[Magisk Module] Ram Management Fix - Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has tried the Ram Management Fix magisk module by crok. I was wondering if I could get your opinions about the module, is the difference noticeable? Does it affect battery life significantly? How much available RAM do you have before and after?

Well I have tried it on Los 14.1 but didn't find it any useful, it doesn't make any noticeable difference, may be the results be different in case of miui

Nah dont use it... it'll do worse than good. Tried and tested.

I used on redmi note 4.. And the phone got slower

Cm7- Vm Heap Size on Htc Wildfire- Performance optimization

Hello,
two days ago i changed the size of my Vm-heap to 32mb. I was curious after i read in some posts that this could affect the performance of resource-intensiv apps. As i am using navigon-navigation a lot i had to give it a try...
After ive changed it and rebootet the device, navigon works MUCH better then before, track calculation is much faster and the app is much more responsive and running fluent. The difference is highly noticeable. For other apps like my browser i experiecend the same.
I read that the downside of it is that it is possible that apps could be moved out of memory because some other apps now use more ram and so the jumping between apps could be more time intensive. But i have noticed no slow down at all.
(Wildfire is not a fast phone, but i think 384 mb ram is really good for that kind of phone, some other phones like galaxy ace have only 287 RAM with better cpu)
My experience is that a lot of apps running much better know, and for me its a absolute performance enhancement, I would even go so far that i would say it was the best performance-enhacement after overclocking the device. So if you are running resource-intensive apps (like navigation browsing) you should definitely give it a try.
Whats your experience with that ? Ever changed the vm heap size? Noticed differences??
Cheers.
im rocking 32 since i s-off my phone with alpharevx beta, and yes its better for intensive apps (imo) but the one thing i cant understand is way my phone i lagging when i get a call??some times the ringtone is playing and the screen is black, any tips thx

It is indeed said that such lag is due to the 'extreme' underclocking of the processor.
I'm on CM7 RC1, use SMARTASS with 245 as a minimum, and haven't noticed any lag yet..

I didn't want to implicate that the ringing lag is about the low freq., but i noticed that with such low freq's the phone is not so responsive when pulling suddenly the notificationbar, get it out of standby and such things. Never noticed something like that??
I was testing about it too. i settled with 32mb heap size, which i've found to be the best practice. Anything lower would make apps like navigon or opera lag, anything higher, would give me force closes on apps for some reason.
I also tried to experiment with compcache, with the following settings "disabled, 18%, 26%" and i think 26% makes my wildfire a bit snappier, although it might be just a placebo effect, because there's no difference in quadrant/linpack benchmarks.
why placebo effect....the question is how good can a benchmark represent the practial application in daily usage. Anybody?
I tried vm heap bigger than 32mb too. But while running navigon it seems to me not much as a big improvement so i switched back.
The compcage thing will be the next thing im testing.

I have to agree with you Whatever makes my phone "feeling" snappier and faster is good enough in my eyes!
You should really check Juwes Ram optimization thread in the Android development section for some serious performance gain. I flashed it yesterday in CM 7.1 Nightly 144 and the responsiveness boost is quite noticeable.
i agree the synthetic benchmarks are not that important its the daily use performance that mater to me
I have disabled compcache and enabled swap and my phone is snappier than 18%compcache may be Coz of compressing and decompression techniques that slow the process in compcache and scores 3.9 to 4.1 on linpack score with 576 MHz speed...

Hmm i have a swap partition already made just in case and i might try it, but in theory a swap partition (even worse if it's a file) is much slower than the compressed cache due to the SD Speed limitations, unless we are discussing about class 10 cards.
anyone ?

Is anyone seeing performance benefits when not encrypted?

On my Nexus6, running non-encrypted was night and day performance difference. On the 6p I'm not really seeing any benefit. Benchmarks are about the same in antutu, geekbench, and androbench. However it "feels" snappier, but maybe that's placebo.
i'm encrypted and i notice theres lag and slowdown compared to my old oneplus, which shouldnt happen. i'm wondering if its because encryption is causing that and is there a way for me to disable encryption?

yes, you can disable. You need to run a boot image that supports it, and a rom that supports it. Your device will need to be wiped.

Why the huge performance discrepancies between Rom's ?

Bit of a general question here, but I am getting some really wacky benchmark scores. They're all over the place and id like to know if any of you guys have found a rom and kernel that just works.
I've tried quite a few custom rom's now both Lollipop and Marshmallow, and they've all offered underwhelming performance (Not much faster than my old 801 soc device).
Albeit for the exception of resurrection remix, of which gave me phenomenal in game performance and AnTuTu scores within the 7700 range. A HUGE improvement over stock and other custom Rom's. Unfortunately Resurrection Remix 6.0 is by far the buggiest rom I've loaded, soft reboots everywhere, no working camera and artifacts.
Any recommendations for a good rom ? or should I be focusing on kernels with say stock Oxygen OS ?
I would say stay on OOS so that you can use all Sensors (FP and LF) and give Boeffla Kernel a try. Gives me amazing performance and pretty good benchmarks if i configure the Kernel to give me max performance (i dont do this often because a Benchmark score says nothing). With a balanced setting on the Kernel you get good Battery life and a good performance for daily use.
Use stock with Boeffla, guaranteed stability and from what others have posted with their tweaks seems best option. Everything else looks too experimental or unstable.
just use kernel auditor and use these settings; govenor-interactive, scheduler-row, readahead-1024, in virtual memory dirty ratio-30, dirty background radio-10, swappiness-10, Z-ram-250, under entrphy read-128, write-256. you will hit over 90,000 on antutu with stock rom. I've used these setting with stock with stock kernel, skydragon and oxyslim. i prefer stock now, i just uninstalled the apps i don't use plus oemkitlog, oneplus telephony, com.codeauroroa.img
But why should you even bother with Z-Ram when you have 4GB RAM in this phone?
Doesnt make any sense for me ...

It is totally pointless in a system with 4GB (even 3) RAM, wouldn't add performance since CPU now has to compress/decompress data on the fly - but what I'm wondering is: does Android have ZRAM by default or is this added? If it's added, lose it. If you were running an emulator this would be a hit.

Best L SPEED setting for gaming

I installed L SPEED trough google play, and this app have so many options, I was searching for good settings in this app for gaming improvement. Anyone have it?
Smartphone: Zenfone 5 1.6 Ghz 2GB ram 8 GB HD + 16 GB MicroSD class 10.
L speed will not improve performance, maybe a little, but nothing that you will note

no, they are all the same, but to really improve performance we need to way until we receive android nougat 7.0, it haves project vulkan that increases A LOT of performance, zenfone 2 is compatible, I don't know zenfone 5...

Ram Enhancement of the s7 edge

Is there a real build prop tweaks to improve ram management??? Why don't developer's make some changes to their Kernels to improve ram management over the stock ? I know s7 edge can compite against heavy ram management device's like one plus 3 or iPhone 7 plus!

Haven't had any issues here with my ram management so far. I'm on Renovate Note latest build and everything goes well, no app crash, no lag, etc.
How bad are your ram management?

Well I mean I'm using a custom Kernel call super stock Kernel I'm running king rom V13.0 but I would like to have every apps active in the background with no reopen because we have a 4gb of ram device this could easily hold every apps you throw at it but It doesn't! So that's what in talking about my s7 edge can hold like 7 or 8 but I would like to take more than 13 kind of
