So as to my understanding AT&T variants can't really flash any custom roms/ kernels so basically there really is no point in rooting right?

Development with the 935a is going to be really slow. You can root and install flashfire then flash Echo rom which is pretty stable.
I flashed the arise audio mod which gives you viper4arise too... And it sounds incredible!
I've been running Echo Rom on my S7 Edge for about a week now and its smooth as butta! was a little skeptical but I took a chance and follow all directions on rooting to flashing
Don't you lose wifi calling and wifi text with this Echo ROM?

Hello, I've installed tons of custom roms on quite a few different devices before, but this is the first one I've owned with a bootloader that can't be unlocked and I'm still kind of confused as to how all of these workarounds function and what ROMs they're compatible with. I've unlocked the phone and am using it on T-Mobile. It's currently on the MLD KitKat leaked version.
This is possibly wrong, but my understanding is that you are currently unable to install custom ROMs like CM and Omni on this device. So would it be possible to at least flash the stock T-Mobile ROM instead of AT&T? Right now, I have no access to hotspot, which is included in my plan, and I'd also like to use WiFi calling if possible. Has this been done before and is it possible on my firmware?
Thanks in advance for any help; it's greatly appreciated.

You can not flash their stock firmware. You can, however, use Safestrap to flash a ROM from their section, which as long as it is based from the stock firmware will have those features.
I have flashed HYPERDRIVE ROM with T-Mobile compatibility pack and works fine ! Even WiFi calling works!

Thanks, guys. I just got back from a trip and I'll be attempting this now.
Are there any AOSP-type ROMs that will work with this?

Also, if you havent done so, you might want to enable AWS for further compatibility. You will need to use the stock AT&T TW ROM in order to do so.

Do I need any sort of Loki kernel or can I just pick one and go with it? I'm looking at this rom right now. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2682842

Since you're using Safestrap, you can't flash a kernel anyways due to the locked bootloader. You should be able to go ahead and flash that.
Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum, so I'd like to start off by saying hello. I have a question, I've rooted my Canadian Note 4 using the CF-AUTO Root, and I've flashed a custom recovery as well. Everything is working smoothly, however, I would like to know if there are any cool custom roms that I can flash to make my phone run differently/more effectively?
I've looked and seen a bunch of custom roms, but I'm not quite sure if it's safe to flash it to my canadian device.
Thanks in advance,
-Nick

Nick, you need to give this rom a try, its definitely the best one I've ever tried on three other devices. I'm also on the canadian N910W8 so you need to flash a custom kernel as well for this rom to work as its a for a tmobile variant. Happy flashing!

Hi all, we are all surrounded here from ROM releases, versions of phones, a moltitude of options. I can't really figure out how to find a rom which can be installed on my phone, by the time I'm waiting for an unclock for CID11.
I've now a BT1 rom sim-locked and SD-not working and I can't use my phone at all. I'm stuck here.
I've rooted it already, waiting for a proper solution.
You may kindly indicate me the steps I've to follow to install the right rom, if I've to use safestrap or chainfire.flash_0.50.apk, and if I've to flash with Odin the bootloader and with which file.
Thank you so much, please add any consideration that you can consider important!

Nah man, im just picking on you. I dont believe there are any custom mm roms for locked bootloaders so far, ressurection remix works with a lp bootloader and its 6.0.1 though. Maybe check that one out. You may have to set your apns manually. I have no real way of knowing if it works on locked bl, i flased with twrp. But if you feel like taking a risk that badly for it, i would try flashfire on pb1 bl and baseband. Good luck!

I'm thinking about trying ressurection remix and i'm wondering if making a backup in lp safestrap would help in the event something goes wrong? or if does happen would I just have to flash the original pb1 rom and re-root and set everything back up again?

As far as I know you should always be able to flash back to at least pb1 and root. Also I myself would try flash fire instead of safestrap because I was never successful with safestrap, only flash fire. And I know the frustration of having a locked bl, as the unlock method has only been out a few months now. Good luck and I hope it works for you!
Well that didn't seem to work. Thank god for backups.

Yes thank God for backups, sorry it didn't work. Did u flash it with flash fire and move wipe to happen before flashing ROM? If you hold the wipe action and move it above the flash it will wipe before flashing, just don't wipe your internal storage that the ROM is on

You really dont listen do you I know I have given this link to you several times IF YOU WANT TO FLASH CUSTOM 6.0.1 ROMS ON LOCKED BOOTLOADER THEN FOLLOW THIS GUIDE http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...ow-to-flash-custom-6-0-1-roms-locked-t3393943
By the way this thread has no business in the development thread
I might add that you can only flash TW roms with the above method your out of luck with CM roms

I flashed 6.0.1 following the thread, thank you.
Sim is unlocked but Verizon keeps bothering me about, anyway it's not a problem.
The problem is that SD doesn't work, I formatted it FAT32 and it's working on PC/other phone, it was working with previous rom.
Have it ever happened to you that after flashing CID11 with BP1 u lost the SD card recognition?
Thank you!
Has any one root the T-Mobile s7e with it already on 7.0?
I have been looking but not sure . I tried to root with the method on here but I get stuck in a bootloop when it restarts after flashing the AP boot file in Odin I have tried several ways. I want to know also. I'm running 7.0 and g935t .
Yes been out for a few days, haven't tried myself yet.

Using ambasadii rom for few days and it works nice
Link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/android-nougat-7-0-beta-1-rom-test-t3498664
But you need custom recovery, and rom is debloated + rooted
Just get a custom recovery, disable encryption and flash latest SuperSU 2.79 or Magisk. All good
Am I missing something.....why are the people above me saying to put a custom revovery on tmobile variant.... afaik that's not possible.

I think that every exons proccesor (Europe) can be rooted.
But im not sure. I got my S7 from germany and its unlocked. No TMobile or other carrier.
Everything works good ?
T mobile is snapdragon. There is 7.0 root, it uses another engineering Bootloader
Right but there's no custom recovery, no custom kernel, no custom Rom, which is what the user was suggesting. Doesn't make sense. At least not for US variants.

OP, i thought was asking for root. Flashfire is basically our only recovery atm for usa hence locked bootloader.. no custom kernels but we can tweak kernel via kernel author. We have custom roms but it's TouchWiz based.(stang 5.0 rom is awesome) Still better then having nothing imo.. xposed+root apps+romcontrol+system write, makes sense and worthwhile for me.
I saw a couple guides for rooting Android 6.x on my Vzw Ss7, but I want to update to Nougat and root, install a custom recovery, and install a debloated ROM. I'm used to the Nexus and Pixel devices, which don't seem to have near as much caution tape surrounding the process. Anyone know a good guide?

Well, there will be no custom recovery. You can check the root guide for nougat in this section. The only roms are 2 for MM and 1 hybrid for N in the vzw. Each of them have guides in their threads to get you through as well. Xposed and root are possible, but i would suggest tree nougat hybrid without root for the best experience and battery on nougat.
