I was wondering if anyone has tried the Ram Management Fix magisk module by crok. I was wondering if I could get your opinions about the module, is the difference noticeable? Does it affect battery life significantly? How much available RAM do you have before and after?

Well I have tried it on Los 14.1 but didn't find it any useful, it doesn't make any noticeable difference, may be the results be different in case of miui
Nah dont use it... it'll do worse than good. Tried and tested.
I used on redmi note 4.. And the phone got slower
